They are categorically different. Although similar in terms of size, I would suspect astartes would be stronger, especially if they are in power armor. Space Marines also boast high flexibility while ogryn are relegated to close combat. Space Marines have Battle line, assault, scout, devastator, and terminator units, just to name a few. Astartes also employ a wide range of vehicles. Space Marines are also much more intelligent. Techmarines, apothecaries, chaplains, librarians, and pilots are present in most chapters.
@@knightofcaliban146 honestly, considering several events especially around the beginning and climax of the Horus Heresy, Astartes are way more prone to dumb, tactically pointless or even operationally and strategically ruinous charges than Ogryns or kriegers are.
@@essexclass8168 The aggressive, casualty intensive tactics of the Astartes in the Great Crusade and Heresy are explained by the fact that there were a lot more of them, and their roles changed dramatically. 30k Legions acted very differently than 40k Chapters. The Legions were used primarily as a blunt force instrument in the expansion of a fledgling Imperium, whereas the 40k chapters are highly mobile, versatile strike forces that respond to threats to an ever crumbling Imperium. Some Legions, like Night Lords, Raven Guard, and Alpha Legion have a more sneaky, underhanded approach to warfare that minimizes their own casualties. Looking at something like Istvaan 3, the only reason why it was a battle instead of a massacre is because Saul Tarvitz managed to warn the loyalists, and Angron was dumb enough to deploy to the surface because he wanted to have fun. If you compare Angron's deployment on Istvaan to the siege of Vraks, the Kriegers just threw bodies at the problem because they had plenty to spare, and they were ordered to by an incompetent general. Horus decided to deploy his traitors to root out the loyalists to improve morale, and give the traitors their first big W. Ogryn, lovable as they are, are best used as shock troops. Sometimes they forget to fire their ripper guns, and ripper guns have means of limiting their rate of fire so that they don't run out of ammo too fast. Unlike Astartes they don't have the capacity to execute complex maneuvers, use long range weaponry effectively, or operate vehicles.

After the war was over, and the Guard had cleaned the last cave of the Xenos, a group of 3 Ogryns was found, armor in taters and having only half a shield getting ready to attack the last position in the caves. Now my life is complete you guys making wh40k is the best thing I've seen today
Fantastic video! I love all the Warhammer 40K stuff! ⚔😎👍
Dark Tide is a really good game, it's realy helped by the fact that Dan Abnett himself is helping out with the writing.
I didnt know you liked the 40k universe!! More videos please!! ♥
So glad YT recommended this video to me. Loved the art and how the figures didn't stand still.
For the Emperor of Mankind!
The Spice must flow.
Oh wait
Blood for the Blood God!!!
Great video, I enjoyed it.
This video was incredibly well done
This is great, can't wait to see videos for the other classes.
24:18 - Shed a manly tear when the Imperial Ecclesiarchy showed up and the Ogryns refused to fight the emissaries of His Imperium and realized they had been betrayed and used so they immediately switched sides and redeemed themselves in the middle of the battle...
I hope this isn't a one off! Love your content and would love to see you delve more into 40k military & tactical lore! 👍🏻👍🏽
Love this format.
This video is sick, perfect execution of lore and traits. I cant wait to see some more.
"Every Guardsman need's and Ogryn at his back"
00.04 - 41st Millenium*
Interesting video, enjoyable to watch - i knew Ogryns were from high gravity worlds but wasnt aware such worlds were often prison planets.
Seeing a video on Scions/Stormtroopers would be pretty neat too, with an honourable mention of the Kasrkin and other regimental specific scion-esque soldiers.
Hello. Very interesting and fine video. Im a 30k /40k lore enthusiast but never heard of the Ogryn Charonides. Will we see other videos of 40k squads or units in the future? 🙃
This was wonderful loved the little unit animations
Gab and Bob are good boys and love the emperor very much.
That was awesome and interesting! Thank you fellow Guardsmen 👍✊️
I subbed ,many thanks for the vid ,more plz 🥺
“Gav and Bob” is one of the best 40k fanfics ever written.
This is solid. You should do more of these Invicta
Anything at all 40k is great to hear lore about and Imperial Guard Regiments are always great to hear about.
I love your videos! Can you please do a fashion and/or technological timeline from about 500bc-1500ad in Europe? For some reason it feels like there’s togas then medieval peasantry/knights and it’s hard to imagine a through line of how those people looked in between. Thank you for reading!
Oh yeah baby, Invicta and 40k, this is what I've been waiting for
An episode about the scholae palatinae would be great.
Please make more 40k stuff! This video is great!
Incredible Ogyrn lore video 💯
Less go!!!! My big Bois finally got some love, can you do the "Penal legions next"
Great video! Would be cool to see a take on the Tau Empire, as they are one of the few armies that tactics vise is similar to modern real life armies. Maybe a video about battlesuits role in combat or the humble firewarrior?
