He came to Rock..... And Rocked like no other With a heart twice the size of Texas our beloved brother, companion, mentor idol and friend.... We love you Dime.... Until we meet again
Metallica were doing it before in the 80s. Cliff Em All or some of the home videos they did during the Justice tour for example. Pantera took it to Jackass type level though.
people say dimes overrated just because he didn't play 20 minute solos, sweep or whatever....that's bullshit...dimebag did what all guitar players should do, just go for it and see what comes out. Not sit there and make sure each note of the scale is perfect..dimebag didn't play guitar, he lived it...and if you cant at least respect that, then I guess theres no arguing with the ignorant. Dimes by far my favorite guitar player ever. R.I.P. Dime
Actually he did pretty goid sweep and schredding . But people need to stop overlook Power metal and stuff . Kick ass records Dimebag was much more demonstrative in 80s than 90s ..
I remember seeing Pantera at Ozzfest 2000 in Baytown Texas. Dime prolly did 2 or three 10-20 minute solos not to mention his usual slamming grooves and solos in the actual songs. There was sweeps, alternate picking, four finger tapping, whammy bar dives and everything else u hear in the new era. Difference was, he did it with only 6 strings lol. Wish he was here today to jam...
He does have his finger on the pulse of humanity dont he bro?!?! He says here, what we all have in our heads, but he puts it into words so well.God i do miss that dude!!
People who argue that dime was "just a guitar shredder" have no idea what they're talking about, and no idea about how much they're missing. Dime was a superb musician who managed to combine the cerebral and visceral aspects of metal into a cohesive whole that was all his own. His style is the equivalent of a language in itself.
dime was the opposite of a woodly-doot shredder. he played not *feel*, but with **soul**, connectivity, and logic, regardless of his unorthodox self-taught approach to the guitar.
Damn I miss this man. I miss the days Pantera were together as band on this shitty planet called earth... Feeling is gone out of everything. Even people aren't real anymore, especially where I'm from.
Billo1281 nicely said bro. Metal isn't dead in my life but it's went to shit for rest of world. How do we as fans keep metal alive for all? Dimes murder fukt everything up. Metal died Dec 8 2004. My horns are still in the air. Now Vinny is gone. Will second Damageplan LP hit stores now? Vinny said arnd 20th anniversary of Dime it wld prob happen. He's gone now. His vault is full of Dimes genius. We fans need this sec album now. Nu-metal sux so we need this. Metalhead for life
Chris Bocook Yeah I still listen to metal but it's mostly all older stuff. And yeah, right when the shocking news of Vince being dead hit me, I realized what we may now miss out on, Dimes music!!! I hope somebody down the line of the family releases the rest of his beautiful music. RIP to both Abbott bros, Much respect, take care dude.
@@chrisbocook2910 As far as the 2nd Damageplan album....... Rita has said she wanted Phil & Rex to perform on those songs when Vince was alive. So, we will see.....
Dime had so much talent, that's why he didn't try to act badass or too cool. It's not easy to dedicate your life to a traveling circus, which is what being in a touring band feels like. It's a lot easier to have a regular job and the comforts of a family around.
why do i feel like Everyones Life would be Much more Better if Dime an vin was still here and alive today :\ R.I.P. You are both Reunited jamming together with the greats
A great musician doesn't need to be exactly precise all the time. You can clearly hear Michael Schenker fuck up a couple of times on UFO's double live record, "Strangers in the Night", but that's the reason people love it the most. It's honest. It's genuine. They weren't able to artificially patch it up later. They left that human element in the final recording. Pantera had the same mentality in the studio.
doctor345678 You sir know your music, GREAT guitarist, great band. UFO should've been bigger. but then again, its like having a rare gem all to yourself.
Most amazing and crushing guitarist in history. He lived and played almost as if he knew his destiny was to die at 38. I saw him 14 times in a 10 year period and im blessed for that. He was one for the ages.
Dime was so far ahead with pretty much everything, he was so unique. From the guys that influenced him to the things he did himself, truly, that boy was one in a billion. Still miss that squeal almost 17 years later! He would've made one hell of a podcast for sure. Not to mention hearing him on some UA-cam shred collabs blowing everyone away with SIX strings (lol). RIP Dime. Getcha pull 🤘
Despite being filmed almost 30 years ago, Dime’s message can be perfectly applied to the music we hear today. He was so ahead of his time it’s crazy, always on top of everything, always at the front of the game. His passion and curiosity in music is just infinite. One of most innovative and influential people ever.
i love that this has no dislikes because dime is the legend that will never leave our minds. He will truly stand the test of time. for me this man is second to only Richie Blackmore.
Dime taught us to live life to the fullest They were the hardest working people. The soul , energy ,heart and all out balls to the wall, metal that you feel down to the core, this is what Dimebag Darrel Abbott and PANTERA was always about. The more energy the audience gave back to the band, the more they were there to kick ass n take names and we all know how PANTERA completely changed to game. I used to love how Phil would just be up there saying random shit at time. The personality of these guys. I've never seen a band to audience connection, like Pantera. They truly turned it up to 11! Dimebag is a guitar legend and I thank you all for the music that still, I listen to all the time. ✌💝& RESPECT 👊
Yeah I'm not a particularly big fan of Pantera nor Damage Plan (metal's not my thing) but I once saw this vid here of Dimebag playing the guitar an I was blown away.
i wish there was am option to love this vid!! when he talks about leaving imperfections in your music ... hes so right man! too many "artist" these days are trying to overcorrect things where if they would leave the blemishes they would be better off
Dimebag gets it! You develop a song over time and the emotions, what the songs about, drives creativity. His out of tune stuff sounded so much better and elegant than most musician's in tune work. There's a lot of great guitars I could file off names on but I won't. I never got into Pantera until this whole B.S. Vaccine the world lockdown happened. And OMG, what a gem this group Pantera is. And this man had a gift like no other. Their song called The Sleep, I've never hear anything like it. The chords almost seem inverted and he changed the chord shape every so slightly but it gave the song life, and the solo, it just blew me away. I've listened to many talk about Dime on UA-cam and the one thing I hear over and over is "when he's playing the guitar its like its singing to you". And that's just the way it feels to me. His solos are so good they make you wanna cry. I wish God could bring him and his brother back but unfortunately it doesn't work that way.
Having had been through the writing process with “college trained” drummers, the whole timing comment rings a bell. Being told to not be able to change tempos or timing because “it does make sense” was frustrating. Music should be approached like a coloring book. It’s okay to color outside of the lines. Just my opinion.
So amazing how dime and vinnie were such unbelievable musicians and 2 of the most awesome people you would ever want to meet. At least they r back together now but damn they r most definitely missed, gone way to early RIP
Dime was commenting on the current industry of music production, not predicting the future. He mentions Pro Tools, a computer software that was first released in the early 90s. He was simply comparing older production methods to the status quo of computer editing technology.
Dime got it! Some of my favorite parts of ZZ Top's Tres Hombres were the imperfections that were left in. Or the backing vocals of The Rolling Stone's it's just a shout away.... her voice cracking.... chefs kiss... moments where it just All Hung Out..... miss you Dime
Dime really did predict the future with this one, he may not have been the first to say it but he was on the money with that sample and loop with computers thing
Dime was 1000000% right! I’m starting to jam with a buddy and he wrote like 6 song’s and I came in the picture and I learned his songs and i had a few parts messed up but I thought they sounded freaken awesome to me the way i did it but he was totally against it because it wasn’t the way he did it, it frustrates me because what Dime was saying in that video was basically what I try to tell my buddy be he won’t have any of it, so thank you for the video, ima play this to my buddy and maybe he will understand after watching it,
Man the first time I heard this,I was stoked as fuck! To know that Dime felt the same about music as I do was crazy personal. To know that while we were sitting at home jammin so hard to his vision of sound, and to know the reason he played in the first place is because that same sound was drivin him crazy too! Ah man...they don't make em like Dime anymore...

Started that too.....ahead of his time
He had the Damaged Webcast lol I wish he was here to do a podcast!
God imagine Dime, Phil, Vince and Rex all in Joe Rogans podcast, or better yet running their own Podcast recalling memories from back in the 90s.
Dime was ahead of his time. Here he is vlogging and talking shit about computer & electronic music
Why do I feel like I've seen this comment or v
