Laughing and crying at the same time, is the ease that only ABBA makes us feel!
Me too🥲
And me too 👍
The voices, the pure joy! Every song is like a “ mini” film!
Abba is the soundtrack to my life!
A track by Swedes about Irish people with Scottish sounding music sung in English! Another happy tune with melancholic lyrics. What's not to like? Abba excel with that combination which ought to be mutually exclusive!
The Gaelic and Irish upbeat are not dissimilar to each other. This song is amazingly well matched to lifting us all. Love it, love it, love it. We need this kind of music and no more acrobatic singers or husky nasal voices which are now like the same. At last joy to the world and ABBA I love you 💕
Do you know that in Russia ABBA's musis people love so much?)) You can know that in a deep early we had a single root...)) We love ABBA in Russia..)) So much..))
”I missed the good times when you danced with me”. One could interpret that text as if it had double meaning, ie. that the band Abba misses its fans, misses the times when the fans used to dance to ”Dancing queen”, etc.
Very true!
I like your interpretation!
@@GivenToe I thought that as well. Being Scots on both sides of my linage made this whole album feel like it was written for me!!
Don’t overthink it.
This one is awsome! Can clearly hear Benny's heritage from playing folk music. Wonderful!
exactly!!
ABBA was the soundtrack of my young life, and their music has sustained me through finding out I was hiv poz at the age of 25 in 1985 and years of living with that stigma. Having them back brings indescribable joy back at a time that the darkness almost won again. I truly wish I could be in England for one of their concerts, your video took me to tears.
Unreal is the perfect word to describe this. I can’t believe this album exists. We’re all feeling the same way. 💖
The thing with Abba songs is.....each one is different, but they have that same distinct Abba sound. There is NO ONE like Abba. Their songs just make me so emotional ❤
Great tune and just a fun vibe. I am Irish living in London. I'm not from Kilkenny but Dublin. However, people in Kilkenny in Ireland are going crazy that there is a fantastic new Abba siong that talks about their city. And the Celtic nuances in the music are so authentic and respectful. Just more of the ABBA genius!!! And I love your reactions.
Thank you!
This was everything I was hoping for. A song that had “the piper” vibes is a dream come true.can’t wait to learn the lyrics. God bless us everyone❤️
Lyrics for all songs on utube..
YES !!!! 💗💗💗
Although the piper is a lot darker being about the rise of certain dictators in the 20th century (and of course tied with the legend of the medieval piper). Love that song.
@@Tom_McMurtry I’m embarrassed to say I never tied the lyrics to the rise of dictators. But it’s very obvious now. ABBA songs have so many levels
@@abbajim they do!
This will be played at all Irish wedding parties. Beautiful storytelling
not only Irish
How beautiful and so fitting
That's a typical Benny Andersson song, one of the style he's done with his live band for the last 30 years or so.
He really loves his folk music! :D
Yea wourse than Hotenany Singers lol
BAO
ABBA unites us with their love against the forces of evil
Last night I finally listened to complete album Voyage. I am not ashamed to say it left me in tears. It is absolutely EPIC. There is such a great philosophy and matureness of vision and feeling behind, like these four have concentrated 40 years of their lives in these several songs... Incredible life experiences shared generously with all of us... Thank you ABBA, you are precious.
I love this song. It has a Soldiers and The Piper vibes with a decent lashing of Irish vibes. It’s awesome.
A sad song with a happy melody. Vintage abba. Nice.
I don't know how they do it but time seems to be nothing for Abba. Voyage puts you in a time machine to join the music they used to do. This album is a masterpiece.
Yep!
When I first heard this song I felt like I was having an out of body experience tbh. It is so melodic, happy and quite powerful at the same time. 40 years between albums didn't have any negative impact on their harmonies - there's still so much magic in them. Don't Shut Me Down is my runaway favorite but When You Danced With Me is a very, very close second ❤🇵🇭
Hands down my favorite track on the album!
I know how your feeling about this song....I'm just overwhelmed with this song and all their songs on this album.💖 there's no words to describe how phenomenal they are....but PURE PERFECTION! 😊
Aren't we sooo blessed to have these new songs. Such joy. Xxx
I thought it was gonna be another ode to Scotland, but we already have Super Trouper, so I am very glad that the Irish get theirs. And what a song indeed!
@GivenToe - my ancestors were Ulster Scots. My heart leapt up into my throat when I first listened to this song. It's stunning. The whole album is stunning.
🔥❤️😁
Reminds me of "The Piper" and "Arrival". 😊
It sounds exactly like the ABBA that were my childhood heroes. Forty years later. Miracles do happen!
ABBA VOYAGE, ALREADY MY FAVE ALBUM. ABBA HASN'T SOLD OUT, TO SOUND LIKE OTHER ACTS AROUND. THE ABBA SOUND IS ON FULL FORCE, THANK YOU ABBA FOR THE OLD AND NEW MUSIC🥰🥰🥰🥰
I loved this track from the moment the girls voices kicked in and when you have an immediate connection with a track, you know it's hit the mark, great to see your reaction bro!
Agnetha and Frida, can rearenge the Universe with that 3rd voice.....just by themselfs!
😊
PURE MAGIC!
This one could have been a hit in the UK and Europe around mid-'80s, when bands like Big Country or artists like Enya were having hits with their fusion of Irish-Scottish-pop-rock.
Enya! Gaelic "Silent Night".
Its been an emotional day today. First so happy to listen to this track. By my 3rd listen, the tears began to flow...it spilled to 3 other tracks. All in, i have never cried to any of their previous releases.. starting with the dont shut me down and i still have faith in you, i have now cried to 6 tracks on this album. Well done ABBA. I love you forever...
It is important to know that Benny has been very active in the field of traditional music.
Love this song GT ! ....my fav on VOYAGE ! ....getting emotional all over again. Singing and dancing here in Arkansas, USA
🙏🏻❤️😁
Those 2 glorious voices 🙏🏻
not bad for women 71 and 75 :) - voices of joy
You're awesome, man! This was great. The song simply kicks ass. I agree about blasting it in the car, with the bass turned up, over and over.
A really catchy great song. The instrumentation is fantastic. Loved it.
It makes me cry too. It's a very good and happy song. ABBA is still the best !
To me, this is a great example of why I am fixated on ABBA. Their repertoire is so diverse. They perform disco, rock, folk and other genres. That’s what makes them so interesting to hear. Agnetha and Frida are the ideal performers of the songs written by Benny and Bjorn.
You’re reaction is priceless love this love the genius of abba 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💗💗💗
Thanks a lot Nat :D
Hey Giventoe! You are having the same emotional reaction as I did listening to this for the first time. The Irish folk influences are very interesting, I've not heard that from ABBA before. It has a similar production sound to the Visitors album yet nods to their skiffle origins and it could almost be a follow up to 'Dance While The Music Still Goes On'. Love it, love it, love it!
Also takes me back to the title track from Arrival!
@@imbutterworth I wamted to use that song to walk down the aisle. Haven't done that yet. First one he had 2 other wives he forgot to tell me about.
Didn't take.
Yes, this one is special!!
I’ve listened to them all now, and I love them all! I’m always struck by their willingness to be vulnerable in their storytelling.
Your reaction is fantastic 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
🙏🏻😁
Yes, we missed the good old times, when we danced with you, ABBA.
I've just listen to the album for the first time. I totally understand what you mean when you say you were afraid it wouldn't be good, I felt the same. But I really liked it and I know from back in the days that Abba-songs tends to grow on you.
This also brought back the wonderful feeling of listening to a whole album for the first time, not having heard more than maybe two or three of the songs before. It was always such a joy to do that and there were always a few songs you didn't like quit as much at first, but for me those often were the songs I liked the most in the long run. I'm glad we have the chance to listen to so much music on Internet today. But when you had to pay for a whole album, you just listened to all the songs over and over again and found gems you'd never learned to appreciate otherwise. I kind of miss those days ...
Looking forward to your next video on Abba!
The funniest thing ever is that people call this song “very Irish” while it couldn’t be any more Swedish if it tried haha it’s very “folksy” and has Swedish tradition and Benny’s famous love for it written all over every bar. Looooooooove this song! Nostalgic, a bit sad (lyrically, as usual) and with this light smile and fresh air in the arrangement which is ABBA’s signature. One of the album’s highlights, for sure.
Well, considering they say “Kilkenny” and the instruments I’d say it’s supposed to be very Irish 😂
It's the Kilkenny mention.
You are right 🤣
Oh yeah very funny, even though it has a Kilkenny mention. 🤨
@@paulojrneto of course, I get that but musically it's just as Swedish as it is Irish - those Viking roots are shared :) obviously, the location makes it kind of Irish but musically it's profoundly nordic folk rooted.
Who ever could imagine that abba would do an Irish song...they mention kilkenny which is up the road from me...I love it🇮🇪 Ireland ..
Amazing 🔥
I like this track, sounds like an irish folk song
My favorite song on the new album and it’s been on constant repeat all day.
Although the song is somewhat short, I think it's the best song on the album. The album as a whole, the overall imagery that I get from the album, reminds me of someone looking back at the years of their life. You know, the members of Abba are older now, and their perceptions have changed. They aren't the same people they once were. Hopefully, this won't be their last album.
Wow ... I just cried ... The vocal made me so emotional for some reasons ...
ABBA is the Soundtrack of our lives 👍
You hear the Swedish folk music nerve here, it is ultra Benny Andersson! The Scottish feel just makes this song to perfection.
'When You Danced With Me' is one of my favourite ABBA songs and it should have definitely have been a single its a truly fantastic song.
Its SO amazing! 😍✨
Such a joyous song. Reminds me arrival also
Love your reaction as I love this song ABBA going back to folklore it's beautiful.
Looking forward to your reaction at "Keep an Eye on Dan"...I got very emotional listening to this song and I don't usually do that. Also "I can be that woman"
"I can be that woman" is an absolute masterpiece.
Love your reaction as usual! This album is just great and I'm so happy we get to experience this. In particular, I just love 'I can be that woman'. Such amazing song.
I’m literally crying as you go along! I’m soooo emotional ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for reviewing namely this song, because it is my favourite one, I guess.
For me it's not just a simple song, it's pure happiness.
Thank YOU for watching 🙏🏻❤️
@@GivenToe thank you for your reviews. Looking forward to the other ones! :)
Im on it 😉
Same reaction I can hear this at the Irish Pubs everywhere around the world.
Totally agree with u bro, its an amazing and uplifting song and puts a smile on ur face right from the first beat till the end. A real gem........loved it.
Love the song.
Abba never fail to deliver love it!
What is it what makes a lot of us so emotional?? My god i'm so happy with this album. The piper 2.0
This song had tears streaming down my face.
Love this song! The bagpipes are there! Just like the violins and accordions are there in "Arrival!" It's Benny's version on the keys, of the instruments. It's another ABBA masterpiece.
These were my sentiments exactly when I heard this at 6am Friday morning!!!
My thought on the first couple of tones: RUNRIG, after a whille 'The Piper' came up, all in all, modern celtic folk.
This is always also a prevalent theme of Scandinavian music, too.
I think it has a lot to do with nations of seafarers and rural societies.
I absolutely love those down to earth, yet powerful and sensitive songs.
Well, considering the Vikings invaded Ireland several times (granted 1000 years ago) I'm sure there was some cross-pollination of musical traditions. :)
So beautiful seeing a long term fan reacting to this album. I'm loving it :)
When you listen to ABBA's music, you are moved, happy, emotional and melancholy in your soul. Now
that I see how many people around the world are taking the music to their to
grips and being influenced by it, I am convinced that we can all unite around
the world. We're not so different, we're the same as people. We can stop
fighting, destroy, argue and be greedy, but instead help each other so that man
can be happy again. I thank ABBA for the music and am a proud Swede myself.
Positive thoughts from Sweden!
I never imagined there were more people out there like me who get emotional listening to these new ABBA tunes.
I was a rocker back in the 60s/70s. I never listened to ABBA. I love them now. Thanks ABBA for taking me back to a sweet place in life.
Finally!!! I have found the person with the same emotions like mine when I'm listening WHEN YOU DANCE WITH ME. Thank you very much!!! I love your reaction!
😁😁😁😁😁 Thank YOU!
I can hear the songs only when i am alone, because i crying. I Never cried a lot. Now i am 67 and it starts…..,,
Another fantastic song. I am blown away. Wow.
As so many have said and will say for many years to come, ABBA stands alone in its music realm, and how fortunate we are to still be around to hear more of its peerless music.
I want to thank you, GivenToe, for putting yourself and your raw feelings out there for all of us. Whether one wants to listen to the album alone or with others is a personal decision. Somehow, you bridge that gap, such that I can listen to the songs alone yet feel bonded with a kindred spirit. Bravo, GivenToe, and, of course, ABBA.
Thank you so much ❤️
It sounds like a traditional Scottish folk song, even that synth is arranged the way bagpipes would be. :-) I am very happy.
But on closer inspection... Kilkenny is in Ireland.
Your reactions to the new ABBA songs are just amazing. I'm a big ABBA fan and have been since they started in 72. You hear elements and put the right words to describe your feelings to each song, which is fantastic. My favourite song from the new album Voyage is Don't shut me down, which is for me among their best 40 hits. A real ABBA classic. Again it's a pleasure to listen to you.
Thanks a lot Rune! :D
Having new songs and WHAT also a NEW ALBUM from ABBA is such a beam of positive, beautiful light in this world of dark ugliness it’s so wonderful and hard to believe
🧡ABBA !
Scottish dance? Why the hell not. It's ABBA, paying tribute in their own unique way to another culture.
I've heard four tracks now, Bumblebee being the other. I am so happy they're back. Already I can't wait for the next album.
Thank you, Given, for another great ABBA reaction. Waiting patiently for your next reaction.
Believe in Yourself. Be You.
Thank you so much David!
@@GivenToe And you, sir, are most welcome. I was happy to come along for the fun.
I cannot get over the fact that these two ladies sound so darn good still to this day.. Go ABBA!!!
Your going to cry when you hear, Ode To Freedom. ♥
It reminds me so much of The Piper and Arrival sound wise.
And I, as you said, keep crying as though a friend has come to visit me after so many years.
Amazing!
What an utterly joyous song but with a bittersweet undercurrent...Quintessential Abba.Love it and love your emotional reaction...You certainly put your fancy new chair through its paces!!!! 😂
Hahah yeah it needs to be quality tested XD
Great to see your reaction on the new album, looking forward to see them all. Thanks mate :D
IT is so much better....i ever could hope...
Very catchy folk song and your reaction is spot on as usual. I can tell you that you're in for a treat listening to this album! 🎊🎉
Thanks AM! :D
Your love for ABBA and your sentimentality make me love you, a perfect stranger. Cheers from the USA. Your channel is great. Just subscribed.
Thank you Kiki ❤️😭 That means a lot to me!
Love Frida's voice. ❤❤
This is really appealing. I’m Swedish, Norwegian and Irish. They’re clever lyrics ! They’re good at turning Nordic folk tunes into pop songs that’s their technique.
I am so pleased that I watched your video as it has made me feel so much better. This album also made me cry even though I was so happy that ABBA had produced some new work, I just found so many of the lyrics tugging on my heart strings. Thanks
Benny loves the folk music. And this is a testament of it.
I LOVE AND I LOVE AND I LOVE IT... THATS IT ABBA LOVE Y F 1970 TO 2022 AND SO ON....
This is great! I was in there in the first 2 seconds. It has a kind vibe of " The Piper", but in a contemporary way! I love it! the entire album is wonderful! I had tears in my eyes in all songs! Thanks ABBA! and Thanks Giventoe for sharing these moments with everybody! Cheers! Norber from Argentina.
J adore ce titre , merci abba
wonderfull music like celtic , scotland , irish , french bretagne , wale ;
Hi GivenToe, I'm from Kilkenny Ireland!!!! It's not Scotland, we think Benny keeps horses here xx
Sorry I was wrong there 🤦🏼♂️😅 Welcome!
One of my faves from the album 🙌 Its so essentially ABBA fun and reminiscing storytelling 🙌 I have said I love the Celtic roots many times and I do but for me it’s the vocals Frida and Agnetha still show so much power in there voices this could have been recorded 35 yrs ago it’s catchy and has a profoundly beautiful sound
Thanks GT 🙌 Still love your emotions u show
🙏🏻🙏🏻😊
I can't stop crying. My god.
