As a 70 year old angler ,, i must say it ,,your vids are the most enjoyable fishing vids i've seen anywhere ,,Your skill and enthusiasm comes out in drroves ,, Very well presented and terrific content and photography ,the underwater stuff is in a league of it's own , You obviously have access to a really beautiful ,,well stocked river ,,, I look forward to each vid as it comes out ..As i got older i have become rather immobile due to a very badly injured hip ,,so fishing is very difficult at the moment ..Well done Chris ,,,way up there with the late great John Wilson ,,Never lose that fabulous smile ,,you could light up a room .
I hope your injury isn't too bad and you can recover from it. Fellow fishermen are always there for you when you need them, so maybe ask a local fisherman to take you with them. And you can always ask family members to take you to a fishing spot. I wish you all the best. And good luck catching them!
Chris, I live in NZ but spent my teenage years fishing the canals and rivers in the London suburbs and Home Counties. Your videos take me right back. Wonderful.
Love how you had the consideration to check the pikes mouth for any other hooks even during the excitement of it all. That's good practice for any pike fisherman. It should come as no surprise that a big heavy fish like that's not always going to be landed by those who hook it and might indeed have someone else's hooks stuck somewhere in that big crocodile sized mouth.
The adrenaline you get when you see a big fish will always stay with you I had a 21lb pike in February and I'll never forget it I was shaking like anything
I caught an Otter like that one in Derbyshire a couple of years ago using a pogo stick and some nettle twine, my goodness it was a battle so well done on your catch too Sir!
So many people, fishing and non fishing folk alike, will be shocked to see this absolute beast coming out of a canal. WHAT a catch. Eat your heart out Jeremy Wade! Superb content Ginger and much appreciated.
I Love the Gentle Way The Pike is Returned to the Water...Calm & Respectful to The Fish 👍Congratulations on your PB Was Wonderful To Watch & Share Your Happiness
Amazing! Good job! I've been watching this channel for years now and I can't think of anyone that deserves this more than you. Your passion and determination is truly unsurpassed :)
Canals are underated, there are some lovely fish in my local canal but most people think there's only roach ,perch, and gudgeon ,there's pike bream even chub and carp ,an excellent video ,very well narated by the ginger fisherman ,I could chuck a line with that fella and chew the fat for a couple of hours
I live in Northern Ontario, Canada home of massive pike and the one you landed would even be a beauty here. Nice catch and patience landing that beast! Love your channel, keep it going :)
Chris , delighted for you a top-class fish. I have been over "30" on two occasions but my most memorable was a 20 which took a plug in about 18 inches of water right at my feet. I allowed the plug to rise, wound down into it, and pulled as soon as the plug moved she lunged at it so focused and tense she never saw me. Your first 20lb fish super pleased for you. Js
Congratulations Ginge it's very well earned & much deserved. I was holding my breath when it took the Rat. I hope that Danny returns the good wishes : ) 2 youtube Canal twenties in a week it doesn't get much better.
Well done. Absolute monster. Buzzing for you. Took me 10yrs to get another 20lb plus, but that was in a big water. Started cat fishing last summer in lakemoore fishery in crewe. Two of us went, two nights. Caught the place on a feeding frenzy 369lb of cats betwwen us in 48 hours. Biggest 48lb. I'm so hooked. Give cats a go. You won't look back.
So pleased for you mate, just love your respect and admiration for the sport and the results that it can bring through perseverance, when I fished I was just the same ,highlight for me was a beautiful 27lb specimen which was amazing, but was just as happy being out by the river catching the odd Jack or two , keep them rods active my friend and stay safe
Got to be honest you have inspired me to go for pike .I've learned a lot of stuff about handling and safety of the fish I am after from your vids .keep up the good work .hopefully I will get a couple of nice fish this season .but if not I will still enjoy getting on the banks and trying .
Well done ginge.....I'm so happy for you..a canal 20 is a very special fish ...I've had 4 canal 20s myself, 3 of them on the fly rod & the other one on deadbait but that's over the course of 40+ years fishing ! Again..well done m8.
That was a belter Chris, such a fight loved it when your reel every so often would scream off when that Big Girl was letting you know she was not done yet, it was a really long pike it looked, anyway well done on your new Pb, video as always was number 1.
Fair play mate a real canal 20. I've seen some waters described as canals when they're clearly canallised big wide rivers. But that is some fish from a proper little cut! Congrats 👏 👏 👏 very impressive. Would have loved to see her pop up with Roland hanging out of her chops, but great fish non the less. Thanks for sharing your experiences 🙏
That was totally an awesome experience for you. I am in awe. There are canals here in the Veneto or Italy and I hope to catch something like that. Way to go!
Rly nice mate! Caught my pb pike in the summer this year, whilste carp fishing with a boilie. It straight up took the boilie and it was around 109 cm long and i think maybe around 20 pound aswell.
I am soooo chuffed for you Chris!! You work so hard on these vids and then kindly impart your knowledge on to us plebs :). Personally, I have learnt o much from you over the past 18 months (newbie, me) and I am grateful to you that I might (one day) catch a double figure. Your beautifully shot vids are AWSOME and I am so glad that you able to have this 'work'/family/UA-cam balance.......so, just THANKS, I guess.
Ha ha “jumbo XXL net ready” First time for everything Chris 😂! I doth my cap and knuckle my brow to you sir, beautiful fish and as many have said well deserved with all the hard work you put in 👍🏻
What a legend! I was bricking it watching you fight that beast! Thanks for the videos as always mate! Most thrilling fishing I've watched in a long time
Real interesting watching the hit using a bobber like that. Your big Northern was a nice fish anywhere in the world. I'm inspired now to get out more and I thank you for that.
Ginger came across this video whilst whatching the normal crap about people with so much they have to flaunt it what a good video just like being in a fish tank I subscribed straight away so please keep it up 10 out of 10 m8
good job mate .....nice release too......i love fishing quiet gray days like that....im looking out my window at 6 inches of snow in western n.y.....wishing i was there with you....nice canal....good luck next season brother.
Thanks , you just helped me find a use for my snake's refused food lol what a monster pike from a canal! Just realised I was twisting and turning my phone like i was playing that beauty 🤣🤣🤣
I did not realize it was such a monster until you held it up then waw! what a size. I did not know that large pike stop eating and have periods of inactivity, so thank you making good fishing interesting too.
Awesome fish, great work landing it! Gave me the sensation of all over again of catching a Pike over 20 lbs here in MA. 5 years ago. Major props doing it from the shoreline. Hope you land another giant soon.
It's hard enough to target 1 species of fish successfully. I've never seen any angler with the ability to target ONE SPECIFIC FISH. I've seen chris do it twice now, here with this absolute giant of a pike, and a few months ago where he managed to rescue a pile with 2 float rigs stuck down its throat. Chris you are a true master angler mate. A credit to the sport. Keep it up.
I spent a lot of my holidays Pike fishing in NI in the 70s. Anything caught under 1/2 lb was used as bait anything 1lb to 3lb was let go anything bigger up to 10 lb was dinner. Their were some massive Pike caught then but the fisheries decided to poison a lot of the pike lakes and restock them with game fish as they could change a lot more for the licence. Biggest pike I saw pulled out was about 4 1/2 foot long I dont know the weight but it was carried in a wheelbarrow and its head and tail hung over the ends. I miss those days. Well done on your 20.4lb I hope the Mrs and the kids got better and you didnt make them re live the monster catch.lol
I don't fish any more haven't for years love your videos driving is the most exciting method had my best ever fish on a roving trip keep up the good work
Hey Chris, congrats, 1st 20lber, from the canal, those fish are few and far between on such limited waters. The fact that you'd identified her on a feeding spree, went back and bagged her, well deserved Big fist bump! Rich
I love pike fishing and do it regularly on the river medway we have some monsters mypbis a 32lb but have seen a huge 43lb come out you can't beat the thrill of striking and a big pike paddle slapping the top of the water to get the adreneline going well done
An absolute Croc and stunning fish for the Canal and in mint condition , makes you think how old they are in the canal to get that big, absolutely love you content and a well deserved 😎👍🏻🎣 let’s hope she gets to grow bigger .
Very nice, canals hold some true monsters here in the netherlands aswel. It seems to be always in the place you least expect them. I like the idea of fishing with rat, wil try it soon. 👍

I’m a carp fisherman myself, but seeing a 20 pound pile is like seeing a 40lb common. Incredible fish man keep em coming!
Crazy how big the difference is isn’t it a 20 pound carp to an 20 pound pike it’s mad 🤣
@@braderzng5701 it's absolutely insane, over here in the states we have muskie and they're even more mind-blowing
