    For an autobody guy, you sure are a humble dude. The average DIY'er should know that you're making this look a lot easier than it actually is. Nice work with those products.

    You need to protect your eyes and ears when spraying 2k. This stuff is mega toxic. Go with a full-face respirator, isocyanates are nothing to mess around with.

    How long did you allow the last color coat to dry before applying the 2k clear? I have heard to wait a week for the lacquer to gas off, other sites say do wet on wet. What do you think is best?

    Lacquer paint has always been known for cracking after uv exposure....does the 2k clear help that at all ?? This fender came out amazing

    It would have been nice to know how many cans of each product was used and how much time in between each coat.

    one thing to remember about this brand of paint...it is lacquer. Don't EVER let lacquer thinner near this paint job in the future. Thinner will wash it off, no sanding necessary ....just bub it a little. Why this company doesn't use a different paint type is beyond me...I'll never use it on a car again but I will use it on guitar bodies if I can't get something else.....

    How long is the wait after each coat of base and before applying the 2k clear? Did you spray on the 2k after the base was completely dry? Also could I do a wet sand or sanding of the base coat if I happen to have any imperfections prior to applying the 2k? TIA

    Ok so i just watched the whole video and the job u did looks amazing. I just wanted to know, if I decided to do something like this at home, what's a good temperature to paint at and how long should I wait between coats, between the primer and base coat and base coat to clear?

    • @ahcgarage
      @ahcgarage  4 роки тому +3

      Great questions. Try and paint in 75-85 degrees for best results. Allow your primer to dry for a hour. When you spray the Basecoat, allow ten minutes between coats. Allow the basecoat to dry for 30 minutes before clear coat. When you clear allow 5-7 minutes between coats. Good luck with your project.

      @@ahcgarage thank u very much for ur advice. Now before I spray the base coat do I need to wet sand the primer before spraying the base coat ? And same for before spraying the clear. Do I need to wet sand the base coat before spraying the clear?

      @@ahcgarage Thia answer is very good information !.. I have motorcycle fenders in excellent condition. Just doing color change. You scuffed surface and degreased surface before spraying filler primer. Im thinking light sand with 600 to break own clear coat on parts, then following your directions.. Is that good ?

    Thanks for the informative vid Brian and Mike! Is that a metallic base color? Do you have any tips for getting good results with rattle can metallics? Technique seems to be much for crucial for a good finish. Thanks

    • @ahcgarage
      @ahcgarage  4 роки тому

      It is. Shake well, really well is a great start. And technique is the core also. If you follow Brian's instruction on the video, you will do ok.

    • @mchristo27
      @mchristo27 4 роки тому

      Thanks. I’ve been trying a combination of rolling the ball in the lower groove and shaking for at least 2 minutes before spraying, plus more shaking every 30s or so. What’s your opinion on warming the can before hand?

    • @PaintSociety
      @PaintSociety 4 роки тому

      Michael Christopher yes you can. That will actually help make the paint more liquidly and the paint will be smoother. Also try to paint when the temperature is not as hott. 70s if you can

    Great video! I have a 2018 Ford F-150 and I had a battery fall over while sitting on the passenger seat floor and it ate away some paint on the bottom of my door jamb and also on the inside bottom of the door as well. I was thinking of painting it myself since none if it will be visible from the outside. I want to paint and put a clear coat on it to protect it. My truck is aluminum, is there a special process to painting aluminum?
    Thanks

    • @ahcgarage
      @ahcgarage  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, since it is only the paint that is affected, you can prepare the surface in the same manner as you would a regular panel which includes sanding and leveling the damaged areas, primering and painting.

What clear coat should I use? (duplicolor, eastwood 1K or 2K) thank you in advance. How much would be needed for a car roof? 1973 dart.

    My experience with this paint was not the same. It went on nice but after following all the steps and spending a lot more $ the paint peeled. This crap is $12 for a 12oz can. No idea why it peeled but I removed it with Scotch masking tape, cleaned, light sand of the primer, and resprayed with a different brand of paint. One that actually stuck.
