Malekith might still be responsible for his choices, but Morathi is the mother of his all the woes he caused. From what I've found, his arrogance was fanned because he found his power enhancing circlet of iron, but when he came home he found the place infested with her pleasure cultists, and I am almost entirely certain she did all that to make the Phoenix King look weak and convince Malekith only he could save them. And through her the Elf and Dwarf alliance fell through, the first great civilization of man (Nehekhara) collapsed) because she caused Nagash to exist and with all that came vampires, liches, orc hordes and skaven running rampant and basically the entire set up that led to the scenario ol Sigmar found himself in. Morathi is one of those characters who I can find basically no moments of innocence for. No happy moments before the fall to darkness despite not being born into it. Just a fine stream of bad.

I double checked and it was an otherwise irrelevent Lord Quex enacting what he believed was a needed realignment of the continents. But even that wasn't necessarily the case. If that was him, he only exasperated the results of the first skaven ritual going haywire, as they were trying to expand the underempire and ended up destroying Skavenblight and almost themselves.

I consider Morathi doing a 180 on her attitude towards Slaanesh's ability to get out and also her being cavalier about pissing off the other gods as a lore _positive._ It's not a plot hole, it's Morathi falling prey to her hubris. She thinks finally achieving apotheosis makes her immune to the consequences of her actions. That if she just obtains godhood, it means she's "won". She doesn't understand that godhood isn't the blank check she thought it was. Not in AoS, where even gods can die. Her arrogance - her Grandiosity - is getting the better of her. That's not bad writing, that's GOOD writing. It means she's a flawed character. It's this kind of thing that capital-t Tragedies are built on.
There's a scene in Warhammer where Grombrindal (who before the End Times is all but stated to be Malekith's old friend Snorri Sturluson who's so pissed off over an oath which Malekith had broken that he came back from the dead through sheer rage) is asked who's the most beautiful woman in the world between Alarielle and Morathi. He predictably tells the moron who asked him that question that they're both no good on the grounds that they both lack defined muscles and are consequently useless in a shield wall (the part about them being elves is something he declares to be so obvious that it didn't need to be brought up, and this is without getting into how Morathi is the 2nd most evil non-Chaos character from all of Warhammer Fantasy with her son being #3 and Nagash being #1) before declaring that Helga Longplaits is his pick on the grounds that she's completely dependable outside of her looks.
