finally. a reviewer who actually goes through the features in detail
👍
33 seconds in and already know I stumbled across a good dude.
Thanks so much!
27.9 seconds for me.
I was like, where is the dude who makes the best reviews? I was watching videos about other watches the other day. All in all, I found DesFits videos about watches best!
Thanks Maty and Andrew!
Ditto. Very well done. Thanks, Des.
Your reviews always get to the stuff that actually matters with these fitness wearables & smartwatches!
Keep up the great work
Thanks so much! Glad they help.
I’m so glad that you have a video that explains the charge 4 because I didn’t know that much about it
Glad it helped 👍
Your reviews are really great because you cover so many features and in good detail. I’m not in the market for this watch, but still enjoyed the video!
Thanks so much for tuning in!
Great to have your knowledge and expertise on this - you explained everything really clearly
Glad it helped! Thanks!
Your reviews are incredible! Your data comparison so great!! I'm not looking for style but for accuracy recordings. Thanks for great reviews!
Sure thing! Thanks!
Seriously, Des... You do the best reviews! Keep up the great work! 💪
Thanks so much!!
Great info! Love the data and comparison graphs. High quality review!
Thanks!
your review is soooo detail. keep doing this! love your content :D
Thanks so much! Will do!
Great review! Thanks for taking the great amount of time that you did for us!
Sure thing! Thanks!
Most comprehensive review as always
Thanks!!
Excellent thorough review. Appreciate the honest commentary.
Sure thing. Thanks!
Great review man
Nice, clear and straight to the point
Keep it up✌🏻
Thank you!!
Hi Des from Italy, great videos as usual! Do you see any discrepancies regards to the kcal count? Have you noticed an underestimation? Thanks!
Not even in the market for one, but love watching the reviews!
Thanks a bunch!
same haha I use a Fitbit Ionic!
@ I'm buying the charge 4 and selling the ionic. I want to wear a regular watch with it. The ionic also is a pain to load music.
@@AlanTrades i was literally thinking the same thing, except im thinking whether or not I need a fitbit
@ its not a smart watch. Its an activity tracker. It tracks your weight (aria scale), steps (setting goals and competing with the online community is always fun), in depth sleep analysis, runs, hikes, and 7 day battery life. It won't answer your calls, thats what my phones for lol. I especially like the countdown timer which I use extensively
Thank you man. I was about to buy a charge 4 but thanks to your video I realize I can go completely fine with the charge 3 since my main sports beachvolley ball and weights do not benefit at all from gps inclusion. Cheers
Yup, you should be good to go. Thanks!
Thanks for the review. I appreciate you pointing out things like premium subscription only features eg 4:32 as this greatly influences my decision to buy or look at other brands.
Sure thing
Great content as usual 👍🏾
Thanks!
Holy moly he def puts the fit in desfit, anyone else see those 7-minute mile paces, phew!!!
👍
Great review ! Thank you
Sure thing. Thanks!
Just the review I needed! Saved me $50.
👍
Great review @DesFit! I just ordered one and wanted to ask how if it automatically registers your run AFTER you warm up? I usually spend about 10 mins stretching + high knees etc before starting session so not sure if that would throw the data off a bit.
Great job, Des!
Thanks John!
Great content., good to see good reviews
Thanks!
Great review keep it up man
Thanks!
Very informative review, thank you! I do have a question, I was comparing this to the other models and this one doesn’t have “on screen workouts”? If you can, can you clarify what this means and what we’d be missing out on? Thank you!
Wow.....very detailed review.
Thanks!
Super review!! Thank you!! One question : can you control Spotify while exercising ? I have a MiFit from Xiaomi and that band doesn’t allow me to switch to other functions while recording an exercise ... shame because it’s a cheap but nice quality device
thanks for this review
Sure thing.
Hello Des, thanks for the great review! What would you recommend as a good fitness tracker for weight and body training under 200$? Many thanks!
I have a few that I can recommend in the video description. Thanks!
Can you make a video on best budget fitness watches? And can you review amazfit verge lite?
*RECOMMENDATIONS:*
Fitness tracker recommendation.
What tracker would you recommend for tracking diverse forms of activity, accurate calorie counting, external HR monitor and has a sleek profile?
I have and like the Charge 4 as a basic tracker, it's sleek size, and the sleep tracker. However, I am concerned it's not tracking my calories and activities accurately enough to help me improve my fitness. I need more and accurate data.
Thanks!
Are you planning to make a review for Galaxy Watch 3 in the near future? It's hard to find good reviews that really test the data regarding accuracy properly, pretty much you and DC Rainmaker are the only channels that do good job in that regard...
hi, I'm looking to buy the Fitbit Charge 4 and I was wondering how accurate this tracker is when it comes to treadmill running. Is it accurate in distance? would it also record incline running? Thank you so much for the review! just subscribed!
Well done!
Thanks!
Good and clearly explained video. I noticed most of your on device GPS running was in more hilly or mountain areas. Do you think the GPS would be adequate in more flat landscape.
Hills and elevation gain/loss don't generally have an affect on GPS unless it's in an area with tall objects around them (such as in a valley or if there are cliffs). Flat areas will be fine unless you are in an area with a lot of tall buildings and such. It's more about how unobstructed your view is to the sky than the elevation gain or loss. Thanks!
finally! a video! but i already return my fitbit charge 4 due to the heart rate dips
I'm considering getting a Charge 4. However, have been through 3x Charge 3's. The issues with the Charge 3: "sleep not tracked", took nearly a year for the software bug to be patched, both wrist bands broke (I rarely take watch off as I use it to track sleep), last issue was the worst where the screen faded so much that I could no longer easily see what was being displayed. I was given a full refund. I'm concerned the same issues will plague the Charge 4. I'm considering getting a different sleep and heart rate track watch, but it's a shame as I like the minimal design of the Charge 4. The support from Fitbit, was ordinary.
I love your videos. keep doing what you do.
Thanks!
Thanks for the review! What were the other devices that you used to compare GPS and heart rate data?
There were lots of other devices. The names are listed in the comparison charts and screenshots. Thanks!
Are you guys having any issue with smart track activating for bike rides? Thank you for your video.
Automatic like for the Syncro shirt ;-)
Haha, thanks!
I'm going on a hiking trip and wanted to get a fitness tracker under 200. What would you recommend?
I have a charge 2 and I found it under estimating heart rate at the upper end and so I got a ionic, which measured higher rate. I would what the build differences are.
Does this fitbit track rowing activities? Thank you.
ahh you also have those darm gaps between strap and body. I contacted fitbit and they sent me replacement straps (leather, eww). and the gap is still there. All my previous models were flush.
What about weighLifting, does it auto detect it?
This just confirmed that after using Charge 2 and Ionic (which broke) switching to Garmin was a great move :)
Thanks Des, for the GPS tests, did you have the glonas boost on?
I tried all combinations and didn’t see any substantial difference.
I bought this device today DesFit. I was contemplating between buying Garmin ForeRunner 245 and this (Despite the price difference) - but I get a two-year warranty on this where I am (India),.
Garmins are sturdy af and have more of what I want - but from what I hear in the cycling network in my city - Once forerunners develop blots on the watch dial, Garmin is refusing to fix it (and only in India 😢).
The resting HR sold me (I use strava for cycling so I think I'm good).
Since I'm only really going to be using it for swimming and walking, I think it would work decently for me.
Oop, when he recommended charger 3 and mine decided to give me issues at end of April. Connectivity issues and now an error message after I guess there lasted update. On the google play store it’s been really bad reviews. I’m really tired Fitbits connectivity issues but charger 4 seems to be great upgrade that I can get behind.
Thanks for your review.
If you said which GPS settings you used, I may have missed it. Did you use the low power GPS detection, and did you use GLONASS?
As far as the heart rate readings, I have an Ionic (5years). I was seeing numbers that were higher than I thought they should be, especially in spin classes. Fitbit recommends making sure you wear it higher on your wrist, and changing this corrected the readings. (used a wristband).
It will be interesting to see the future of their higher end smartwatches as much of the functionality is moving into the rest of their line, including the trackers.
Keep up the great work.
I tried different combinations of all the settings and didn't see much difference. In fact, I had some of the worst results using built-in, GLONASS on, with low power off. I am usually testing another wrist-based HR on most tests and at 7:08 I show another device I was testing with better results. And yes, you are correct - wearing a device higher on your wrist produces better results.
@@DesFit Thanks for getting back!
@@DesFit GLONASS on/off shouldn't matter in your case since FCC regulations effectively ban all GNSS that isn't GPS in the US. (e.g. GLONASS, Galileo)
Great review. I would not recommend the Charge 4 for swimming as I am guessing that just like the Charge 3 your tracker will die.
Does this give reminders to move or workout if one is sedentary for a while?
Hi, big fan here! How do you get the Heart rate information in weight lifting? I understand that fitbit only give information from outdoor activities. Thankssss
You can check out the information on heart rate for weight lifting in the video 👍
hey ! how is accuaracy for calories tracking ?
Will this adequately track hikes? Elevation in addition to distance, steps and calories?
Nice background music.
What is your background music ??
Epidemic Sound 👍
Great Review! I was just wondering would you recommend a Charge 4 or Charge 3 for running frequent 5Ks and interval running.
Go with the charger 4. My Fitbit charger 3 has been giving me issues with connectivity and I’m unable to connect it with my phone. And I’m getting an error message now. However, both have great battery life. I bought my mom the charger 4 and it seems to be doing just fine for her.
@@Ash2theB Alright thanks 🙏🏽
I'm a soccer coach and I'm in the market for a fitness tracker...any advice?
Thoughts on the Xiaomi Mi Band 5? I'm on the fence as I want the Charge 4, but in these covid times the Mi Band 5 is temping.
I bought mi band 5 almost one month ago and it has been working really fine with 90 percent accuracy.
I have.a question about the bands. Whether I choose black, rosewood or blue, do the bands all feel the same? For some reason, the rosewood looks more like hard plastic compared with the black band. Is that true? I want a soft rubberized band - not hard plastic. Thank you for your assistance.
Please review the Galaxy Watch 3 🙏🙏🙏
I am looking for a recommendation for a simple watch for running. All I really want is to measure distance and listen to music. Thx
Probably gonna have to go with a smart watch just for the music part
I’m looking to workout more(keeping track of calories/calories burned, steps, distance etc) would you recommend this or would you pass? I’m not looking to break the bank😂
Please review Samsung Galaxy Watch 3
Yes please
Good
very informative. I just bought the fitbit charge 4 and my settings only include: brightness, vibration, heart rate, do not disturbe, notifications and about. Thats it. Why doesn't my brand new out of the box charge 4 have what you are discribing? Missing Sleep mode, active zones, screen time, GPS settings, GLONASS, GPS low, reset to default, and GPS info, i checked the version and its updated. whats going on?????
Requires update. The update is now available
Can you do fitbit luxe?
Hi. I currently use a Garmin Vivosmart HR+. I am about to purchase a new one, was looking at Fitbit Charge 4, but debating..The Garmin Vivosmart HR+ lags on higher rate workouts. It literally stalls and stays lower when I am out of breath compared to when I am just walking. The calorie count is really very inaccurate. Lastly, the watch is too bulky [GPS which I quite using] and I cannot wear it sleeping, thus the sleep meter feature benefit gets lost. I am looking for an as close as possible accurate calorie counting devise that I can wear at all times and it doesn't get overwhelmed when I doing hiit or higher rate workouts. I would really appreciate the advise. Thank you.
You have done a very good review but why don't you do any reviews of mi band 5? Is it because of the cheaper price?
There are only so many devices I can review and I have to pick and choose what’s most appropriate for my channel and audience.
Fitbit charge 4 or Garmin vivoactive 3? in the market for a new fitness watch. Would like to hear your opinion
The Vívoactive 3 would provide much more in the fitness and sports department. 👍
I got a Versa 2 for swimming. As near as I can tell, the only thing you can view while swimming is elapsed time, which to me is worthless since there is a clock on the wall, and I need laps, and pulse rate to view while swimming. Any suggestions? Also, it doesn't count my kicking laps, and I put in 1500+ yards per work out just kicking.
Side note, it doesn't track pulse rate very well, and is kind of all over the place. I swam an hour straight once, and I am very mechanical that way, same # of strokes per lap, and individual lap times within about 3 seconds, and it had my pulse rate all over the place.
Like your review, on the bike it does okay, but is off a bit, and I get some big variations in pulse rates.
I am looking for something similar, what watch did you go for eventually?
@@hiekevanrijswijk8222 I will be getting an Apple series 3 or some thing like that name. My girlfriend has one. Seems like most swimmers go for the Apple watches. You don't need the new expensive watch if you are just interested in a fitness tracker. Seems like the runners prefer the Garmin watches. Not sure exactly, though one I looked at had a brass or copper button on the back that actually pressed into your skin a bit, which would make for better contact, and more accurate readings. Not sure how well the swim function works on it. I haven't really seen any comments about it in the reviews I have watched. Still not sure if the Apple will track my kicking laps. The Fit Bit lost one bike ride lap last week, and gave me one on a day when I swam but didn't ride... Not a good piece of equipment... Well, maybe an okay piece, but not good.
@@robohippy thank you so much for this info I'm going to look into it
Does it cover badminton?
At this price point, which device would you recommend? To track the overall activity like fitbit does. Btw. Loved your video. Subbed and liked.
What wearable do you suggest for gym-based workouts mainly strength training?
If you want accurate heart heart, the Apple Watch Series 4 or 5 will be the best for wrist based heart rate. Otherwise, try to find one that can pair to an external heart rate strap like a Garmin or Polar wearable. The Charge 4 does not have the capability to pair to external sensors.
Hello i loved if you can do a test of fitbit sense with the new os 5.1. I know you are not inspired by this watch i see you're video with DC RAINMAKER but there is some guy's says the heart rate are better now. And with you're test we can have an certitude about this (sorry for my english i'm french..)
Yup, still currently testing and I’ll have my results out soon. Thanks so much for tuning in!!
Could you please please review the Fitbit versa 3 and sense too!
I’ll see what I can do!
I was hoping for the same thing.
same!! This confirms my suspicions that the charge (I had a 3 that now needs to be replaced) is pretty inaccurate in terms of heart rate, but I'd love to see if the versa 3 and sense are better!
@@jocelynhuang7949 I'm going to wait and see now on the Versa 3. It seems many of the reviews are meh at best.
@@TNKHART Yeah, that's what I'm seeing too, bummer since my previous device was a fitbit and would like to keep within the same ecosystem
Will you ever do a top 5/10 list video? Or which watches are most accurate? I really trust your opinion over a best buy associates lol
Nope, mainly because there are different watches for different people and their varying uses.
@@DesFit what would you recommend for good accuracy with heart rates and gps that wont break a 300$ budget and that doesn't sacrifice too many smart phone features? I'm scared my Galaxy Active 2 isnt accurate enough for my workouts
Can you do a review for the samsung watch 3?
Currently testing it
@@DesFit Nice!
Is anyone else annoyed by the gap between the body and the straps? I just bought one to upgrade from a Charge 2 and immediately had to reach out to Fitbit support to get a replacement because of the gap. My Charge 2 for 4 years and have never had that problem. Has anyone purchased one that doesn't have the gap?
Garmin forerunner 45 is such a better choice!
Hi, I was hoping you could clarify does the garmin Venu sq or Venu have the active zone minutes too like the Fitbit charge 4?
Garmin uses a concept called Intensity minutes which is very similar. 👍
I too was disappointed with the GPS accuracy of the Fitbit Charge 4 initially. To be fair, it is now more accurate after a software update that includes linking up with GLOSNASS along with the GPS. The route tracking is greatly improved as a result. It still under-reported my distance though. After viewing this review, I swapped out the Fitbit Charge 4 for the Garmin Vivoactive 3 as suggested above. But, the Garmin isn't any more accurate! Both devices give a reading of about 4.9 miles for a route that is 5.1 according to Google Maps. So, both devices under-report my pace as well. The main advantage of the Garmin over the Fitbit is that the Garmin's watch face is a lot easier to see. The Fitbit face has too much glare. On the other hand, the Fitbit's app interface is much more user friendly.
In counting steps, will it count all in a day, or only those after I’ve walked 10 minutes? Most of my activity is in short bursts and I want it all to count!
Fitbits count pretty consistently but in general it can count steps when you’re not actually walking. I drove an hour one time and it gave me 5,000 steps while sitting in the car.
First❤️
🤙
@@DesFit Hey can you suggest one home gym equipment like pull up bar. This quarantine made me chubby
@@DesFit btw love your work keep it up
I think we all put on a few pounds/kilos with the quarantine! I sure did 😂 I don’t have much info on home gym equipment though. Thanks for watching!
Does this device track your foot steps and heart rate with ought gps on? and with ought having your phone on you?
Yup, without your phone
Sucks that you need to tether your phone, which means you cannot get a lot of features without your phone is on your person. Additionally, it would have been nice to make the crystal sapphire to reduce scratching and gouging of the touch screen,
With the features that you mentioned the price would easily be double what it is, mainly the sapphire.
Does this come with the Fitbit feature where we have to buy a new one every 6 months?
LOL
Hello I want to get one I live in Canada where do you suggest me buying one what store
Maybe on Amazon? geni.us/fitbitcharge3
give you the least and selling you the most.. im going to the whoop
I have serious issues with sync on Charge 4.
The GPS is disappointing, do you think a garmin vivoactive 3 or garmin venu would have more accurate GPS?
Most definitely.
Is this the Fenix 6 solar I see on your wrist? 👀
Yup. On the wrist for a long-term review.
@@DesFit Can't wait. I love your reviews
How to check oxygen level ? Pls let me know
It’s automatically measured during sleep
which watch has the best GPS and heart rate accuracy ? it's almost impossible to make a choice. Help Me....
Heart rate goes to the Apple Watch Series 4/5/6. GPS would likely be a Garmin 245 or COROS Pace 2.
@@DesFit ok cool, but are the heart rate of the Garmin and the coros are ok or very bad. I am more roadbike and rollerblade sport man.
Both COROS and Garmin HR will do just fine for those activities. The Apple Watch is just a little better when it comes to activities that pose more challenges for HR sensors like weight training/HIIT.
what are the other devices you used to compare?
You'll be able to see most of the device names in the comparison charts in the video.
My Charge 4 doesn't have the options for screen timeout??
Yeah same. I was surprised Des has it on his; maybe there's an software update 🤔
@@bam9975 I bought the Charge 4 and it updated like 3 days later. All the settings are there now!
