I'm Shook! Biggest Fish I've Ever Caught Out The River!!

- Well this was one of those amazing short sessions where everything comes together. I had been fishing the float tube on the forgotten ponds for about 3 hours without a bite before deciding to quickly jump onto the river to save myself from a blank. I was using my new predator fly fishing setup that I was desperate to catch a fish on! I only fished for less than 3 hours, but the fishing was incredible! None stop action with the pike nailing the pike left right and centre even coming back after the flies after getting hooked up. In the last swim before returning home I had a big surprise! Enjoy!

Just when you think Chris can't possibly produce yet another incredible fishing experience, he does it. Amazing.
I second this comment
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🦕😁✌️🤞
Awesome Stuff Chris! Showing us how its done! I think it's time we take out the fly rod! Can't believe you caught them monsters!
I've just asked Chris the next time he sees you to teach Sean how to set the hook. Don't worry im on it. I'll keep trying to help 😂
One of the best fishing videos creators on UA-cam. Great content, great editing skills. Well done Chris, your channel improvement massively in the past year
Spoton 👍 been a fan for years. Always look forward to his latest drop with a nice brew. Excellent viewing
@@mrtropicalwalsh5114 same here mate. And I notice how the content improved a lot, it’s way more professional. I see a great future for him
So true
Good watching 👀 👌 👍
@phillip lloyd yep love his content. I'm from Norwich in the UK and was fishing today and got talking to another angler. He advised me to watch a guy on UA-cam. and I kid you not it was only the ginger Fisherman he was talking about 😃
You are one hell of a good fisherman. I have been fishing for over fifty years and have always been obsessed with Pike, you catch more in a short session than I catch in a month.
Your passion and perseverance is obsessive and inspirational mate. I don't have the same motivation as you anymore but I always have to get the rods out after watching you go at it. Keep it up mate, it's great viewing 👍🏻
He's an amazing angler. No doubt about that. Makes it look easy- and it really isn't.
You always make it look so easy! Cracking video as always Chris! Thank you!
Superb, Chris. The well rounded angler not hesitant to pick up the fly rod. You ROCK !!
Haven’t even fully watched yet and I know it’s gonna be a good video
Hard to believe so many lads watched the video and don't hit the like.
99% eaten
Never clicked on a video so fast when I seen the fly rod, YEEEES Chris the fly rod, it’s an absolute game changer mate, so much more fun on the fly rod🎣🎣 will never look back to the spinning rod, really hope to see more fly fishing videos Chris 🤜🏻🤛🏻🎣🎣
WOW! Another blinding video Chris. Stunning pike (defo in the 20's :). Really appreciate your videos and all that goes into them. Keep up the great work and thank you. Jon
You are amazing . So many pike in the river too. Looks like a good trout stream as well
Just like to say thank you for sharing your experience AMAZING 😊
I don't tend to watch full UA-cam videos, I find myself flicking through the majority of the videos I watch, but this one I watched every second, inlove fishing but fly fishing has always eluded me and not really interested me until now, great video mate
Delighted for you Chris! Red letter day on the fly no less. Some lovely pike there.I'd say that big girl at the end could be a 20 by march.. I'm glad you're including a bit of pike on the fly to your repertoire . Keep up the great work. Cheers
It’s great that you, Carl, Tom and Sean are all fishing together and collaborating it’s making for great content!!
Fantastic video! That river looks like an amazing spot to fish, such clear water and some beautiful fish. That big one was just crazy seeing it come out, which looked like not even that big a river! Great content as ever 👏
What a video of a stunning session Chris. As a Piker i am very envious mate. That was not much shy of a '20' mate the length of her and the head. Love the inwater waders angle of this video too. Yes we often see the takes from the bank level and the clear water but this POV angle was brilliant. Delighted for you and that stunning croc at the end. The missus deserves a bunch of flowers too 😜👍
Fantastic Chris - pike on the fly is always exciting but that fish was really something - I would be jealous if I wasn’t so pleased for yer!
That’s it now Snag Bro , Carl and now The Ginger Fisherman, got to be a good watch for certain 🙏🏻 love to see all them together what a laugh that would be ❤️
Amazing last fish…..brilliant to watch. Thanks for sharing Chris.
Great session, Chris, you are a MASSIVE inspiration, my friend!
I've not long moved to Cornwall, but if you ever fancy some sea fishing, there'll always be a place at our table for ya dude!
I can’t believe how clear the water is seeing how much rain we’ve had.
Cracking session 👊🏻
Fantastic vid and fantastic fish Chris. It just goes to show how deadly fly fishing for Pike can be...and not just for smaller fish. And you are right. That was an absolute unit! Beautiful colouration and I'd say between 18 and 19 lb. One Chub or Perch and that's definitely a 20 pounder. A return visit is in order for the not too distant future, I hope.☺
Totally agree. I said 18 give or take
Great session - congratulations! I started out as a teen fly-fishing for trout in Montana, but can hardly imagine what it is like catching big pike on a fly rod. Probably great fun!
One of your best fly rod video!!!
Look like a real nice meter plus pike welldone Chris!!!
The first big pike was also a real nice one too catch!!!
I swear that last pike looked a 20....head was massive....very skilled and easy to watch videos. 💯
Absolutely wonderful! Great to see you getting the fly rod out!
Great to see you fly fishing Chris. Not the most popular method but definitely one of the most satisfying ways to catch fish.
mate i am always so jealous after watching your videos. you have beautiful, clean waters in UK. every stream that you can easily spit from bankside to another hides huge pikes, perches, chubs or barbels of the size that i have not seen on my own eyes before. every session you catch number of fishes much better than my PBs, love it!
I don’t know where he finds them. Most rivers in the uk are not like this!
@@brawmull Narnia, South UK
I loved your persistence on that pike. You knew where he was and didn't give up. Good on you.
Awesome!! Thanks Chris 👍
Hi Chris, wonderful video! Your words “wonderful to get a pike on a fly rod” how true. I am a fly fisherman from late teens, now almost 68. I have tied flies to a very high standard for almost 50 years. However, as previously mentioned in my comments, I admire all fish, and not all can be caught on fly.
My flies catch fish and when fishing for trout in rivers, lochs and reservoirs, I have caught innumerable chub, perch, the odd roach and dace.
Nick from York
Chris has caught bream and tench on a fly/jig, which is pretty cool. I was with a friend fishing for big eels with a rudd deadbait - he caught a rudd on his deadbait, a bit over a pound in weight. We were surprised.
A few years ago, on a cold Christmas day, I caught a 9-10lb or so yellow Koi on a fly at a friend's trout fishery in Kent (Springhill) - that was a bit of a surprise too!
There's a little commercial still water in East Yorkshire that I sometimes fish. It's not really serious fishing... just a bit of fun for the huge variety of fish in it. I sometimes take a fly rod just to see how many different species and varieties I can catch once the fish are up in the water and feeding frenziedly. So far I've managed to catch chub, orfe, roach, rudd, common carp, golden orfe, blue orfe, perch, golden rudd, crucian carp, skimmer bream, small tench and even, heaven forbid, a small barbel on the fly rod Even more ridiculous was when I caught a goldfish, just over a pound and a half, on a little white fly. You can have brilliant fun on a fly rod with coarse fish. I first learned how to use a fly rod when I was very young on the Ouse in York catching bleak, dace, little chub and the odd roach and you can spice up a day on one of those horrible commercial carp puddles if you target the carp on the fly. You don't need a southern chalk stream or a Scottish salmon river to have fun with a fly rod.
An excellent watch again! Really must try fly fishing for Pike, looks like so much fun!
Wow Chris! What a session! I think you owe Tom and Sean a pint for using the Snagged Bro jig fly to catch that beast at the end. Awesome video 🤘👏🐊🎣💯💥
best vids on you tub,e iv been fishing 50 years and learn something from you every time.
brilliant video ! Great to see do many Pike caught on the fly I think I need to be fishing the rivers down south!
You are the best fisherman on UA-cam Sir.Yiu inspired me now to get myself a fly rod 🤣Thank you for entertaining us after a busy day at work. Please keep it coming 👍
More of this!!what an epic session, best video to date I think, congrats bro 👊🏼
Fly fishing has never called to me. Love watching you do it though! What a great trophy sized pike. Congratulations on a going home late, with good reason!
Massive pike Chris, what a whopper . Some fantastic pike fishing . Brilliant on a fly rod too 👍
Havnt fished for pike before but just watching this is making me wanting to get back out fishing for trout can't beat catching fish on the fly
Never tried pike on the fly. This video has really encouraged me to give it a try. Cracking video mate 👌
Great video! Your lucky to have caught such a big fish! I was salmon fishing today and didn’t have a single bite 🎣🎣👍🏻👍🏻
Another great pike video.. never tried fly fishing
Very interesting
Few of the pike look like they been in some battles
Thanks for sharing
Absolutely cracking fish. Keep up the good work, love the show.
Ooof! Great session, great fish to end with!! Well done Chris 🎉🎉
Next time you see Sean and Tom, do us a favour. Teach Sean how to set the hook. 😂
the fly fishing videos are great!! Please make more of them!!
That must of been one of Shaun's flies, We all know Tom cant catch pike lol
Wow what an incredible trip! Just goes to show that you never know what you will catch. Great job !
Another great vid Chris 👍
Cant believe the number of speci fish u have caught over the years and you still never carry scales !!
It wud do my head in if i caught a poss pb but had nothing to weigh it with 😱😱😱
Yet again another cracking video chris, some cracking fish too 👍 last one's an absolute stoncker.
All done on your new rod as well, christened indeed.
O'h by the way, I never got the reel i won.
All you need to do now is catch a bigger one. Well done.
Great job Ginger im watching you 2years along and always I'm surprised how effectively and nicely you work with all kind of fish's. Also your karma by the water unbelievable.
Good stuff Chris. Great action 👍🤜
That was bloody awesome Chris!
Great video.. That last Pike.. wow. :) Top stuff :)
Nice work Chris, always fun on the fly.
That was amazing! More fly fishing videos please!
Happy days with that session Chris! Tom and Sean’s fly doing you proud 👌
Absolute belter, some cracking fish and a brilliant way to try for them 👍🎣🐟
Thanks for another AMAZING video. I’m trying to get a (bait casting) friend out so I can teach him how to fly fish and this video should be the perfect way to entice him to give it a try!!!
That looked great fun mate....the markings on the big un were amazing...a 20lb fish all day long 👍
That was an absolute unit of a pike!! Amazing Chris 👏 🙀 😯
Sweet! I have another 2 months on ice fishing here in Canada but one of my first open water fishing sessions will be fishing shallow bays with my 10 weight fly rod looking for nice spring pike in the kayak. This is getting me pumped up!
Snagged Bro won’t let you live this down after it was their lure .. they’ll probably claim it lol
Anything to break a blank
@@iamrathercool12121they caught a PB tent the other day 🤣
@@jordanhayes1080 - that made me 😂
Beautiful Pike Chris. I've had a few over the years and its difficult to be accurate of course but I'd say in the 16-20 bracket. Regardless the specific size....dam well done sunshine....outstanding ....and on a fly rod to boot. Oh yeah 🙂
My money was on 18lb🤷♂️
Great vid mate some advice if I may 😂… don’t strike like you would usually with lures but instead jerk the rod backwards keeping the rod pointed at the fish as the 9wt rod has not got enough back bone to set the hook well .I usually jerk the rod back 2 times to set the hook with a 9 wt it takes some getting used to but the hook up rate will increase 👌
Good way to have good hook set is to point with your rod on the fly and strike it with your left hand where is your line. Dont hook set with your rod💪love your videos👍
@@michalhluchnik124 agree with you. Strip striking is what you need to do. I’ve lost a lot of pike not setting the hooks properly.
Strip set, strip set, then strip again... Then you can lift the rod into the fish. You'll lose fish otherwise
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing I bought the Saltwater version Predator, I cought a salmon, on the second outing. A cracking rod and reel, I can't Spey Cast, properly after the surgery I've had, this outfit is brilliant, thanks and all the very best for the future. Your's Bill Smith.
Great result Chris-what a way to christen the new rod🙂. Please, though, always consider wearing glasses when whipping pike flies backwards and forwards……. eyes don’t grow back😉.
Great watch Chris would like to see you play the fish on the reel nothing better than the sound of a fly reel noise Thanks for great videos.
What a brilliant session Chris!
Happy days :)
I've not fished since a teenager, but recently decided to take it up. Just a bit of simple float fishing for now. But I'm loving all the pike vids I've seen recently. Takes me back to when I was a nipper and being fascinated by the one in a case on my uncle's living room wall. 30 pound monster she was! He caught her in Berkshire in 1979. A bloke offered him a grand for her on the bank but my uncle turned him down, saying that it was the catch of a lifetime.
Great vids my man👍
Brilliant stuff Chris, makes me feel very tempted to try out the river Thame near where i live, approx 300 yards away Aylesbury near to the Bicester road bridge.
That is a specimen pike at the end great catch on any one’s books. You definitely can fish, watched quite a few of your videos and your ability to catch fish is a skill that is gained through a lot of experience and patience. You dont land them all and that is fishing we all know happens to the best. I gotta get my adventure head bk on and get out and stalk the rivers again. Keep the videos coming as I’m learning stuff every video.
Well done! Quite the exciting session! Makes me think a fly fishing chub video might be in order this coming year?
Great fishing. And what a way to break in a rod! Thanks for the video! Fantastic as usual. 🐳👍
Great video fella , well done 👏 if I was the guess that big girl was at least 17 and a half as it did have much in its belly ,but in spawning time end of next month it will definitely push 20lb as it is a cracking look pike , again well done and tight lines for 2023 mate 🤞🤞🎣🎣
You have much respect for the fishes. Great!
That is a belter of a video mate you sure have some great fishing near you. That pike 17 plus very hard to judge on video but a great catch 👍 happy new year
Happy new year Chris, thanks for your videos
Great to see you on the fly rod mate👍🏻
Great video about Pike! That would be a good canal to stock stock Largemouth and smallmouth bass in
Good to see you on the fly, it’s very effective. Easy to unhook a pike on a debarbed single hook. Get yourself a line tray it makes life so much easier. If you find yourself bumping the fish try strip striking.
Great stuff
That is mighty fun compared to lures…. Clean looking river.. it’s a must go for me.. well done mate
What a beautiful location and some cracking fish Chris. 👍
Wow! What a fish. Would love to see fish for trout on the fly more.
Must have been close to 20... very long fish but not really fattened up yet. What an incredible catch all the same. Very well done mate.
Wow! Impressive! You know how to use a Spinning rod setup, a Baitcaster rod setup, and fly fishing rod!!!
Wow!! Incredible 👍😀
Incredible !..those fish hanging out in such shallow clear water....on the Snagged Bro hybrid lure ......cool...
That was a huge pike, the last one! Congratulations ☝💪🎣.
wow Chris what a session, whata fish! excitng thanks for posting this
Hi Chris. Just a bit of advice, When striking into pike with a fly rod pull the line more than striking with the rod you’ll have way more hookups. Even though it’s a chunky 9wt it’s still a flimsy rod at the tip.
Nice one, Ginge.
This was awesome!!
Well done mate! Great video and an amazing fish.
What a monster, great session but I wouldn't upset the Mrs by being late this proving not only are you a great fisherman but also brave as well
Great vid, some fish at the, I reckon around the 20 mark for sure
Chris top video! Love the fly set up gonna have a go now badly wanna get the rod out now 😂 well done 👍
Fantastic to watch. I'm a lifelong fly fisherman relatively new to pike on the fly and love it. I love the freedom and mobility of fly fishing as Chris has shown here.... minimal kit, maximum results. I think someone has mentioned it below but strip striking on the fly is key..... sets the hook better. I know it's bad manners to ask but what river is that?! Looks chock full of pike!
