The Wetbike is actually a blast on the water. It's a shame it wasn't stored properly, it was in sad shape! The 60 HP version is well balanced and has tons of power. There is a learning curve though. Your main problem was the fuel tank. First, the stock tank sits low in the Wetbike and holds 10 gallons of fuel. That adds 60 pounds and puts the center of gravity low. Secondly, when you punch the throttle, you have to stand up and lean over the handlebars. Your weight has to be forward and then it will pop right up on plane. But your test tank position prevented you from being able to assume the correct position for launch! Good try though, especially without any instruction. If you had been able to get it up, you would have had one helluva ride! Hopefully, the new owner will get it going again. You really did him solid at $1000 for both units! Great video and it brought back lots of fun memories. I have hundreds of hours riding time on wetbikes in the 80's and 90's out on the Colorado River (Yuma area), Pacific Ocean, San Diego Bay and Mission Bay! Those were some fun times!
So cool to hear about this! Riding in the Pacific would be so cool. Really all of those places you're mentioning sound Scenic and that would be such a neat exploration. Do you still have any or did you get rid of them long ago? I find it hard to grow out of them. Exactly right on the fuel tank. And that price was amazing, I'm jealous. I'm glad he didn't get hurt, I would never want to be that near a dock when mounting one of these, even though I have ridden for years. Even though he can't do the full crawl to mount correctly with the auxiliary tank there, starting it while you're off the bike and then trying to jump on from the side is a disaster. I would never try that, when there's a dock next to you to fall back into. Most of your riding sounds like it would have been scenery fit for the commercial they advertise these in. I'm jealous :/
Enjoy your videos, I'm a tinkerer like you, picking up old abandoned stuff and getting it running, enjoying it for a while and then moving it on to someone else
The best part about your summer videos is that I know toward the end after you fix it, I’m about to see you take it out in the water for a rip. Absolutely love it!
You make me jealous. I’d LOVE a project like this…. Especially for 100 bucks!!! Are you kidding me with that price? It would feel SO productive, just cleaning all the crap out of it!!
Ants most likely ate that foam. I cut up a Chris craft boat about a month ago, and halfway thru cutting the bow ants started pouring out like water. After ripping it apart, you could see all the passages the ants had created. Great video as always chris.
My brother resurrected a Wetbike many years ago and I’ve ridden it quite a bit. “Leaps out of the water” is a bit of a stretch. But one that runs well is still nostalgic fun. It leans into turns like a motorcycle, and doing so to the point of dragging an elbow takes genuine courage.
I love finding, fixing cheap, selling, getting things where they should be. I like how you finish your videos with with a real life conclusion. Thank you for these!
Brave man, that launching experiment was kind of crazy scary lol. We are glad you're fine because we need more vids my friend it is impossible not to enjoy your content! Say hi to Jen and Gus please 👍🏻
Some of the best audio editing ever!!!!! “Floating partially submerged, with a twist of the throttle the WetBike leaps….” Fucking hilarious! Whoever is responsible for this should win an Academy Award!
The talent never ends I wouldn’t carry on with that project either You bring so much talent may all your endeavors end well you’re truly one of a kind.
I cringed a few times at the beginning of the launch but like a great bull rider... you hung on to that thing and got the best ride anyone could get. Another great " will it run " and it's always entertaining to see you operate things under their own power.
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at one of your videos 🤣😂🤣🤣 the scene of you trying to get it going with the voiceover “with a twist of the throttle.” You had me crying 🤣
When tuned and working correctly and with the 800cc engine it is a LOT OF FUN!! Seen a ski with a 950 twin 2smoker and it was absolutely perfect for it like it was meant to be. SO much fun. Thanx4sharing thanx4caring!! AWESOME channel.
I think there were only 4 people that could actually drive these wet bikes the way they showed in the video. Those were the 4 guys. I have been watching your videos and am very impressed with what you do. I would love to be able to find cars and fix them to get them running. I went towards building homes and projects. I think I know just enough about cars to get me in trouble. If I was able to actually take it apart I could get it back together pretty well. Don't ask me to fix something on the fly. Loved the episode with the Chevelle.
I also enjoyed the Chevelle episode. He is good at fixing things quickly, I wish I was that good. You would be surprised how little it takes to ride them like they do in the advertisement. Most people could ride them impressively in under an hour, well enough to feel confident in their skills in less than half that time. Don't get on from the side (same for any jetski) and get the fuel tank out of there since that's where you're supposed to be sitting, then you just have to get a feel for the steering. Not hard. Not sitting far enough forward at takeoff makes it want to pop a wheelie and then you can't steer it all and not many people can balance that way anyways, like riding a bike wheelie.
Just happen to come across this video. Ironically, I used to have one and it was a blast (until it got stolen). Just to let you know, the procedure for starting off is: 1) slide onto the seat by pulling yourself from the back and up to the sitting position using the handle bars. 2) once sitting on it, then you start it and take off. Great video and good job getting it running !
My friends parents had one growing up. They were hard to ride and I can remember his dad working on it or taking it to the shop many times. Was fun though. Thanks for video
Very true lol that's the factory instruction for a lot of maintenance. Will take you less time to pull the motor and replace things then to fit a wrench in there and make micro turns until accessories loosen.
Another great video Chris, thanks for posting. Sometimes it's best to throw in the towel :) Have to agree with "Dan Smith" and his comment on the commercial voice over - comedy gold! Side note: My sister-in-law is from the Vineland area and she calls what Gus was doing "The Zoomies" too. I had never heard it before, until I heard her say it about ten years ago. I looked it up and it seems to have originated in the early 2000's. My friends and I have always just called it "Idiot Mode" :) Feel free to try it on for size and if you like it, use away... no copyright infringements possible. Cheers, Sev
Great video man! I had a couple wetbikes in the 00s and this brought back some amazing memories. The old footage is rad. Those things are a ton of fun when you get used to them. The trick is to get on from the back and go full out until it’s on plane. They’re basically uncontrollable until it planes out. My first day out looked very similar to yours. The best part of owning those things is watching people get the hang of it.
And right when you think you are the coolest dude on the water that overweight pile of underpowered dung hi sides you and slams you into the side of the pile...Had one back in the 90's.....Never did like it over Jet Skis.
First, your poor shop vac…May it Rest In Peace. Second, you have an incredibly amazing wife! 8 months next to the deck, good shower curtain…amazing lady there😉
Dude, sometimes I wish you were my neighbor; I would of told you those things were a pieces of junk! Brand new they weren't that good. I give ya a lot of credit for getting it started & using it a much as you could.
This was a fun video. I really like how after you are done with a project, you send it off to a new owner. I'm already looking forward to the next video. Cheers
My hats off to you brother. Most people probably would have edited all your attempts to ride that sled. Lol. Like you said I’m sure it would have been easier without that gas tank in the way etc. I know understand why I’d never heard of this type before. I’d definitely put the carbs back on the other motor for sure. Good luck with that beast.
Something I have learned that helps when pulling a cable whether throttle or hood latch, attach either wire or a heavy string to the end so as you pull it out it gives you the path to put the new one in, just tie it to the end of the new cable and pull it through 😊
Hey Mate! I'm really liking the content, You, Jen and Gus make a great team! 👍 You've inspired me to put some gloves on and have a crack at the jobs I've been putting off for too long! 1 lawnmower up and running.....now for the next one! 👍
I love your videos as you just don't give up. If it has a motor you will bring it back. What use or longevity it has is another story, but what a cool watch.
These always caught my eyes as a kid in the early 80s. My dad got us two of the first 440 Kawasaki Stand Up jet skis back in the day. The days are gone where me and a friend would take off in a boat loaded with shot guns and gear and we may sleep on a beach on the river bank for a couple days. No cell phone or adults around. We were about ten years old and never saw a thing wrong with it.You come up with some nice projects but I am always partial to the water toys.
Yessss.,…bout 20 years ago I bought a pair of these things off of Craigslist not running for $150…needless to say the fuel pickup’s were no longer existent…..easy fix, whenever I brought them to the water it would alway draw a crowd and the best is when your unassuming friend would hop on it think it was easy to ride like a jet ski…..just to see them get up on plane for maybe 2 seconds and then get tossed 25’ over the handlebars…….good times, they are fun to ride once you figure it out, but even funner to watch people that don’t….
Another great show. I believe that you will tinker with anything that should have moving parts regardless of how hopeless it appears. And test runs, well more guts than James Bond on that death machine. Another highly entertaining production from NNKH.
Dude I just love your videos everything I watch everyone you put out and I've been trying to catch up on all the other ones that you've Uploaded before great job keep it up
New subscriber to the channel! Found you a few weeks ago and really dig what you do! Your overall knowledge of everything mechanical is awesome! Love the way you have your garage setup too! Keep the vids comin!
Cool video dude little disappointing to see the wet bike is a pain in the butt and it's funny your chickens just laid their first eggs because today my chickens just laid their first egg
Well you got it running. I think what was holding you back like you said was the tank in your way. Not being able to put your mass where it’s needed is a big deal with that machine. Anyway you got them cleaned up and running and off to someone who can use it and not to the dump. Mission accomplished.
Definitely true, that fuel tank preventing his body position and weight from being in the right spot did not help. Not mounting it from the rear and getting balanced before trying to start it was also a problem, I've ridden these for years and I would never try and start it and then get on from the side
So funny I have 2 of them. They were originally made by attic cat snowmobiles. Still have them sitting in garage. My dad bought us one brand new in 1979.(1980) Side note we had ours before James Bond! We were like how cool is that to have something before him!
Love your videos! I scored an 84 Surf Jet a couple years ago. Picked it up for 50bucks. Did a full restore on it as it had been sitting for close to 30years. Had it repainted in Sublime Green 2 part epoxy paint with a pearl finish. Thought my girls would love it. The rode it once and wanted a seadoo. Lol. I ended up selling it as it was pretty awkward to load and unload. I ended up getting a bidding war and got 2900$ for it. I'd love to find another one.
Playing the original ad voice over as you struggled to get it moving was gold! Laughed my ass off. Another great video man!
Totally agree! :)
And now the fun begins!
The Wetbike is actually a blast on the water. It's a shame it wasn't stored properly, it was in sad shape! The 60 HP version is well balanced and has tons of power. There is a learning curve though. Most of your riding sounds like it would have been scenery fit for the commercial they advertise these in. I'm jealous :/
I,ve got that model. I still love mine. And yes you can get parts on the internet. Much more fun than a jetski
Enjoy your videos, I'm a tinkerer like you, picking up old abandoned stuff and getting it running, enjoying it for a while and then moving it on to someone else
22:10 I thought I was the only one that works like you. Nice to see I am not alone
LOL....that friendly chuckle at the beginning of the vid sold me on this channel.
The best part about your summer videos is that I know toward the end after you fix it, I’m about to see you take it out in the water for a rip. Absolutely love it!
Lol didn't he take a boat out in the fall or winter too?
He was riding icebergs in one episode
You make me jealous. I’d LOVE a project like this…. Especially for 100 bucks!!! Are you kidding me with that price? It would feel SO productive, just cleaning all the crap out of it!!
“And now the fun begins…” 😂😂 and that music! 😆 man, the satisfaction of reviving a neglected piece of historic machinery. 😊👍🏁

This dude gives hope to others that any Morton can be worked on and started no matter what shape of form it's in.
Haha the commercial soundtrack together with the test drive was just perfect
Sitting here and when you launch the bike, I'm thinking. "That looks like falls township boat ramp." Good video neighbor
It appears that Gus has gotten into his groove as the canine supervisor.
Brave man, that launching experiment was kind of crazy scary lol. We are glad you're fine because we need more vids my friend it is impossible not to enjoy your content! Say hi to Jen and Gus please 👍🏻
Bro, you have a drawer full of spare parts for everything imaginable! Love it.
Loved this. Brought back memories of almost drowning myself in Ocean City's back bay with my brother in the early 80's trying to ride one of these.
Some of the best audio editing ever!!!!! “Floating partially submerged, with a twist of the throttle the WetBike leaps….” Fucking hilarious! Whoever is responsible for this should win an Academy Award!
Giving hope for life to mechanical equipment everywhere. You are an inspiration to we would be backyard mechanics.
That 80's synth montage: perfect. It reminds me of me teaching my friends to ride my JS550 stand-up back in the day.
The talent never ends I wouldn’t carry on with that project either You bring so much talent may all your endeavors end well you’re truly one of a kind.
I love coming home and seeing a new video
Gotta love those old Japanese motors ,my honda set 13 years an after a carb clean and a mouse removal it fired right up! Great videos!
I cringed a few times at the beginning of the launch but like a great bull rider... you hung on to that thing and got the best ride anyone could get. Another great " will it run " and it's always entertaining to see you operate things under their own power.
honestly watching chris trying to tame that beast for the first time in the water is the funniest youtube I've ever seen
WOW YOUR A PRO. GREAT JOB. I BET IT'S GREAT FOR SOMEONE WHO IS REALLY LIGHT
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at one of your videos 🤣😂🤣🤣 the scene of you trying to get it going with the voiceover “with a twist of the throttle.” You had me crying 🤣
Hhahhaha. How dare u 😂😂

Man. You're quite the cracker jack. Love watching your tenacity and quick thinking for solutions. Thank you
Welcome to the wetbike community. If you need any parts or knowledge holler at me.
Awesome! I remember them in one of the Police Academy movies.
Great find. You're amazing. you will tackle anything. That's true talent.
I like your detail in cleaning up your projects before you get started
Lol you looked over it before you got it all the way on the ground 😆

Great camera work on the dock! Framing was spectacular.
Lol, yeah last time I give him the GoPro
My friends parents had one growing up. They were hard to ride and I can remember his dad working on it or taking it to the shop many times. Was fun though. Thanks for video
Frickin awesome, almost bought a set of these from marketplace a few years back... I'm here for it
Best case of just easier to pull the motor to work on I've ever seen
Very true lol that's the factory instruction for a lot of maintenance. Will take you less time to pull the motor and replace things then to fit a wrench in there and make micro turns until accessories loosen.
Greetings from Poland.
Cool Wetbike Snow ski Machine i never heard of this model it looks sweet!
you restore my faith in the younger gen! dont mind getting the hands dirty,Jen hang on to Chris he's a keeper
He sure is. I’m more impressed by him every day.
Love the late 80’s/early 90’s music. Cool to see you getting it running.
Thanks!

This was the best video I think I’ve ever seen!!!!!
Ain't nothing you won't resurrect!!!😎😎😎 very satisfying to watch a salty ol pro!
Never seen one of those. Interesting. You tear into anything, that's why I like your channel. 👌👌
Original commercial!!- you legend.

Watching you ride that thing with the old voice over running had me rolling on the floor.

My dad and a few friends had wetbikes back in the day. They were a friggin blast. I used to get huge air behind big boats. Way more fun than a jet ski
I *loved* these things! *SO* much easier to ride than a stand up jetski.

What I liked is the you got it started...... great job 👍
Hiiiii. just started watching your videos and i LOVE them! I’m learning so much from you!

Another great show.

Another highly entertaining production from NNKH.

haha picks at the trailer rust like you're about to dig into it. I love it!
Hilarious watching you flail around on that wet bike😂. Good job gettin er running!
Great videos! Would love to see another bass dumpster video.
What a shame you were so close, it never got up on plane was the problem. I used to have one and its an awesome machine when working properly.
Awesome! 😂😂😂. My uncle in upper Michigan also is a bulldozer collector and restorer.
Bro trust me once you get the hang of riding the Wet Bike there an absolute blast to ride.
You are the man bro. Love this channel. Love you like a brother.
