Diane does not look 70 years old and her eyes are a striking feature to highlight. I was amazed at just brining up her bangs made such a big difference and love the suggested new color. Another win for Justin!
Tell your wife she is lovely and her input in your videos makes them better than good! Get well soon! Btw, Diane looks terrific. Your suggestions made a good difference 😊❤️
Love this series and now that I've watched so many of the videos I'm starting to see the changes that could be made before you talk about them. What I'm learning is that we have to take these pictures periodically of ourselves so that we can look at ourselves more objectively from a distance and different angles. I've done this with clothes and it's helped me get my clothes the right length for a more flattering look. Good lesson in this.
I love these lessons you are so generously sharing! The changes you suggest are so comfortable for the ladies-not some huge uncomfortable change. So doable and uplifting.Thank you!
Feel better Dionna! Diane is very youthful for her age. I love her "after" image. You bring out all her best features with the changes. That causes her to appear even more youthful and beautiful. I think a lot of that comes from within also. She looks like a joyful person!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. You nailed it! That is such a fantastic observation. She does seem very joyful in that will transcend any sort of style I could give her. I love that you brought that up!
You’re so welcome!!! Thank YOU! There’s a link you can use to submit photos in the description of each of the videos in this series (and always my most recent video). Look forward to seeing your submission!
Amazing video.. just the bangs lifted her face and made her face look thin and elongated 😱🤩I am always impressed by these subtle changes that make HUGE difference.❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!!
Hi Justin! I love your channel, have only recently discovered it. I am turning 60 in Dec. but feel 10 yrs. younger. ;) You brought up a lot of things I think I am doing with my long colored, straight hair. . .too long layers, partic. on right side, add weight and "clunkiness." Too long and one length in back (I have fine hair but a lot of it). I recently had my stylist -- who likes taking all her clients VERY LIGHT, I've discovered -- include more low lights part. near root to avoid looking so washed out. I don't love the color. . .it's a bit muddy in appearance and can look brassy if I don't use a purple shampoo once every few weeks, but that is very drying. Any suggestions on color and cut? I do not like short hair on me, as I have a larger frame and also like pulling my hair back when exercising. Thank you, and while this is belated, I hope your wife is feeling 100%! :)
Hey Dana! Thank you! It’s really tough to say for the color and cut specifically without seeing you and your hair texture. It’s a bit of a guess in the dark otherwise. I CAN say that part of why your hair may be feeling muddy after the color is due to the lowlights being washed at the same time as the highlites and bleeding the dark color onto your lighter hair. A way to combat this would be to actually remove all of the foils from your highlights then rinse your hair then remove the low light color and rinse your hair. Or do that in reverse but the point being to rinse them individually versus all at once. As for the cut if you like your hair longer my biggest suggestion would be to make sure that the front is layered short enough, like up to roughly the cheekbones, to help open up the shape a bit and give the hair movement. This would also still allow you to pull your hair back but if you wanted, where some of those front pieces down to give it some interest. I hope that helps a little. I really appreciate the support.
Diane is 70? No way! She looks great and I agree with your suggestions. Feel better Diona! Yes, recaps or follow ups of prior videos would be super interesting!
Fantastic changes with Diane . She looks beautiful .The shift in the bang brought out her eyes and her cheekbone. The color works beautifully with her eyes and skin tone. The lighter color seemed to wash out her features. Great advice Justin 👍 Love your new comment idea 💡
Sorry to hear you were sick Diana! Hope you are feeling better. Be sure to get any medical attention you need, foreign bugs can be tricky. Love the channel and wish you the best.
I enjoyed this video very much. It is so ME! You have given me Great ideas, and I appreciate that! I ALWAYS enjoy your videos, and your walks outdoors are awesome!
First thing I see in photos is from side view the hair being longer in back and shorter as goes up to chin-elongated the chin and neck.. ? Maybe shorter in back and keep longer at sides at chin to give balance!? Diane is beautiful and adding layers may give her added youthful sass to her appearance?
Great episode! The changes you suggested help accentuate on Diane's joyful personality, she looks so smiley! If I may say, she needs to correct the shape of her eyebrows as a final touch to a stunning youthful look. They look broken and faint on a photo. More defined lines and more fullness in color density (a subtle touch just like for her roots) will make them more notable and help bring the eyesight of a viewer up! More attention to Diane's sunny eyes!
Diane has beautiful eyes and skin for someone age 70. One option for the cut would be to create a more layered/shorter side bang (just skimming her eyebrows but side swept). I like the brighter highlights you show (as an example) in her hair, to create more of a youthful modern look. Love your suggestions and these videos to play up best features!
I like the haircut on her, I agree with the bangs being short in a bit. My hair is curly and then frizzy but pretty much the same as what I’m looking at on Diane’s head. The more I hear you talk about darker or warmer tones on the roots, the more I want to do it. Good idea!
I agree about modifying the color to a little darker with highlights. Her current color does not seem to complement her skin tone. BTW, she looks amazing for 70.
This was especially helpful as I wear a similar cut/style. Hair appointment today as a matter of fact with a 'new' stylist. I always have difficulty conveying what I want. I take photos of color/styles I like but results are so, so. Thank you!😊
That’s awesome! I’m excited for you today! I can’t wait to hear how it goes! Hope everything turns out. Definitely take in photos of things you like as well as things you don’t want. That always helps the consultation process. Sometimes there’s more value in knowing what a client DOESN’T want actually.
@@justinhickox Oh no, dread awful. Took pics, explained I wanted hi-light/low-light contrast but wanting blonde to be predominate. Exact opposite. Mine always looks at it throws it aside and everytime I walk out same cut, layered and not what I wanted. from 15$ to 400$ always same you need just this
You Sir, are a genius! You hit the nail on the head and can't wait to see your next masterpiece and see what beautiful scenery you show us too! Love those views that "don't suck!"
Agree. I have a similar face shape perhaps a little more round, and a similar hairstyle. I do want to go natural though and I’m the typical dishwater blonde with some gray. I wanted to get away from the maintenance and wanted to see what my hair color actually looked like naturally. I started using curl cream once in a while because lo and behold I found out that my hair will curl and so I’ll just put the cream in and scrunch it and blow dry it that way. I would sure like to get your opinion on what is best for my face…
Dionne, get better soon!! And for Diane- she looks 50 years old!! I knew you’d suggest the shorter, angle cut in the back! I need to ask my hairdresser to do this! I have similar cut. I love the darker color mix which enhances her blue eyes. What type of bangs might look nice on Diane, if any?

I didn't hear you address the bushy hair part. I have the same thing and I'm curious about what you would suggest. As a matter of fact, I also have a round face, but my hair is longer and I want to get it cut shorter. It's also thin, unlike Diane's. Your suggestions for her were fantastic!
Diana, feel better. And Justin thank you as always. I keep trying to remember to have my husband or son take photos of me to submit because I have very fine hair and recently got it cut and feel like it's to short for my face but I was trying to thicken it up. Maybe I'll remember after work and all the soccer games etc. Lol Thanks again! We love you!
I'm watching this video two days late. So, Dionne I am hoping you are feeling better by now. My husband and I went to Mexico back in the 80's and I too was the victim of Montezuma's revenge.
Thank you! I’m so sorry to hear that you’re not feeling great. I definitely know how hard it can be to take a day off from the salon. Hopefully you get back quickly and are feeling good again soon.
So sorry Deanna feels sick. Brags organic cider vinegar (with honey and water if needed) can heal your stomach. Also raw almonds and raw carrots. Just a thought (these are great whenever you go abroad). Love the video. 💞

Great ideas and nuances. (Please feel better soon, I know the puppy will be helpful in this.) Diane is beautiful already. I loved when you pulled the hair off her face- she could so rock a short style, but I see from a previous comment/reply why you didn't go to a curve ball on this. The color idea was 'cool' (pun intended haha). Loved the idea of just adding a bit of length-that was a surprise.
Thank you! The pups are absolutely helping in her recovery! They’re VERY good at that! :) I totally agree, the short would be great and I SO wanted to go that route. You’ve got a solid eye for picking up on that!
Please tell "the patient" to get well! Re videos: Many of us (I'm over 70!) have chin lines that droop toward the back. Could you do a video specifically on that topic? J know bringing the eye up helps, but I tend to want to hide my neck behind hair!
I have naturally curly hair.. Or had. I quit coloring my hair in 2020 because I am tired if it and actually like my salt and pepper. The trouble is when I quit coloring my hair my curls went to waves. When I started coloring my grey at 28 my waves went to curls. I love and miss my curls. Is there anything short of coloring to bring them back? I can't curl my hair etc. because of my disability and pain. Thanks!
Ok, I just read stopped the video after her letter. Hair that is neither straight nor curly but dries “ bushy.” This woman has wavy hair and has never been taught how to style and use her natural hair texture! Omigosh, the potential for volume and movement in that sentence! First, I’d want to see what happens with her wave pattern when the right products and techniques to encourage that wave are used. THEN I’d cut to enhance that texture. Something to lengthen a round face, both volume at the crown and keeping the length past the jawline to camouflage some of the excess softness at her jawline in profile. Deep side part or side bangs. Her color is obviously beautifully done if just a shade too brassy a blonde, but those highlights are maybe a little dated? The bigger issue is how that blonde and her skin tone all kind of blend together. If she’s up for a really big change, I think a deep brown would make those gorgeous eyes pop! Ok, back to the video; can’t wait to see what you say!
I love this!!! I didn’t go exactly in your direction, similar but not totally, but I LOVE your ideas! I wish I would have gone to a dark as an option because it would have DEFINITELY looked great on her and, like you said, brought her eyes WAY out!!!! Great eye!!! Thank you for sharing this!
This is my situation exactly. I have always had coarse, thick hair with lots of body. I never realized it was wavy, because I’ve spent a lifetime trying to blow dry, brush, and/or flat iron it straight. For the past few years I’ve been letting it dry wavy, but I just can’t seem to get the right cut. It always looks messy. 😬
She and I could be sisters! Same coloring, same hairstyle (thank you for the tips!). Her before color is really pretty, but I liked the "after" color too. I would have loved to have seen a shorter style on her that works (just for personal reasons). I'm turning 68 soon.
Thank you! I totally agree. Sometimes it’s about Simply modifying the current shape to make it work its best. We don’t always need to completely change into a new style. I appreciate that insight and support.
when I look at her at 12:32 with the lighter tone all over, I think letting her hair go gray in the long term would actually be flattering on her with blue eyes. The way the hair is cut does make a difference and I like the shorter bangs on her with a round face. Shortening the back too helps.
Hey Justin! I’m late to the comment section but wanted to send your lovely wife some well wishes! Always inspired by your thoughtful suggestions that take hair styles to a new level of awesomeness!
I hope your wife feels better soon. One time I was chatting with my doctor and he commented that he had just come back from a vacation south of the border. I told him I would never go because of all the horror stories about the water, and basically everything it touches. He said the key was to drink beer and only eat ceviche... :)
I thought Diane was 49 or 50 and no older. She looks great! I do like the after photo in the front with what was done in the bottom area. Can't decide whether I like the area shorter around her eyes. And although she still looks good with the shorter length in the back, I'm really not a fan of that style. As for the color, either way is nice. I'm sure whatever she decides, she'll still look great!

I never realized it was wavy, because I’ve spent a lifetime trying to blow dry, brush, and/or flat iron it straight. For the past few years I’ve been letting it dry wavy, but I just can’t seem to get the right cut. It always looks messy. 😬
I CAN NOT BELIEVE Diane is 70! She looks amazing! 😍 ❤️
Would be interesting to see past models and what they did in response to your advice.
Your videos & opinions are so helpful! Please give short hair options for us older ladies who want short hair. Thanks
She and I could be sisters! Same coloring, same hairstyle (thank you for the tips!). Her before color is really pretty, but I liked the "after" color too. I would have loved to have seen a shorter style on her that works (just for personal reasons). I'm turning 68 soon.
Love the changes you made for Diane! Please hug your wife with our wish to feel better soon!
I love the changes you suggested!
Thank you. I’m so glad you liked them! Do you think she should change her color like we talked about?
Wonderful suggestions, most of which I can apply to myself. Thanks
I like how you altered that cut. It is so flattering on her, why change it? I think highlights will look good on her.
Thank you! I totally agree. Sometimes it’s about Simply modifying the current shape to make it work its best. We don’t always need to completely change into a new style. I appreciate that insight and support.
Yes! Looks great. 💗
Love your humor and scenery 😊😉😇
First, she is beautiful! Second, I would love to see her in short hair and ashblonde with low lights.
Happy Anniversary, Dianne!!
How would feathering affect the bangs on her face? Love the video
Hope your feeling better soon. Miss your smile.... and eye roll
when I look at her at 12:32 with the lighter tone all over, I think letting her hair go gray in the long term would actually be flattering on her with blue eyes. The way the hair is cut does make a difference and I like the shorter bangs on her with a round face. Shortening the back too helps.
Feel better soon Deanna!
Hey Justin! I’m late to the comment section but wanted to send your lovely wife some well wishes! Always inspired by your thoughtful suggestions that take hair styles to a new level of awesomeness!
Feel better you guys!!
Awhhhh, tell you beautiful wife I hope she recovers quickly! Other than the illness, I hope you had a wonderful vacay!!
