I fixed many a boat like this with a froze and busted block. Simple patch gets u back in business. That no pressure cooling is the key. Love this one! What a beaut !
This boat brought back lots of memories as a kid. My parents friend owned a Formula that was from the same vintage/ very similar. Was blue on the bottom instead of the red. His was a 19' cutty cabin, mercruiser/ 350, etc. Only thing different i can see in the hull off the jump is yours doesn't have the larger 'walk-thru' style cabin, as well as no hatch on the cabin, which makes sense since its a smaller one. His boat had these nice teak doors, and a shitter/ nice cushions down in the cabin. $500 is an absolute steal either way Chris! Can't wait to watch this one, and I agree that gel coat should come back to life pretty nicely! Thanks for sharing! 👍
@18:06 - Bro, you should definitely check out that induction heater that Andrew was just using. That thing looks like a real life-saver in bolt removal situations. All the heat of the torch without a flame.
@@davidbryant3532 I don't think anyone claimed it was. It's arrangement in that particular configuration is a novel use of a proven technology which, in my never humble opinion, is worthy of a remark.

It's so cool you live across from me, literally the park you let in from is like directly across form Beverly / Burlington City. You went under the Bristol Bridge, which is a private bridge believe it or not, and the tolls go to help the Vocational School here in Burlington County.. Also that power plant is a main station for PSE&G in NJ. I go past there every day on River Rd. going to Florence to see my mother in law or to work in Burlington. My brother works at The Union something or another part time second job, anyway, it's neat you produce content form my neck of the woods. I talk about you all the time to random people I meet around here.. a few even watch your channel Chris. So cool..
I see people doing this a lot. Vise grips and channel locks grip much better if you rotate the wrench the opposite way you used them. Love you guy's videos !
Great information. I always enjoy the drone footage, the shots of you arriving somewhere as if you have another camera person waiting. The bike ride through the drainage spillway was great. You guys fear no adventure. Excellent episode.
hey KKNH love your videos! The rust when you dropped the lower unit was from the exhaust, if the new plugs show signs of water or rust after a run then change the manifold and riser. merc recommends every 5 years (guidelines i follow for salt water boats). I have seen flushed fresh water 'trailer queens' go for 10-20 years on original exhaust system but better safe than sorry especially if you see big bits of rust in the exhaust bellows or passages in the drive. Please don't reuse that gear oil 😅
Hey chris , along with all of your accomplishments and abilities I am always impressed by your drone photography. Been watching you for about a year now. keep up the good work.

Great video Chris!!! Thanks for the content. Can't believe that deal your buddy got on that boat. Wow!!!! I love the drone shots you throw in almost every video. Very cool!!! And Gus was being his usual awesome little self!!!!
The 80’s and 90’s Formula boats are super cool and great build. I’m in North Wales UK but there are quite a few here. We had an active importer here in the 90’s and there are some gorgeous examples like the 303’s with twin 454’s and straight through transom exhausts. They sound absolutely awesome!
When heating a bolt like that or stuck lug nut, after heating, pour some water on it and immediately begin to loosen. The two metals will cool at different rates and it usually comes right out.

I noticed the prop on your boat is aluminum! We had the same configuration. My father would take the prop to a shop every year to have the angle of flutes checked, and the flutes recuped. Of course, we would use the boat lots during the year. It did make a big difference in speed, and performance.
I have to comment on the 'Fire Extinguisher' to be sure you understand how the retardent inside will cake. In the months and years of idle position the powder within cakes and then does not disperse well if at all when needed. Ergo it is important to monthly if not more often take said device and turn it upside down and knock it againt something stout. This will break up the cake and reduce it again to a loose powder. This technique I learned from being trained to drive school buses. During daily pretrip inspections we were told to perform the task of removing the extiguisher and giving it a turn upside down and a smack to the cylinder to be sure to loosen the retardent within. I still perform this technique every now and then again with my RV's extiguisher. So Chris if this is news to you I hope it has given new life to that sedentary extinguisher.
I love this combination of fixing, then cruising and just you fellers spending time together and taking us with you! Much love and waiting for the next video ❤
Dude!! That was Puerto Rican music at the end when you arrived at the Doc....I was like how did he make it to Puerto Rico??. Lol....to me it was a Pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the boat rebuild series. You're a cool dude!
I've got a tractor with a Yangdon Y85, bought it in 2008 and still going strong. Serviced regularly and has never missed a beat. That boat was a great find for $500!
I like the boar content however, what really made me smile is the fact that you are still dailying the Terino. The ford elite is my favorite car of all times.
glad to see you can use that old fire extinguisher!!! In fire training in the 70's we were told if that is what we had to fight a fire it would be best just to throw the can into the fire and run for your life. I survived!! I love this channel with Jen and Gus

Wow.. for 500 bucks holy smokes that thing on the outside is like in showroom condition compared to all the boats I've ever seen. That alpha 1 looks brand new!!! Wow.. I'm just at the beginning so we'll see what's up with the engine, but even still at 500 bucks who cares! edit: yeah man that flooding from up north was nuts.. I live right across from Neshaminy (down a little but still I'm just past Croydon on the NJ side)
With the machine shop bill, Jenny's is now an 800 dollar boat while he probably has 600 in his by now. But I think the usable cuddy might be worth 200, and the loss of top speed.
That is one beautiful boat i must say your boat is really coming on and i know once you and jen have finished it will also be a beautiful boat and very reliable lov e your channel ❤
Love your boat videos Chris. Do you have any boating mishap stories? I have been trying to fix up a bayliner with the 2.3L ford, looks just like the trash liner, and I was trying to tie it up during a storm at the dock and I went to step off the bow and the boat pushed away and I fell in the water and had to swim after the boat and it bumped into another guys boat, but thankfully it didn’t do any damage. Probably most embarrassing moment of my adulthood so far lol. Live and learn.
I have the omc 3.0l it had that same lifter tap tic tic tic tic. You can do 1 of 3 things.. 1= adjust the rocker arms (under the valve cover) 2= add a Dem to your oil it's called rislone (it loosens the stuck lifters) 3= replace the lifters) I did buy the new lifter, and still have them. What fixed my tic tic tic tic was the rislone, and a slight valve adjustment. Hope this helps. Bonus was I got WAY MORE POWER AND SPEED OUT OF THE 3.0l after I did that..
It was cool meeting you and Jen last weekend at the brewery in Carlisle after the Chrysler show. Hope we can do it again sometime! Keep up the great content! - Evan
Was there a small breach in your hull in the cabin area? I thought I saw sunlight coming in. @5:56. Your buddies Ram is nice! Got that fuel ratio dialed right in!
Not that I noticed. I think that was just the color of the fiberglass coating or something sprayed on there. Or maybe a previous repair. And yeah he's got a nice RAM for sure!
Chris, I have a 28 foot regal now that sucks down 20 gallons of gas an hour but used to have a brand new 21 foot citation that looks just like your boat. Had a merCruiser V6 in it That only burn about 5 gallons an hour. I always put the plug on the inside of the boat in case it falls out while running. was wondering if your boat is a citation. They don’t make them anymore. barely use my regal these days because it empties my wallet every time I take it out
Love the videos made me want to get my 1974 fiberform on the water after it being out for 39 years. Got it out and had outdrive issues in the upper unit nothing that can't be fixed lol.

and the freeze plug on the back gets blown out and you gotta pull the engine to replace it.
Jennifer moved the shed to a great spot 😊 thanks for sharing today with Gus, and Jennifer ✅
