  • This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Certainly, THE worst movie released in 2023. And I am fortunate enough to have seen some shockers. From The Room to Samurai Cop. Let's not forget the Oscar-winning Batman and Robin. In this video, I break down all the funny scenes in the worst film created by humanity.
Blackbird (2022 initial premiere) was an ego project by Michael Flatley. Master of the tap dancing world. Creator of Lord of the Dance and other shows. He took his masculine tippy tappy style to the Bond genre of films. Some say he will be the next Bond after Daniel Craig.
There are cheesy lines and scenes that make Threat Level Midnight seem like a work of art. There are far too many comparisons between the two to list.

Nearly the definition of a fictional movie is "suspension of disbelief". That IS basically everything. All we ask is that you don't thwart our brains from that. Fun video! Let's give Eric Roberts some props here. The man knows what his life has been. He knows he had a shot at being an A-lister and ruined it. And now he's gotten himself together and happily gives his all to every one of the hundred or so two-bit, sleazy villains he plays every year, without irony. No matter how bad the script. He's a hard-working guy now and deserves the living he is making doing B movies. And he still occasionally gets some roles in bigger films like Dark Knight. Respect.

They don't make "Drive-In fodder" like this anymore and American International does not get them and dubb them with this kind of dialogue.
There is a place for this kind of movie making and while I agree with you, at least it is not produced by a big-name Hollywood studio with a half-billion dollar budget, all for the same results.

My wife and I watched this movie last night. As you said this "movie" is a pastiche of scenes cloned from real movies. Fight choreography and, to some degree, the jaunty hat angle is from The Quiet Man (1952). The line "You can tell a lot about a man by the way he plays cards." is lifted from Goldfinger where James Bond says "You can tell a lot about a man by the way he plays golf."
Also, referring to something as "The Formula" is a movie trope that was already cliche when I was a kid in the 1960's.

Weird how I see people claim “Rey is a Mary Sue,” arguing that she is gifted at everything, flawless, intelligent, seemed to learn to be an amazing fighter and great pilot while off screen - yet those kinds of descriptions apply to countless heroic characters that are iconic and never referred to as Mary Sues. Solid Snake, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, every main Star Trek character, Wolverine, Blade, etc., etc.
You don’t like Rey, and that’s fine - but don’t pretend it is because unlike Luke she didn’t get a 3 minute training montage, because you’ve likely found yourself rooting for onscreen badasses who are gifted at everything who you also never watched earn those skills (anyone remember that scene from James Bond where he first learns how to sword fight, fire a gun and ball dance? No?).
It does almost seem like I only ever see complaints about a character being too perfect when the protagonist is a woman. Like if you took the script for Lara Croft in Tomb Raider then erased her name and replaced it with James Bond, suddenly no one would mind that the character can single-handedly take on a small army and is able to speak multiple languages.
I remember people complaining about She Hulk being super strong without “earning” her power and thinking “so like … like literally most every superhero? Did Spider Man get gifted super strength and reflexes by way of a workout montage or did he get bit by a radioactive spider?

The OG trilogy had Luke losing his hand and his friends etc. Hell even James Bond is captured and tortured in nearly every one of his adventures, same with Indiana Jones. I just wanna see the hero's struggle. Clark Kent losing his family is also a struggle. Rey not knowing her family isn't a struggle because we were never told or bonded to them. Just my 2 cents
