In the original when the babies cry, that shit spooked the hell out of me. Doom 64 doesn't get the attention it deserves because it was amazing on the N64. The music style, character changes and level design was so good.
Doom 64 enemies are probably the best designs out of all of the Doom games. They stayed away from any sort of sci-fi influence and kept the demons demonic, unsettling and horrible to look at. Those fucking Pain Elementals!
@spoon And what's wrong with that? Looping songs is fun. Also, DAR (Davester2296) took this theme, which by the way is just a short remix Aubrey Hodges' did with his theme from the PSX port of Doom which is a 3 minute track, and managed to put together an extended 3-minute banger of his own so it _can_ be done and I'd love it if Andrew gave it a shot.
I've been listening to this so much over the weekend that I had to make myself an extended version. This cover does the original such justice. Andrew you nailed it with this one.
The Real Doom III. And the unofficial precuel of DOOM 2016. I mean i know that ID said that there's not a connection, but they made a lot of references that itr kinda possible to do a connection and its fun to do and expand the lore
I love your work, and I never play GZDoom without your music modded into the game. I hope you make DOOM II music soon, if only because I want to rock out harder to my demon killing.
Thank you Andrew for all the hard work you and your team do. Playing Brutal Doom 64 recently. I feel like a kid on Saturday morning with nothing else to do. Awesome job 👍🏻
Man that takes me back. Still have the cartridge, too. Dark Citadel was always my favorite map. So gloomy and foreboding and the accompanying track was an excellent fit. I once ran it as a haunted house theme over loudspeakers many years ago. Good times.
Oh wow that is awesome. Impressive drop for it. You should try to do a hole OST. I don't think it has been done for one and also it would be challenging probably since its so atmospheric. But I'm sure you could do it hearing this one. Really want an extended version where it just keeps going xD
Lugbzurg I am aware, but the theme song was pretty similar. And imo the ps1 version of the theme was much better, longer and epic than the N64 version.
They were. As a matter of fact, the theme for the D64 map, "Watch Your Step," is the same song as PSX Doom's E1M2 theme, just through an organ synth instead of synth strings. So it wasn't just the title theme that was reused.
He put out a 20th anniversary remastering of the PS1 soundtrack a while back! aubreyhodges.bandcamp.com/album/doom-playstation-official-soundtrack-20th-anniversary-extended-edition
Okay, I'm gonna say it right now... don't hate me... We had a missed opportunity of bringing this theme back in TAG Part 2, and it would've made this OST perfect. x)
I've got a question, what if there was a licensed Doom tie-in game for the arcade machine, and when you inserted 3 coins, pressed start, and heard this music blasting from the surround sound speakers?
Indeed it is! Apparently Aubrey Hodges is working on a remake as well, but he hasn't said yet if he will re-record the guitar or use the original samples.
Fun fact: Doom 64 and Quake are SOME of the inspirations from for the upcoming DUSK soundtrack.
You're doing the soundtrack for DUSK? Now I'm even more excited to play it!
so does that mean we might be hearing some dark ambient style stuff?
fucking awesome dude
This game is at the top of my radar now!
I'll definitely have to hunt it out then!

I didn't mind the sci-fi-ness too much as I love the cyberdemon design. But ya I dont like how blobby they have looked since Doom 3.
@STORM LORD the mancubus looked good not gonna lie

Aaaaa, this needs an extended version!
@spoon Most songs with a fanmade extended version were not meant to go further either, so this CAN be extended.

I know its late but did you happen to upload that here?
We may never know
I enjoyed doom 64 on the n64. A real but forgotten sequel to doom 2.
cant wait to play it on pc in march
@@r3l1csvk you can play it right now if you have Doom or Doom 2. Just look up how to mod Doom then find the mod "Doom 64 ex."

yes i thought that as well its what is missing hope this will be a longer version of the theme and of course with the babies sounds
Aubrey Hodges made the best doom soundtrack. Hands down, it was just super creepy.
Elon Musk criticizing his dinner.
This man took old MIDI music and made it heavy with out sacrificing the tone of the song. Andrew is a musical GOD.

Uh, sure?
Wait, now I can actually here the Batman theme in this song, ok, I see now
if only this was longer
I would be rocking out fr
Bethesda chose you for the ancient gods for a reason
Can't say I was ever a fan of Brutal Doom, but I can say that this piece confirms I'm definitely still a fan of your work. Nice job on this.
Had to come back here after that Nintendo Direct announcement! This was such a cool game!!
DOOM 64 ON SWITCH!!!
This is a preview, right? You're just teasing us with this short ass song, right?
I can't wait to hear more of your work in the game Dusk.
I feel doom in my veins after hearing this 🔥🔥
All those years later and the intro is still badass.
HELL YEAH! That was so epic! Your amazing man!
This slaps so hard that I actually feel pain
the opening cinematic is one of the best ways to start a game
Thank you for the awesome tracks you give us.
Very nice. I like how it slowly starts then hits you with the metal guitar and drums.
when i was a kid this song just gave me hella batman vibs and that elevated the game for me
Brutal doom 64 and the nightdive rerelease like Civie 11 said is like righting a grave injustice thanks Andrew for helping with that
Best Doom instrumental cover I've ever heard. Ever.
That was the coolest intro to something I have ever seen
I feel the exact same way about this as I do your rendition of Sign of Evil: badass as all hell, and my only wish is that it were longer.
This isn't just the theme for Doom 64.
It's the theme of the Doom Slayer too.
It's only appropriate that this be played at my funeral.
That's really amazing and epic but really short
The original song was actually called "Silent Knight."
Can’t wait to play this game again on my Nintendo Switch..
That was awesome. Good job as alwayx
I'm so excited that you are part of the new Doom games.
That was fucking awesome 👏 I love it especially because doom 64 theme just hit at the right place
Geeze i remember playing doom 64 back when i was like 8 At my buddys house... he had an old n64
good times.
i love this
Damn !! That was awesome :) Really Epic and metal ;)
Finally got my kick drum sounding closer to this. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Aubrey Hodges would be proud!
i swear, this is even more badass than the doom 1, the badass intro + the badass song = awesome! !
Need this in extended version...
Could you make an extended version of this please?
It's just so good.

This played in my head when i picked the Unmakyr in Doom Eternal. Shame that mick didn’t make a remix of Doom 64 theme for the Unmakyr reveal.
You have to make the doom3 intro it would be bad ass
RIP AND TEAR!
And look at you now B) Eternal sounded Amazing, no one had higher expectations than the doom fanbase. Hope to hear you in more to come
That was awesome. Good job as always

This soundtrack is dope as fuck bro
Who else admits that Andrew Hulshults makes the best remakes about Doom
OMFG YES! Thought on doing the full PS1 version of the theme tho? That'd be sick
That's an entirely different game, actually. PS1 doom is something of a reimagining of the original, while Doom 64 is a straight-up sequel.
Lugbzurg I am aware, but the theme song was pretty similar. And imo the ps1 version of the theme was much better, longer and epic than the N64 version.
Is almost the same song, I think the sinthetizer used for PS1 was a bit different from the N64, both were composed by Aubrey Hodges Isnt?
They were. As a matter of fact, the theme for the D64 map, "Watch Your Step," is the same song as PSX Doom's E1M2 theme, just through an organ synth instead of synth strings. So it wasn't just the title theme that was reused.

The build-up is like a slower, more brooding intro of the Batman Animated Series
Fucking great! doesn't exactly hit the same without the cries of the babies at the end though
