I remember as a kid seeing the VCR box cover for this movie at our local video store and asking my mother if we could rent it..... lol, She would just give me this crazy look and not say a word..... lol

@@HarveMoone I was just being a smart ass. It's a movie about a child prostitute, I can't imagine anyone who enjoys it doesn't have some HDD folders they keep hidden, if ya know what I mean. I also feel like there were almost certainly some people involved in the production that weren't exactly babysitting candidates. It's like every other song and movie for a couple decades were pretty much about diddling.
this is an underrated gem
LOVE this movie. Such a time capsule of LA/Hollywood Blvd in the early 80s. Bunch of wonderful characters. And, and.... I haven't seen another woman run like that in heels. LOL

I can't remember the Girl from part 3 that played Angel but I liked her and could at least relate to it being the same character even though she looks different
As an actor, you have to sum up your prospects and on occasion swallow your pride if it extends your career.
And it was the right call for her... The sequel is a parody... I laughed my ass off with that one. It's like a cartoon version with slapstick and all.

This is an important movie. Every parent in every home should show this to their children no matter what their age, be it 5, be it 15, be it 50. A lot to learn… an important movie.

This film saved new world pictures from going bankrupt and gave to my lifeline they created a sequel and wouldn't pay the actress the money she wanted, the 3 next flims all flopped and new world pictures went bankrupt
This trailer ruins half of the story. You shouldn’t know this much about her mother going into the film. I love this movie! It’s a classic.

This movie is wild and I can’t believe it was released theatrically.
The 80s were more lax (in places) in terms of wat stories were told. It wasn't quite as sleazy as the 70s but the films still had an edge to them. Obviously something like this would never get made (let alone greenlit) in today's world.
The movie was made by New World Pictures, a company that specialized in genre and exploitation product.

Donna Wilkes was great in this role, but I also loved Rory Calhoun and Dick Shawn as well. They certainly don't make movies like this anymore.

Even I think Jodie Foster is great playing Molly "Angel" Stewart is that she played Iris in Taxi Driver. Even if they did cast Jodie Foster in this movie she deserves her best outrageous performance.

I rented it once. Nothing special. Donna Wilkes deserved a better movie in my opinion.

Look, I get it, finding a 15-year old actor that could pull off the demands of the role would be difficult alongside child labour laws, but at the very least they could have cast an 18-year old who looks 15, not a 25-year old who looks 27! I've not seen this movie but based on the trailer think I would find it hard to get engaged in the story and characters with such a massive immersion breaking casting.

Guess this is the only place where I can write a bad review since it took 90 minutes of my precious time. Film was highly unrealistic and out of character. It had no plot and was not going anywhere. I only saw it because the idea was good but the not script itself. Hopefully you won't waste your time either.☹
