You guys are beyond blessed to have got to spend time with the legendary Dimebag Darrell Abbott. He is my favorite guitarist still to this day. In 2010, I play guitar also. My Fiance said he was going to buy me the Dean Dimebag razorback Cemetery Gates signature guitar for Christmas that year. He even taped a picture of it on my bedroom closet door. I was so excited! Unfortunately, he passed away on December 4th. I was devastated. Just last year, I started looking for one in Reverb. Every one I found was either all jacked up or in another country. Finally, I found one in mint condition, from Texas. They Dimeized it up. I was on the phone with my brother, who lent me the money. I sent him the link and I was talking to him, when I saw it was Sold. I said, we should have jumped on that. Here, it was my brother who bought it for me. Oddly, he was not home when the delivery guy came. He left his phone # tho. My brother called him and he said he was one street over. He brought it to my brothers house. It was delivered on December 4th!!!!!! Crazy huh! He brought it to me and it is perfect! I couldn't believe how beautiful it is. It's like a memorial to Dime and it's a beautiful piece of usable art. I ❤️ this guitar. Thanks for sharing these stories. Dime will live on forever with his amazing playing. There is no one like him. He was like animated. His stage presence was awesome.
"I'm already pre-blown dude, it's kind of like preheat. You know how you set it up to blow up? Well I'm already blown up, so I'm hooked up"..............Dimebonics
I've met all of PanterA except Dime. Vinnie was a really cool guy. Those guys got to live the dream that any musician would dream of. The 90s was the last great decade for music.
It really was the end of an era. It's so vastly different than the music business of today because there is virtually no music business today. It's all self-made, self-contained, streamed, often times free. It was the last time you truly had to leave your house and go pick up new music to experience it as opposed to coming to you.
I recently saw Pantera again. It was really cool to see the songs live again, but it's not the same with all the barriers, seating, rules, cell phones, etc. It was so sterile in the crowd compared to the 80's and 90's. cheers
During a Type O Negative show in Louisville Ky I was headbangin away 4 row seat when from behind me i heard someone say," Hey!! Nobody stands and bangs to a opening act!!!!" Pissed, i turn aroun and it Dimebag Darrell. I bout shit myself. I love that guy.
Worked with both Tim and Sterling on our last album. Dudes were super cool and to work with these guys that helped engineer/produce my favorite bands records is a memory I will never forget.
Sterling said it. The overriding concern for Pantera was each record had to be heavier than the last. They were a metal band and were proud of it. No other metal band can say that. That’s why the dropped tuning was utilized. It was simply heavier.
Hung with Dime many times during Far Beyond touring with Sepultura. The most authentic, down to earth man. Vinny, not so much, but Dime and Phil were always cool as fuck.
Every great artist and creative person I’ve ever met has their own language and vernacular. Artists are wired onto a different level. That’s how they channel intense emotions, and push boundaries
Anyone around Pantera in the early days saw Vince change the tape on that Roland space echo. They used it every gig they played when Ambrose was running the P.A. system.
A tried and true Metal god' is what Dime and his Brother Vinnie are, I.M.O. Id say they were the true, real life Blues Brothers of Metal influence with ZZ Top, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and (Thrash era )Metallica, Moterhead, Megadeth and especially Anthrax, They left there mark on the world to enjoy and influence us in many ways.
The Pantera home movies need to be remastered with a sprinkle of some unseen footage and made available again 🤘🏼 I’ve had them all jacked from 3 times lol mad yes but can’t blame them 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve also talked to more people that never new they existed than do, I know I’d buy them at least 3 more times 🤘🏼😝🤘🏼
When somebody was sticking their finger in their ear itching it or whatever you do when you stick you finger in your ear. Dime called it "workin the three". He also would refer to having the feeling someone is talking about you as three also. When he use to do solos, they would bring out a giant plaster of paris 3 and hands pointing a single finger and stick them in his ears as he was soloing.
Lol ive seen hundreds of videos with dime in them.. and he has a different beer in each video. I think thee only alchohol he swore on was crown n 7even
Coors Light is the Universal Beer. Its consistent as beer gets. A Budweiser served in St Louis absolutely tastes different from a Budweiser bottled in Texas. All Coors Light is from Golden, Colorado. Coors Light... Never fills you up Won't slow you down Getcha Pull! rip Dime rip Vinnie Paul
I grew up with that band. Too bad music doesn't have that anymore. Nobody does it themselves anymore like pantera did. Everybody follows a script now. All the metal band sound the same for the most part. Blast beat... Heavy breakdown. More blast beat. Maybe a Melodic chorus. End.

Dime was thee biggest harted Rocker in the world.
Just imagine if Dimebag was alive during the whole youtube and live stream era, the man would be pushing out content on a daily basis.

Hey it’s my teacher Tim Kimsey! Tim is an awesome guy and a master at his craft!
I'm lucky enough to see the full band 3 times and it was awesome.
“ semi gay-idity” has got to be the best
I met him and he said that about this guy that had a hootie and the blowfish shirt
Dime was just a great soul from everyone that has met or has hung out with him or just being in his presence 🤘❤️
I’ve met em all except for Phil. Dime was exactly as you see him in videos 🤘
When I hung with them at Vince's in Arlington over the years, Dime always called me "Chubbs" bc I'm a fat guy and he was bad with names lol.
I call my cat that shit 😂 too cool man!

Nice interview. Thank you.
I actually caught a pik from Dime.96 Peoria Illinois. Still got it.hope one day we get to enjoy that picture you have brother.🤘
SRV and Dime are equal in my eyes. I've been playing guitar over 30 years and the two of them will always show up in the way I play. Legends.
Ehh
This is great video, but who is Sterling referring to when he said mentions Rex Brown at minute 12:10?
Had a buddy with his own lingo like Dime back in the day. His name was Mike. We called his lingo Mikeanese.
Sterling " testically challenged" Winfield is the one I remember!
Dime is the epiphany of rock just the best
Gotta find the pic of the pics
I got to meet Rita at the 1st Knotfest in San Bernardino California. First time I saw Pantera Dimebag was still going by Diamond Darrell
I remember meeting Rex in 96 on the biohazard and neurosis tour. I remember the drank a lot. I couldn't keep up
Great interview and stories…FUCKIN’ DOG BARKING!!!!?!?
Hahaha trusstttt me when I was doing the interview I was like nooooooooo lol

@nitrojunkie9027 not sure if you're messing with me or not. Very cool either way. I've always wanted to know what the '3' was about lol.
In the conversation about Dime and Stevie Ray, I think Billy Gobbins should have been mentioned too. Just saying.
Andrew [ann-droo] verb. To carry or transport from one location to another.
The Greatest camp to work in was PANTERA. ROCK STARS WENT DEAD AFTER VINNIE & DIME HANDS DOWN
Lol ive seen hundreds of videos with dime in them.. and he has a different beer in each video. I think thee only alchohol he swore on was crown n 7even

We’re gonna pretend Billy Gibbons doesn’t exist?
No Abbott's, No Pantera.
Sorry guys, hang it up.
Vinnie said it himself before his passing.
Clarify, if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sterling the guy jumping over the fire in the Reinventing the Steel cover?
I think it was a guy named Dustin who was someone that Phil knew/knows. I think he also played in Necrophagia with him.
“Dime-bonix” 😂
