Larry Bird is the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 club, the only person in NBA history to be named Rookie of the Year, 3 point Champion three straight years, MVP three times straight (When competing against Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Dr. J, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy and many more), Finals MVP, All-Star MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. Also Hall Of Fame Head Coach Pat Riley once said " If I had to choose a player to make the winning shot of a game. I would pick Michael Jordan, but if I had to pick a player to make a shot to save my life. I would pick Larry Bird."
@@MarkKolter-jj7egover 4 seasons, he was close enough in two seasons that the other two seasons, which were true 50-40-90 seasons, put the 4 year average at the 50-40-90 mark.
Bird grew up with older brothers and played with the black waiters at the hotel in town. He said they were the best players in town. He was just having fun.
That last play deserves more context. He actually hit 3 game clutch shots in that game. His first shot was called off due to time out. The 2nd shot was to tie the game to go to overtime. The 3rd shot was to win the game in overtime.
Nice reaction. A lot of people don't realize how good Bird really was. I have him as 1a and 1b with Jordan. Delve into his other videos. He has a ton, the ultimate mixtape, the best passer of all time, the best Michael jordan vs Larry Bird story ever told, and he's got like 29 more trash talk videos, this one was light work
Im a fellow southern Indiana boy who grew up less than an hour away from Mr Bird. We still argue of the time Bird was cooking three pointers in a shoot-around. Did he hit 79 or 80 in a row? He is pushing 68 years old, and in Indiana he remains a Legend. In my opinion, Bird is the most complete player and the clutchest shooter to ever play basketball!
You just made my day! Larry Legend! Please, pretty please, oh favorite UA-cam personality AB, do Larry's Ultimate Mix Tape and then Courtship of Rivals.
My favorite one isn't in that video. Kevin McHale tells the story. Coming out of a timeout for the last play of regulation the Celtics drew up a play to tie. Bird tells Ainge to ignore the play and just get him the ball. Tells Phoenix's bench that he is tired of them and is fixing to hit a 3 to win and go home. Takes the 3 in front of the Phoenix bench, turns around points at them and yells "Told ya so!". The ball goes in and he runs to the locker room with McHale. There is more to it and McHale tells it better but it is a great story.
While attending college Larry's team was playing mine and we heard they had a future all American. During warm ups we tried to guess which black player he was! Well we were wrong! He beat our league champion team and set our arena scoring record. Peace from Northern Michigan. Love your reactions.
He was Savage.. I am LMAO listening to the opposing players now giving Larry Legend respect.. They all say unless you played against him you didn't know just how good he was. The slow, chubby, white guy.. took you to church.
I love Larry! He was an all around player who worked as a TEAM, he didn't need to hog the ball all the time. BEST passer ever! I'd love to see clips of you playing! By the way Larry and Magic changed the game and brought basketball to the forefront. Before them, basketball was not as popular for tv. It is also important that MJ told all his teammates to NEVER talk to Larry ........ because Larry was the best trash talker!
Chuck had the nickname Rifleman. He said Rifleman is in the building and I am going Bird hunting. Just fired Larry up. Bird actually liked Chuck though. Hired him to work for the Pacers.
He spent literally his entire high-school and college basketball career getting double-teamed by his opponents. Because it was the only way they had a prayer of containing him.
I too was all about the Bulls. My husband when we had got married my Mom asked who his favorite football team. Heck I hadn't a clue, she and I looked so damn disappointed when he said the Browns. Mom asked if I was sure I wanted to marry him! He made up for it as he was a big Celtics fan. She enjoyed Bird but what made her happy was to see the Celtics and Lakers play each other. You also couldn't say anything bad about Jordan. Once my husband and I were visiting and that's when he finally realized how much of a sports fan my Mom was....she had 5 TVs going with a different sport on each one so she could walk the house and know she would be fine with what was playing. Yes, I'm same. I just introduced my daughter to hockey. She's 28 and really didn't care for the pro sports we watched. She lives near Boston now. Good grief I've created a monster! She's suppose to be a Blackhawks fan!
I was a diehard Lakers fan in the 80s and my husband was a diehard Celtics fan (Boston born and bred). When the Lakers won the championship at Boston one year, the LA. Times took out a full page announcement that said: Celtics Wilt in the Garden. It caused a lot of pain for my husband because I cut it out and stuck a magnet to it on our refrigerator…the entire post-season he had to see that! Serious fans🤣
MJ said Bird taught him how to trash talk. MJ also ordered all his teammates to never say a word to Bird. He knew trash talking Larry was a sure way of making Bird's play rise to an even higher level.
If you haven't, you definitely should check out a compilation titled "Larry Bird Was LEGENDARY During His Prime! 1985-86 Highlights | GOAT SZN", you'll see just how ruthlessly Larry Joe pulls up on peoples faces, running the league.
I grew up just outside Boston in the 80’s. The Celtics/Lakers rivalry was EVERYTHING! Larry had ice running the his veins. I met ML Carr when he came to my school to do an anti drug presentation and I got rebounds for him.
I still say the best Larry Bird story was from Dominique Wilkins during their 4th quarter shootout. When Larry told Dominique: "We both deserve to win this game, but somebody's got to go home." Sure Larry would trash-talk everyone. But, there were a group of players that he respected and he always let them know.
My personal favorite is one that got cut drastically in this video (as well as in a few others out there): it's the time that both Larry Bird and Dr. J got ejected. Larry had been absolutely dominating Dr. J, and his trash talking was pointing out the number of points each player had scored so far in the game. By the time the score got to 42 to 6 (in Larry's favor), Larry made the comment that maybe it was time for Dr. J to retire. That's when Dr. J went for Larry's throat, Charles Barkley grabbed Larry from behind, and Dr. J and Larry traded a few punches on the court. It's the only time either man was ejected from an NBA game.
Thanks 😊! I love Larry Bird. I went to IU, and became a Kentucky fan when Pitino took a team of farm boys to final four in 1992. Wow, I got off track. I'm old. Bird got it done ruffling feathers.
Michael Jordan trash talk was crazy but you gotta remember, for him to become the GOAT he had to survive the most talent-rich era of the NBA history, the 80s.. and all the players in the 80s agreed Larry Legend was the best. Most of Larry reactors who had him top 20, top 10 etc, they put him at top 3 at least after watching him. Another player who could grow on you like that is Hakeem Olajuwon. There is a video called “Hakeem Olajuwon is way better than you think”, sadly can’t put the link, but you should check it out. Btw great reaction bro
Larry bird is the goat of trashtalking. The stories are endless, and he influenced the trash talking game more than michael jordan. Actually, jordan and reggie both openly say they learned how to talk from larry bird As for other videos, personally i love seeing basketball fans learning more about hockey. Its a great sport that has a lot of similar principles and team plays, where basketball knowledge is highly transferrable (i.e., spotting open passing lanes, shot blocks, steals and poke checks, shooting form, screens, double guards). As for specific videos to react to, may i suggest : -NHL greatest hits : Here comes the boom, by Lime Light Prod. - The beauty of hockey, volume 1 and 2, by neutralzonehd - NHL best dangles, NHL best saves and NHL best shootout goals, all by The Highlight Factory - The Code, by ninh
I've always loved watching your music reactions.. I see the pic of Elvis behind you.. love it.. can't wait to see this reaction because I've been watching Bird videos for the past couple months.. I had no idea how good this man was.. I grew up with my Daddy loving Dr. J and Moses and Barkley... he hated Bird.. Now I know why Daddy hated Bird.. he was that good. lol
Larry worked harder and longer than anyone. His trash talk was psychological because he could back it up. He humiliated the opponents and blew their minds. His career would have lasted longer but he was putting in a driveway for his mother and hurt his back. He could have paid anyone to do it but that was not who Bird was.
You should check out Larry’s ultimate mixtape. And for the most beautiful basketball you’ve EVER seen, check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. 11 future Hall of Famers. Larry and Magic were co-captains. Everyone was glued to their TVs whenever they played. It was a surreal time. I watch the documentary often and still, the same reaction, awe. I hope that you watch. You are one of my favorite reactors.
It's so funny how all y'all react to these vids and you all know how to ball...why is no one reacting to you. Lmao 46 points, bless. Oh and Bird is the GOAT.
Telling his opponents what he was going to do was Larry's thing. He'd call his shots, tell the other player guarding him for example "one dribble, pull-up, going left off glass. There is a much better video of Larry Birds Ultimate trash talking that includes Gary Payton telling Dramond Green that Larry was the coldest trash talker he's played against. Coming from The Glove, that's saying something.
Bird, was a beast he mouthed the other team slot but he really respected a lot of them like Magic, and Dominique Wilkins, and Jordan, I know you like basketball, but you need to watch the highlight film's on Barry Sanders, playing with the Detroit lions, he was amazing!!
Basketball fan from way back and still basketball ball fan . Larry bird my all time favorite player. Y ou should watch Larry bird greatest passer the edit. Michael said he learned to trash talk from Larry.nice reaction

when someone is engaging in good-natured trash talk, it prompts players to bring their A game ....as well as it does you and your teammates. The competition is what its all about , so dialing it up ain't a bad thing. I was a legit Tomboy when I was a kid, I played baseball, basketball, wrestled and arm wrestled all my dude friends in the neighborhood and honestly , I was better than most of them at all of that shit. You’ve got to watch some Larry mixes. His passing re-edit video is amazing! I love watching him play. He was just so good, and so fun to watch play, that even as a Lakers fan, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by his playing.

He was just having fun.
Larry’s trash talking was never vulgar. The goat.
It isn't trash talking whehen you do it ...
Bird is my guy. I swear he had eyes in the back of his head and could see the future.
When i was a kid my dad never missed football, basketball, or boxing. We never missed a celtic, lakers or bulls game.i remember these legends well
That last play deserves more context. He actually hit 3 game clutch shots in that game. His first shot was called off due to time out. The 2nd shot was to tie the game to go to overtime. The 3rd shot was to win the game in overtime.
All I can say is what a time for basketball. These match ups were epic!!!
As a kid Larry played basketball with black men who worked at a hotel. I can only imagine how proud they must be of him. 😊

The game Magic Johnson was talking about. Legend had 38-20-15-2 steals that game.
I am definitely NOT one to get into sports, but let me tell you how much I LOVE Larry Bird! best trash talker around!!

Go down the rabbit hole. Especially..Making the Case and the mixtape
He wasn't just a shooter need to watch his video of him passing the ball. His tip pass was so good and no look over his head.
Re-edit with additional footage 👍

React to Larry Bird's Ultimate Mix Tape. Subbed!!
Nique and Larry's shootout game 7 was an outstanding video. Great game to watch.
You’ve got to watch some Larry mixes. His passing re-edit video is amazing! I love watching him play. He was just so good, and so fun to watch play, that even as a Lakers fan, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by his playing.
Give me some Larry Bird and Home Free and my night is made! Thanks
Truth
1) Larry said he was up 38-6, meaning he had 38 and Dr J had 6, which lead to fists getting thrown.
2) Bird 6-0 vs Jordan in the playoffs
And ACTUALLY it was 42-6
Bird never had a chance to throw a fist. They both got tossed out.
They stopped his scoring tho.
React to Larry Birds Ultimate mix tape. There are more trash talk vids too.
best player and the best channel, tnks from brazil
You calling Larry disrespectful for his trash talking, while being disrespectful by talking and making noises over all of these legends speaking..... 🙄 We get it, you know basketball, but it's too much.
Pause. Then we can hear you and them. We don't want you to miss the good stuff.
