Starting the wet vac to get suction creates negative pressure in the hose. The water starts flowing out of the hose and there is no air to fill the void it leaves behind. As a result it pulls more water through the hose until air enters the hose to return it to normal
Yes, once you start the flow with the wetvac, gravity does the rest by pulling the water down which keep creating negative pressure, or suction. This is what is known as a syphon. As the water get low in the spa air finds ways in. At this point I use the wetvac like normal and keep dumping the water out of the tank. All in it takes 15min.

So just let the end sit out unattached to vacuum unit on the ground and it sucks water out? Not to wet vac unit?
