    Awesome help! The towel in the back is an awesome idea. I’m having a horrible time with vacuum and HR asked me to get to the “4 dot” menu. They asked me what my number was and I said “50”. My support rep (awesome person btw) told me it should be -50 from the factory. Like you said in your video, do not change this unless instructed by HR and not all settings are the same for everyone.

    • @ZekeRivers
      @ZekeRivers Рік тому

      This number simply changes what your vacuum sensor reports; changing from +50 to -50 means your electronics report 100 mT less.

    Thank you for this video! I'm trying to figure out my insufficient vacuum problem. It gets low enough when it's empty but not with food in it. First two batches worked fine. Wonder if a flush would help, maybe there's stuff in the motor. They did email me back pretty quick offering to look at it but I didn't see the email till the end of the day.

    We received out medium freeze dryer a day ago. First of all they did not send the power cord, vacuum hose or the drain line. They were kind enough to over night the parts to us. After getting it hooked up it will not freeze. The compressor comes on for a sec and then goes off. I called their "Customer support" concerning this BRAND NEW unit and was asked to send log files so a tech could call me back NEXT WEEK! This thing had one foot out of the door when it arrived missing parts, putting me off 4 days to even speak to a tech is both feet! We will be filing a dispute and I warn anyone away from this company. Unless you want a multi thousand dollar paper weight and zero customer support.

    Thanks for this video. Some good tips. Support are Amazing if you have a YT channel. However, their support is notoriously bad for most people. It's bad, really really bad. My FD was DOA and weeks later, still being run around by support. Repeatedly giving me the same tasks over and over. And that's if they even show up for my 15 minute appointment.

      I’m sorry you had such a bad experience with their customer service. They had no idea I have a UA-cam channel, I’ve had my machine for 7+ years and it’s moved across the country twice and have never had any issues with mine.

      @@ThreeLittleGoats Thanks for the reply. It seems when you get a good one, it can last. They seem to be rushing these latest ones out the door and the subreddits and YT comments are full of the exact same thing. These things just don't achieve sub 500mTorr. I hope your investment serves you for many years to come.

      I would never recommend anyone buy one of these machines unless I really dislike them and wanted to waste their time and money, and make them really frustrated. Harvest Right must resell all the junky machines that get returned to them.

    Our freeze dryer is only two months old, we have had nothing but trouble. You have to do the repairs on your brand new out of the box, doesn’t work freeze dryer. That is your first problem. Next is you have to be a mechanic and an electrician to try to keep it running. People need to know these things. It’s not a plug and play machine. Now the touch pad that controls all the functions doesn’t work. It’s 2 months work.
    They don’t tell you, that you have to update firmware and that they don’t offer any outside help. It’s only over the phone, after you download the program and send it to them, over and over and over, just to make a baby step hopefully in the right direction to try to make your machine work. There are issues, watering it down doesn’t make it work or help you after they got your hard earned money. Owning one is a risk you should seriously consider. I’m not a negative person, but this machine has had my wife in tears many times. It’s not reliable. I wish it was.

      We’ve had nothing but trouble with ours too. We got ours almost a month ago and we can’t figure out why our mT won’t go down to 500. We have taped up every possible leak and still I’m running 750 mT. HR doesn’t care about their machines they only care about making money. Their machines are junk!!!

    For the amount of money these things cost they should work out of the box and not have so many issues. It takes at least 2 weeks to be able to speak to someone at Harvest Right. I still have not been able to get a successful vacuum or run a batch after following all of these various YT tutorials. The fact that there are so many YT tutorials about Harvest Right issues should be a big red flag about these machines.

    We recently took delivery of our Harvest Right freeze dryer. The machine would not turn on. My wife called the help line, and it was a simple fix, and we are off to the races. They were incredibly helpful, and patient. Apparently the connection to the digital screen had become disconnected in the shipping process. Easy fix. Hopefully this is the first and last problem.

      UPDATE: Harvest Right has been a nightmare to work with. This has been an ongoing battle for the last month. We are on our second machine right now, and now the second machine's screen has gone white, and won't do anything. This is after the machine wouldn't hold a vacuum. My wife has been hassling with this machine non stop. She counted the number of emails she has sent (nevermind received) HR and she is at 84 and counting. She has had to go buy a thumb drive, watch hours of videos to fix, on her own, the machine that they should be fixing. It's unbelievable the insolence and unapologetic behavior of the customer service people, who appear to be apathetic children that just send videos all day to instruct people how to fix their machines that don't work. When the first machine quit working we had FedEx come and pick it up (I had to haul the 140lb machine out of the basement and up two flights of stairs), the driver said that he delivers about 4 of these machines a week to the Dayton area, and picks up roughly 2 a week that are being sent back because they don't work. He said he always hates picking them up because the people are always incredibly frustrated by the situation. We now have roughly 20 hours for me and roughly 60 hours for my wife of watching videos, trying all the different things they suggest, hauling it up and down stairs, repackaging, and the list goes on and on. They refuse to replace the machine again, only service and return, but we have a garden full of fruits and veggies that we had hoped to freeze dry, that we are having to process in other ways. We also have a 3.5 year old son who already knows that when mommy is mad and goes to the basement that she is going to work on the Harvest Right. It breaks my heart. We have filed a report with both the BBB in Utah, and Ohio, where we live. We are taking them to small claims court tomorrow. I will update as things develop.

    Buyer beware. Just received new Harvest Right FD August 1st 2023. Tried 3 batches. Machine NEVER completes the cycle, keeps running and running. This 3rd time I let it run for 93 hours and then gave up, it never went into Final Dry mode. Only had a light load of shredded zucchini. Removed food after 93 hours and and it was fully freeze dried, but probably had been completed 2 or 3 days ago. Wasting lots of time and energy. Submitted 'ticket' at harvest right but no response yet.

      I have the same problem.I submitted a ticket and waiting 1 day, but no response. So I called the number that came in the box with my freeze dryer. Got a person on the phone and she said they had a problem with the software. So I tried to upload the new software, followed their directions, to no avail. Now I have to wait 8 days to speak to a technical expert. We will see. I saw the the Better Business Bureau has given Harvest Right a grade of B. There is no way they should have sent such an expensive machine without doing a thorough quality check before sending it half across the country. his is not right!

    Before anyone buys a Harvest Right (HR) freeze dryer, do your research. I’ve owned 3 FD from HR and I can no longer recommend them. Here’s a link to the BBB. Their customer service used to be great but now it takes days and sometimes weeks to get them to respond. It seems like the majority of FD have some kind of issue right out of the box. When you pay that much for an item you should have to take them apart and work on them when they’re brand new.
