The first guy should’ve pitched this idea to peanut butter companies directly. That would be AMAZING as part of the packaging. Just like lotion 🧴 but peanut butter and you don’t waste anything

Peanut butter pump was really smart. Less dishes to wash, get all your peanut butter used up, no mess. Overall just very convenient. Could be used in many different environments, but yes, definitely perfect for the average household. I'd certainly buy it.

the peanut butter pump seemed like a great idea but i think he could have advertised it in a more broader way. rather than just sticking to peanut butter, there are several other spreads which he could have included in his pitch. personally, I think sticking to just one product/spread can be a little constraining and less appealing with a larger/diverse audience

I work at a smoothie king and we use peanut butter in a lot of our smoothies. It is probably the most popular add on but it sucks having to wash the disher and scoop it out. The pump would be a great tool for us

Am I totally crazy or was the peanut butter pump actually brilliant and I’m shocked none of the sharks thought it was? The guy having spent his crowdfunder’s money and not even have a second physical prototype to hand the sharks is sketchy though.
Yes, there's around $ 100 thousand he should have to at least get his production underway. But the more I think about it, with four of us kids growing up in our house, a pump on this would've helped my mom and our family tremendously. I think he could have fine tuned his pitch. He just got over run by Mr. Wonderful.

He should definitely have production well underway with the crowd funding money though. To me it sounds like he spent the crowdfunding money on things other than the invention and wanted the shark’s money to replace the misused crowd funding money.
Its not about a "great idea", its if it makes Money.
For any large companies that use peanut butter, this would save them a decent amount on using up the entire jar and the speed of dispensing vs scoop/spread. It definitely has a use case but just not for a shark to come in and grow it. I hope Andy succeeds on his own, he has the right mind set of not wasting food and may really figure out an amazing product everyone could use.
These Sharks might have never even tried to make peanut butter bread on their own 🥲 We know the struggle and the mess it ll create.

That first idea has so much potential. That technology could be licensed to literally anyone who manufactures product in a bottle. Sauces, jams, peanut butter isn’t the only thing. So much potential they all just ignored.

@@stuff1784 No, but actually yes lmao! You're right in the idea, but for him specifically he just did it on Kickstarter instead. He made a kickstarter campaign, with an initial ask of 20k. Ended up making 100k, and still needed Shark money bc he used Kickstarter funds for personal use. That being said: Gofundme, Indiegogo, Kickstarter, heck even the offering plate at church-- All of these are "crowdfunding"! Because they rely on a goal/product/service being supplied and ran by anonymous donations/purchases! Hope this helps~!

The spreading nozzle, itself, has so many applications than just peanut butter. For example, he can manufacture different widths of nozzles. The pump can be used for other condiments too. The man’s only mistake is constraining himself to just peanut butter.
Honestly the peanut butter pump is a very practical product with a lot of potential for licensing to mass manufacturers and expansion into other condiments like jelly, nutella etc.
I would buy one 100%
The first guy shouldn't have made this all about peanut butter .. it could also be useful for something like Nutella , cream cheese and many more things with the same texture in a jar .. and he also should have made it with different shapes of top part so that you can choose the size and shape you want and change between them when ever you feel like it .. i think it would be really useful..

Mushroom jerky guy was brilliant. He had very little *need* to pitch to the sharks. His company was already making good headway for success. No, It was a pitch to the world and he scored. Getting a major investor was just a huge bonus.

Me and my sister bought the mushroom jerky in our local shop, it tastes pretty good and ended up buying a whole bunch, you'd be surprised at how meaty it tastes despite it being a mushroom.
Maybe it's shrooms and everyone high on it and start thinking it's meat.
i read reviews about it and a lot of people complained it was nasty. maybe their batch was bad or something went wrong because they were rushed to fulfill all those shark tank orders.

My real problem with it is that it's way bigger than a jar of peanut butter.
I saw so much potential for the peanut butter pump idea. It can be good for hygienic purposes. I personally want a pump because it will save me 10 minutes in the morning. We all know how much an extra 10 minutes helps when it comes to our sleep.
Alex's deal is "if your business fails, give me my money back, if it succeeds, I get a huge piece of it." And they accepted it. I think he's done that before too. Very smart.

I mean would you rather have 85% of 500k or 82% of 1m? It's what it boils down to. He just felt like Mark was the better partner for him, whether right or wrong

Peanut butter pump is BRILLIANT!!! I hope he doesn’t give up! It has tremendous potential! Imagine jiff peanut butter selling these little pumps with the peanut butter! You can also make the top part of the pump removable so you can store it in the fridge! I think they laughed at him and made him nervous so he couldn’t really counterpart the sharks doubts
It's an insanely good product. Commercial value is insane, any store selling products with peanut butter would want one.
It makes me happy to see so many people praising the idea of the peanut butter pump here - after he got shot down and ridiculed on Shark Tank, I felt so bad for the guy! I looked it up online and it says the product is still in "pre order" status (until 2020? maybe there's no current update) I really hope he finds success in either this idea or the next one. He seems like a cool guy and deserves it.
The slice condiments is unique but not essential. Totally cuts out people who like to dip in sauce.

Hmm... I thought at first that the peanut butter thing was a little gimmicky, but after some further thought, I can think of a market for it. At a cafe I used to work at, we used to keep large jars Of peanut butter in the fridge. We kept it in the fridge because the little blobs of peanut butter around the rim would likely attract ants otherwise. We would have to get the big tub out every time someone wanted peanut butter (and have to move a bunch of stuff out of the way doing so). You'd open the lid and there'd be crumbs and little pieces of jam through the peanut butter - it was a mess. You'd scoop out peanut butter with a butter knife scraper thing (we didn't have many of these) and the knife would be dirty and need a thorough wash before being used for something else. In the rush of lunch hour, every minute spent fumbling for tubs, taking off the stupid sticky lid and washing knives really adds up.

what he should have done was, equate how much peanut butter is in a jar after people think they have completely used it up , calculate the waste versus how many millions of bottles are sold then pitch that a company or cruiseline or hotel who uses peanut butter could save xyz amount with his invention and save time and this will be attractive to soccer moms who want quick solution and kids to not be messy... its how you sell the message and he didnt think this through...
cruise lines hotels, restaurants etc and any other business who uses peanut butter, jams, or any type of substance that is hard to get out of a jar is his customer

I don’t get it, if you can’t bring ketchup with you, how do you bring deli meat?
I camp and hike. Here's what you do: stop at a fries shop on your way to where you're camping, and ask for extra mini packets of ketchup. Free AND not disgustingly dehydrated. One of the main purposes of sauce is to add hydration. Also, if you for some weird reason really want dried out ketchup, grab a sheet of wax paper or tin foil, spread a layer of ketchup on it, turn your oven on low, and throw it in. Or do that with tomatoes--you end up with sundried tomatoes, which taste way better. TBH their idea just makes me so angry. It's mind blowing that they got a deal.
You’d think that, but it’s not really practical. Why add, what is especially fruit leathered ketchup to your sandwiches? How would you put this in a hotdog if you were camping? It’s not a big deal to carry packets of sauce with you and it’s much cheaper.

100%. Cheap peanut butter can be left out because of preservatives and the stabilizers in it but better quality and more natural peanut butter has to be refrigerated.

Kevin's point is moot. His statistics are not of the broader market but of a niche group of peanut butter enthusiasts. Enough people do NOT refrigerate peanut butter where this product could find success. The problem was not that the pump could not handle the viscosity of cold peanut butter but the inflated evaluation and lack of real sales.
The peanut butter pump is actually quite a good idea, a lot of people I know including me where we have such a busy lifestyle, 2 pumps and you have a sandwich on the go while you're running late? It would be great. The product could really be useful too for eldery and people who suffers from Parkinson's where they can make a snack on their own.
Very true, that's an audience he should have brought up. People with disabilities that don't allow them to perform the action of twisting a jar, which is actually really complicated when you have dexterity issues.
@@StopThatSquirrel Also good for moms with busy work days. Work in an angle of "Great for moms busy meal prepping!" and showed a clip of maybe some family members kids making their own lunchboxes using this and showing you can use it for peanut butter AND jelly. People eat that crap up.

The peanut butter pump is a perfect solution for house holds where certain people can’t have gluten. Just pump the peanut butter on the bread. The bread doesn’t have to even touch the nozzle and everyone can use the same jar of peanut butter.

I think the mistake of the peanut pump was focusing to much on peanut butter. In theory you could fill it with anything. Mayo, sour cream, or anything that's difficult to spread.
Plus I think he should pitch it to restaurants, cafes because they use more.
He could have also pictched it directly to the manufacturer. Because someone might nowlt buy one for themselves but they might buy one if it comes that way in the store. Awesome product tho

I can see the peanut butter pump working for families or cafés. Although I can also seeing that helping with people who have wrist problems (although that could be stretching it)

He's not wrong, you dont need a pump for lotion. You can scoop it like other beauty creams do or use a squeeze bottle, but they give you a pump anyways. The peanut butter pump not only dispenses but it also spreads, i don't have to toss another utensil in the sink to clean later. And if it works for peanuts butter i'm sure it works for jelly too, it may not seal right but i'm sure it can still pump, i would by it if not to expensive.

Peanut butter pump is a great idea! It ensures the user gets every last drop out of their jar, and hence, every single cent they paid for it!

A spatula does the same. I think the pump was too tall for most shelving and it won't work on crunchy or "natural" PB. I could see it in a school cafeteria
Plus the pump. Last basically forever.. I’ve seen more useless kitchen items sell. Like an hotdog cutter... or egg cutter.. id actually get the pump.. I eat peanut butter everyday lol

what’s crazy is the sharks don’t know this is a problem with the peanut butter, I always get my hands messy and it makes a mess plus theirs always so much peanut butter left when it gets thrown away. The pump coulda became a everyday house hold item like a spoon or a bowl. Hope he gets it going

I think if the peanut butter pump guy had been further along with his sales, and a production and distribution in place, the sharks would have definetely invested. It was just too early, and he hadn't proven the product was what people wanted yet since he hadn't shipped anything. But I think it is pretty ingenious since it could be used for many other spread and even compacted in size.

That slice of sauce was more of a sauce roll-up. Also, any chef or cook can tell you that sauces and mayos serve 2 purpose- 1. Taste and 2. Add moisture. So you are taking out the moisture and that leaves you with just a dry ass sandwich. Tasty maybe but dry.

So make actual decent food. If you know how to cook then the meat should of enough moisture in it
And also most sandwiches have lettuce, which is mostly water.
