Pentatonics are ol' reliable for so many of us. With blues and rock, and any genre really, being fun styles to solo in, you can never go wrong with it. Thanks Marty.
I've always played both of these runs. Just kind of discovered them on my own and they've played a huge role in my improv. You're the first person I've seen to teach these, if I had seen this several years ago it probably would have sped up my progress significantly. A Lot of people are lucky to have you man!
Can't go wrong with this, two years in and it really works for me and lets me attempt to play along with some of the greats music, Including Marty's music.😎😎
you are the best Marty took your lessons on your site and am better thanks to you. I learned every thing i know from you and now 2 years later i am playing at my church. keep up the good work.
Can you do a video of how all the aspects of music theory work together? how songs use two different keys of different scales &which keys ‘harmonize’ or work well with another
Thanks as always, Marty! The best part of using the extended pentatonic is by sliding up and down you never have to use your pinky except to throw up the horns!🤘🏻
This is really cool bro👌all i do is go 1-2-3 then down to 5-6 and down bk to 1-2-3 and just go all the way up into it or i add in the 7 and 6 before the first 1-2-3 and get a lil more minor feel on it
I learned that first form as the “blues slide scale” because the slides are all across the sharp 3 blue note. I wish we had standard names for all these components. Anyway, you can really do quite a lot with just this. Great lesson - this alone could make a high school guitar hero if you got really good at it.
I learned this in your in depth Tasty Licks course and it’s such a good course and I go back to it time to time to review it…. So much good stuff in there man! 🤙
Thanks to you Mr Marty Schwartz and another fellow companion Mr Guthrie trap took 2 years but now I can finally dance with my fingers oh yeah and thanks to me
Hi Marty ! Very interesting patterns. Could you make or have you a tutorial about pickings and advices for picking strings in order to play the pentatonic scales like that and play faster ? (alternate picking up/down, sweeping, sweep picking)
Marty, I can't emphasize this enough but I really can't seem to learn with tabs. All I can do is learn by ear and sight with a proper tutorial. I have been learning a lot from u because what you do is the type of teaching technique I know how to follow but I can't find a tutorial like it for Better than me by the Brobecks. I've been stuck with my eg recently and would love to keep going and learn it from you. Hope this request reaches you!
same here. tabs are vague as they don't portray certain nuances, and when my eyes see the numbers they just don't register the fretboard visual correctly unless i really take it slow. Learning by ear is so much faster and efficient. It's way better for your musicality too. Tabs hold people back!
Hey brother, Marty question when moving up and down the scale or neck do you slide on your ring finger or your index or it does not matter ? Thanks for your videos. You are the Go To man. 🙏🏽
but why can you play an e pentatonic starting on the a? im guessing it has the same notes in it, but then how do i do this in the key of c for ecample?
Marty, is the Flying V comfortable sitting down? do I have to hold the neck with fretting hand? I am considering saving up for one! Do you think I should? Why you never use a Flying V? :P
I used to play a flying v a long time ago and I really enjoyed it. My musical taste changed a bit and I got rid of it. But to answer your question when you’re sitting down you put The V of the guitar resting on your right leg if you’re right hang guitar player and slightly squeeze your legs together and it stays or if you just use a guitar strap as well hold it in place nicely. It puts you in a classical guitar position and it’s really comfortable
@@kevind3094 Thank you for the answer. I am hoping to save that much, since I sold RG550 due to it's very thin neck... Enjoy your other guitar :). Cheers
You must pay a video editor to show some graphic details on what you are playing on. Come on dude...it's already 2024 and you are still in the 90's. Lmao.
Thanks for watching! Here's a FREE Pentatonic Exercise Course: www.martymusic.com/pentatonic-scale-exercises

Still stuck on the pentatonic. What guitar scales are for the norm for guitar players? I like playing in E. Just need a new scale.
