- Wu Tomoki is one of the final antagonists we see in the story of JoJolion, being a member of the Locacaca Research and Development Team at the TG University Hospital. His involvement in the story comes from Wu's own personal interest in the evolution of the Locacaca as medicine. And being the perfectionist that he is, Wu tirelessly works to hammer out all the imperfections of it's usage through living testing.

The equivalent exchange with Mitsuba's foetus is genuinely the most unsettling thing in Jojolion, it helped to put into perspective how fucked up Doctor Wu was. Hope you do more stuff on Jojolion, I feel like people tend to ignore parts of the story and just focus more on the part as a whole.

No wonder why (out-of-universe) Jobin ends up liking Mitsuba’s crooked nose: it really cemented, in a very silly way, that Mitsuba really should not have taken the Rokakaka and that rejecting its results was the correct solution (especially considering she was undergoing beauty treatments).

I've counted, and Steely Dan is the band Araki has referenced the most often in JoJo, with at least 6 distinct references to the band or their work.

It's a cool way to conciliate being literally made to manipulate humans for your own gain (as rock humans are), and also looking alien
He for sure knows how to fit in human society, he sounds perfectly reasonable and is a doctor; but also his figurine is as you described, but this is jojo, so this doesn't look quite out of place for it to invalidate the first point
Doctor Wu is such a good song and it is the song that got me into Steely Dan. I highly recommend the songs Black Cow, Aja, and Royal Scam
@UCAzZaptihdyDjYB1LZ3DgWQ How about instead of saying what songs are better, just listen to their entire discography. To this day, no band has made me hunger more for their music than Steely Dan. It's a shame Becker passed away, but what him and Fagen gave was unlike any artist for their time and now.

Wu Tomoki introduced me to the song when I first starting getting into his arc, and since then it has not left its spot in my top 5 favourite songs of all time. Such a feel good, catchy song with multiple levels of depth to it that I always love hearing. Had such a great time listening to this banger on loop when I was reading the arc, and because of this I have such a soft spot for Tomoki, and just the whole arc in general.
Gotta say, you'll always be with me, Doctor Wu :)

Even with all the genuine criticism you can level at part 8, I just can't help but enjoy a lot of it
Part 8 is top 3 for me, I don't care if the story gets messy, the characters are way too good to not just love every second they are shown.
This is facts, Jojolion is definitely a controversial part (not as much any more) because of the unanswered plot points and what-not but it's a really good part.

I’m still reading Jojolion so I don’t know the full context of this dude yet but he gives me the same vibes as chocolata from GW, but like a more refined less sadistic but equally as cold approach to way they are doctors.

No, it is not. Yes, Doctor Wu's power level is low, but Awaking III Leaves' power level is really high. It's just Mitsuba not knowing how busted her stand can be.
You can compare her stand a lot to Accelerator's power. Albeit, his has far fewer limitations since it can be activated very easily, but that dude has godlike feats that Mitsuba could replicate with a bit of awkwardness. (That being Accelerator from the Toaru series.)
I think the reason why the power levels feel low is that Doctor Wu has full knowledge of the enviroment he's in because he has been working in the hospital for years at this point, so a busted stand like Awaking 3 Leaves couldn't compare to a stand user who can fully manipulate the setting they are fighting in

Not sure if it's mentioned but he kind of acts as a foil to Tonio, too. Both are highly skilled in their field and use the knowledge they've accumulated to help those they serve. But unlike Tonio, Wu's willing to scar his subjects in exchange for results instead of a few seconds of extreme pain or discomfort like with Pearl Jam.
I would like to imagine an evil Tonio with an undeveloped Pearl Jam (basically Cheap Trick) who tries to perfect his food using his stand but only causes more harm than good

No, it's not the opposite. He doesn't view the gruesome cost as something that makes it a failure because he uses doctor wu to prevent it from damaging their brains, so it's not like them dying would constitute a success to him, he just thinks curing the ailment outweighs the cost.
