    Oh fancy! The concept of "taking things to the powder coater" is a good one too, maybe I'll look into that once I visit a proper metal supplier during business hours 🤣

    Hello Tim, congratulations on your channel growing like crazy! I have a small channel also that is all about welding now. My question is, how is your channel growing so fast? Is there any certain thing you are doing or using to help you grow? What is your technique to get views?
    Thanks!

  • @mwinner101

    Speaking of shop tools, do you have a good recommendation of a good tube notcher for aluminum tube? I’m looking for 0-55° range and 3/4” OD and up.
    I’ve been googling but have had no luck.

    • @TimWelds

      I just have a cheap one that I got off of Amazon. It’s not awesome, but does the job. If I want something to fit really nicely, I just cope it by hand.

    • @mwinner101
      @mwinner101 2 роки тому

      @@TimWelds That’s what I’m seeing too. I think there are a dozen manufacturers using the same model and just applying their own stickers to brand it.
      They look a bit funky but worth a shot since they’re so cheap. Thanks for the reply.

    Do you have any comments on why you picked the m600 over the classic JD squared bender? A tube bender is one of the next things I plan to add to my shop. Thanks.

    • @TimWelds
      @TimWelds  2 роки тому +3

      3 reasons that I picked this over JD2:
      1. It doesn’t have to be mounted to the floor (I don’t have space for that)
      2. It bends vertically up rather than sweeping around, which requires less open floor space
      3. The air over hydraulic system is a lot less work than rowing the boat on one of those manual benders
      All that said, JD2 benders work well too and have been used make a lot of good stuff.

    Hey tim just curious what is the thickness of the outer plates and the big round one? Im debating on buying one of these kits as well but it’s hard to tell what thickness they are. Im guessing 1/4” but they almost seem thinner then that

    • @TimWelds

    Very cool and well thought out. Up to what size and wall thickness can you bend on this unit?

    • @TimWelds
      @TimWelds  2 роки тому +2

      I was pretty impressed with it. The capacity depends on the particular model. There’s a chart on their site that shows the different capacities. This is the HD, which is the medium one. It’s rated at .188” wall thickness on 2” diameter tubing. At 1.5” diameter, it can handle solid bar.

    What radius 1” die did you choose?

    • @TimWelds

    what diameter tube will it work with? are dies extra?

    • @TimWelds
      @TimWelds  2 роки тому

      It goes up to 2”, I believe. You do need a die for each size you want to bend. The dies are pricey, so I’m going to add them one by one as I have work for a particular size in the shop.

    Nice, but kind of bulky. I can almost fit the round parts into my powder coat oven.

    • @TimWelds
      @TimWelds  2 роки тому +1

      It is kind of big...now I just need to figure out where to put it. On the other hand, more compact manual benders have to be mounted to the floor, which is probably worse. What kind of powder coat oven do you have?

    • @melgross
      @melgross 2 роки тому

      @@TimWelds it’s really a lab oven. The inside is 28 wide, by 17 deep by 17 high. The problem when you have too many things in your shops, is that you can’t always get what you want in a big enough size. So my welding and powder coating are not done in my large basement, where my other shops are, but in my garage, which is a two car. But my house is from 1925, so it’s not a large two car. But my 14” lathe is there as well, along with deep steel shelving units. I built a powder coating spray booth, which has to have room.
      You know, when you start, you think that you’ve got a lot of room. But as you accumulate things over time, that room disappears.
