Meet one of my favorite guitarists. TOMO-ZO could also get an award for the happiest guitarist in a live show.
Welcome to Gachapin-Land!!! Awesome reaction/analysis! Yes, the guitarwork on this one is spectacular. Usually Tomo-Zo uses a PRS, but for this song she rediscovered her Strat from her previous band and also added a Tele. They tend to a) make every song of theirs totally unique (and thus different) and b) put a ton of details into their compositions. Another level is, if you analyze the lyrics as well, cause it's a big part of their artistic intent.

Oh, I love GS. Through all their weird antics, they are really committed to their expression and music. They can't be beat for energy and fun! And their spin off Doll$box is definitely also worth a listen. They even have an older spin off: Metallic Spin.

Hey, good job. Gacharic Spin is one of the most original and daring bands on the Japanese scene. Their live shows are a prodigy of energy and fun. Funk to the max!
There are 2 "Official" live videos for this song. One with Yuri on drums and one without as she was maternity leave. Both are good. There is ALSO another unofficial live video which seems to keep disappearing from YT which is also very good and about an additional 90 seconds longer. I've only seen that one two maybe three times though.
Really glad you liked it . They have so varying Songs. " I wish I " is a completlely different Beast and one that gives me chills every Time . Angies singing is so emotinal is this one . As others mentioned : Tamashii Live is crazy good. BTW Kachi-Kachi Yama refers to some Japanese Volk Tales . The Title of the Song being one of them. ( Others: The Crab and the Monkey / Issun Boshi / Momotaro / Kintaro ) Kachi-Kachi Yama is a little bit more crazy than Mindset , so be prepared 😂 Hope you make it to the contest !!

GS are an amazingly talented band. Rediculous amounts of musicianship and insane levels of energy. React to Kachi-Kachi Yama and then follow that up with something live. You will not regret it.

Hey Jon.. Long time no see.. Welcome to The ladies of Gacharic spin.. Another can of worms for you, A whole nother bunch of exceptionally tallented ladies tearing it up.. Do Tamashi live double drum set, very cool song. Also the drummer... She is not from this planet, another Japanese virtuoso, she does a cover (on her own) of Smells like teen spirit, using household utensils. It was apparently? a covid lockdown ? experiment.. You have to see it. There are a couple of links on you tube, (I won't post it here as the comments seem to dissapear with links in) do the long one with the Kogga and Tomo interview at the beginning, as in this one she goes through how she put all the sounds together.. Yet another incredible Japanese girl band, that can play the sh@t out of their instruments, make complex music that requires super chops, but are still really really fun and catchy. I mean, holy crap batman!
Excellent review of an amazingly talented group of musicians. My introduction to this band was a live version of this song and at the end I literally thought "WTF did I just listen to?" I was blown away. Also nice that you picked up on what Tomo-zo, the guitarist, was doing since most reviewers focus on Koga, the master of the slap bass and usually high in the mix, and multi-talented Hana, playing drums in this song but currently playing rhythm guitar. That weird guitar sound at the final keyboard solo was Tomo-zo using a wah-wah pedal. Tomo-zo is very underrated but to be honest, she has become one of my favorite guitarists and I grew up listening to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck etc. The only other guitarists who smiles as much as she does during live performances was the late Eddie Van Halen. Speaking of live performances, their energy can be off the charts.

I have no musical talent what-so-ever, but listening to Tomo-zo's guitarwork has opened up a whole other world of appreciation. There has been so many moments of "What the hell was that sound?" and I've had to track down some live recording of the song or something to figure out that it's Tomo-Zo doing something crazy again.
@@equim8596 Unfortunately Tomo-zo is often low in the mix and most of her solos are short but she certainly puts a lot of effort in writing her guitar parts. One reason she might be underrated is that she loves dressing up in colorful girly-girl outfits so she doesn't look the part of a serious guitarist and she is almost constantly smiling (which is part of her charm) so her playing looks effortless. Of course Eddie Van Halen also was a smiling guitarist and no one doubts his talents.
“Cha” as in “Cha-Cha.” (The system for writing Japanese with Romaji uses “ka, ki, ku, ke, ko,” to represent the mora with a hard “k” sound.)
MINDSET is a song about resisting the rules, restrictions, and expectations placed on young women in Japan.
The song “I wish I” (start with the MV), from the same album is also amazing, in a different way. It talks about learning to love yourself, even if you are different from everyone else. It opens and closes with the exclamation, “Seikai wa totemo utsukushii” (the world is very beautiful), and makes the claim, “if you could look through my eyes, you would see that the world is beautiful.” A fan posted an English lyric video.
GACHAPIN have been performing for more than 13 years. There have been many lineup changes, but three members have been constant: co-founders F-CHOPPER KOGA (bass) and HANA (drums, vocals, guitar), and TOMOZO (guitar).
To see the original lineup, with ARMMY on vocals, watch the MV for JUICY BEATS. The MV for SEKIRA LIAR (赤裸ライア) shows the a subsequent lineup, with OREO LEONA (keys, vocals) as the ARMMY replacement, along with two dancers added for additional excitement in their stage shows.
