I think that I will buy this pattern and use the bottom of it for a black linen skirt - without the lace for starters... and see how it goes....! TY for another pleasant teaching vlog
Thank you for another great video. I love this dress and the way it looks on you. I always so look forward to you posting new videos because you are such a great teacher. I love the way you share some of your personal things-your animals. I especially love your cat and I’m convinced he’s a camera hogg but he’s beautiful!!
Thank you so much! The thing is that I have four black cats and three of them love the camera! One lives in the barn, one lives on the porch. One lives in the house, and one just wanders.
Wow perfect fit! Looks beautiful on you! I love the look but wd near sew this dress cuz "it is a lot of work". I like easy peaze. Bless you for sharing
This dress is just perfect on you. Thanks for showing us all the steps. Alas, I am 76 years old and have lost my waistline so the dress would be inappropriate on me but I can dream.
Ok I am getting mad at you. Wink Wink.😋 I found you when I was trying to clean a New Home sewing machine. I did, it only took me about 1 month. lol and now I have 5 more and then I watched your Gunne Sax dress and now I can see I am about to acquire a few new patterns. lol love your stuff! Thanks for the inspiration. 🥰
My goodness, talk about love and patience! Not to mention your skill, and willingness to share that with us. I will never sew this dress, but I hung on every word, as there were so many transferable techniques, and pearls of sewing wisdom. And, you look lovely in the dress. Greetings from Australia. I look forward to more of your most excellent tutorials.
I've had this pattern in my stash for a while. It reminded me more of Laura Ashley than Gunne Saxe, but there is a lot of overlap with those two brands. I love the fabric you chose. It's so pretty and a really great choice. Thank you for the lovely in depth sew along video. It was really pleasant to listen to you talk through all the steps and your observations. It gave me a lot to think about as I keep that pattern in mind for a future project.
Love this dress and appreciate your step by step construction. Beautiful job and you look very lovely in it. Really enjoy your tutorials they have been very helpful in my construction of some of the same patterns. Thank you
The dress turned out beautiful. I love your videos. They’re not only teaching us little tricks but specially patience. I remember sewing pockets the wrong way once and instead of just picking out the stitches and resewing them I just cut them out. LOL No patience here. Thank you.
So pretty... Fabric is beautiful, like daisy chains on the lawn...i was going to suggest you sew around the neckline, to disguise your facing...but you did anyways...lot of work and the effort paid off...fits beautifully... Love from me..x
I have this pattern and have been studying it,so thank you for your video. My mother was a 50s-90s home economics teacher, but I self taught. Having taught high school English for my career, sewn for over 40 years, and at age 67, I learned so much from you about using the seam guide to draft another modified pattern and several other great tips. Calm voice, knowledgeable, you are a great teacher. 🌻
Hello Paula! Thank you for watching. I'm still learning new ways of doing things all the time. 😁😊 I enjoy the process of showing how I make things and love that it helps other people have confidence in their creativity too🧵
I just found your channel because I saw this dress and I’m getting ready to make it too. Loved your tips and tricks with regards to marking the pin tucks and pleats in the skirt. I’ve been sewing for 40 yrs and still learn something new every day😊. You are just lovely in it and you’re a great instructor. I’m looking forward to watching your videos. 🥰
And other vintage eras that grew out of that… Your dress reminds me of the 1970s but also it reminds me of what my grandmother wore in her kitchen when I was little and when she was young.
Pretty dress. The color and style is perfect for you. Not sure I would be up to the challenge now. My sewing is a little more simple these days. Enjoyed watching you put it together though.
That dress was a lot of work but it looks good on you, i think it would look lovely without all the lace. The thread is a great tip. Love that each round up your cat goes for the tripod lol x
Your dress is very pretty. This simplicty pattern is very similar to a Ralph Lauren dress that is available right now in the RRL collection. His dress is in white cotton and jersey, so no pleats in the skirt, and I think there are a couple more tucks on the front, and the arms are a little shorter, but I really like your version. I wondered whether the skirt would look good with all the pleats, but I can see yours looks really great.
The dress is beautiful. I was thinking while watching if one made the dress in a plain fabric a person could embroider where the lace is supposed to go. Ishtar e pretty.
I love your dress! It looks intricate with all those details. Thank you for doing this tutorial. It showed me that the dress is too complicated to sew and time-consuming for me.
I love the square neckline and the shape is very flattering on you. Well done on another very informative tutorial, it was alot of work but well worth it. The fabric is perfect for it too. From Saleena in Australia.
Thank you! I will try this pleat/ tuck technique. I have tried them in the past and always abandoned them... The correction to the front skirt was impressive... Pretty Dress!
First time viewer, new subscriber. Love the pintuck idea. I’ve had heat erasable markings (Frixion pens) reappear when exposed to cold so I stopped using those pens. Great fabric!
Hello! I used the frixion pens for a little while, but had the same problem. I think the formula of these is different somehow. I haven't had them reappear at all. I think in the fine print it says that they can if they reach -5 degrees Fahrenheit. But I've never seen that and we have some cold Winters. And I'm wondering if the residual ink washes out when you launder the item and maybe frixion inks won't. Thanks for watching 😊
Marie, this is really beautiful. I don't do lace myself, but I always admire it on others. There's something so romantic and whimsical about lace when done tastefully. Anyway, this was really enjoyable to watch and it was lovely to meet your little Singer. She's a sweetie...a great great great great grandmother to my own 😀. I often get a little confused re interfacing i.e., if only interfacing one piece of a collar/stand or whatever, does it face the world or does the unlined piece face the world? (sometimes I think interfacing both pieces makes the thing too stiff). Also, with regards to grading seams, I've usually seen people grade so that the shortest seam is on the inside, with the longest against the garment...if that makes sense. Do you think it matters? Thank you for sharing, Marie! Your world appears idyllic and full of beauty. Enjoy!
I Faith! Sewing patterns can be confusing. Sometimes the interfaced the side is considered the outside piece. Sometimes they interface the one that in the inside piece. Sometimes they want to interface everything, and it's just too much, and you have to use your own judgment. Sometimes, but rarely, they skip interfacing all together where there really needs to be some. I don't think that there's a set rule. Just use your best judgement. The same thing for grading seems I think. Everyone seems to have their own way. For me, if there is a piece that has thick interfacing I want to cut that shorter because it's going to have more bulk than at peace without interfacing. So I usually make that the shortest but other people do it the opposite way. I think it's just a preference thing. Figure out what works for you. Thank you again for watching😁
Thank you for all the tips on this dress, I have it in my make soon basket. Oh, was your mom from Many? I am and we shopped at Nichol's. I use to buy my fabric there, but they really had everything. Thanks again!
Thank you!! I bought that fabric at Joann. Actually that's where I buy most of my fabric. I tend to hang out in the mark down section looking for deals 😊😁
Definitely worth the effort and you provided some excellent tips for easing in small amounts of fabric. I really like the use of stretch lace for hemming a curved hem. It’s a lovely spring dress! Did you also make the blue one you wore with the white border print? That’s another style of dress have been looking at making. Thank you for a nice calming and informative video.
What a beautiful comprehensive tutorial! I've been sewing for 50 years and learned some things from you today! Thank you.
What a beautiful dress. I love the intro music and watching you with the horse. ❤
I'm in awe of your patience and attention to detail. Great tutorial, thank you. Love the dress.
Very becoming, another beautiful dress.
This dress is perfect...gorgeous material..design is perfect and very flattering...alot of work but it is beautiful on you.💚💚💚💚
Thank you!!
Everything looks pretty, thank you for the sewing machine music.
This dress of yours is the most beautiful Gunny Sax I've seen. I'm gonna try and get a hold of the pattern. Thank you for sharing.
Thats so fresh looking with the green & white. You’ve done a beautiful job as usual. There was so much work in all those details!
Really lovely Marie. A lot of work but we'll worth it. Take care
Great work. LOOKS great on you!

I love then too. Wishing I was younger and could wear them every day.. while skipping through chamomile fields.. or something like that :)
Lovely dress, your patience is inspiring, I’m learning so much from your tutorials, thank you.
I love the dress! It is very flattering
Your dress turned out beautiful. I learned a lot from your tutorial.
Awesome! We have to make this over the Summer. Nicely done

Hello Chrissie in Australia!!! Thank you most kindly 😁
That's an awesome presser foot tool. To raise the presser foot the same height as the bulk fabric.
I love how this dress fits you! The fabric is very pretty.

Looking back there seems to be at least one screw up or problem for each video. That maybe that's just part of sewing in general. Thanks for watching😊
Wow, your dress is gorgeous and the fit is perfect. All that work was so worth it. Thankyou for this lacy tutorial.
So pretty... Fabric is beautiful, like daisy chains on the lawn...i was going to suggest you sew around the neckline, to disguise your facing...but you did anyways...lot of work and the effort paid off...fits beautifully... Love from me..x
Great job and it looks great on you!!!
I will never make that type of dress but your tips are worth watching all of your video. Your hands are masterful.
Thank you! 😊

Dress is beautiful.xx
It's more than pretty. It's great. I love your videos. You have a very calming effect on me x
It fits you perfectly
Thank you! I think that if I was to make it again I'd skip a lot of the lace, but it was fun to give it a go, and I do love the fabric.
I love the Edwardian vibes!

Great tutorials. I heard they were going to reissue the gunne sax patterns. So happy to see it! Now I gotta go shopping!
Let me know if you find them!! Love those dresses 😁
Love the dress❤️
I bought this pattern today and looked at the same fabric you are using. How helpful!
It looks really lovely! 😍
Good way to do the pin tucks.
Another lovely dress! It looks beautiful on you! And a great master class, thank you!
Another great tutorial, particularly involving the lace. Thank you!

Thank you for this tutorial on this dress ,I just purchased the pattern. Your dress is lovely.
Gorgeous garment as always. I would love to make that bodice just as a top.
I’m busy making this dress. I’d love to see a tutorial on the blue dress you’re wearing here 😊please.
The dress is beautiful. I was thinking while watching if one made the dress in a plain fabric a person could embroider where the lace is supposed to go. Ishtar e pretty.
That's a great idea!
This is Beautiful 😍
Beautiful
I love your dress! It looks intricate with all those details. Thank you for doing this tutorial. It showed me that the dress is too complicated to sew and time-consuming for me.
Thank you so much for this video. I just cut this pattern out today. Now I’m wondering what I have gotten myself into!
If all the way seems overwhelming I think the dress without doing the lace would be a lot simpler and just as pretty😁
Fits you beautifully!
I only ever owned 1 GunnySax dress
It was my Easter dress one year
I love the square neckline and the shape is very flattering on you. Well done on another very informative tutorial, it was alot of work but well worth it. The fabric is perfect for it too. From Saleena in Australia.
Hello Saleena in Australia! Thank you so much!
I loved this one! A little too complicated for me but you did it well.
Thank you! I will try this pleat/ tuck technique. I have tried them in the past and always abandoned them... The correction to the front skirt was impressive... Pretty Dress!
Thank you!!! Good luck :)

Very nice on you. Not gunnysack. I would like to have a waist like you have. I have to do more pattern adjustment. Green is lovely

@@mybucoliclife Thank you! I agree. I shall give myself permission to decide for myself from now on!!!!! 😁
do you ever do a pattern without changing things. how long have you been sewing. you are amazing
Many times I have every intention of following it perfectly, but get in the middle, and things change. Such is the fun in sewing I suppose. 😊

Thank you! I bought it at Joann. It is 100% linen, I think the print is called daisy chain, by I might be wrong. 😊
Love your linen fabric. Where did you find it?
Hi there! I bought it at a Joann Fabrics store in Columbus, Ohio. They might have it online. 😊
