For those complaining about the "button issue"... for me the button works flawlessly...though, at first I was seeing the issue... but I have found that even though it isn't a button that moves in and out, you STILL have to apply pressure to the button. Since I figured that out, I haven't had a single issue with the button... give it a light press as if it was an actual moving button. Hope that helps those experiencing that particular issue.
Regarding sleep temperature monitoring. A lot of women monitor temps when they get up for pregnancy planning. A higher temp could indicate ovulation. Yay fun fact 😝
I bought and returned the Fitbit Sense and got an Apple Watch - I had both for about a week and when doing weight training, Polar H10 was showing 180, Apple Watch 179 and Fitbit Sense was showing 110. It's just so far off, making it completely unusable. It works fine for steady cardio, but the latency is so high that if you're doing strength training where you're 30 seconds on, 10 seconds off, it just completely misses the heart rate spikes.
@Vicki H They are all terrible. Have a look at the quantified scientist channel on UA-cam, he compares all of them. Garbin is terrible too. It seems Apple Watch is in a class of its own, things like Whoop are not too far away in accuracy.
Just wanted to say that I watching both this video and your Fitbit sense video. Both really well done and super helpful. Thank you very much for making them 😁
I love my versa 3, but agreed with the heart rate. I train regularly, I also use a heart rate belt and between that and the watch the heart rate is very off. I find it doesn't track my max heart rate properly. But overall a great product
I got my Versa 3 with my pre-order and I'm so happy someone else agrees with some of the same annoyances I have. I hate the new "button". My Versa 1 was nearly just as good as this watch is. I do appreciate built in GPS. I haven't bothered using always on display yet because I don't want to have to charge it more often.
I'm just getting into my health/hopeful weight loss. Your videos are very in depth and informative! Still not sure which one I want but these are great. THANK YOU!
The OS refresh not coming to the Versa 2 also indicates how quickly they'll leave this for updates when the Versa 4 comes out. That's part of why I stopped seeing Fitbits as a value alternative to the Apple Watch, or a value at all, you'll generally get more years out of the latter. With the Series 3 where it is, I'm hard pressed to recommend this, though of course only iPhone users really have that option.
Thanks for your review. I’ve had a Versa 3 for nearly 5 months and it’s been disappointing. The watch regularly shows the wrong time and I have to synch it often to correct it. Other features are underwhelming for the price of the product.
Excellent review. Totally agree the hr is very inaccurate. On hikes always about 12 bpm out, sometimes more. Guess I'm unlucky too! Hopefully can improve.
I am far from athletic or fit, I bought a Sense and had the same issue! I sent that back and was going to do a Versa 3…but seems they both suck. Which I had a feeling would happen once they merged with Google. As I use to have a jawbone up forever ago and they vanished as well when Google merged with them..Google is just bad news for fitness stuff. I own an Ionic now and absolutely loved it, it has lasted 2 plus years and it just recently started being wonky with the update it had not to long ago. Losing GPS and heart rate, so needed something new is the only reason why I did the Sense. I do have an Apple Watch 6, but Fitbit’s zone points and overall app is better than Apple watches set up..Only reason why I still use it.
Thank you I just got a versa 3 and was second guessing myself thinking that 1 should have gotten to sense but you cleared up that the versa 3 I better for the price
Great review! Thank you! It seems there is almost no point in buying Fitbit nowadays. Especially for iPhone users. Apple Watch Series 3 is still on sale often for $169-$199, and it is better in every way except battery life.
Battery life was a huuuge factor for me when looking into getting a new watch. Got this one and I'm super happy - it's a huge upgrade from the Apple Watch
Great review....very diplomatic. I have to say if my old company sold vaporware like Fitbit we would have lost our customers. "Coming soon" is the last thing a user wants to see. Time to dive into your wearables comparison. I am mostly a cyclist for exercise and looking to monitor health metrics to go along with performance metrics
what did you end up going for dude? this is an absolute minefield for me, I'm looking to get into cycling and do a lot of running/calenstenics so just saw your comment and thought i'd ask what you managed to get as you look like you know what you're talking about and the options are driving me a little bit crazy haha
Quite a lot to absorb for this here 68 year old gal. Fast talking for a slower mindset. My Medicare advantage plan offers (3) Fitbit units of which I had no prior knowledge of. I’ll have to watch a few of these UA-cam vids before I decide whether it’s something I need. If I understand you correctly the Fitbit Versa 3 doesn’t offer a high/low bp alert which is something I’d find most beneficial due to a heart condition. 🦩
Sadly that will make me leave fitbit. Google should've stayed just email and search engine. They've made UA-cam lame and they're a sketchy company in general. Sad
After watching your reviews and trusting your feedback. I'm going with the Apple 6 series and work my way up to a Garmin. Thanks for the review. It does help.
Great video... thank you. You mention loading your own music files is no longer available; do you think this is something that can be correct with a software/firmware update? I find not being able to load my own music negates the need to have GPS because it still requires me to carry my phone! You also mention that Google now owns Fitbit and will be offering their OS rather than the Fitbit OS; is this something that will be able to be downloaded to currently owned Sense and Versa 3 watches?
I got so excited for this then I learned that you can only store offline music from deezer and pandora who are so irrelevant that they come under "other" in marketshare and you can't even upload your own music any more. For me that makes the versa 3 and sense total write offs, the garmin venu sq ticks every box for me so I'll just get that instead. I have no idea how fitbit became a market leader making products with so many easily fixable faults.
burnzy3210 Yeah, not being able to upload your mp3s anymore is a bummer. I was thinking to upgrade my old ionic to the versa3 but after learning this I would also probably go for the Garmin Venu. Apple watch is also nice, but 1-2 days battery life is for me a no go.
The GPS in the Versa 3 isn't good . . . I didn't get it for the GPS anyway, but I used it at the same time as my NRC App on my iPhone which I've used to track my runs for something like nine years now -- impeccably accurate of course. Anyway, the Versa 3 GPS gave me insane split times and the GPS cut out all the time. It tracks distance and pace wrong, and not by just a little bit.
I have an Iphone 8 plus but next year i'm hoping to upgrade to the samsung note 20 ultra so I can't justify getting an apple watch only to use it for one year. Should I save up for the samsung watch or should I just buy the fitbit versa 3?
Thank you for the great review I’ve tried the sense its Fitbit has a good stuff, totally agree with the issue for its button, I did set it up as shortcut for cycling and its start many times without me touching (holding) the button.
Fitbit just rolled out version 5.1 . Could you do an updated review? I held off on purchasing the Versa 3 because of your review and might look at Garmin Venu SQ now that the Versa 3 is on sale which has it priced the same price as the Venu SQ. - Thank you
I have had 3 Fitbits. Issues with all of them. Bought a Garmin Venu instead and it's great so far. I already have a Garmin Fenix 5X so knew what to expect.
Wow! I am the opposite 😊Had 2 Fitbits before, decided to upgrade for Garmin Venu and regret is soooo much! It is super inaccurate, whatever issue you Google it just says “well, yeah, this feature is inaccurate, it is just a rough estimate” it even does not track calories and sleep accurately, not talking about stairs, body battery, intensity minutes, daytime naps etc. Basically, all Garmin does correctly is just steps. Waste of money! Even my 7 year old fitbit was already more accurate in everything. So now I want to return Garmin and get a newer Fitbit again.
@@Rise_888 I think you must have had a bad one. Garmin are known to be one of the most accurate. I have had a number of Garmin's and they have all been very good both in terms of accuracy (tested against 2 other GPS sources) and reliability.
Bought one of these and ended up returning it. Continual problems with the watch 'synching' with my phone. Twice re-installed the App and once did a factory reset on the watch to try and solve the problem. Finally the watch stopped receiving calls and messages from the phone. Looking at the online help forums for the Fitbit Versa 3 this seems to be a common problem with lots of users. For £200 I expected a lot more, would not buy another and would warn other potential buyers to be aware of this issue.
Great review as always. You're the absolute best in smartwaches. What you recommend for an amateur runner and smartwatch/gadget enthousiast? Is there an google watch on its way?
hated mine, sent it back to amazon and got the apple watch 3, more intuitive and easier to navigate app and software, easier to charge, easier to take on and off,
Your oxygen saturations are always lower when you sleep, it does not necessarily mean it is inaccurate. Especially if you snore. If you've ever worn an oximetry and helped your breath or spoke it does go down a bit
I literally came here to try to figure out the silly side button. I’ve only had this watch since Sunday and I’m considering sending it back because of the side button.
Gee wizz, I was just about to buy x 2 but after your review I told wife to hold fast. So what watch are you wearing in this video cuz I assume that’s your choice smart watch?
Why is it that this type of button was so wanted, many complained them at the Charge series got it but not the Versa line Fitbit says this button must be completely covered. For me it is almost flawlessly working.
Great video! We were in my friends car talking about he's apple watch, Nike edition. He's messages and map directions were appearing on he's watch screen, I think it's really cool! Could you recommend a smartwatch that looks and functions like the apple watch please? I use Samsung, android
I have a charge 4 that does everything this device does do, minus the Spo2. I just bought the Garmin 245 and I like it., I am having a hard time without the touchscreen though. But health and sport metrics are light years ahead of fitbit. The body battery is very accurate. I am primarily a weight lifter and just getting into running and the 245 fits my needs at the moment. I am curious to know what is your primary fitness tracker at the moment? Which one is the one you wear to bed and the one that you use to keep all your stats. Thank you.
I don't understand the bit about google taking over. Is that going to change the features? The main thing I want is basic fitness tracking and the smart alarm feature where it wakes me up when I am sleeping lightly. Will these things change?
Was going to get this for my mom but I am just going to get her the new Charge because i know she isn't going any of the features and they are kinda pointless .
Question! Since Fitbit was bought out by Google, and you mentioned that the Fitbit OS will be going away, perhaps I didn't quite understand what you said, but if that be the case, what will it be replaced with, and I assume the new Sense and Versa 3 will work with that new OS? What about the older Ionic etc., will they then be obsolete? By the way, I agree with you. The new button is a pain. Why didn't they keep the regular button on the previous model!!
Just a warning: Fitbit recently hid some previous features under a monthly payment, so, besides the devices being more expensive now, you will also have to pay additional monthly charges if you want some basic features(like seeing your heart rate when you were sleeping).
Question for ya... The only features I really care about is the tracking and ability to be able to play music or a playlist (pandora is fine) and Bluetooth the music to my ear buds in the gym without needing my phone with me. Will this device do that? If not, is there a device that will without having to blow 3-400 bucks on it.
I haven't found much on the internet about google making fitbit os go away. Where have you found this info? doest that mean wear os is coming to fitbit devices? It sure doesn't look that wear OS is the future since google hasn't touched it for a long time, up until the recent update. I think you should elaborate more on that cause it could be important when deciding whether to buy this
Details here: www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/11/google-acquires-fitbit-what-it-actually-means-to-wearables-and-the-industry.html - Key quotes are: Their SVP of Devices and Services, Rick Osterloh noted that this “an opportunity to invest even more in Wear OS as well as introduce Made by Google wearable devices into the market.” - combined with Fitbit refusing to confirm that Fitbit OS will remain. Nobody from Fitbit has disputed that Fitbit OS is going away. It's absolutely going away.
Hi. Thanks for your informative video. I am wondering with the versa 3 is there anyway to keep auto sync on? It seems I have to sync at least twice a day. Alexa is often off-line. Also the new items that you say will be coming for the versa three will they be available to people who purchased the older versus three? Does it automatically upgrade? Thanks again for your input.
I got Garmin and regret is soooo much! Basically, all Garmin does correctly is just steps. Waste of money! Even my oldest 7 year old fitbit was already more accurate in everything.
I am looking at upgrading from my amazfit bip it's heart reate detection is all over the place. I like the idea of the one in the sensor in the versa 3, might wait to see if it goes any further on sale here in canada, as of today it is $230 on sale.
All optical HR sensors have limitations, even on the most expensive ones. The get the most accurate HR data while exercising you need to pair with a chest HR monitor. Fitbit still don't allow this (crazy right!) But thankfully Garmin do. 😌
Hey there. I'm looking to buy my first fitness watch for day to day tracking with a bit of gym and cardio training to lose weight. I've been watching heaps of your reviews and loving them so good work on those. I'm leaning towards the Garmin as I like the features they have and I also just like the brand In general. However, I have been reading about an Issue with the HR sensors cracking, old AND new ones. What do you know about this? Thanks for all your great reviews...Cheers :)
have these "coming soon" updates happened yet for the Versa 3? Or would it be available in another watch all together? I want to get this watch, but not if those items you mentioned aren't available. or those issues you mentioned aren't "fixed"
The one thing bad about Fitbit Versa 3 is that it sometimes gets broken unexpectedly meaning by that for example I once charged the device by using it’s adapter but apparently it doesn’t recognise that the battery is charging.
I bought this watch today. Hardly wore it for 5 min and I can't stand it. The screen is barely responsive. A lot of good features are actually not free. You have to buy a premium membership to use them. Over all I was very disappointed
Returned it the next day I got it. To get call/text notifications on my watch they want to have the gps and wifi on my phone all the time which is absurd. Called the customer care rep and he said unless the fitbit app sync happens you won't get the watch notifications
@@MikeLeitner I'm not sure they updated their software or not. But if you had just googled "does fitbit require wifi to sync" you could have seen it was not just me who experienced this problem.
Wear OS by Google needs much more horsepower like dual core gigahertz CPU and one GB of RAM. Fitbit OS runs on much slower CPU. Fitbit OS is not going away anytime soon.
I don't know, what's the point to have all of these metrics? Why do I need to know the dynamic of my skin temperature and the quantity of breaths/minute while I'm sleeping?
yes, its for people who want to live a long healthy life. information abput your body jelps us out a LOT.... if you dont want any of these features then get a cheaper watch.
I got the 1st Versa when it 1st came out and at 1st the sleep option worked great but after a few months it started not always pick up and now never does. I thought it was because I have such small wrists but then I started hearing more and more people complain

I would love to have this questioned answered. I wish someone could. Thinking of upgrading my Flex 2.
@@Dcrainmaker thanks
Thanks for the great video...not getting that watch
Fitbit sense or Samsung watch 3?
I think I'll go with Apple
Is the versatile able to be used in a pool to track laps?
I just ordered a black Versa 3. Is it as nice as I think people?
First time buying a smart watch. Which do you recommend for tracking and fitness?
Hey what would you recommend, the versa 3 or the garmin venu sq?
Yes, please. I'm very curious about that as well.
Vote for this too!
Garmin Venu for sure... No doubt
@@budim.kamadjaja2778 Agreed. The Garmin Venu but not the Garmin Venu Sq
I got Garmin and regret is soooo much! It super inaccurate, whatever issue you Google it just says “well, yeah, this feature is inaccurate, it is just a rough estimate” it even does not track calories and sleep accurately. Basically, all Garmin does correctly is just steps. Waste of money! Even my oldest 7 year old fitbit was already more accurate in everything.
Top 3 smart watches currently? Also can any do gps instructions well and choose between built in or phone as the gps sensor for motorcycle riding ?
Excellent review
I am looking at upgrading from my amazfit bip it's heart reate detection is all over the place. I like the idea of the one in the sensor in the versa 3, might wait to see if it goes any further on sale here in canada, as of today it is $230 on sale.
So we keep paying even after we buy the watch - metrics ?
Whether Badminton sport is included in the smartwatch?
So which smart watch is the most accurate for measuring heart rate?
I'd like to know this too
All optical HR sensors have limitations, even on the most expensive ones. The get the most accurate HR data while exercising you need to pair with a chest HR monitor. Fitbit still don't allow this (crazy right!) But thankfully Garmin do. 😌
09:54 - the deciding moment for me not to buy it. That, and the problematic sensor readings. Great review, you are a superstar.
I returned it the next day.
Thank you for letting me know about the premium membership...the product is already pricey and they force people to pay for membership?
It's been almost 2 years since this video came out what's changed with the versa 3?
8 months late, it's still not worth a new video, they must not have come through with much of what was promised 😢 Thanks for the review.
Getting more sneaky with the like/subscribe segment, aren't we eh? :-D
Returned it the next day I got it. To get call/text notifications on my watch they want to have the gps and wifi on my phone all the time which is absurd. Called the customer care rep and he said unless the fitbit app sync happens you won't get the watch notifications
That's incorrect, the gps is needed for bluetooth. It's sounding random, but that's how android works. Then the WiFi isn't needed as I just tested
The Apple Watch spo2 fails too
my only question is - can you disable certain futures so the watch is fast? it seems slow to swipe and stuff
I don't know, what's the point to have all of these metrics? Why do I need to know the dynamic of my skin temperature and the quantity of breaths/minute while I'm sleeping?
You watching wrong videos..
yes, its for people who want to live a long healthy life. information abput your body jelps us out a LOT.... if you dont want any of these features then get a cheaper watch.
What is the watch you were wearing?
do we need to keep our phone near us to make it work?
I got the 1st Versa when it 1st came out and at 1st the sleep option worked great but after a few months it started not always pick up and now never does. I thought it was because I have such small wrists but then I started hearing more and more people complain
