  • Malasada are fried doughnuts originating from Portugal which is quite similar to the Tongan keke isite. The custard filling and sugar coating is what caught my attention and I thought it would be a fun treat to make. I attempted and lets just say it was deee-licious! (Seriously). Hope you all enjoy!

    Hello there wanting to try to make malasadas and your recipe sounds great but what type of vinegar would you use for this recipe? tia

    • @TasteoftheSouthpacific

      I just used white vinegar

      Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I went ahead and tried them without the vinegar because I wasn't sure and they came out perfect. Thanks for the great recipe. I doubled everything and made about 25 of them and my family loved them. Again thanks.

    Do you really not whisk the yeast and milk for it to mix? Do you just leave it like that, on top of the milk? This is the 2nd video of Malasada recipe i've seen that did not whisk the yeast and milk to mix it together.

    • @TasteoftheSouthpacific
      @TasteoftheSouthpacific  4 роки тому

      Well its up to you if you want to whisk. Yes, I left the yeast for 5 mins so it can activate.

    This is not malasadas, it’s just fried donut dough.

  • @yadienan

    i thought malasada is something really special, its just a donut, 3 for $10 in hawaii, so f$ck it i did not even try it, everything in hawaii is overrated

    • @fabulouslyclever7843
      @fabulouslyclever7843 11 місяців тому +1

      They are NOT just a donut! A Hawaiian malasada has a slightly thicker and chewier exterior and a different internal structure than regular donuts. It is hard to see that beautiful dense but light structure on the filled donuts. Also, one place dips them into a sugar syrup and then into the sugar. That way, you get these crispy bits of crunchy sugar. Getting a filling just makes them more of a flavor bomb. We don't mind that you are not a foodie. Just don't come here insulting Hawaiian Food Culture.
