    Thanks Sam for the link… it was the KEKU clips I was referring to. I thought you were clipping directly into the 80/20 slot somehow, but now I see those clips are affixed to your back inside right hand side panel and likely a similar strip on the left like you have done for the hinged doors.

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  3 місяці тому

      That’s correct. I spent a while working out how to attach to the extrusion and then quickly realised it was going to be easier to attach a strip to the extrusion and then attach to that as per normal. Has worked a treat

      Thanks for watching Daniel, be keen to see your cabinetry once done. Re the Blum Aventos and corrosion..ya hopefully reducing humidity will do the trick.
    In my experience so far with canopy door lifters I’ve only seen corrosion due to electrolysis caused from dissimilar metal components touching combined w/humidity.
    I suppose another level of corrosion protection could be spraying the components with a silicone based coating of some kind (?).

    Give some consideration to moisture in the cabinet and the effect on the hinges, I’ve had multiple tank hinges rust, even high end ones.

    In the event of (hopefully never) catastrophic failure of those hinges, do they stick open or come crashing down unhindered? Just a thought...
    As you like led lights, maybe stick some under the base of the cabinet so it illuminates the floor clearance gap of the doors?

    • @ParkersReef

      The hinges actually operate without the motor drive nice and smoothly too (that was something I should have pointed out.... damn!) So they wont come crashing at all. Yeah have thought about adding some glow to the underside, but not sold on it just yet..... :)

    I think its possibly the most gorgeous stand I've seen, while remaining extremely usable. The motorized canopy is incredible. The stand seems quite tall or am I seeing things? I personally like taller stands and think all the commercial ones are too short. How tall is it? Seems 40"+? Also, mind sharing what its made of? Other than the aluminum frame, which is obvious. Are the panels plywood or something else, and what is the finish? I suspect laminate but not 100% sure.

      Hey Max, thanks for commenting! Stand is 110cm tall.

      yeah great question! This will be a little controversial, but I am not a huge advocate of QT. Well, not home QT anyway. I do place corals into a frag tank for observation for a week or so before putting into the main display. Other than that, nothing with inverts and with fish - I only buy fish that are healthy and pest free from my lfs. Sometimes they will QT a fish for me if necessary, but often not.

    Hi Parker. Bin following your build for a while now while I was building my own. Great built and great inspiration!
    I noticed you went with the standard Blum hinges on your doors. As they are not saltwater resistant did you take any steps to rustproof those?

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  4 роки тому +1

      No, no extra precautions. I’ve used high end stainless hinges before and they eventually get surface rust too. Easier and cheaper to replace them every 3 years or so with new ones :)

    • @haydnbradbury6659
      @haydnbradbury6659 4 роки тому +1

      Hi. You would need a titanium hinge not to rust. As far as I know , no one makes a titanium hinge so replacing them in 10 years is no big deal. Blum don’t change there drilling pattern at all so it makes it easy to swap over. We have always heaps in stock so Sam can just call me for more👍

    • @ParkersReef

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  3 роки тому +1

      They are secured internally, I assume by dowels and glue? Not actually sure as there is nothing visible externally on the panel, just appears as one piece.
      Or if you mean how are they attached to the frame, they are held on with keku clips :)
