A) the Egyptian player in the cinematic worships Osiris.
B) they got two Pharaohs to show off the different abilities that he has (the first Pharaoh to show how to empower buildings, and the second Pharaoh to show his strength against myth units and his ability to speed up construction).

It just hit me:
When the pharao is empowering the monuments in the cinematic, no sunlight is displayed on the monuments. This is because the programming [triggers] in the map editor is (to my knowledge) not advanced enough to create an interaction with a unit that isn't spawned when the scenario begins (e.g it is not possible to spawn a ship, and then use triggers to cause an army to garrison in that ship; the ship has to be there in the first place). As a result, what you see here is not actually the pharao empowering the building; he is simply doing the empowering animation (with no real effect, purely visual).
The sun does appear over the barracks, since that building already exists when the scenario begins.

I believe you can actually look at the tutorial cinematics inside the Map Editor and that is exactly how it works as you described.
Taking a look at these maps is an excellent way to learn how to make custom cinematics and scenarios 😁

The main appeal the Egyptians have is passively gaining favour.
Dedicating a portion of your population to pray, or having to be on the offensive to gain favour was what really turned me off from the Norse and Greek factions.

Idi Amin Dada is the African faction's main hero. He can encourage villagers to gather fasters by telling them they'll be fed to crocodiles if they do not complete their tasks on time. He also has an attack bonus against Indians.
