2022 Toyota GR86 Review

- As the owner of a first generation Toyota GT86, badged Scion FR-S in North American, we were really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the second generation 86 to see what the engineers and designers had changed to hopefully improve on an already winning formula.
Now branded GR, as in Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s racing and performance division, the GR86 received a welcomed engine displacement increase and power boost. The flat 4 cylinder boxer engine has grown by twenty percent from 2.0 to 2.4 litres. Horsepower is up fourteen percent to 228 hp from 200 hp. Torque increases by twenty-two percent to 184 lb-ft from 151.
Thankfully the weight increase from generation to generation is minimal, up just 53 pounds for the manual (2,810 lbs) and 62 pounds for the automatic (2,850 lbs).
Thanks for watching!

I feel bad for pops this car just isn't radio friendly and it's throwing him for a loop
Thanks for your review and information.
I'm also thinking of buying in 2023.
What about the RTV engine issue ?
Aren't you afraid of that ?
Bro, you just gave an overview of the car and nothing about your daily driving experiences....
Happy I scrolled down and saw this comment before watching the whole thing. Dude literally read out the specs sheet and then complained about the radio.
Exactly my thoughts. Worst video I’ve seen on the gr86/brz thus far.
@@8Kyofu8 Even worse, he whined about things like going through a drive through and getting coffee and being low relative to tractor trailers, literally all sports cars in this class do that
The BRZ and GR86 there both good cars
Kinda wack that these young people cars can only be had by guys in their 30s and 40s+ because everything cost 40k after interest and tax
plenty of younger people had these cars years ago when they came out. heck i think the average brz buying for the first gen was 25 years old, I had mine at 18 (no my parents didnt throw a dime on it)
@@invertedv12powerhouse77 back then they weren’t $40k i dont see your point
No way I would ever pay my own money to have an engine grenade on me with progressively worse clogging from RTV building up in the oil pickup tube.
just drop the oil pan , get rid of all the rtv, and put a small new coat on it. problem solved
The actual issue sample size is way smaller then is prescribed, perhaps actually follow things on the forums
@@851995STARGATE no it’s all of the new gens and it’s all subarus fault. many peoples engines blow up when tracking it. but if you aren’t driving them hard then it won’t be a problem for a while. if anyone is wrong it’s you lol
@@douxle4763 untrue, there's been 3 confirmed that weren't tied to someone money shifting, the forum is pretty intense on this, people whining about a recall out of straight fear. There's also the one famous one with the Toyota warranty deny which gained everyone's attention. If it was a big deal there would already be a TSB out but there isnt
@@851995STARGATE there’s been more than 3 but ok go off queen
Sucks you can’t find any 22 brz’s or gr86’s to test drive
I just put 500$ refundable down so I can drive one and or choose to buy it when it comes in.
@@tone3560 just be careful they are gonna try to pressure you to getting the car which is not bad if you like it i guess
@@swiftrevenge1878 30+$ grand and me saying no is an easy task if I dont want it. Even if I bought it didnt like it I could sell and make a profit on it and get something else.
@@tone3560 how much did they sell it to you for
@@swiftrevenge1878 31,100 6spd limited
Good review info though your delivery is robotic and boring. Not sure I'd you are reading and if not it seems as though you are. Improve your delivery and dont be so Ben Stein.
