So.after editing and watching the video. I realized that I call it a mother board. It's the relay board. The mother board is located behind the screen and has the program in it. I have the same program as I've always had. And I was just really happy to get my FD fixed.
I hope you went back and found that spacer for the screw that fell and replaced it. If any of those solder joints on the bottom of the board come in contact with that metal plate you can have some serious issues.
Seriously just saved my life. I was so tired of emailing harvest back and forth. It was a waste of time. I just bought the new piece and I know 100% that's the piece that was causing it not to heat up.
Glad it helped. Keep posted on how it goes!
Always take a picture of the wiring so you know where it goes back.
Love the intro😅❤
Thanks for the video. I just had an error code two weeks ago. It was error #9 could not achieve vacuum. I did all the troubleshooting, changed the oil, unhook, reconnect, did a pressure oil flush and soft ware update. Could not get the mTorr lower than 750. Made an appointment with Harvest Right. They asked that I take the tray unit out (which I have never done since I have only had it three months) and run a test with the empty drum. I found three small pieces of grated cheese sticking to the drum. They asked that I clean that up. I did and without the tray unit I was able to achieve below 500 mTorr. I put the unit back in and ran a bread test which was fine. I did one batch of fruit and veggies. Running another batch of fruit and my next batch will be a big test...spaghetti meat sauce. If it can handle that then we are good to go.
Who knew three little pieces of grated cheese can mess up achieving the vacuum!
Since I have ZERO mechanical skills if mine has that issue I am gonna be crying 😢.
You could replace the board if you needed too. And yes three little pieces of cheese can cause that issues. I try and wipe the rubber seal off right before I close the door because dust, food particles and even small hair can stop it from achieving vacuum.
I got the same vacuum code and it was the oil in the pump was oil I filtered put back in.
Mine could not achieve a Vacuum either 8 months after owning it they determined it was either a freon leak or compressor problem its currently waiting at there factory to be fixed. I have seen a lot of people sayiing its the medium freeze dryer that people are having the problems with.
@@jmb-cm7mr I had a problem one time not getting proper vaccum turns out the oil in the pump was bad. It was a batch I ran though a filter and reused it.
It sucks it's at the factory. But at least it getting fixed. And I would say the mediums are probably their biggest seller so there are gonna be more problems because there are more of them out there
You did good replacing the mother board. The packaging that the new one in is an electrostatic free package put the old back in it and send back. If you had gotten a small electrostatic charge across that board you would have blown all those relays and had to get a new one. Things are really touchy with electronics like that.
Thanks for the info. I called it a mother board it's actually the relay board lol
That's bullshit
When taking things apart you can not mark it to much and take lots of photos
This is true. Now days nobody can use the excuse of "I don't how it goes ". Just like changing the belt on a vehicle. Take a picture. Thanks for the comment !
Mine did the same thing it’s to plug on the heater rack the wires come out the back of them it’s a blah look in your plug if all the four points aren’t sticking out you’ll have to take it out push it through there tape it and glue it it’ll fix your problem it’s a plug on the heater rack
Thanks. Any idea how much the relay board iteself costs?
I'm having the same issue.
I got my replaced without cost because it was under warranty. I have no idea what they cost.
Good Morning, how loud is this as it goes through its cycle. Mine is on the way and I’m deciding where to place it. Good to know we can work on these. Thanks for sharing
Morning! The FD dryer itself is like a freezer when it's freezing. And the loudest part of the whole thing it the pump. It can be kinda of loud at time depending on what you got going on. I have mine in the dinning room.
You just have it somewhere where it doesn't get real hot.
We have a window ac in the dinning room to help keep the temp beings there's a huge window in the dinning room. I was going to put it in the basement but it's not finished and out extra bedrooms are upstairs. I have a 100 year old farm house. No garage. Hope that helps and let me know about any other questions
@@blueoutside3394 Thanks man, I have already considered the temperature situation. I have a wood closet in my garage i think I will convert and I have a window unit AC to keep it cool. Thanks for the info.
@@fitzpreacherfarm6826 just remember dust can get sucked into the FD
@@blueoutside3394 For what it's worth, I put a high velocity (old IBM computer cooling fan) fan next to the pump. I've used it for that since I've had the freeze-dryer (3 yrs). It's plugged into a joint power strip, with the pump itself, so it kicks on at the same time as the pump, and turns off when the pump ends its cycle. I've found that this has really helped to control the heat on the pump.
@@RichyRichToo I like this idea. Does that type of fan run on a regular 110 plug or does it need modified? I've always wanted a sound dampening box around the pump and the fan would be required to keep the air moving.
How did you take off the cover?
There are Allen head screws on the back, once removed pull the top towards the back there's "hooks" holding it in.
8:15 I'm not a huge fan of software updates/change either. If it ain't broke don't fix (update) it. I don't even like upgrading my Windows computer.
I feel the same way about my computer and phone.
@@blueoutside3394 Oh yeah. I got a smart phone, couldn't stand it. Tried to go back to my old flip phone, and it wasn't compatible anymore. At least i still have a landline...lol.
@@MGillDesign sometimes I wish I had a land line. Minus the bill lol. Which can't be much. Only because it'll work if there no power and my mobile can't be charged.
They just sent you a spare part without any questions asked or are you still within the 3 year warranty period?
I had to send HR , freeze drying reports off the machine then they had someone call me. I told them what was going on and they looked at the reports and it was that simple.
Yes I'm still within the 3 years.
@@blueoutside3394 I have had my machine for 13 months and am having the same problem. They told me I would have to pay for the new relay board because I'm out of warranty. Did you buy an extended warranty?
@@barbara2681 I didn't even know there was the option for an extended warranty. So nope I did not.
@@blueoutside3394 Hi I just had the same idea and asked Harvest Right about an extended warranty and they said that doesn't exist. But then I asked how much a relay board costs outside the warranty period. I think they said it's CDN$100 plus because I'm in Canada I pay for $30 shipping. So I assume they sell parts at their cost price, and I'll just plan and budget replacement parts of CDN$300 per year for the future.
@@barbara2681 hi I just asked them, there is no extended warranty available.
WTH!? Are HR freeze dryers not worth the money?! This is like the 4th or 5th video alrady I have seen that showcase problems. Im leery about buying one now.
Well I think they are. They have a new model out just seen one at a farm supply store. So hopefully the problem is fixed. I'm glad it went bad while under warranty
The solution would be to make the relay switches removable like relays for vehicles so you can just go to a hardware store instead of replacing the whole board.
If you're are leery about buying one always go with your gut. But I have no regrets about buying it.
@@blueoutside3394 Okay thanks. What is different about the new model? I cant tell from just pics on the website. Again thanks.
CAN I HAVE A COPY OF THE INSTALL VIDEO THANK YOU
Are you taking about the one from harvest right?
@@blueoutside3394 yes please
@@ashyslashy5818 I'm sorry. I've searched all my emails and cannot find it. If you contact harvest right they could email you the link. It's not hard to replace the relay board
@@blueoutside3394 thank you
Why in the world do these units have so many problems? Hear mostly problems with them.
I don't feel there alot of problems. I think because its such an expensive piece of equipment. That's what we hear about. Most of the problems I've had. Minus this one were all because of something I did or did not do.
I don't know what generation harvest right is on but they can only get better.
Customer service have and still the worst for me. I have called and left emails. Still no reply back.
Really?? That seems really weird for them. They usually have great customer service
Check you spam folder that where all mine when and the email doesn't say anything from harvest right. It's usually from a person.
Good idea. I didn’t think about that. I did check my spam folder and nothing related to harvest right. Thanks for the advice.
I also got good service from them answered my email in less than 24 hrs.
In 2019 towards the end of the year, I'm guessing Sept or Oct, my wife and I started looking for medical supplies that could go into my doomsday preps.
Every night when she would pick me up from work, we would go on our scavenger hunt from drug store to drug store looking for things like bottles of alcohol,
medical mask, robber glove, and anything that can be used in a grid-down situation. After about the third night of drug store hoping,
I told my wife that something was wrong. I told her that something was out there and that it must be airborne and that they hadn't said anything
to the general population to prevent people from hoarding supplies. As it turned out, I was right.
I bypassed the drug stores and bought gallon jugs of alcohol from distributors. Now I see a flood of people who have bought Freeze-Dryer's, and
Suddenly there are a lot of them reporting problems with their machines. Now I doubted myself in what I was thinking in late 2019 but in early 2020
We know what hit the world in every Country.
I think the real culprit messing with everyone's machine all at the same time may have something to do with the water evaporation
that's going on all over the world at the same time. This changes a lot with our atmospheric pressures and how a lot of machines can't achieve proper vacuum.
I was willing to stumble along like everyone else trying to figure out what was going on with my Freeze-Dry; until I saw the UA-camr named Bryan from Epicenter Bryan
was having the same issue.
From time to time, I would quickly visit and look at some of his broadcasts and I had always gotten the feeling that he is a smart guy, which he is.
Once again, my mind clicked, and I was thinking about what the chances are of this happening to so many people. As I kept looking at so many channels it
struck me how intelligent so many of these people are and how they were so willing to jump into the challenge of solving this problem. But I kept thinking
What are the odds of this not only happening to so many people all at the same time as when the world is at the beginning of water shortages?
It must be Atmospheric pressures. I have always loved science, but I grew up as a child in Philadelphia, born in the fifties. There were never any extra monies
to send me to a special school for science, but I always kept my ear close to the ground when it came to anything scientific. But the insects, birds, and animals
will tell me if I'm wrong. P.S. Harvest Right must be scratching their heads at what's taking place.
that is not a motherboard... its a relay board... lol
Yep I realized what I had said while editing. I did comment in the comment section to correct my mistake.
Oops.. i didnt even look at comments :)
Harvest right is the worst!
They're not really. Just like anything you get bad parts and pieces. It happens.
if your unit is working sell asap
it will break and you will lose everything
What do you mean everything?? Iv enever had a problem with mine other then a relay going bad and I fixed it myself. I've had mine for two years never had major problems that weren't my fault.
@@blueoutside3394 design flaws
if you haven’t had vacuum issues just wait it’s coming
vacuum is very tricky do so research
pressure much easier than vacuum
good luck sell if you can
@@fpc0041 I'm not gonna sell my unit. Iv head it for two years. Only vacuum problem I've had has been my own wrong going. I love my machine and I'm sorry others have had problems
