- Ermes is one tough gal, whose taken a beating over the years both physically and mentally. Throwing away her life for revenge against a monster scarier then any stand. Though within the walls of Green Dolphin she found something better then rehabilitation, she found a new family to dedicate her life to.

I like how Ermes's revenge is portrayed as completely justified and in the anime (I don't remember if this also happens in the manga) Gloria's spirit appears and hugs Ermes after she finishes Sports Maxx, a lot of revenge stories take the whole "taking revenge makes you just as bad" angle which isn't necessarily bad but it is nice to see a revenge story that doesn't take that route (and yes Polnareff's revenge story is like this too).
It's like that way in the manga too, isn't it? Jolyne goes through the whole "Hermes no revenge isn't worth it" and she's just like "nah fuck that this dude killed my fucking sister I'm not letting that go" and she defeats him and there aren't any real lasting consequences for doing so. She's incapacitated for the entire Ultra Security House Unit arc, but by the end she's fully recovered and there are no lasting injuries from the fight. For all intents and purposes every version of the Limp Bizkit fight is on Hermes's side.
The anime added Gloria's ghost, but yeah, both anime and manga have Ermes's great speech about vengueance
Yeah, revenge isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it can destroy you as a person. She never fell too far, and she had friends who were equally willing to help as well as carry her out of the darkness.
It's like Gloria went down to say thanks.
I love Inigo Montoya he still has his desire for revenge, but he controls it. He is a man of honour who seeks vengeance without harming the innocent.
Her arc is so good, her beat down against sports maxx is one of the most satisfying and raw in JoJo, with every blow she lands you can feel the emotion. I especially love in the dub how she says "they're all for MY Gloria" Instead, made me cry a bunch :^).
You should’ve seen the Jojo panel at Anime Impulse. Tiana Camacho mentioned how that one scene hit close to home. She told me before when I met her at a different convention, but she fully explained it during the panel

Ermes is the Polnareff of part 6, she wanted revenge for her sister that was killed because she wanted to protect her... and after the reset, Ermes can live in peace because her sister lived. A good ending for the character and the whole part.

Nope. Nothing in Ermes life was influenced by Pucci, only Sports Max. After the reset, Eldis (the alternative) had a better life so her sister didn't died.

Revenge can often destroy a person and Ermes didn’t deserve it that. Even after losing her sister she managed to find new loved ones and it brought out the best in her
I feel like a theme of Kiss that was missed in this video was the aspect of slapping a label on something to duplicate it, while overall damaging the original. I personally read this as a call out to Gene and Paul's drove to pit the Kiss branding on everything and anything for merch, to the point that most people these days view Kiss as a brand rather than an actual band.

Honestly, I’m kind the same. Well, I never hated part 6, just thought the ending was very disappointing. But it’s slowly starting to grow on me
@@Shxdxe I don't hate it either and I actually love the ending, it was risk taking but positive risk taking. I just don't like the part as a whole. The JoBros are weak, the enemies/enemy stands are not memorable, Jolyne had to carry the part, the whole Dio/Jotaro angle seemed like retconning "oh here's an interaction Dio happened to have BEFORE part 3 that is now the reason P6 is happening"
@@Yami_Spirit this!! Yeah like I do really like the Part 6 characters but they’re by far the most forgettable. Also, even though Dio looked so pretty in Part 6, it kinda feels like Part 6 was just an excuse to bring him back

Loved your final comment about found/blood families. Really nails home a lot of themes in Stone Ocean that are constantly overlooked by general disdain for the part.
Ermes is such a great character because of clean revenge. No one else was killed or harmed irreprebly on her path to avenge her sister, only Sports Maxx and his zombies. It was satisfying in the way Inigo Montoya's is, how Polnarref's almost was. Giving up on revenge or revenge leading to ruin is something you see so often, but rarely ever the cases were it goes right and people want and remember that. Ermes' story is great and god if I don't have a big fat lesbian crush oh her.
that true. well joylne and f.f was hurted. also a hooker was brutally murdered by flaccid pancake : sports max. even I don't swing that way joylne,Hermes,foo fighters? are my hot version of Charlie angels.when I readed the manga. espically unknowly? put sticker on his head? god that part? I imaged what he felt. that what I do when I read and play games,write,watch. but? invisible ghost zombies with super strength and climb the walls and ceilings. and punch to. the female hooker? that was cool. also kiss got same stats as star platinum. also brutal. when jotaro gives you his I'm the judge look. but? I'm trying grow my beard part underneath. to look like Hermes. and my upper moustache above my lip? to look like Scott Thompson from kids in the hall. also strings+stickers+plankton= good support team and combos. just my opinion.

I like how her story of revenge wasn't just one of self destruction but was rather righteous justice. Other than that she's probably on the low scale of anyone's favorite jobro.

It makes sense since she's one of the jobros to get the least screentime and her arc resembles Polnarref's even if it does differ. So she's the weakest link, Kakyoin who got shafted hard got more screentime and there's no way she could compete with Bucciraiti or Gyro who took over their respective parts and just had a lot more going on. She's still amazing, I love her, and at least she's a better love interest to Jolyne then Anasui is.
@@Mythicalcatjay even polnareff got more out of his arc. He got to kill vanilla ice after his quest against centerfold not to mention she tends to underestimate the situation at hand when she punches Raquel thinking he was talking nonsense or calling out maiden heaven as some sort of cheap trick despite the pucci display light show. Even getting herself caught between two automatic doors in the process ( which was hilarious by the way). But she seems like the dependable friend you can count on. She's older and tends to know her way around the block.

I remember getting extremely invested emotionally and physically with Ermes beat down of sports max, I still rewatch that beatdown to this day whenever I need a pick-me-up. It highlights one of my favorite things about Jojo’s in general is just how invested you can become in some of these characters that you barely spend time. It’s a sign of really good writing and I love it
Love a good revenge story. Ermes and Kurapika have some of the most fantastic revenge plots in anime / manga. I love loyal she is to justice and Jolyne's mission
Kiss’ ability is very reminiscent of D4C. Either being partially inspiring it or Kiss actually tapping into different dimensions in away. Just something I notice.

In my opinion Ermes's biggest problem as a character is that she completes her character arc and avenges her sister too early in the story.
Her start is standard, her revenge arc is really good, and after that she does practically nothing in the story. She doesen't even have a reason to got after Pucci, well, except of course that she's friends with Jolyne (which could be built better) and that she wants to avenge F.F (which in the manga she doesen't even have a scene to show her reaction to her death)
Considering he tried to kill her and her friends multiple times before she got her revenge against Sports Maxx, I'd say she has full reason to help go after Pucci
