Tim does a great job telling us about the new Yaesu FTDX101MP 200 watt hybrid SDR transceiver. Due out this year!
    Hybrid SDR Configuration
This is not the FTDX101D. Yaesu FTDX101MP 200 Watt SDR Features: In addition to the Narrow band SDR receiver, that boasts overwhelming Basic Performance, the Hybrid Configuration Digital Processing with Direct Sampling SDR permits inclusion of the superb Real-Time Spectrum Scope. *300Hz and 1.2kHz roofing filters (Optional).
I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my UA-cam channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

Tim is a great guy and will answer all your questions about this radio. I’m getting back on the air after a long time being off, I called him at the factory and he was more than happy to talk with me about it or any concerns I had. Tim really believes in the product he promotes and not just some b s salesman. Tnx Tim.

I'm new at this hamradio but I use SDR but I use the extra processing power through a gaming card and an Intel i7
For less than $200 and a homemade antenna got the schematics online .
If you want to keep this hobby alive you need to make it affordable for everyone just by 2 cents.

Very important======= if you want the additional crystal filters/ you must order a radio with them already installed by the factory and pay a $30 each feel free to have them installed for you and calibrate it. If you buy this radio without the filters getting it done later is a pain of mailing the radio back to the factory

W4ZXT tipped me off to this video. Excellent explanation Tim. My gut told me this was the first "TRUE" sdr transceiver. It's a very powerful technology that really has not been tapped until the advent of this transceiver. What I'm waiting for is for someone in the community to write low latency drivers for say... an HF+ and come up with proprietary noise reduction algorithm's to install into SDR Console. Hands down the best vid to date on the 101d. Thanks K0PIR. Fantastic job! 73

K1GMM Green Mountain Maniac Thank you for commenting and thank you for watching. It’s all Tim as he did a great job explaining it. If you listen to the first part of the video you’ll get the gist of their SDR. Best 73!

@@HamRadioAdventures Yes, I'll tell ya they really did their homework. I guess it would suggest "he who hesitates is lost" from a developmental standpoint isn't always true. LOL I admire R&D departments that wait to see what everyone else is doing and then come out with something that stomps them all into the dirt. They really have a great grasp of what this stuff is capable of. No more baby steps! Thanks again brother. 73.

Tim is Great. I found out about the relay issues, non user install filters , and possible fan noise after I ordered. Was able to return as radio was still in transit.
Know its a great radio, but so is my 7610.
I will wait until these and any other issues are addressed. The filter install(and VC Unit for sub) requires the 101 to be sent back to Yaesu..
Hope it will have the APF/TPF function as does the 7610.
Thanks Rich for all the 7610 support.. The 7610 is still a great SDR with a LOAD of features..

GWB 251 thank you for the information and thank you for commenting here. Nice to hear from you.
I was completely unaware of those things. I didn’t have any trouble with my 7610 or my 7300, knock on wood. I think that Icom has a very well priced SDR radio and given all of its features it is still the best radio for me. I like Yaesu and I especially like their transmit SSB audio quality, but I’ll stick with my 7610 for now. Thank you so much again and have a great day, Best 73!

With Yaesu any buyer is nothing more than a Beta Tester.Always issues.I'll keep my ICOM 7600 any day over anything Yaesu has ever produced.

I'd have one and may, after a certain point numbers don't matter... just comes a point where numbers are non-recognizable to the ear. Noise floor is always the enemy. When the electronic engineers install some type of advanced artificial intelligence driven phase shifting capability via two antenna's into these modern rig's a new jaw dropping RF experience will follow.

I think the 200 Watt version has its power supply in the outboard speaker box, be sure to watch out for that as you are buying. One other question is that it was possible to put inside or remote outside the FC DX9000 line of low and middle band noise filters. Look up what could be bought and put inside the 9000 or can be out boarded behind the have to uh 2000 karma there's filters for 20 meters and below could be something you really want if your lower band operator/////////////

Very good interview. I’m hesitant about the max 3.2 tx bw but not totally. The importance of sdr is indeed what he’s speaking of. The backend too. Which the icom 7300 drastically failed at. It can only get better from here with sdr radios.

Yeah I am wondering if he knew what I was referring to when I said TBW, but maybe the Yaesu is like the flex and can go wider than 3k. Thanks for watchnig and thanks for commenting. Best 73!

Finally, IF Out... and I wonder what else distinguishes it from the 101D model. Plus, it appears that the MP release will be near the time of the K4 release - which may top the Sherwood rankings (an unknown quantity currently).

    • @williamstaylor5449
      @williamstaylor5449 5 років тому

Also, besides very clicky relays (in the 101D and most likely the MP version too), I noticed that the mouse movement on the external screen was not smooth at all.

Not everyone is interested in CW though; so the K4 will need to have exceptional SSB if it is to surplant the FTDX101. I really like the idea of the K4, but almost everything I read about Elecraft is CW.

Thanks for the video!! Very informative. Great radio, but late to the game. Kenwood was months late. Yeasu is nickel diming you for the VC on second tuner, remote box, and two filters per receiver. Full kit may be pushing close to $6k. Bend over!!! From another video the QSK relays are extremely loud. No doubting its performance, but need deep pockets.

  • @1OFGODSOWN

I am sure I am not the only one that noticed that the so called band stacking marker did NOT take him back to 30 meters where he started before he set it at about 7:28 of the video.More BS from the SCAMMERS at Yaesu. They discontinued the FT-9000 because it had issues yet they have released another radio & want to say it's like the FT-9000? If you buy a radio from Yaesu then count yourself as a beta Tester. They have far more issues with new releases than all other companies combined I believe.

This review was pretty good, with the exception when Tim didn’t know something he told a lie you cannot plug a traditional keyboard into this radio, if you don’t know something say I’m not sure find out the answer for the customer don’t lie. NOT COOL❗️

The Oracle I just got my QST magazine and saw there is a review in there. It’s hard to believe you can’t attach a USB keyboard to it. I’ll have to take a closer look. 73!

Yaesu' first SDR release. I'd stay away from it. Waayyyyy overpriced, 1st release, flimsy knobs, aside from VFO. Loads of plastic and looks like Japanese karioki machine by there choice of lighting colors you can't fully change and the facial design. The FT-5000 is still their tip of spear radio. Let them refine this 1st SDR entry. They were hard pressed to release this ASAP. The Icom 7610 is a much better real time display and over all design and exudes quality. Yes I've played with both of these and am a Yaesu fan. 73's
