Us guitarists are still learning and playing your riffs today in 2023, Dime. You're a legend. RIP
RIP
That fast riff he does in the middle of "this love" is so incredible
They are huge outside the us too.
@@toke7342lol. I think he meant, “us” as in, “we.”
Dime always let Phil shine . Dime was respectful towards his bandmates.
just lookit our boy. hands behind his back, respect respect respect. good mannered gentleman hard rockin mother fucker man lollll
Dime and vinnie has this attitude of not grabbing too much attention to themselves. usually when they say something its most often always about giving credit to their inspirations the people who supported them and the production crew that makes things happen.
Which made him the best
@@jansandman6983as it should be…its called a band. A band of brothers. Brothers fight but they work it out. The point is to fight little to none with each other. To each their own and their differences, you must work together, be loving and accepting of each other to shine bright.
And always very humble
Yes, he was originally and will always be a "Diamond" to me. RIP
Same here
Same here brothers
King dimebag
1966-2004
Your music still plays in 2021 king.
King Dimebag! Huh, it kinda has a nice ring to it, ALL HAIL THE KING!
2022 and still blasting F.B.D as we speak
… & in 2022 🎸
As well as 2023!🤘
2024 🤘🏻
Darrell was a very handsome young man. Completely tragic what happened to him. He totally loved Metal and seemed a really sweet dude.
THE MAN
He was a gem of a human being.
Dude is becoming one of my favorite human beings ever. Sad that i wasn’t old enough to see them in their prime. I was 8 when he passed and my dad was more of an AC/DC guy. Glad to be finding them now!
and he was very down to earth as he was always hanging around with cover bands playing in the clubs and giving them support even though he was already on a rockstar status.
Gay
Id give anything to have Pantera back on stage together alive and sober..getting along being friends ....fucking miss this guys!
Its tragic but they left us with some great music
I don't think any of them were sober for any of Pantera's existence
All of us do
@@paulweaver7073 youre def right
Absolutely miss these guys
I got to meet Dime and Vinnie and I have watched countless hours of Interviews and clips and I never saw Dime without a smile on his face, he didn't seem to let a minute go by that he wasn't thankful and grateful that he got to play music for a living and living the dream.
One of those guys like Eddie Van Halen that the guitar was a extension of his body , so natural.
So glad I got the chance to shake his hand and play him my shitty bands demo , I had my Discman with me at the meet and greet and he was more than happy to check it out, he even said " cool guitar sound "
The world truly lost a original the day he died .
A Pantera and Alice in Chains coheadlining tour?! My goodness i dont think any stadium/venue could handle that awesome POWER!!!!!!! My 2 favorite bands of ALL-TIME
Your a good man , my favorite bands too !!!!!
what's crazy is they played tiny places like the AlRosa Villa (where Dime was killed) on that tour- they even partied at the hotel right down the street from where the AlRosa was
@BWB Hoops hell yeah brother!!! Add in Down, BLS and Type o Negative to that as well!! The almighty blessed us with excellent rock and metal music!
That's my 90s in one gig !
Plus Megadeth Jesus christ
Diamond Darrell, my favorite guitarist
Youd know its not diamond...its DIMEBAG then...just saying
@@aarondavis4341 He said it because the interviewer called him Diamond, you'd know if you had payed attention to the video. Just saying...
@@aarondavis4341 if you weren't trying to be cool or a sarcastic nutsack, you'd know it was Diamond Darrell before Dimebag, just saying.
@@aarondavis4341well actually he was “diamond darrell” until far beyond driven. Then went to dimebag darrell. if you were a real fan you would have known that though!
I cannot convey how inspiring, and emotional I become seeing Dimebag.
What a legend.
What a dude.
what a dude....
The days when Phil could finish a sentence and dimebag was alive.
Too true , aging process
Phill can finish a sentence again now:)
@Florida, Hawaii & Australia fan What drugs did he take?
Not drunkenly throwing up nazi salutes… goddamn…i miss the old phil
Back when he could actually finish a set... Fucking sad
Vulgar is my favorite Pantera album. They sounded like they were at their best, and just the overall sound of that album is so good.
First Pantera cd I ever got , purchased second hand from East coast music. Thank you whoever didn't like the CD because I f*****g loved it and still do 🤘
mine fav too
fantastic album. Was listening to in my car a few days ago and the production is so crisp and heavy
Big improvement from Cowboys from a sonic standpoint.
One of my favorite albums. Period.
Damnn, I miss my 80's and 90's Metal Heads! What a time it was!!! 🤟
Phil.... so crisp before the years of drugs and booze ground him up
And he still rocks hard
Crisp as he's ever been recently. Check it out
Even though the closet Nazi saga🤘

@@gabagool20 🤣🤣 your roots will always show through
Saw Pantera 1994, 1996, 1997. Great concerts. 🤘🎸
Dime was one of the greatest humans to ever walk the earth.
I remember buying VDOP and throwing it on and being blown away by its heaviness.Still a class act by a class band.
Me too. Blown the F*** away. I think I was even more blown away by FBD. That album was like a nuclear bomb going off, continuously.
VDOP was absolutely crushing! And FBD was a great sequel. But my favorite Pantera album is GSTK.
@@steves6756 yeah GSTK doesn't get near the respect it deserves. It's definitely a great album. I saw them on tour in Dallas at Ozzfest 2000. When they came out, I'm Broken was their opening song,,,and I have never seen a crowd go F****** beserk like that in all the concerts iv been to. Phil could have told the crowd to anything and I swear, they would have done it. Lol... security was lucky...he went easy on them that night.
@@clownchaostime3024 I saw them at Ozzfest in 1997 Pittsburgh, PA. Although i love, love, LOVE Pantera. Fear Factory was the band to see there. They were amazing. The played the entire Demanufacture album in order. I also saw Pantera with White Zombie 1996. Unfortunately White Zombie sucked, cuz I liked them too. Great stage set. Lousy performance by Rob. But Pantera on the other hand. They tore it up!
Dude. Same. It still listen to it. Not as much as I did back then, but when it makes its way back into the rotation it STILL blows me away.
I saw Pantera open for Megadeth on this tour. It's still the only show that I've ever seen where the crowd was chanting the support bands name after the main band finished their headline set. Megadeth played their last note and all you could hear was PANTERA, PANTERA !!!!!
Same here..
Metallica did the same thing to ozzy.
PanterA were the kings of Metal in the 90s
Best metal band ever. The blend of aggression and attitude is unmatched. Pair that with Dime's killer tone and occasional Texan twang. His Domination solo before the slow breakdown commands to be cranked full blast! 👊🤘🍻
Great call I'd taught that solo too many a student
Bold statement for a fake metal band.
After four glam/power albums, one with the nazi junky. They suddenly decided to act very tough and macho. Total radio silence on the past. Fakers
@Rogério Corrêa de Souza Of course I know Maiden lol, if you trying to compare Queensryche to these other metal bands, I want what you're smoking. Not that I don't like them, but talk about a apples to oranges comparison.
@Rogério Corrêa de Souza shitallica kkkk fumou oq mano
agreed. best metal band ever, fr
Dime was so humble and definitely a kind soul. I always hated that i didn’t get into Metal till 2006 so never got the opportunity to see him. Rock in peace brother 🤘🏽
Alice in Chains opening for Pantera... what i would give. RIP Dime Vinnie Layne and Mike
Cant help but tear up. Seen PANTERA 7 times. Dime and Vinnie ALWAYS created such energy. They were unreal. Never be another band like them.
7 times? WOW,I only wanted to see them once. I got into pantera in 92.
@@DEPORTER_SUPPORTER Saw them the first time at Club 1000 in Nashville, just before they released Vulgar.200 people were there. OMG it was magical.
These guys kept metal going in the 90s. I love their first three albums from that period and I will be listening to them later today!
🤘😎🤘
Excellent New year"s choice. I Will be doing the same
@@fernandoreynaaguilar1438 Lol cool I've also been listening to them breaking in the new year back at work. Nothing like getting thru the day with Phil and the boys. "Immortally insane" What a tune Thats my SANC-TU-ARY!🤘
The first concert I attended. Megadeth, Pantera, White Zombie, and Atari Teenage Riot.
There was a time when my entire wardrobe consisted of Pantera shirts.
I was the same with but with Slayer shirts instead of Pantera. Though I was a bigger Pantera fan, Slayer always had great tee's
Me too.. I still have some shirts.. The ´90 was all about rock. I´m 45 and feel like Homer trying to rock forever XD.
@@Sweeptheleg83 slayer does have the most metal shirts.
You must of been a real dork
Is there anywhere to buy old band shirts, but made new? There's a Pantera shirt I never got around to getting back in the day, with a dude ripping a cow skull apart (I think).
I walked in on Dimebag once @ the Anaheim NAMM Show, he was sitting in a booth all by himself, just jamming away
on his guitar, in his own World. I just said Hi, but did not bother him, he seemed like a mellow quiet type of guy...
Wow, look at those young skinny versions of Dime and Phil
They are so young and talented, their music was amazing. Still listening today
I had just started grade two in early September, 1992. Seeing videos like this makes me nostalgic for better times.
These guys killed it in the 90s and not only kept Metal alive but took it to a New Level. What a great time for music in the early 90s. RIP Dime and Vinnie 🤟
Phil predicted the future and was spot on. Far Beyond Driven was heavier and debuted at #1 on Billboard.
FBD is a mffffffffffff'er. But TGSTK, the song? That shit would kill Jesus.
They came to Dayton, Ohio in 1993 on this tour, white zombie, pantera, megadeth, one hell of a night
Hell yeah! I saw it in Clarkston MI 7/93 and the sod went flying that night. One of the best shows I've ever been to🤟🏼
Yep. I saw the same tour in St. Louis. It was amazing.
Man, 24 years old.
Can you imagine a 24-year-old today having that kind of presence and charisma? These guys were just fuckin’ magic. Real rock stars.
I was only 5 when Vulgar came out. Would love to have lived it, fully aware that that would put me at least in my late 40s now.
Man it was a great time. Sorry you were so young at the time but now id trade you for the experience i witnessed for your youth.
\m/
Your math don't add up
I was 16 when it came out, I'm 44
And now we have Tiktok stars who do nothing but eat or make stupid faces and have millions of followers..!
Dime had the most beautiful glorious hair
I miss Dime so much, RIP brother !!!
The thing about Dime and Pantera was not only his playing ability but his creativity. He had both in massive abundance and that's why to me, Dime was the greatest metal guitarist of all time.
RIP DIMEBAG 🤘
rip diamond 💎😥
Oh men those were the best days to grew up with amazing metal music and so many bands . I miss the old MTV and Headbanger ball with Vanessa.. it’s all gone far away behind sadly, only memories left 🤟
Yea I was born in 93 but was a metal head from a very young age and your completely right! Sad those days are behind us and now look at MTV 90% Ridiculousness and well whatever the under 10% is!!!
Many might disagree and they may not be wrong because it is what they feel, but Vulgar Display of Power was to "Me" the tightest, damn near perfection of a metal album. Been listening to this album for YEARS and it still gives me goose bumbs.
I disagree and I'm not wrong
I remember when they where calling him Diamond Darrell in the Metal Maniac Magazines.
The band responsible for getting me and many others into heavy music. The riffs, the lyrics, the tight musicianship, the attitude of VDoP blew me away when my man Rocky played this for me, back in 199?. Thanks Pantera and RIP Dime and Vin
RIP Dime. Literally lived to party his arse off, brilliant at his trade.
Phil, talking about the song "Walk"...
I love his explanation of the song. We shouldn't be hypocrites. We should be truthful and honest and genuine.
Sadly, many people unfortunately fit into the hypocrite status in this life. It's really tragic!
ask me how I know you didn't go to college.
Red Flipper, shut up. Just shut up man!
Pantera was so Badass you can't even explain it .I seen them 6 times and you don't know how Amazing the shows are until you see them they loved there fans and we love them still . Ripdime Ripvinne!
Wow, it's actually surreal to see this. Phil is lucid, excited, they both look so young. I'm 50 now and remember those times so well. Pantera was life. Before drugs turned Phil into...something else...before the hatred and bitterness.... and then that one waste of flesh POS took Dime and robbed everyone of what definitely could have been a reunion at some point. But we'll always have the music.
well said
In the end i think phil fought his demons well and understood many things about the past that made him a diffferent person once more huh???
Make no mistake about it. That "fan" was sent by Phil.
Mental disorders lead to drug use and violence
@@Sammy_X7 Bull shit. Phil wanted to work on other projects and the brothers didn’t. They got in a fight. They would have came back together. Phil had nothing to do with that psycho POS
Dime…….wish you were here man. Sometimes when I see a video of yours shredding it makes me tear up. You are truly in a league of your own. We miss you brother and we will see you when we get there. RIP 🙏🏼
I love Phil, but, good lord, let Dimebag get a word in edgewise once in a while. I wanted to hear Dime talk about their work too.
Yep. Should be titled Phil talks about.......Shows what a cool Mf'er Dime was. Most people would have just walked away after being basically ignored by the interviewer.
Because like all singers, he has LSD ( Lead Singers Disease )
@@1965kid He has LSD in probably more than one way
Watching this interview now is unbelievable to think how things are brutally changed damn..I always loved Phil's attitude but goddamn leave talk a bit more Dime too bro!
Phil has always been the verbal guy. You wouldn't have asked Dime: "Hey dude, let Phil play some guitar solo too!"
@ᇫ the overall context is called here stage fever. Dime didn't had his tool to perform, Phil has always his mouth(for war) on his head. Have you seen footages of Dime walking in the crowd with his Razorback? Not so much texting... Interview or concert doesn't matter, the point is to perform. ✌🏻Peace
Phil was the voice. Dime wanted him to talk. It’s their dynamic.
@@bapro1715 spot on
@ᇫ neither do you then try hard
Phil came up with the name of the album from the movie the Exorcist. Pretty cool
I saw both PANTERA and MEGADETH on this tour. I've seen hundreds of bands since, the show I saw has never been surpassed. PANTERA were unstoppable and crushing, MEGADETH were sleek and sharp. Awesome just awesome 👌
0:17 actually he used to called himself Diamond in the early 80s
Reporter " how can it be heavier my God " Dime " it will be I promise " 😆 🤣 😂. Still the greatest
Shh no problem 😌
And it was...
It definitely was. FBD is my favourite album
It was, and then the next one was EVEN HEAVIER. Forever the best metal band.
And it WAS heavier. They only got heavier as they went.
Ah, the good old days. Amazing time period. Good to see them in their prime.
Great to see this. Wish Dimebag had an opportunity to answer a question or two.
I’d give everything to go back to those days…🖤🔥🤘
\m/
Agreed, stanzavik. Even his speaking voice was an octave higher back then.
Its amazing to see the king of riffs talking here 😢🔥🎸
Saw Phil and the Illegals perform back in November of 2021. Man, Phil was so young back then. Too all you kids out there. Enjoy your youth while you can cuz you won't be young forever.
Dime was so cute here... but really--dude was so charismatic, almost classical-looking, and his voice added to the charisma.
The world needs people inspired by these legends and putting in the work to be able to create bands similar
There's literally been heeps of bands influenced and inspired by PanterA. One of the most influentual Heavy Metal bands of all time! Check out DefineD for a start, band from Canada.

"What do you mean, produced?" Seemed like he was offended lol. Most bands once hitting on success start catering to their crowd and become more mainstream ($$$$). Not these guys. Every album was heavier than the last and they made no apologies for anything. So happy I got to grow up in their time.
She's not wrong though 😂
What a great interview from the best of the best Pantera \m/ RIP DIme and VIn!!!
The amount of great albums that Pantera created is amazing. Monster record after monster record and then they dominated at their live shows. They could do no wrong for almost 20 years.
Man I fn love those cats. Dime was so humble and seemed to know his place in the interview and let Phil talk. Even after a 6 pack. RIP Diamond
So glad I got the honor of seeing dime live before he passed
Rip Dimebag and Vinnie Paul Abbott miss you both so much
@Phil anselmo fine how are you?
@Phil anselmo yes I am.
@Phil anselmo I love Pantera, and i don't have a problem with you.
@Phil anselmo never got the chance, I wish I had though.
@Phil anselmo you're not the real Phil Anselmo' Pantera broke up before Dimebag was killed. So there's no Pantera anymore, and there hasn't been for awhile, and never will be again!!!!!
“How can it be heavier?” And it was😂😂😂
Dime - " No problem" 7:16
Every album they made was heavier than the last all the way till the end
@@aarondavis4341 except maybe reinventing steel. Nothing tops great southern trendkill
@Sam Hard agree. In terms of heaviness, nothing topped trendkill but heavy or not, all 4 post spandex Pantera albums before reinventing the steel were better.
8:50. Wow how cool would a co-headline with AIC have been? Bummer it never happened.
one of the greatest to ever do it. i still get goosebumps listening to Dime just shred, and his solos had some much emotion and soul to em.
Watching a band like Pantera in a hall venue or smaller must've been on another level of live gig.
I saw them 9 days after this gig at Newport. Then again a few months later, again in Newport
How beautiful Dimebag's hair is.
I'd give anything to have this era back, magical time compared to the cesspool of music today. Vulgar is a metal monster and Mouth for War is one of my favorite Pantera songs and I was fortunate enough to see them 3 times including the last tour. 🤘🎸🎤🥁🎛️ RIP DIME AND VINNIE. GETCHA PULL!!!
Dime was a very handsome man
You see what a cool, amazing guy Dimebag was here.....man.....how anyone could hurt him....still hard to believe. RIP, brother.
Only a true nut case could do harm to someone as legendary as Dime Bag Darrel!!! Which unfortunately ended up being the case.
People also forget or overlook the fact that Dime was a huge Kiss fan. As a kid, just like me, he too was in the Kiss Army....ROCK ON!!
What was the WTF for when she called him Diamond? He really didn't start going by Dimebag until this tour by a few and it didn't really gain momentum until Far Beyond Driven.
He should have kept Diamond Darrell.

LORDS UNMATCHED!
Dimebag will always be a Lord

Anyone else have to fight tears watching these? 😭🤘
Dime's hair is incredible
Imagine if Mustaine had hired the Abbotts instead of hiring Menza and Friedman. I'd like to see that alternate universe lol.
yeah, I couldn't imagine that working out
The Abbotts talent would have been downgraded by Mustaine's ego and Dime never forged his unique style. Glad they didn't join Megadeth.
Would never have worked. Dime would have been relegated to playing previous solos note for note. Only be allowed to write a solo on specific spots for specific lengths of time. Wardrobe would have been dictated. And despite whatever energy is expended on doing a good job, they will be fired in a few years. Nightmare job for most.
I saw them with Megadeth in Cleveland on this tour. It was freaking awesome! I met Phil, Vinny, and Dave. Phil wouldn't sign my beer because it was light beer, lol. He still signed a paper for me, lol.
🤣
Phil Probably chuckled a bit i would say he was probably polite to you but was probably saying to himself what does this fan really want me to sign his bud light? Hes got to be kidding.
If you dont understand that you dont understand where people and probably Phil really were in the 90s.
"How can it be heavier?" Then they drop Far Beyond Driven 🤣
SCHWAAYYYYYY!!! Diamond!!
If u look in the CD for Vulgar display!....
His pic has Diamond Darrell on it still!
Interviewer: “How could it be heavier?”
Dime: “No problem”
Happy memories of my teenage years. Headbangers Ball 😍
Vulgar display of power isn't my favorite album, it's definitely cowboys from hell
