    If you ever need proof that two thirds of tone is to do with the player: Dime picks up a guitar he never plays, plugs into someone else's amp, and it instantly sounds like his sound.

    • @johnwirk
      @johnwirk 5 років тому +38

      If those are signature duncan pickups then they are pretty good. But I do agree, the player is obviously what makes the noise. Guitars certainly dont play them selves. I will say though that Dime was exceptional. Ive played for 15 yrs and am ok as far as improvising goes but my hands cant move like his nor do I know where to go all the time. The guitar became and extension of himself and not every player reaches that level nor could they, especially in the time frame that he did.

    • @JustTheFactsMan
      @JustTheFactsMan  7 років тому +73

      This is true. We knew both sides of Darrell. We knew "Dimebag Darrell" and we also knew Darrell Abbott. We loved it when he would stop by and jam with the band, but it was not unusual or unexpected. It was just Darrell stopping in at a neighborhood bar on Friday night. I first met him in 1985 and watched his entire career to the end.
