Great reaction, as usual. I love the arrangement and the key changes. Agnetha's voice is so beautiful but, like you, I do think its a little too short. I loved singing along to this back in the day. I saw the Voyage show for the 2nd time last night with my daughters and husband. Still amazing and hope to go again next year for my granddaughter's 10th birthday as she is mad into Abba too. I'm looking forward to more of your Abba reactions. 👍😊👍
For me, this is without a doubt one of ABBA's very finest early recordings with the multiple key changes, building instrumentation and lush layered vocals. 48 years on and it still gets me. Kinda see what you mean the 'Ring, Ring' album thing though - it's more danceband than pop in a lot of ways but a beautiful song regardless. ABBA songs often did, and still do, take a few listens to take root. Thanks for reacting, as always, love watching what you do.
I have so many memories from this time 😍 My cousin and I mimed to the songs ( I was always Agnetha 😉 ) and we forced her brothers to be Björn and Benny 😂 Love your reaction David, thank you so much 🙏
Absolutely love love love this song with its wall of sound and key changes and the echoey chorus! Give it a couple of other listens, can you already hear the drums (Fernando)? 😉

Amazing reaction my friend!!....In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just It was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coach, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 and 5 years have passed since then, but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you...You have to be prepared because you ar going to receive an avalanche of views, comments and new subscribers....I leave you one more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html
I always liked this one - the non-stop choir and is that really a double key change?! You're right though, maybe there's something missing - apart from Agnetha's two brief solo lines (you can hardly call them verses), this song is one long joyous chorus.
One of my favourite ABBA songs where the boys take lead vocals (for the most part). It's a shame you had to keep pausing as much as you did, as there are 2 or 3 key changes towards the end of the song but I think you only picked up on the one due to where you paused it. We understand why you have to, it's just a shame that you didn't hear it in one listen.
I did hear the key changes, but yeah I know, it kinda sucks that I have to do that. It is what it is with reactions I guess. But nonetheless, I am happy I heard the song. Also a bit of comfort is that I always listen to the entire song afterwards again without pausing it. =)
David I really love this song ,Agnethas vocals are purely ANGELIC and are contrasted by Bjorn and Benny and the combined backing vocals of all four, and I think and feel that this song is exactly that,a vocal choir based song with a full instrumental background that does not impede on the vocals .To actually put more beat and percussion would start to erode the vocal intensity and purity,for me ,the right balance of instruments delivered in perfect fullness as to not inhibit the true core of these vocal arrangements.I find this song perfect and moving emotionally, ABBA at their best ,intentionally playing with our emotions and manipulating our senses to take us into another dimension, a surreal song that definitely never ages and continually inspires.Thankyou David for your take on the song and I respect your analysis.
Drums are in there buddy! Just more subliminal to achieve that famous wall of sound. Agree its a great parting anthem for a show. Funny with the Waterloo pronunciation! ;)
Hi David I do really appreciate this early ABBA song it’s a very soothing and refreshing song 🎵 It’s a lovely song to listen to when haveing one of those romantic meals 😉💕 So easy listening
Struggling a little with English today I see. It seems to me the word 'Waterloo' sets things off lol I tend to agree with your take on this, I think the rhythm is a throw back to 60's music - listen to The Ronettes - 'Be My Baby' and you'll see what I mean, that was a song released in 1963
Yes.Totally agree with you on its '60s fraganced music influence.(Ronettes vibes/ Phil Spector vibes all way through).In 'Dance' these sounds are kind of nicely 're-polished', the romantic early '70s Abba way.I also hear similar hints on the later 1976 recording of 'When i kissed the teacher' epecially on its outro.I remember reading in an interview decades back from one of the guys(Bjorn i think) saying smth like 'you can't create music if you haven't heard music before'.Pretty natural.
Have had this album yes original vinyl, with years of listening to all the abba albums for so many decades to me it’s absolute abba sound that is instantly recognizable as ‘abba’. Like your video add ‘ins’
I envision the four in an open top convertible on a warm sunny day. Bjorn and Agnetha in the front seat with Bjorn driving. Benny and Anni-Frid in the back seat with Benny sitting behind Bjorn. A huge body of water is to their left, maybe an ocean. They are singing this song while enjoying the warm summer breeze. Very nice mellow song. A hidden gem from ABBA that has been discovered. Awesome reaction video, as always!
It's ok for you to call this "the second album", I think 🙂 I really like the wall of sound technique on this song... maybe that's why it seems like it buries the drums in the mix, and we wouldn't do it like this now. Thanks for another great reaction. Enjoy your week.
Hi David, l absolutely love this song. And l completely understand where you are coming from re. the drums. For me, l it's more of a waltz type song. As for the dejavu ' Ring, Ring ' feel..maybe this song was meant to be on that album and later decided to put it on ' Waterloo?' Just a thought! 😉 Needed to hear this today. Thankyou gorgeous! Take care! Ciao!😎🤗
From memory I think the track was performed live in the Australian concerts but it did not make it into the film. Some sound recording captures were not up to scratch sound wise and were omitted. This may have been one of them.
That iconic GHV1 '2 couples in the wooden bench' photo cover and the one from the 'helicopter' ARRIVAL album plus Frida's palm thermic print from the DSMD cover sleeve are such 'sacred' era symbols for me that each time i bring them in my mind i feel my heartbeat grow louder.
As always, I really enjoyed your reaction, and I agree with you about something missing. I don't know if it was drums so much as the girls' (or at least more of Agnetha) voices. It's an okay ABBA song. That said, I wish you could step up your ABBA reviews. At the rate you're going, it'll be sometime around 2050 before you're done, and I'm too old for that. You hooked me with your early reviews of Voyage and then you started looking at other stuff. Maybe one a week? In any case, it's fun watching you do your thing.
Thank you 🙏🏻 Yeah, I know what you mean. I really try to do it om s regular basis but its hard because I have limited time and I cant ignore my other subscribers 🙏🏻 I hope you understand 😊
If you do any research on this song you will find it was written as a tribute to 1950s and 1960s music icon Phil Spector. Who was credited with developing the recording technique called the wall of sound which Abba is famous for using.. This song oozes fifties and sixties sensibilities including their drums or therefore lack of... I just love this song...
Heard this as a kid finding and... um... loosing...both love and romance... loved it back then as I do now. A guy song for a change :) Yeah, it has the early days ABBA sound GivenToe and that that endears forever *smiles*
This was one of Benny & Bjorn’s early favourites. It was included their first Greatest Hits album but was the only song from that LP that wasn’t a single anywhere in the world. Also Ring Ring was 1973, not 75 - sorry ;)
Hi! It was funny with how you were struggling saying the right words today. 🙂in the beginning, just before 2 minutes, I can hear a weird extra electric guitar in the background...? In the version I know, that isn't there...... I like this song! It gives me a feeling of dancing forever and never wanting to stop. 🙂
Hi! Heheh yeah some days it just wont work hahah 😂 Yeah I heard that guitar too, it almost sounded out of place. But yes, the song itself is good and as you say, very happy and makes u wanna dance!
I've heard it before and think it's really good actually! So it clearly gets approved by me👍 And everyone has their own opinions and that's totally Okej David 🥰 BTW I loved your intro 😅

If he doesn't know this song he will react to it, when he comes to the "The Visitors" album. At the moment he reacts to the "Waterloo" album and then he does all albums in chronological order so the next will be the "ABBA" album.
I have loved and loved more this songs with the years passing, it's really well developed in my opinion, and has very sweet spots all throughout. I love your reactions, but this one stressed me out 🤭 since you kept pausing just before the key changes 😅🤣, which are some of the main points and attractions of the song, so it didn't quite flow from segment to segment, hence sounding quite more repetitive. Thank you for another ABBA reaction GivenToe :) and its always funny to listen yo your "waterloo" struggle 😆
As a lot of ABBA songs do, it probably grows on you after a few times. Wouldn't surprise me. Hahah yeah, Im sorry about that. Sometimes its hard for me to know when to pause cause I have a hard time knowing when the song is about to change. This wan was even harder. Thank you for commenting, and I am glad you enjoyed it =) 😂😂😊
Interesting you said you felt like it was from the "Ring Ring" album (I think another reactor said the same thing) because this was the first song they recorded for the Waterloo album.
I totally understand: to me it sounds like a very long intro to a song that never begun. But a very beautiful intro, that keeps growing right to the very end of the song. But it is a good song and I love it. You`ll get used to it.
Hi Given Toe! What kind of music do you like? this song is one of the better ones of ABBA, no more drums needed. When you get to the song : Ido,Ido;Ido,Ido,Ido they have saxophones. It´s like that with ABBA. They mix different instrument if you listen to The Way Old Friends Do . They only have one accordian and Ode To Freedom and there they have mostly violins. Best regards Madeleine
Hello there Maddej! I like a LOT of different music. I listen to everything from ABBA to Rammstein. I love metal but also older music styles, as ABBA for example. Saxophone is my favourite instrument so that sounds like something I wanna hear! This specific song made me feel something was missing. No other ABBA songs has made me feel like that so far. Which is interesting because its a good song, and beautiful. But it almost felt like a section of the music was missing. I don't know why.

It’s my favourite song, you kept stopping the song before its key changes which would’ve spoiled it for you, you need to listen to it all the way through, it’s a brilliant song back in the day when they were starting out 👍🏻
Yeah sorry bout that, it's hard sometimes to know when the key changes are coming since I never heard the song before, but I'll try to keep that in mind. I do always listen to the songs in full afterwards though =) Have a good day Eddia!
It's an amazing song - top 3 for me!! But unfortunately the production is terrible. Drums, guitars, bass are sub par. Abba's first 3 years had a mixture of excellent, & terrible production!! Their 1st single "People Need Love" had amazing production!!
Great reaction, as usual. I love the arrangement and the key changes. Agnetha's voice is so beautiful but, like you, I do think its a little too short. I loved singing along to this back in the day.

I’m so glad you reviewed this song. It’s always been a favourite of mine from this album.❤️
PS: two notes on some of your comments
1) about the short duration of the song
on this Waterloo album half the songs are between 3'10"/3'15" minutes
anyway, the best is the shortest (Waterloo 2'47")
at this stage ABBA feels more comfortable in the 3'00"/3'30" minute slot
Only for his fifth album will he incorporate 4'00" minutes as an average standard
2) about battery
Unlike other groups, the drums in ABBA is an accompaniment to the rhythm, they don't stand out anymore because the songs are more based on piano and vocal harmonies.
If you watch some live ABBA performances from the early years you'll see the drummers playing almost monotonously.
Please, it is not my intention to argue, it is just to share and enrich ourselves with mutual contributions.
No worries Eduardo! No arguing here =) Im just analyzing what I hear and how I feel about it. Thanks for the comment brother! 😊😊

I really hope he does this Dimash reaction!
@@tuijakarttunen9164 Hello my friend!!...I hope too!!
I will
I always liked this one - the non-stop choir and is that really a double key change?! You're right though, maybe there's something missing - apart from Agnetha's two brief solo lines (you can hardly call them verses), this song is one long joyous chorus.
Yeah thats how I feel =)
Such an underrated song ❤
Another ABBA song that I haven't heard before, the song feels like a dance band's song. Have a nice week 🤗
Yeah it does have a feel of danceband indeed! Have a nice week too Eva! =) =) =)
Not wrong with this song.A shlager , it sounds great 👍🤗💯
I got the feeling of Phil Spector’s productions from the 60’s. It’s the same “wall of sound” in a way😳 But it’s a good song. Thank you🙏🏻
I hear you! Absolutely 🙏🏻😊
Its a lovely song❤
This is another song that grew on me over time. I love Agnetha’s vocals in this song. It’s smooth like butter.
Really smooth indeed!
When I heard it first I loved it❤❤
One of their finer earlier songs.
And I defenately respect yours 🙏🏻🙏🏻😊😊 Thank you!
Anni-Frid is prettiest and talented singer!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Drums are in there buddy! Just more subliminal to achieve that famous wall of sound. Agree its a great parting anthem for a show. Funny with the Waterloo pronunciation! ;)
Yeah they are 😊 Yeah live would be awesome! Hahah thanks, im struggling 🤣🤣🤣
Hi David
I do really appreciate this early ABBA song it’s a very soothing and refreshing song 🎵 It’s a lovely song to listen to when haveing one of those romantic meals 😉💕 So easy listening
That I can defenately understand 😎😊🙏🏻
Struggling a little with English today I see. It seems to me the word 'Waterloo' sets things off lol
I tend to agree with your take on this, I think the rhythm is a throw back to 60's music - listen to The Ronettes - 'Be My Baby' and you'll see what I mean, that was a song released in 1963
Hahah yeah sometimes it just wont work 🤣🤣 Yeah thats how I felt, very interesting!
Yeah ABBA makes us play our own visuals in our heads, it's quite amazing when u think about it =) Thank you!
It's ok for you to call this "the second album", I think 🙂
I really like the wall of sound technique on this song... maybe that's why it seems like it buries the drums in the mix, and we wouldn't do it like this now. Thanks for another great reaction. Enjoy your week.
Thanks Michael =) I totally agree.
Like me some ABBA-dabba-doo time with GT ! This is one of my fav early songs of theirs....amazing wall of sound
ABBA-dabba-doo time indeed! Thanks for watching Bobby! Cya in the next! =)
Hi David, l absolutely love this song. And l completely understand where you are coming from re. the drums. For me, l it's more of a waltz type song. As for the dejavu ' Ring, Ring ' feel..maybe this song was meant to be on that album and later decided to put it on
' Waterloo?' Just a thought! 😉 Needed to hear this today.
Thankyou gorgeous!
Take care! Ciao!😎🤗
Yeah I agree =) Thank YOU gorgeous! Take care! ciao! ❤😉😊
From memory I think the track was performed live in the Australian concerts but it did not make it into the film. Some sound recording captures were not up to scratch sound wise and were omitted. This may have been one of them.
Yeah, another ABBA reaction! Thought your schedule of them would exceed my life expectancy :)
Heheheh I try to do them in between other videos. I dont wanna wait too long, but not do them too fast either 😅 Hard
I have my fingers crossed that they re-release the Greatest hits volume 1 on vinyl when it hits it's 50th 'birthday'. It's cover is so iconic. 😀
Love this song, typical of ABBA always shortlived just when it gains momentum.
Cool, I did not know that. Thanks for that info! =)
Heard this as a kid finding and... um... loosing...both love and romance... loved it back then as I do now. A guy song for a change :) Yeah, it has the early days ABBA sound GivenToe and that that endears forever *smiles*
😊😊😊😊
This song is on the Waterloo Album and Thank You For The Music Album
Yes given does remind me ring ring album. But love it. Xx
😁😁😁
This was one of Benny & Bjorn’s early favourites. It was included their first Greatest Hits album but was the only song from that LP that wasn’t a single anywhere in the world.
Also Ring Ring was 1973, not 75 - sorry ;)
Hahah yeah the year fail is totally on me lol 😂
Absolutely! 😊😊 haha thanks 🤣😅
Immerse yourself in the world of unearthly voice.
I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world
1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones);
2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice;
3) the incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage;
4) 70 victories in vocal competitions - a child prodigy;
5) can sing in any musical genre,
6) Diana sings in 6 languages: English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic;
7) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song;
8) a range of 4 octaves, which at the age of 19 is far from the limit and will continue to grow;
9) a large army of fans around the world;
10) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you;
11) and now she is also a talented lyricist and composer of her music;
12) more than 13 thousand reactions. some reactions have 3.5 million views.

@@GivenToe You want me to pay you for the reaction. Wouldn't you be fat? Diana is already collecting top views, otherwise how do you think Diana has 14 thousand reactions, you know, I will find a huge number of reactors even without you. And they will not brazenly ask for Patreon, they will get views and many new subscribers.
@@GivenToe Yes, I earn normally, even though I work at a construction site, and I donate money to Diana every month for various projects, and this is normal when, as a man, I help a talented girl, an independent artist grow, but when a healthy man begs for money, what else do you expect other than contempt .
Ypu have literally no idea what you are talking about my friend. This channel takes up ALL my free time. And you think its wrong to support me? Great song, can I suggest one? I really like when all is said and done by abba if you have not heard it yet
If he doesn't know this song he will react to it, when he comes to the "The Visitors" album. At the moment he reacts to the "Waterloo" album and then he does all albums in chronological order so the next will be the "ABBA" album.
Will do that when I get to the Visitors album 🙏🏻😊
@@Lisa-M oh thats pretty cool
Thank you for commenting, and I am glad you enjoyed it =) 😂😂😊
@@GivenToe Yes!! You should listen to it without interruptions some time, I'm sure you'll like it more :)
And always thank you for the content!
@@Smgs-ue7tj he has / does😊
Interesting you said you felt like it was from the "Ring Ring" album (I think another reactor said the same thing) because this was the first song they recorded for the Waterloo album.
I totally understand: to me it sounds like a very long intro to a song that never begun. But a very beautiful intro, that keeps growing right to the very end of the song. But it is a good song and I love it. You`ll get used to it.
Exactly! You said it!
What you are missing in this song you will find in the next one (Watch Out). So be prepared... 😱😈
Oh lord have mercy hahah, good to know! 😂😂😂
It's HONEY HONEY next (and full of honey) and right after this WATCH OUT possibly the wildest/scariest thing they have ever recorded.
@@christianoazzuro6711 I'm sure he's heard "Honey, Honey" before, so I guess "Watch Out" will be next.
@@christianoazzuro6711 Yes, usually it's the next one but he knows Honey Honey and so he won't do a reaction to it.
@@Lisa-M /M6549Marci hi girls!Nice to chat with you two.I hope youre doing fine.Well if i 'm not mistaken he does every single song with a chronololigal order no matter if he has heard the song again or not.But again i might me wrong.Given Toe, do answer that if you plz.
The boys singing will always feel early/RR. I love this one, but who cares. Have fun
It’s a High School Prom song. It’s pretty lightweight and banal. While it has its charm it does lack inventiveness.
Beach Boys influence?
Perhaps 🤔
you missed two key changes by bad pausing choices
Yeah sometimes that happens when you never heard the song before 😅🤷🏼♂️
It's an amazing song - top 3 for me!! But unfortunately the production is terrible. Drums, guitars, bass are sub par. Abba's first 3 years had a mixture of excellent, & terrible production!! Their 1st single "People Need Love" had amazing production!!
