Yeah best test for drain valve leaking is just put your tongue on it. Ha ha I’m just kidding. Very good video and I agree with all, nice video both of you.
HR... I had some rattling after starting my machine a few weeks back. Had to 5m reset, then things worked fine.
Typical, when we got on the phone with a HR techie.... the problem stops. I do dred the day when we can't home remedy a problem, stopping us from producing product when we need it most. Just glad freeze-drying allows you to produce a surplus.
Candy destroys your oil in 30 runs. I do veggies only now, going on 60 runs and my oil is clear and near clear color wise (maybe the slightest tint of yellow).
Seems that sugar might "caramelize" in the high heat of the pump oil. Guessing fruit will do the same, but I've only done one run of hawaiin gold pineapple.
Easiest fog fix, only fill your oil half full (middle of the glass). Learned that the hard way early. Thanks to the Retired at 40 FB group for that tip.
Oil smoke is so hazardous to your lungs. Inhaled some when I made some fried risotto balls long time ago, I was hacking mucus for over a month.
HR here. I have to nudge my gasket forward a little now to coax it to touch the glass before a run. It's not destroying my life, but it was a problem after 10 runs.
It was creating vacuum errors obviously. A good pair of chopsticks can help you with that nudging after the door is closed.

I really enjoyed the video! Donald made mention about a vacuum pump flush on Amazon can you provide a link to it? I have had all kinds of trouble with water in the oil and I can't get the mets down to just 700 now! I. have done all the Felix fixes he recommends. This machine has been down for months. You call Harvest Right and you get someone in Tasmania! Thanks Ron. I am thinking about buying a Stay Fresh and using the HR for target practice.

I changed my oil in pump a bit ahead of schedule, now I have a change oil alert, HR xl machine how do I end the alert on my screen and tell the machine I changed the oil??? Thanx
The alert is typically on a rotating schedule so it’s not something that is connected to the pump. It doesn’t know you changed the oil. It will go off the screen after a few days likely
Just run another batch and it should reset:)

Of course i already knew this, as no one freeze dryer is perfect...
I’ve tried remaining objective on all freeze dryer brands because it’s easy to get caught up in all the opinions of others.
@@freezedriedbusiness Yes, you are very fair on your channel. In no way, directed at you. I've actually been blocked on his channel, because I felt he was being dishonest about a vacuum leak (failure to reach mTorr) on BA product, that was result of user error, not the machine.
He admitted as such, as he didn't cool the chamber (prior to testing the vacuum function). Didn't follow BA's instructions/manual. And because they dropped him as an affiliate, has decided to keep the misleading video posted on his channel.
@@freezedriedbusiness MiGillDesign is not telling the truth on how testing was completed. I always freeze the chamber or follow what the guide is saying as well. I test these machines. Can’t help when people want to attack and not having anything backing them. No machine is perfect by far however BA and HR need much help. StayFresh has done amazing for me and as we talked about still working an issue.
@@freezedryerrepairsupport You even admitted (verbally) on your BA vacuum test video that it was strange that you can't do the freeze and vacuum at same time, in order to do the vacuum test. Just like Stay Fresh says to freeze the chamber for 90 mins first.
And another BA owner/user, @darylauclair4557 commented (shortly after your video was posted), to let you know the following, but i'm sure you will delete any traces of it, if you find it:

"You can run vacuum, refrigeration and heating all at the same time. Use the Manual Tests screen. I believe you are running the Diagnostic Tests, which can only be run one component at a time for a set duration."

I have no reason to lie, because my first (initial) comments on your BA videos, were shocked and actually in support. I even got angry with the owners of BA (Corey and Tim) because i thought i had a vacuum problem (based on your video). Had i simply tested my machine, without going off of your "biased video" i would've realized there was nothing wrong with my machine, to begin with.
I actually credit @darylauclair4557 for calming me down, about my BA purchase. A machine i had not even used yet (at the time). I got more unbiased insight from his comments (he posted early on your page) that helped me realize my machine was fine, and i should've just tested my machine (first), before going off of your video.
And it's funny, there aren't any other videos about BA "vacuum issues" online (other than yours).
but i'm done... i got my point across.
