Matching your body shape. When I cut my hair from mid back length to bob length, a neighbour commented that being tall and thin, I had been totally pulling off that long hair.
My favorite tip was how it makes ME feel!!! My husband ALWAYS has something to say about my hair when I get home from the salon. Something always a little wrong. But as for ME....I felt great. Now I'm learning to rock how I feel and not let it bother me. I want him to always think I'm pretty, but at the end of the day, if I look in the mirror and hate what I see....it's not worth that. And seriously..........that Redwood!!!!!! How beautiful!
You’re spot in! The best piece of advice about beauty I could EVER give…”confidence is the sexiest style you can wear”. Period. I appreciate you hanging out today.
Doing your videos outdoors in nature is the best part, I love it! No matter what you do Justin, some people will always find something to whine about. 😄
Hello from a fellow stylist! The texture the trend is my fav, my wavy/ curly hair just won't do most of what I like as a trendy style...it always ends up looking dry and brittle from the heat I have to apply to achieve the "look". Even as someone who has been in the industry for over 30 years, it's being realistic with what kind of hairstyle fits all of the categories mentioned.
Hey. Thanks a ton for that feedback! I always love seeing stylists here! I appreciate the professional insight and support! 30 years is a solid career!
Hey I am a fellow stylist not sure of your color but I work with people of all races. Try African American shampoos and conditioners for dryness and I’ll tell you you’ll be surprised how much better it’ll be to tame and control dryness of your hair!
@@brimarie256 Thanks for this tip. My hair texture is unrecognisable now I'm in my 60s. For years I paid a fortune for perms in an attempt to have curl and waves in my fine straight hair. Now I'm in my 60s I have naturally curly hair - thinning, weak, dry curly hair. It's genetic from my Mum's side, so when I noticed the changes, I started wearing toppers. The topper hides a lot of my natural hair and the two blend well so people have no idea my hair is not all mine! It's hard to get my natural hair looking nice without a lot of work and product and I need a simple solution to cope with my hair as I have MS. I will give the type of product you mention a try! 👍😎
OMG last week I told my hairdresser that I wanted feathered layers and I didn't care if it looked retro. I'm 59 and I just have a really hard time getting my hairdresser to understand that I need layering and fluff in the crown area. I finally got a cut that I love and I think it looks plenty modern and am loving it.
Omg! Story of my life for a lot of years!! If it’s not a stick straight bob cut, they say it’s so outdated, you don’t want that! When I insisted, because I have tons of thick hair and cannot manage my hair all one length or straight, she butchered me because she could cut the layers, but didn’t know how to blend them. Haven’t had a cut in months because I am tired of them hacking my hair up!!
Yes! Me too. The younger stylists aren’t familiar with layers. My last one told me up front she wasn’t good at it. They are afraid of volume on the top lest it looks like the 80’s.
Lucky for you that you found someone to listen. I couldn't understand why no stylist would cut what I asked for, and TaDa it's what you said: they weren't around for layers and crown height so don't know how to do them correctly.
I loved this content. I’m at exactly that point of how to progress with changes in my over all look now that I’m in my 60’s. I’m healthy and active and have recently spent last 3 years improving health in all areas and health of my thinning hair. It’s all begun to pay off the last 6 months - really noticing improvements. During all this time and thru Covid I let my hair grow long and was wearing wigs until my hair thickened up. Here we are now with no wigs, thicker healthier hair, lost 40 lbs by improving diet and exercise/ movement…. But now what to do with my hair. It’s longer… straight…. Parted slightly off center fine texture and in same style as in high school (long straight, naturally blonde with no gray and all one length) So …. I needed this video. Still confused a bit, as of what to do… how to move forward- I want to have all 5 areas jive when I go forward with this new hair
YES!! This entire video was awesome! Especially #5! My husband always wants me to cut it super short like I had it in my early 30s but my face has changed and my body has changed and the trend would definitely be wearing me and me not wearing the trend and I wouldn't be comfortable with that style any more. Great job as always!
Thank you!! You’re spot on. The most IMPORTANT piece to this puzzle is that YOU feel great in it. Even if you look great, feeling great is FAR more powerful!
This was very good for me to hear. I keep wanting to go back to what worked before, but I have changed-- all that you mentioned. I wish there was an all in one style shop where you could get a total look-- instead of just hair and or makeup (a Find Your Style Store). It is definitely more challenging to look good as we age -- at least for me. What you say is so true and I can SEE it once you say it. It helps having you put it altogether for me. :) Thank you for caring and helping us. That really comes through in your videos.
As someone who is always watching and looking for the new hair trends, and have tried a lot of them and failed, I now understand WHY! Actually you saved me from leaving my current stylist who I actually really like, because I wanted a “ shag” and she nicely told me she did t think I would be happy with it. So she showed me what to do instead. I was kind of hurt by our conversation, but actually she was right! All 5 of these tips are important and key to looking younger! Thank you Justin, I love all the info you give us here!
“The whole package “ is very true - hair / clothes / shoes/ makeup / and keep in mind certain styles are more flattering than others. ❤ always love your videos❤
That’s up Holly! Thank you! And you’re so right! Not thinking about the whole package is like wrapping a Christmas gift without wrapping paper. Ends up not making sense.
Yes, I like vids that discuss upcoming trends. When I search, I usually end up with those magazine-type webpages that show 50 short haircuts for 2023 or whatever. Much more helpful to have the trends explained, especially with why it might or might not work for me.
You are bang on about body hair connection. Too often stylists suggest styles from the neck up and don't take body shape and clothing style into consideration. it's not about looking younger, but looking fabulous!
No. 5 "The Feeling Effect" is spot on Justin. I wish I could have long, healthy, wavy locks, but alas, I have very baby fine, thin hair and not much of it, so your "Texture the Trend" also resonates with me, so I stick with what I've been given and work from there. While I'm not really a "What's on trend" type of gal, I do enjoy hairstyles that match all 5 of your things to consider before getting a new cut. Please keep up with your nice scenery and videos on individuals and how to avoid aging ourselves. Great work!
All excellent points! Just something I noticed: I love the background with the snow, but your breath isn't condensing so I know you are indoors. That's perfectly fine with me as what you have to say is always most important and useful. I'm happy to have you in the salon, the studio, the office, your home, outdoors or edited in. Anywhere is just fine.
Justin, you nailed it! Menopause middle, wrinkles, change in my face shape, and even my hair texture (now curly after years of being fine and straight), have forced me to rethink my entire style choices. After having everything from a cropped pixie in platinum blonde when I was turning 40 to a long shag either in blonde highlights or my natural medium brown color, the hardest thing has been to embrace the change in my hair texture and seeing myself in curls and finding petite clothing in a style that pulls it all together. I am now 63, and looking for a "fresh start".
OY! Me too! After menopause…my former straight hair is now curly/wavy and straight in the back. I am also 63 and I really am not sure where to go! I so appreciate these videos!
Justin, you are so wise!! I wish I could find a hairstylist a knowledgable & honest as you! Your videos & tips are really helpful! Thank you & Happy Holidays!!
Texture is my biggest hurdle. It had gone wavy from menopause then I lost it all from chemo. Now it’s finer, thinner and straighter. Hard to find what works as you are starting from nothing 😂😂😂
Yes please do the trends video!! Also more pics of showing the technique transformations please. And it’s AMAZING how you suddenly remembered everything when you went outside!🤪
You are so spot on! I am having a hard time getting into a trendy style that fits me. I have always been conscientious of my looks, the complete look…I woke up this morning 74 years old😮…where has time gone…I am a sporty type but always felt comfortable and confident in my looks. I’ve always had short hair never longer than shoulder length and over the past 20 years or more short, just below my ears…my hair has always been very thin but fairly thick. Now it’s very thin, very thin maybe from Covid, but I’m not using that as an excuse, age I’m sure for the most part. I wish I could find a stylist who could evaluate me and advise a hair style that suits my body, my age and still be trendy. I live in Northern Illinois and have had several good stylists but none that look at me and give me a style that fits…in my mind I think a great stylist could advise and give me a style that works for me. Thank you for your tips! I love them! I need to find a stylist that would execute what you describe! I love love your scenery! You live in a beautiful place! 🤗 Judy
I love that you always show Grey, salt and pepper, etc!…you never disappoint my friend!!!…love seeing all the places you guys are!…gorgeous every single time!!!…I love the tip about doing my hair for myself!!!!…I finally gave myself the confidence to do me!!!…love my grey, never looking back!…another awesome video, Justin!!!!💜💜💜💜💜💜
I have many of those changes listed. My hair has always been thin, but even thinner now. It's so frizzy and coarse so it feels like I have to style it with heat everyday now to get it to look decent. If I pull it back, my face look even more cubby. The struggle is real. Thanks for your tips.
Thank you Justin this makes complete sense. In my case years ago I was really thin not so much the case today. I don't feel old I am in my 50s until joint pain hits me. A younger cousin in her early 40s asked if I had thought of coloring my hair light brown. I have colored my hair different shades of dark red. In March 2021 days before my dad's homegoing service was the last time I colored my hair. I became tired as I would color with box color. Now I am free and enjoying my gray 😌
Finally, after decades of hair texture and weight changes and bad haircuts by professions; I found your channel. I am another woman who used to have tons of thick, shiny and manageable hair. For Las two decades it has become fragile, thin and and frizzy. Went short & people loved it. Problem became that it needed cut so often and even going g to my guy, whom I love, I never got the same cut each time. Now I am growing out and aiming towards a Bob. Used to rock the Bob back in 70's and 80's but now to get it means product, heat and time. So thank you for all your information for us seniors who will all feel better about their style and themselves. Wish I had found you 10 years ago. Would have saved myself a lot of grieve & money 🥰
I think the A line or beveled bob is the 21st Century version of Vidal Sassoon's angled short bob of the Swinging Sixties. It was revolutionary to have the sides longer than the back.
I would love to see a trends video! That's always fun! My hair dresser gave me a fantastic shag cut on my curly hair. It's my favorite style I've ever had in my life and I get so many compliments!
I love this video because it’s is exactly how I am with my hair. I did many of the trends in hair but my favorite is the 80s big hair! Through the years I’ve had many health issues most recently breast cancer where I lost all my hair. Just having a hard time growing it back,I always had longish hair most of the time past my shoulders, although have rocked shags, pixies, etc. I can’t seem to grow at pass my ears. I’m 67 years old and my hair is now dry no matter how much conditioning and treatments I do, so I’m keeping it short. Not always loving it and I always have to tease the top of my hair because I feel I need volume because my face has gotten smaller and to me it looks rounder, although everybody says I’m nuts. To complicate it I have multiple sclerosis and cannot do a lot with my hair so my hair style has to be simple. My husband helps me everyday, and tells me he is not a hairdresser.😂 Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you
Yes, please share new trends! I’m guilty of being worn by a trend! Last year I wore a shag because I liked the retro aesthetic to it, and at 51, I thought it would make me feel young. It actually had the exact opposite effect!! I felt like an old lady with my hair like that!! It also didn’t really match my clothing style, which is feminine and timeless/classic. So, I went into a wavy bob with brow-length bangs. I think this style is flattering on me and matches the rest of my life. Also works on my maturing face and body, because even though I haven’t gained weight, things have still shifted unfortunately!😅
Wow thank you for sharing Julie, I was having the same thought process for my cut appt tomorrow. I even did a photoshop session with my current face onto an old photo of "the cutest haircut ever" many years ago. Was talking myself into the layers again but your comment and Justins' spot-on comment about texture is a cold-water wake up call!!! 😳
I had my style appointment 4 days ago, I mentioned you & shared with him a video of you working magic on your wife’s hair. He lightened me up so much I felt I left looking older, and you always post videos at the right time!!!! This video helps me realize the cut & color are correct, I just need a lil time to adjust and he knows I like the grow out and to wait a long while before returning to salon. I’m sure when my roots start to grow my color & style will be PERFECT.
Thank you so much! It’s such a huge vote of confidence when people share my videos with their stylists. Honestly, there are SO many stylists out there that are incredible at their craft…I feel honored that people consider sharing my content with anyone.
@@justinhickox well you & my stylist Joe could be brothers from another mother!! I made sure he knew you are in fact always teaching me the ways to express what it is I’m wanting to him properly so we both have the same mindset! I really appreciate that and I’m sure Joe does as well!
I shared one of Justin’s video with my stylist and unfortunately she wasn’t very receptive. I’ve been with her now for 14 months and I still don’t have the colour and cut the way I want it. I’ve got an appointment with her in two days and if I can’t get at least the right colour then I think I’ll have to find a new stylist.
Trends videos: I'm a sucker for them all when they pop up on Facebook BUT they rarely if ever explain what they're best suited for: face shape (jowls), texture, body type, glasses, etc. Please include all that when you feature styles. Thanks for taking us "hiking" with you. 🤩
I’ll definitely consider that. I just never know if people actually care about me making that video since there are SO many of them around this time. I appreciate that feedback.
I would love to see a video regarding trends. I tend to not follow them but I love looking at them. I know what you mean about the “feel”. I have worn my hair long and blunt cut for years. I have tried a few styles such as heavy layers and even a lob, but I always felt like I was faking it.
You might enjoy Nikol Johnson. She does hair, makeup, and clothes. She works as a makeup artist. She has a UA-cam channel and he has mentioned her on his videos.
First of all, I love that you do these videos outside of the salon! Great tips. I would be interested in seeing a video on the individual style trends. Thanks Justin!
Perfect video! Sometimes I feel my hairstylist isn't listening but it's really hard with today's costs to switch. I've often told her my body shape does not fit a style and she disagrees. Thanks again for the truth! Love to hear about new trends too. 😃
I can't say which tip helped the most because all 5 work together... In my teens and 20's in the 70's, I had very thick, wavy red hair that was past my butt. It was a major part of my identity. At reunions, my old friends would say, "Why did you cut your hair?" and my first thought was, "Seriously?" I worked in corporate America and it no longer worked for my life. Skinny jeans were a wardrobe mainstay for a decade, and now they look out of date. The trick to being current is paying attention to ALL the trends. Lucky for me, I have a daughter in her 30's who's there to help when I'm not sure!
One of my best friends had the same length hair as you, but blonde. Her long blonde hair was definitely part of her identity too. We have known each other since our early 30s. We are both in our mid 60s right now, though I am a few years older at age 67. Back in her late 50s, she cut her hair into a pixie. It looks really cute on her. I have had every length of hair there is, except shaved. For the first time in our lives, my hair is longer than hers.😄
Good morning 🌞 from 🇦🇺, Justin. I was sick of my wispy fine ends...so, after a wine or two (let's face it, I was pissed), I cut my hair into a lob. It could have ended in tears, BUT, I've never had so many compliments. 😁
Yesss!!! You are the first stylist I’ve heard to address all of these super important elements. Great content! Yes would love to know the upcoming trends for 2023. Enjoy your hike!
Like that you film outdoors and let your subscribers get beautiful views. There might be some that can't get out or afford to travel so thank you for that. Plus the hair tips and ideas are great!!😊😊
I have just turned 73 and my hair is thinning and it’s gray. I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with my hair. I don’t want the typical light bulb shape and I think swing bobs should absolutely not be worn by seniors. I may have to get a topper or wig. I’d rather have my own hair. Thank you for your channel. Love your mom. She’s so cute.
I feel like the "does the style work for your current situation?" is pretty insightful. Maybe funkier looks worked with your avant-garde style when you were in your 20's, but now it looks a little off with your sleek minimal style now.
Makes total sense AND I actually appreciate that you're not in the salon. It's less intimidating somehow as someone who is just a client and not a stylist. 😁
Boy was I breathing a few sighs of relief. Just got a signifcant shorter style today. In thinking of options I paid attention to face shape similarity to styles I liked - and nothing else. Luckily I could say "yes" to all your points. Texture suits. Clothing suits. Frame changes suits. Phewf! Made the change for ME....back to work on Monday so wanted a 'fresh and easy' look.
Feeling all 5 steps are equally as important. ❤ you help me stay balanced in my hair style. I’m one that would jump off a cliff, seeing a 20 year old rocking out a do! And then all I see is this 56 year young face saying what did you do Brynn 🤦♀️ I love my hairdresser he also keeps me in check. So Big Thank You 🙏 and wishing you and your family a merry Christmas 🎄 Blessed New Years 2023 🎉 you are change the old lady’s into chic lady’s 😊
I've been getting a shag haircut for the past year and I absolutely love it. I think I am rocking it better now in my late forties than I did when I was in my 20's. I think my hair texture changed a bit, but not too noticeable. Thanks for the tips, they're very helpful for the next time I change up my do.
I'm Chinese, and I have thin fine hair. As I get older (I'm 62), I find that short haircuts work the best. In fact, I just got a haircut this week. One trend I don't follow- not even when I was younger- is long hair. I don't know if it's true, I'm also short, and I've heard that long hair can actually make you look shorter. Also, I have wavy hair on the right side of my face. Not sure if it's called a cowlick. I wonder if that's common.
This was so interesting and very helpful. #4 for me stood out. My whole life I had super thick, straight hair. Pregnancy made my hair wavy. Now as I approach menopause (and for a variety of reasons) my hair is thin, weak and very wavy. It's been a learning experience to figure out how to work with a hair texture and lack of hair I never had before.
Great video! Great points! Great scenery! As always, thank you Justin! I’ve been wearing my hair in the same style for easily 30 years, longish blunt cut with bangs. Entering my 70s, it’s time for a change but I’m not quite ready to take the leap. Your makeovers are terrific because you listen to your clients, incorporate their thoughts and then offer great curve balls. Thanks for your weekly dose of inspiration. ❤️
Hey Justin! Absolutely enjoy you giving an outdoor adventure while dishing on the latest hair trends. What about styles that work well in humid places ? 🏖️🌴
I really can’t change much in my hair. It’s curly/ wavy, super thick and a little coarse. So layering is the best option. And I love my hair but would love to experience straight hair without so much work. What do think of a Brazilian blow out? I love your videos so much! And your nature walks. I wish I could have you cut and style my hair.
Great video!!!! thank you!!!!! Question: I am transitioning to gray for 18 months now and have lost a tremendous amount of root volume. I have tried TONS of product...Any recommendations?
Makes perfect sense to me. I made all of these mistakes with my last major hair cut last year. I got a pixie cut! Lol Wish I knew then what I just learned.
Great tips Justin!!! I’m a poster child for all the above!! 😅 I miss my curly hair and it doesn’t hold salon color sooooo I bought the box stuff at Walgreens and my stylist was not happy . The color holds but she said it has un even deposits and so on 🤷🏽♀️
In the past I feared getting a haircut every time! It often didn’t come out the way I wanted, even with pictures and the same stylist! Too often I would come home and cry. One of the problems is the stylists didn’t seem to know anything about face shapes and styles and there is little to no discussion. Lately I have found I have to bring pictures and directions of where I need volume or lift and where the length should end. I feel I need to be an expert on my hair to get the right cut. Less crying, more happiness, not every time, but nothing is perfect.
Wow. For me, this is probably the most valuable video you've done. I'm a hairdresser, too, since '93. I'm no longer in a salon (hospice nursing since 2011), but I never take my eye off the beauty & fashion industry (my armour, if you will). The points you make are the building blocks of my presentation to the world; there must be balance and proportion in all these areas. . .go macro. Just as in nursing, you must consider/treat the whole person. I have fantastic hair, and it has received a lot of attention, whether short and "Bonfire," or long & blonde. The interesting observation I've made is that people have complimented me in my everchanging hair landscape on a great haircut, color, or style, to which I agree, but the look does nothing for me. Christmas of last year, I went short, short ahead of shoulder surgery. I thought a one-handed hairdo was the answer. Big mistake! I've taken your advice and continue to trim nape until sides grow out. I have great color (I have enough white. . .no more foils). I was just at a Christmas party and had many compliments on my hair. . .all I can think to myself is thanks. Yes it a great style, especially if it was on someone else's head. (Think little Dutch boy). At any rate, I really enjoy and value your content, your energy, and sense of humour. Blessings to you and your lovely wife on your adventure! PS Apologies for the ramble. . I've not talked "shop" to anyone in quite a while.
Related most to #3 and #4 - my face shape (large nose, weak jaw) is what keeps me from getting a haircut. Also wanting to embrace my gray, not going to color and fight it. Enjoyed the lovely scenery on your hike.
I have a suggestion for future shows- What's the best way to talk with my stylist about how exactly I want my hair done? Especially when it comes to recommendations for different styles that go with my face shape etc. So, should I schedule a consult first or just explain when I get there?
Justin, you hit so many nails on the head! Last year I loved the new shaggy style and wore it until I lost half my hair due to CoVid. When it grew back, I chose a pixie style because my new hair was of course shorter than what was left of my old hair. Looking back at pictures of when I had the shaggy style, I'm not that crazy about it anymore and will probably keep the pixie for a while longer. I have very fine curly hair, so maybe that's why the shag didn't look so good. Yes, I would love to see the coming trends! And, if you can, would you please include styles for us with fine curly hair? Thanks so much!
These are such great points. I’ve always thought these things in some form, but you’ve put this into words that makes so much sense. One thing I’d noticed over the years with regard to hair texture (that may or my not apply to other people) is being aware of your genetics. Look at your mom, sisters, aunts, whomever in your family and take notice of their hair as they age. That might be an indicator of where your hair could be headed and how to mentally prepare for issues such as styling, maintenance, coloring, etc. In my family, the women tend to get thinner hair as we age. I’ve found a style (and a great hairstylist) that works with my thinning hair. In my opinion, it’s a style I like, looks good for my face structure, and is mostly on trend. Just a thought. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
@@khall999 it’s a long(er)bob, mostly blunt cut with long layers. Think Jennifer Aniston’s hair on friends around Season 2 or 3 when she had the darker brown hair. I have to use a few more styling products like hair thickening spray and texturizing spray, but it’s worked well for me.
Great video! I found the tip on texture the most helpful. When I was in high school my sister's best friend, Michelle, graduated from cosmetology school. Michelle wanted to try out a new cut on me. It was a solid 10 out of 10 cut on me! I remember going to school on Monday and my French teacher was so taken with my hair that she sent me down to the Art teacher to check out my hair. I got compliments from strangers. It just fit me so well. I felt like a rock star in that sassy bob with bangs. My hair has changed dramatically in texture since 1989 and that cut would not work on my now wavy and graying hair. I feel like I'm chasing a dream trying to find another rockstar cut. No cut or style has thrilled me like that one did.
YES!! Sir Justin, show us your thoughts on new trends for 2023!!!! I’m grey/almost totally white/platinum…I need updated and ME hairstyle yesterday Loved to know where the beautiful places you film so we might visit there, also, one day Keep it up, bro You make my day when I see your videos Your wife showing up occasionally is great fun, too Have a great Christmastime 🎄♥️🎅🏻
What would be really helpful is to illustrate how these modifications of a trend would look one way, make you look older, to the best way for the hair to make you look younger. A more visual approach I guess. It all makes sense but I don’t know which way is which if ya know what I mean.
I'm often trying to figure out which hairstyle will look cute on me with my thin, fine hair and work with my face shape. I really need to send my picture to you!
Justin it does make sense. I would love to see the new trends. I'm over 70 but I don't look it. I still want a cute style and I don't want a old lady style.
I LOVE how you and your puffer jacket talk about hair out in nature. 👍🏻👍🏻. You live in a beautiful part of the country. And yes, a video on upcoming trends, please. Waiting on that. Always appreciate your advice a bunch. 😀
Yes please! I would love to see some new hair trends for 2023! Especially for short and medium hair lengths! Thanks in advance! Formally from Bend, Oregon, your background makes me a little homesick!
Ok folks, which tip helped the most?? Love to know!
#5!!!!!
Texture tip
The tip about considering the whole look was a great reminder for me.
Matching your body shape. When I cut my hair from mid back length to bob length, a neighbour commented that being tall and thin, I had been totally pulling off that long hair.
@@melissagurney7727 yes! Texture! It's something that happens gradually. So you might not think about it. My hair is much curlier now than in my 20's!

Parted slightly off center fine texture and in same style as in high school (long straight, naturally blonde with no gray and all one length)
So ….
Valuable style tips..
Usually men want their women to have long hair like they did in school when they first dated. I think it makes THEM feel younger.
That’s amazing! About 15 years ago I wanted to create exactly what you’re talking about! A. Huge Undertaking but a cool idea!
😂🤣😂
😂🤣
Great work!
Yes please more videos the better. Everything you say makes perfect sense. Love it that you are outdoors too. Love seeing the scenery 😊
Definitely a master class. You are addressing hair as attached to a human being in the process of living her life. Love it!
The purple short haircut looked great on that lady.
That's my mom, she's pretty awesome. I'll tell her you said that, she'll love to hear it!
I’m with you in not enjoying going from stick straight hair to wavy. Straight was so easy for me.
Exactly! Me too.
My hair is still very straight, I do hope it does not curl, although at my nape is getting frizzy!
OY! Me too! After menopause…my former straight hair is now curly/wavy and straight in the back. I am also 63 and I really am not sure where to go! I so appreciate these videos!
I can so relate to everything you said!
As gray slowly comes in I really liked the texture part .
What’s up!! Great to hear from you as always! Love hearing that you found that confidence! Rock it Linda!
My rule of thumb is, if I'm old enough to have worn in the first time, I'm too old to wear it when it comes back in style.
I think the A line or beveled bob is the 21st Century version of Vidal Sassoon's angled short bob of the Swinging Sixties. It was revolutionary to have the sides longer than the back.
This made so glad I was raised in and live in Montana. I’ve never thought much about any hair trends and it sounds exhausting!
I would love to see a trends video! That's always fun!
My hair dresser gave me a fantastic shag cut on my curly hair. It's my favorite style I've ever had in my life and I get so many compliments!
Yes. Do the trends and especially the Texture the Trend!
I LOVE THE OUTDOORS!!!! AND YOUR WIFE IS A GEM AS IS YOUR ADVICE. THANK YOU
I love this video because it’s is exactly how I am with my hair. Thank you
I love that you are in nature, screw the negative weirdos, it’s great that your not in a stuffy salon. Good on you.
Yes, share the new trends in hair. I look forward to your Clips every Tuesday. Keep them coming!
Yes! New trends please
I am beyond thrilled that I have NEVER cared about "trends". PLEASE do what you love with your hair. NOT a so called trend
Definitely do an upcoming trends for 2023. It would be great if you could also show both a good candidate person and a bad candidate for each trend.
Trends videos: I'm a sucker for them all when they pop up on Facebook BUT they rarely if ever explain what they're best suited for: face shape (jowls), texture, body type, glasses, etc. Please include all that when you feature styles.
Thanks for taking us "hiking" with you. 🤩
Could you talk about hair styles that are better for the thinner, drier,. frizzier hair of menopause?
Makes perfect sense. My face, body & texture has changed. I’m 60. I love ur videos!
Yes please show us the trends
I’ll definitely consider that. I just never know if people actually care about me making that video since there are SO many of them around this time. I appreciate that feedback.
I would love to see a video regarding trends. I tend to not follow them but I love looking at them. I know what you mean about the “feel”. I have worn my hair long and blunt cut for years. I have tried a few styles such as heavy layers and even a lob, but I always felt like I was faking it.
Thanks for the insight! And I hear ya about feeling like you’re faking it. Feeling good in your style is SO powerful!
Thank you! I appreciate the support and I’m glad you like the scenery as much as I do. Also, thanks for the insight on the trends video.
I couldn’t agree more!! Failure to change in life is the worst trend for us all!
That’s awesome!!! I’m so stoked you like it! I’m such a big fan of the bob shape.
Yesss!!! You are the first stylist I’ve heard to address all of these super important elements. Great content!
Yes would love to know the upcoming trends for 2023.
Enjoy your hike!
Yes Justin, I would love to see the hair styles for the coming year. Love your videos! Thanks
Yes, please show all the new trends. It would be soon much fun!
The style wearing you and you not wearing the style...perfect way to articulate it.
Like that you film outdoors and let your subscribers get beautiful views. There might be some that can't get out or afford to travel so thank you for that. Plus the hair tips and ideas are great!!😊😊
I love how you teach out in the wilderness. Great advise! Thankyou
It makes such sense. Thank you for being my teacher! Each of these points is helping me to make the decision to cut my long natural straight hair.
Makes total sense AND I actually appreciate that you're not in the salon. It's less intimidating somehow as someone who is just a client and not a stylist. 😁
I am a hiker and I love the setting of your videos!! Salons are hideous compared to trees and the mountains!!
I totally agree that the overall look makes a huge difference!
Thank you! I also love that you say “56 year young”! So true. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
Amen!
Yes! Do a video on trends for 2023! Beautiful scenery! Thanks for all the "hair help!"
The color holds but she said it has un even deposits and so on 🤷🏽♀️
Justin don’t know where you are located, it’s awesome. Yes. I see the mountains… amazing !
I think all five tips are pretty much on point!
I have a suggestion for future shows-
What's the best way to talk with my stylist about how exactly I want my hair done? Especially when it comes to recommendations for different styles that go with my face shape etc. So, should I schedule a consult first or just explain when I get there?
You continue to amaze me👍👍
I try! LOL
I love your videos! My daughter just moved to the Portland area for grad school this past August. I knew I recognized the beautiful background!
The texture trend helps me most. Thank you - love your channel. Happy New Year!
You given something to think about. All good points. I was thinking of changing to a hair style I loved 25 years ago.
What style did you find that worked for you…
@@khall999 it’s a long(er)bob, mostly blunt cut with long layers.
I felt like a rock star in the ‘80s, when my stylist called all his other staff over to learn how to cut thick hair. Today, not so much! 🙂
Have you considered a French Bob
As an Oregonian, I get it. Love the scenery
Please do a video on styles and hair care for middle age curly hair!
YES!! Sir Justin, show us your thoughts on new trends for 2023!!!!
I’m grey/almost totally white/platinum…I need updated and ME hairstyle yesterday
Loved to know where the beautiful places you film so we might visit there, also, one day
Keep it up, bro
You make my day when I see your videos
Your wife showing up occasionally is great fun, too
Have a great Christmastime 🎄♥️🎅🏻
What would be really helpful is to illustrate how these modifications of a trend would look one way, make you look older, to the best way for the hair to make you look younger. A more visual approach I guess. It all makes sense but I don’t know which way is which if ya know what I mean.
I'm often trying to figure out which hairstyle will look cute on me with my thin, fine hair and work with my face shape. I really need to send my picture to you!
Texture made a huge difference with my hair!
Hey Justin! Yes, please make a video about upcoming trends 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes! New trends, please! Merry Christmas to you both!
Breath of fresh and thankyou for airing all our (my) unspoken questions 😽💐
Justin it does make sense. I would love to see the new trends. I'm over 70 but I don't look it. I still want a cute style and I don't want a old lady style.
You are so right on!!!! Love your videos!!!!
Thanks so much!
I love that you shoot your videos outdoors!! Pretty sure that's how I found your channel.
And combining hairstylist tips too is a nice bonus.
I LOVE how you and your puffer jacket talk about hair out in nature. 👍🏻👍🏻. You live in a beautiful part of the country.
And yes, a video on upcoming trends, please. Waiting on that. Always appreciate your advice a bunch. 😀
Good points about trends and appreciate the info about aging hair and texture changes. BTW, love that you are shooting this in my neighborhood. :)
Yes please! I would love to see some new hair trends for 2023! Especially for short and medium hair lengths! Thanks in advance! Formally from Bend, Oregon, your background makes me a little homesick!
