I saw a kobalt
Looks fun
coi 78
Didn't understand what i was looking at when this thing dropped, truly custom build! :D
Proud to see my creation getting some love. I built this truck from the ground up.
Good stuff man! Glad to see the video of reached you.
Great job, John. So much work in the little Tonka!
No I built it
Love it
Proof
My father had a 1980 Suzuki truck like this on the farm we had. It was a 2 stroke, self mixing 550cc engine 4x4. I believe he lifted it about 2 or 3 inches with 30 to 32 inch mud tires. That thing was amazing as a farm truck, there literally was nothing it couldn't do better than any Ford or Chevy truck on the farm and mud that would easily sink a Ford or Chevy was a non-issue for it. We had it from 1983 to 1998 when he sold the farm and the little truck with it. It still ran great. I loved the fold down sides on the bed. Not saying I'd run it as a daily driver on the road, but as for industry/farm work, I'd choose these over anything. Basically a UTV on steroids is how I'd describe one. Amazing piece of work someone did to this truck, a head turner for sure.
I used to import these Japanese kei trucks. They are unbelievably reliable and it is usually something catastrophic like a broken cambelt to stop them from running.
Great machines offroad with a set of 25's and a lift kit.
Some of the Suzuki and Daihatsu are supplied with factory rear diff lock.
Full credit to the builder of this little machine.
i see them in the Philippines they are cool AF !!
I built that truck on almost no budget out of parts lying around my shop. It served me well. I could back up and pick an atv up and walk out of a mud hole 3 feet deep.
Your da man! Much respect to make it work with what you had.
How does the extension boom slide out when it is lifted? Thats a awesome build!
Awesome build
Bitch stop lying it’s not you cause there’s someone claiming they built it in the first comment pinned
@@elliottramos2149 Same guy.... He just commented twice. You dont pay attention to what you read eh?
This thing must be so happy to get back to life it’s a amazing looking unit I can’t believe it ran that fast it was like it was just waiting for 5 years.
Those little Mitsubishis are starting to become popular, but in the realm of “Lowered Street Style” with some power adders to bring up the HP to around 100-ish. This is a very lovable rig that could pretty much go anywhere any time of the year. Great work on the MacGuyvering and keeping her together.
I've ALWAYS wanted one JUST LIKE THIS for a elk hunting rig....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe
Those are actually a bit bigger than these Suzuki/Daihatsu trucks
LOL! The angle of that driveshaft! I am surprised it lasted ten minutes!
IKR?????????
Same here I thought it would make five min. But the angle of the ring and pinion prob. not getting proper oiling becouse of there angle...might overheat the gears...
Well he had good intentions gut didn't have the experience...
@@peterrivney552 Still a good way to learn. Learning by mistakes and practical experience is better than learning from a book any day.
I'm amazed it moved! I've done some Rangi af repairs in my time but I'd never let it off the lift like that.
Cool concept, terrible execution.
"What's that you said? You need a tow? I got you buddy here we go! Oh if that ain't awesome i don't know what is." Agreed. This video literally made my day. Well done!
Awesome to hear you enjoyed it and thanks man!
This is by far my favorite mini truck, and I be looking at mini trucks!!
Well done, bringing this cute little monster back to live. Great improvements - hope you have much fun with the little beast!
The steering box is ready to yeet itself off of there, even with the fix. What a fun build. Every time I come across one of these truck videos I start looking around to buy one. It will happen one day.
Haha yeah, I felt like this thing was going to rip off when I was driving it around. Seems to be holding up though! Definitely needs some more bracing
If you want fun buy a Suzuki samurai and put a set of super swampers on it. The things are unstoppable
@@jarrettmorris4692 I have own one Zuki whit 31 inch on it was body liftet and hat A 2´Lift kit on it too
It was unstoppable
Its perfect budget garage build toy ;) perfect for atv/side by recovery vehicle
They were only $600 a few years ago
Sure is one unique machine, pretty impressed with the craftsmanship. I can say one thing for sure, I think I learn something new every time I watch your videos which is much appreciated as I do some tinkering on stuff quite a bit myself. Glad this cool little truck got back out in the daylight, thanks to you.
WOW Brother sure wish I had your skill set! lol Very cool rig, and the tow option is just wicked! I actually know of a similar truck that is decked out like a Firetruck. Great work man, looking forward to the upgrades!! 👍😎
Cool build, I would've done the drivetrain different but still cool. I bet that front gear chunk would rotate 180 in the axle housing to make it left drop and still run in the proper direction.
I like how you modify the shocks, and also doing the alignment with strings. Just awesome.
Growing up my dad had the minivan version to this and these lil bad boys were just awesome... That sound brought back memories
Just found your channel. Have to say that is the best Kei truck ever.
Hands down the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time! I seriously wish they were mass produced I would buy one in a heartbeat!
They are in mass production they are foreign built all over Asia
@@joshuabennett7334 oh I know but they are stock!
Awesome find, with great bones. And a lot of room for restoration and customization
That's a party vehicle. Take it out of the woods drink some beers, smoked a little weed, eat a bag full of shrooms. And then, "hey man, let's party down and climb some hills with the Tonka truck.🤟🤟🤟
It broke my heart and ruined my day when you said it wasn't yours. I assumed you had purchased it. I want to see more!!!
Yeah unfortunately just working on it for a friend, but I'm pretty much welcome to use it or do whatever with it. I'm just afraid of breaking it because as you see in the video it's pretty fragile. If you have ideas for future video on it let me know
We had the Chevrolet version here in Ecuador. Powered by a 1000cc Suzuki engine.
Mitsubishi makes ones like that, that can be imported into the US. Been seeing more and more of them
This one is the Mitsubishi mini truck! Like a mini Mitsubishi delica!!
Oh wow that is sweet, I love it 🥰 If it was built in a workshop with a lathe and milling machine it is awful and if it was built in a shed with an angle grinder and a stick welder it is a work of genius :D
Agreed!
I agree too
Ok so for a 'mini" vehicle it's cool as heck! I would love to see somebody redo some of it. Not destroy it's look just beef it up a bit. Fix the suspension so it works good, a little extra power under your bootay a better winch on the tow thingy and a new set of wheels n tires.
TOTALLY FREAKIN' AWESOME! I had one of those as a kid! GREAT work!
Thanks man.
That's a sweet little rig you have. I would just improve it as I go If I were lucky enough to own it.
This is kind of ridiculous, and so freaking cool at the same time, awesome job to the guy that built it, great job, love the lil towing / winch setup also.
Can't help but love it. Appreciate the concept thought 's you put into it. Concepts = Test Drives = The Good's and the obvious Re-Thinks. A great look/see tor those who can't help but ponder such matters.
THAT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF WORK, AND, ....TWICE AS MUCH FUN!!!!......
Looked to me like you already have a nice trophy, :) Cool truck I hope to see you make it something that won't have to be repaired every few uses.
I have a truck similar to this. The motor went out on my car so now my mini truck is my main mode of transportation. I use it for door dashing.
I didn't anticipate all of the attention however. People constantly tell me how cool it is. They even take pictures of it.
What I like about it the most is that it's not hard to work on.😊
That is one neat little Tonka !! The guy who built that thing had a stroke of genius !....or maybe just a stroke...lol !! I love it !
That is officially certified: AWESOME! :)
Im in love with this little truck man glad to see your bringing her back to life
Ever since I first saw the Honda Acty Pick Up Truck in London in the 1980's I've loved these tiny, forward control vehicles!
Unfortunately, London traffic is NOT where you would want to be in these trucks because the crew cabin doubles as the crumple zone during collisions!
Even quite low speed impacts present grave risks to the occupants, and after inspecting the remains of two which had been in frontal collisions I decided that they weren't for me.
I look forward to seeing your adventures with your Tonka Truck. Subscribed.
In the UK a boat building company called Island Plastics manufactured one piece fibreglass, demountable campers for these trucks, which you could place on the stands and drive away!
They were hugely popular, and if you do a Google Images search for the Honda Acty Romahome you'll find them, one would look good on the back of your Tonka Truck!
That is one cool toy.Excellent ingenuity a pleasure to have found this gem of a video.🤪🤭😜😎
This is the greatest video ive watched ever lol ive been wanting to do this for years! but like properly and not as big
Great video! I love seeing the creative ways that folks engineer parts to just make it work. It's fun and it makes it unique. Very cool build and great job on fixin her up.
Thanks man
Instant sub, this is the kind of stuff ive been lookin for
Sweet now we need to hear the speaker’s.
THAT THING IS AWESOME!!! All I know is I want one!
Hells yeah man!
Never wanted one of those mini trucks until this video, that's pretty slick!
I honestly didn't know they made a 22 shell that was basically a mini shotgun cartridge. That little truck was full of all kinds of surprises. Hats off to the creator for such a cool build.
Needs large balloon ATV tires' kinda reminds me of the Stomper 4x4 toy trucks with those tires on it, I love it!
That's so fricken awesome. I've been wanting to build one for a number of years now. I now have a better idea of what it's going to be to build a solid truck out of one
Sweet, good luck on your build! I feel like this truck has a lot of what not to do on it. But looks cool in the end
that truck had alot of love put into it ..that is one capable lil truck..once all the flaws are fixed there wont be much that will stop it ..absolutly love it ..
This is the 3rd kei truck clip UA-cam sent me. A Daihatsu, a Suzuki and now a Mitsubishi.
The Daihatsu was driven through Australian outback offroad trails. Cool vehicles.
This thing is so freaking sweet dude
The steering box brace needs one more tube to form a triangle. Then it will be stiff.
Seeing this makes one realize just how much thought and engineering goes into modern cars.
Right!
That is sooooo cool! Tonka toy for men. Looks to me like this vehicle is meant for strictly off-road use! Back in '78, I purchased a full size Blazer, brand new. Once I put 37" Gumbo Mudders on it, highway driving was horrible. Those tires are not meant for the highway, what I see when I look at the whole vehicle is a total off-road vehicle. I'm 69 years old, and I don't remember seeing anything like this in the U.S.! They were probably offered only overseas. But, man, what a vehicle! Bet the off-road ability of this vehicle will be next to none! Thanks for the video. These are what I love too see. Be safe! Oh man, what a great video. Thanks!
Truck night in America would probably love to see this thing
I'd love to have this little booger for my grandson I may just have to build him one.👍
I'm in love as soon as it turned into a tow truck.👍🇨🇦
My pops had one of those fully stock. I Used to zip it around the lake and through the sand and mud. It did pretty good for what it was. I wish I had that little orange beast now. I just found your channel and now I have a "bingeathon" to keep me occupied waiting for the snow to melt up here in Alaska. I picked up two "minty" K5 blazers....no, I cannot fib neither of them are anywhere close to "minty", but I have plans, muhahahaha. One will become a swamp buggy and the other may just be my new snow plow truck. Anyway you are awesome, always happy and excited and I hope via screen osmosis and a lot of knuckle busting on my part I can gain some of your mechanikination skills. Keep up the good work.
Such a cool truck. It put a smile on my face the entire vid man. The rear winch.. That is craazy.. And the vibe at the car show too. Love it.
The more blingy and chromed plastic looking a 4wd vehicle looks, the less I like it. This is indeed a smile machine, I would love to own!.
That is so awesome very cool would love to find something like that to build
I love those mitsubishi mini trucks! They are like a mini version of the Mitsubishi delica!! I used to drive a mitsubishi L200 triton barbarian 4x4 and a Mitsubishi delica in the cuban maintains and those things are unstoppable!! Love the video!!
That's an awesome mod of a Kei Truck!!!
Looks like there’s a slide out attachment in the bed for towing stuff.
I believe that was the frame to support the tow lift arm since that wasn't attached anywhere else on the rig. Probably made from an engine hoist.
Excelente trabalho! Parabéns!
Watching this video then seeing you're in my of the woods blew my mind. I live in Bensalem, and very familiar with the big oak shopping center, etc. Great vid. Just subscribed
Something about this thing and all it's little quirks just makes me love it more. Like I need to adopt it and work on it.
Haha yeah it's shit box features and quirks definitely make it unique.
Saw one of these for sale today in Barboursville Wv at a grocery store parking lot
You just gave everyone a load of fun thank you ...
100% becoming one of my favorite channels .Keep killing it 🤘🤘
This is my first video of yours...and of all the things i could say this one comment comes to the top.
When the world goes to shit...I'm on your team!! You are good at what you do sir.
Also: really good video editing and production
was impressed
Thanks
Been dreaming of some land and something like this to drive in it. Really cool rig!
New to channel, this is an awesome lil truck. Good to go through old episodes whilst I'm confined to bed and can't work on my own projects
Another cool vehicle that's measured in smiles per hour 😉
I have the exact same truck and I love it , little 3 inch lift and she goes through almost everything, great for getting fire wood
Awesome!
Keep an eye on the auto choke my Mitsubishi is the same year and the auto choke always gives me some BS, but definitely the best $4000 I've ever spent on a toy
@@slowburn_1725 Cool, thanks for the tip!
@@slowburn_1725 You can disable the choke if you want. If its like mine you can just take the spring\coil out.
@@mikescudder4621 is it a late 80's Mitsubishi minicab ? If so I'm assuming you had similar issues, it will idol and run fine one second then you take off and it sits on its face and wants to stall out..
These lil 4x4 trucks make awesome hunting trucks or small farm/property management vehicles.
Love this Tonka truck! It's a beauty!!!
5:45 perfect example of when you don't live in the U.K and you have a right hand drive.
great videos dude! awesome to see you sharing what you love doing with everyone, I was watching some other car related channels here and this popped up next. (its your old buddy Chris Y.)
Oh hey what's up! Thanks man and I appreciate you checking out the video.
Exciting when you get to start it…yeah baby
That’s REALLY cool.
I feel like theres more to the tow/crane system than what we saw. The big yellow T bar thing and some other parts in the rear tail gate. They seem like they come out, maybe as wheel cradles?
I think that is the brace that holds the arm to the bed. Otherwise it would rip that thin metal
Yes Ryan's correct about that.
One thing I regret in life is not knowing how to do any of the mechanics you did to this truck! Awesome job though!! I have a friend that has one of those trucks stock and it’s absolutely the worst riding truck (suspension wise) I’ve ever been in.
I friggin LOVE this thing!! The new caretaker of this mini monster is gonna have TONS of fun, and to all the haters, if you can do better, then do it. Not being rude or spiteful, just saying to build a toy to your specifications and stop putting other folks builds down...there's enough hate floating around, let's just have some fun with things that are obviously built solely for the purpose of having fun...
Fun as hell to watch... Now I want one
I will buy my husband one as soon as i can find it.
You're a good woman, in BC they aren't cheap anymore.. damn hipsters
A hammer and an adjustable spanner. What more do you need? I like that vehicle :-)
I got a locking adjustable torque hammer at walmet for like 12$
@@yzrippin I got a 12 v one that fits on a battery from Lidl, about your equivalent of Harbour Frieight for a few pennies, clips on a car battery , not much beats it.
Those all over the Philippines cheep too
This little truck is awesome!! I wish I had one just like it!
There’s so much I learned from your videos sir and for that I thank you. Keep the content coming out
I hope your not letting anyone else drive that with that kind of work being done on it...
The people's reactions were priceless. Can't believe the cop didn't pull you over haha.
Haha yeah, that was great. Especially the kids reactions
I've got the Suzuki Carry, 1994. I just can't believe this truck actually moves under it's own power! Unreal, trust me. The 3 banging straight 660cc only puts out around, what??? 42 horse with around 49 pounds torque ???
They are a lot of fun to drive and talk when people approach asking what the hell>.....
After sitting for a Few more than a few years, I had mine running in less than 30 minutes as well.
Quick turn of a screw driver to the carb, clean it out really well, put air in the tires and took it for a ride.
still running great! Indestructible.
Is this your first set of swampers or really aggressive tires? Lol.
Boggers make everything ride bad. I can't imagine how bad Boggers are on something that small.
I had some 44's on a 70 Blazer when I was young and foolish...lol and yes I rolled it...lol ....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe
Yep!
日本でもここまでワイルドな軽トラックない!すげぇ!
Apparently quik clips are great for tractor pulling to keep your tractor straight by balancing out the air pressure in tires... Oddly though no matter how hard I try, they don't do much for my bicycle.. 8D
How cool mate where did you get this thing from? Just started watching this. At least the steering wheel is on the correct side haha Jeremy Downunder
Keep safe buddy and all your family thanks for the happiness and fun
Thanks man, will do. And right back at you to you and your family! Appreciate you checking the video out. Thanks Jeremy
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow You are welcome and thank you. You are great with your hands and knowledge I love watching you do the work where I have no idea. Keep them coming buddy I'm a fan that's for sure. Jeremy Downunder
Considering how the rest of it is built you should just weld up the spider gears in the back of that thing don’t waste the money on a locker because it’s obviously never going to see street duty when I welded up the rear diff in my old Jeep it would go more places in 2 Wheel Dr. with a welded diff then it would go in four-wheel-drive with an open diff
The pacing of your videos is perfect. Never a dull moment!
Totally custom built you say? I don't think anyone would have noticed with that level of craftsmanship.
If I were a betting man, I'd say that it probably wasn't meant to be driven on the road after it was modified.
NAAAA...SURELY YOU JEST
