    Broccoli Microgreens are one of our favorite micros to grow. They are not only delicious but they are incredibly healthy too! They are up to 40 times more nutrient dense than mature broccoli, They are 7 times more anti inflammatory than turmeric, and That's not even the best part!
    Ever heard of Sulforaphane?
    Studies done by Dr. Paul Talalay at John Hopkin’s University state that sulforaphane stimulates and releases the production of enzymes in our bodies that detoxify cancer-causing substances, and that it’s anticarcinogenic.
    Sulforaphane also has anti-diabetic effects for those with type 2 diabetes and improves hemoglobin A1c. Dr. Talalay’s studies also found that sulforaphane lowered fasting blood sugar levels by 6.5% and supports heart health by reducing inflammation that leads to heart disease.
    **Broccoli microgreens can contain up to 100x the sulforaphane concentration when compared to mature full-grown broccoli.**
    Here are just a few of the many articles/publications you can find about how incredibly awesome broccoli microgreens are!

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 роки тому +1

      We don't blackout most varieties. Almost all go straight from stack to lights. We do it for Arugula & Leeks as they really do better with a bit more stretch.

    Hi there. When filling your 10x20 trays with soil. How much soil are you putting in these trays? From the video seems to be almost flush with the top of the tray? Thank you 🤙🏼

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  6 місяців тому

      It's roughly 2.5qts, almost filled to the top, about 3/4 filled after leveling and pressing the soil.

    Which variety of Broccoli do you use? I’ve been trying Raab Broccoli (a sprouting broccoli type) but don’t see harvest weights like those.

      These were the Waltham 29 broccoli. We've also used Calabrese with similar great results.

    That shaker is such a good idea! (me with seed clumps all over the place) 🤣
    Edit: Can you reuse the soil?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  Рік тому

      Thanks! This shaker definitely helps prevent clumps. They're just repurposed from the kitchen. Some shaker tops have different sized holes. Smaller holes for tiny seeds like arugula & basil.
      We do not reuse the soil for micros. We take the spent trays to the chickens then compost it for the outdoor garden. 🙂

      We use shallow Bootstrap Farmer trays (link in description if you'd like to check them out)
      They're approximately 1" deep

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm

      We do not soak any small seeds, only larger seeds with thicker hulls like Sunflower, Pea, Corn, etc ...

    Do you still sell at $5 a container or have your prices gone up? I’m debating on whether or not to sell for $5 or $6.

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  8 місяців тому

      We're holding strong at $5 at the moment for farmers markets. However, a few of our retailers have taken the opportunity to increase their margins a bit. (my wholesale price unchanged though.)

    I just tried growing broccoli. I seeded radish, sunflower, peas and broccoli at the same time. Broccoli was ready at day 7. Really impressed. I soaked sunflower and peas for 24 hours before seeding. I always thought that radish was the easiest to grow but I think broccoli is faster to grow.
