6:24 has me thinking that Nuclear Ballistic Submarines are still relevant in the 41st Millennium. Actually on a larger note I feel like in all science fiction having planetside SSBN's will continue to be a relevant strategic decision. Like a stealth ship is kinda just alone in space making it easy to pick up with some sort of sensor, but if you have an entire planet's ocean to hide under it's going to be super hard to find subs hiding there. Water would be a completely different medium from space so even if your aliens have advanced sensors for space I doubt they'll be specialised for water as well. Even if they have planetwide general scanners, knowing the oceans have an unusual amount of steel in them isn't going to help you guide a missile. Just interesting.
There are many ways Tyranids could realistically counter submarines. First of all, who's to say some of your crew aren't already hybrid or cultists, those are prime targets for infiltration by genestealer cults. Secondly, it would be extremely easy to just fill the oceans with extremely efficient hunter-killer bioforms, remember, even the slightest of electrical signals would be easy peasy for a specialized creature to detect and follow, so even submarines running minimal systems(lifesupport only for example) wouldn't be able to hide. That or just... Y'know... Drink the oceans... They're full of biomass and useful nutrients etc. The hiveships were probably going to do so anyway, they could just do so sooner if they detected anything being launched from underwater.
@@inertjohnjunk fair point, the Tyranids are kinda busted it seems. I was just remarking at the lack of nuclear ballistic submarine representation in sci-fi media’s military strategy in general. You gotta admit SSBN’s are badass and having more of them in fiction would objectively improve it.
@@Ailuk the Space Battleship Yamato franchise's stealth ships are literal space submarines with (I think) supercharged torpedoes. they're submarines cuz they literally dive into a dimension in between dimensions.
@@alicorn3924 That sounds cool but it also sounds like more of an attack submarine vibe. I’m talking Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarines, I’m talking the culmination of all of human technological development in the most beautiful weapon the military industrial complex has ever made, I’m talking about a military vessel that not only CAN wipe out entire cultures but is also more effective simply through terror it’s mere existence inspires. We need more of those kinds of submarines in sci fi. In my humble opinion that is.
@@Ailuk in the 2205 episodic movie, a UX-01 is shown to have managed to get underwater beneath an ice sheet and surface through the ice sheet to launch missiles that are more akin to cruise missiles than nukes, but close enough.
Better than the last one I will say. Biggest problem with the video was the Ravener segment; you blended two different Tyranids (Ravener and Trygon) into one thing but in a way that didn't really accurately convey how they best serve their role in a Tyranid Invasion. The model used is not a Ravener, but rather is a Trygon. Trygons are significantly larger (one of the largest known Tyranids in fact, originally classified as a Bio-Titan) and are known to dig giant underground tunnel systems throughout the invaded planet to attack from below, and Raveners accompany them, spilling out from these subterranean networks en-mass to either aid the Trygon or split off and sneak attack other vital targets. A Trygon also emits a large field of static energy it can use either as a shield or weapon and potentially even an EMP, which can play a major role: they have been known to disable critical electronics as part of their ambush (generators, weapon systems or even energy shields) that leave the opponent much more vulnerable to the Tyranid attack even if the Trygon is repelled. Raveners have a warrior-like head with a pincer tail, and while they can dig through rock, they cannot do so at the sheer speed of the Trygon nor carve tunnel networks of such width and length. Invasions with them often have the Trygon leading a Ravener pack through dug tunnels to erupt beneath crucial areas at a time that will cause the most disruption possible for the victim. Or worse, a Trygon Prime (a synaptic Trygon with a stronger electricity field and enhanced senses) leading a group of Trygons and massive clutch of Raveners to potentially allow the entire swarm (Hive Tyrant and all) to invade the enemy base via the tunnel network. The part with the Harpy was very accurate, albeit the model has both weapons rather than two of the same (though maybe that's to help clarify which two they can equip, which would be pretty fair.)
@@GittingGud1 it's just constructive feedback man, no need to be weird about it the guy asked me if I could give specifics on what he got wrong on the prior one so I felt I'd just honor that for the new one he did while I watched it to do a more in-depth job this time
Thanks for pointing that out. We had a hard time finding a Ravener model actually so its a bit derivative of the model we could find for the Mawlok which will be featured in later episodes as we get into the Bio-Titan deplyment wave
@@InvictaHistory If that's the reason, that's fair. I think the DoW2/R models are on steam if you can use them. Just make sure to differentiate between the Trygon and Mawloc should you cover them in that later, as they serve different roles: the former creates underground ambush points and leads an attack through them while the latter are giant sand worms pulling hit-and-runs while breaking up the ground and swallowing people whole. Also as others have pointed out, the lack of mention on the synapse creatures hampers a lot of the accuracy of an invasion portrayal as they are the most important part of each Nid swarm: for how intelligent and cunning the Hive Mind is, it heavily relies on these creatures to help spread it's intellect across the force of bugs or else the lesser Nids will succumb to instinct and often panic. The things the Harpies and Raveners do here would be accurate, but would require a synaptic commander to bring them in reach of the web to enable them to do it. The most important Tyranid in any invasion (beside the Norn Queen, who births them from above) is the Hive Tyrant, which has the strongest connection to the Hive Mind of any Tyranid. Each Hive Tyrant is different, with unique preferences and tactics in addition to a greater degree of individuality that allows them to think with far more freedom when it come to solving problems or countering unforeseen events. While still slaved to the Hive Mind and their eternal hunger, they and the Norn Queens are the only Tyranids that could be viewed as truly sapient in a way. And if or when they are killed, their minds are implanted within a fresh body while they learn from their mistakes. I think it would be very beneficial to cover them in a future part, or at least mention them and their presence.
Fantastic series, I'd love to see the same series for a Space Marine Chapter (any of them) vs Nids. Would be great to look at the changes in tactics :) Thanks for the great series!

Air power is really where Nids would get rolled realistically. Imagine trying to dogfight even modern aircraft when all you have are actual wings. Video says Harpies are quick, but even the slowest of jet engines is going to be so so much faster than muscle powered wings could ever be
@@PatchGaming22 Honestly true, while I understand that dogfighting an Opponent who has the agility of Wings (which allows sudden direction change) can be tricky all you really gotta do is just not get close and fly circles around these things. @@PatchGaming22 They do have acid guns too, and it might be easy to dogfight a few, but having like 40 tossed at 1 pilot might be a bit much for them... Tyranids are rough, man
Covering the Fall of Reach or the battle for Earth from Halo would be really cool. From an almost suicidal frontal assault in space to land ground troops, to the defense of the Super MAC reactor sites.
The train segment doesn't make any sense. If the tyranids can get close to the wagons, they can get close to the tracks, which they would just destroy, permanently severing the train supply lines.
Fair point although for this one we figured the minor bioforms wouldnt be able to do damage. Something like a Harpy might be able but here we figured they would rather attack the train or lay bombs
Actually it dose somewhat first of all damaging tracks isn't easy especially if the trains on them are self powered it is also what happens in the real world if you look at ww2 or for a more modern example Ukraine whilst there are strikes on tracks they are usually fixed within a day or a few days at the most but destroy a train and now the enemy needs a new train and i can tell you takes far longer to build a train than to repair even a few Kilometers of track
@@baleriontheblackdread6679That AND imperium losses whatever cargo the train was transporting(+ personnel that operated on that train) which will cripple defence lines. So in reality destroying trains themselves are more valuable from strategic perspective. Biggest issue imo is the segment about valkyries. Tyranids in reality will have a lot more problems dealing with valkyries than shown in the vid.
I know I’m a little late but those armored trains could have been saved simply by adding another car with a CWIS/ anti air guns attached. For armored trains or really any respectable military vehicle or defense network, a variation of weapons is needed I.e. machine guns for lesser infantry, grenade launchers for packed infantry and light armored units, cannons and auto cannons for medium and heavy units, flamethrowers for close in point defense, high RPM machine gun, auto cannon, and laser AA defenses to deal with the full spectrum of air threats, and finally crews armed with shotguns and high caliber weapons to blast enemy’s off positions and equipment if overrun to maintain control.

@@tau-5794 Raveners are the second best bioform in the Galaxy in terms of using digging implements as lethal weapons. But even they pale in comparison to the true masters, the guys with the gas masks. :)
The death korps wants to know your location
I had only remembered this series a few days ago and saw that the 2nd episode had released. but to also now be met with the 3rd episode 2 days later is nothing but pure bliss.
.... You know what the Tyranids are just kinda everywhere down there, better just lay the Exterminatus down on these Xenos. ALRIGHT, FIRE! (slams face into exterminatus button)
FUCKEN XENOS! -Ordo Xenos
Unironically based
The ultimate idea of a gaming franchise is one that is so huge it includes different game genres that encompasses Real-time, turn-based and grand strategy games, for both space and planetary scenarios. Tower defense with supply trains and outposts, squad-based FPS, survival, city building, sims style life simulation, agri-world farm simulation, logistics management, etc. Separate games within the same universe that are interconnected for coop and multiplayer but can also be played as single player games. Each gameplay outcome is tracked online and pit different factions against one another. I'm probably not expressing my idea clearly enough. Basically, the ultimate 40K gaming experience.
Rumors say that if you listen to the warp during a Tyranid invasion, you'll be able to hear Veriliad screaming out of regret.
Please keep this up. You guys video is so top tier.
@@Ailuk in the 2205 episodic movie, a UX-01 is shown to have managed to get underwater beneath an ice sheet and surface through the ice sheet to launch missiles that are more akin to cruise missiles than nukes, but close enough.
how is the production quality of this series so good wth, so many animations cutscenes scenery etc etc i keep being impressed again and again
This is why I love the guardsmen. They don't have super powers or super secret weapons. It's just a tooth and nail fight for survival.
Loving this series! Would love to see more like this, whether it be other Warhammer 40K factions or other sci-fi/fantasy universes!
Thanks! This is my first video on the channel but I love it, especially the way the nids are animated.
It's like Christmas every time a new video drops can't wait for the next one
What a wonderful and terrifying video! The Tyranids are one of humankind's greatest foes but the Emperor Protects! ⚔🔥🐜
Very cool seeing the development of the visual fidelity and compexity of this series grow seemingly every episode.
Fantastic work to all
Those armoured train designs are awesome!
Man, this series is amazing, one of my favourites on yt as a whole fr
Been waiting for this!
This has the feel of an old school History Channel documentary, it feels like something that's really happening. This channel and series is amazing.
This series is awesome! Cant wait for part 4!
Watching this documentary after work is so relaxing, I cant wait for the next part
This series has been incredible. Please do one for an Ork invasion. I need more of this!
You guys really could make another series out of this like: How the imperium of men reconquer worlds that have fall to the tyranids
Holy crap this series is amazing !
Finally. I've literally check your channel every day for weeks for this video
I can’t wait to fight these monsters in Space Marine 2
The Kasrkin helmet on the ground is SUCH strong imagery. I LOVE this series
I just started getting into 40k lore recently, so this popping up in my Recommended feed is fantastic. Nice work!!
Holy shit guys, you really stepped the animation and models up with this one! Fantastic job
This was amazing! Keep it up, Im freakin hooked
was literally just thinking about this and turned on my computer, thanks for second Christmas ya'll
Another great episode in this amazing series!
We get it dude, you like 40k.
A fellow bug lover, I see. Thank you for posting this so that I don't need to. I honestly am so hype for the love this series is getting
@@GittingGud1 it's just constructive feedback man, no need to be weird about it
the guy asked me if I could give specifics on what he got wrong on the prior one so I felt I'd just honor that for the new one he did while I watched it to do a more in-depth job this time
Thanks for pointing that out.
2 free reqs for tacticus is a decent gift
i Love the fact that you used the nazgul scream to represent the harpy power !
Really nice series. Its fun to watch the horror of the Tyranids unfold.
Love it, nice adding to the warhammer 40k cinematic
Fantastic series, I'd love to see the same series for a Space Marine Chapter (any of them) vs Nids. Would be great to look at the changes in tactics :) Thanks for the great series!
I love this series so much please put the next episode as soon as you can
loving this series!
Love these videos so much, you just get Tyranids and the visuals are great
amazing work on the train assault sequence
Omg I was waiting so long for this video!!!
This series has been fantastic. Reminds me of history channel shows back when the history channel was actually good
The hive mind got the chitin on the wrong side of the Harpy.
The sounds of the heavy bolters are amazing.
As a Tyranid player in 40K I love how you show how big a Tyranid invasion is
These 40k videos are great!
Keep them coming please
I'm loving Warhammer 40K Tacticus 😍😍 I was waiting for your new promo code
For the raveners around 9:00 it's a trygon model but smaller, not an actual ravener!
LETTTTSSSS GOOOOO, been waiting for this one!
Solid animation as always.
One of my favourite series.
Love it please go on THE BEST series ever
Tragic situation if the only Air Force you have is Valkyries and nothing else, not a single Thunderbolt or Lightning Racing through the Sky apparently...
I like to believe the Planetary Governor probably fucked over some Navy Admiral or smth and as Punishment all the Thunderbolt/Lightning Shipments just happen to be "Very Very Late" lol.
their on a different front that's dealing with Harridans and Hive Crones
Air power is really where Nids would get rolled realistically. Imagine trying to dogfight even modern aircraft when all you have are actual wings. Video says Harpies are quick, but even the slowest of jet engines is going to be so so much faster than muscle powered wings could ever be
@@PatchGaming22 they fart, like really hard like thrusters - checkmate
@@PatchGaming22 Honestly true, while I understand that dogfighting an Opponent who has the agility of Wings (which allows sudden direction change) can be tricky all you really gotta do is just not get close and fly circles around these things. On top of that this is 40k and the Imperiums Flying Aces can do crazy maneuvers via combat drugs and advanced technology that you would nowadays only dream off!
@@PatchGaming22 They do have acid guns too, and it might be easy to dogfight a few, but having like 40 tossed at 1 pilot might be a bit much for them... Tyranids are rough, man
I love this series so much, I can’t wait for the next instalment! :)
Are those Mutalisk screams we are hearing? Or is it from the Fellbeasts of Lord of the Rings?
fellbeasts : )
@@InvictaHistory Nice thought that was familiar.
Mutalisk screams are a big more airy and ghastly, these sound stronger and a bit more forcefull
The armored train has me dying for the Kyn’s train to drop. Come onnn GW!
Man... this is National Geographic worthy, really!
Would love to see something Tau based!
i wasnt expecting the harpy to sound like a Nazgul from lotr.
buit such a cool sound
Covering the Fall of Reach or the battle for Earth from Halo would be really cool. From an almost suicidal frontal assault in space to land ground troops, to the defense of the Super MAC reactor sites.
Awesome video again!
This is a really good video man 👍
Ah here we go!
Yay, i was waiting on this one!
Think you guys have a winning formula here. Can't wait to see the Ork Boyz! WAGGHHH!!!!
Great Tacticus code! Thanks
Damn this really makes it clear how well equipped the the tyranids are against the guard
Nooo i wanna see part 4 so bad. The suspense.
Using the Nazgûl screech for the harpy. Nice touch
Thanks!
Pleaaaase Part 4 !
I've been waiting for this. wooooooo
Space Marines need to arrive my man
Been waiting months for this! lets go!
The Harpies have that Nazgul Screech
I really like the boardgame pawn feel of the unit graphics.
Awesome video, as always...!!
I dont look forward more to any other youtube uploads than these! Tyranids forever! Even GW is afraid of their true potential
