Seem to have had better GPS results than another recent review. Thanks for the first impressions!
Yup, we discussed it ;) and could be euro vs US satellites or could just be bad luck. Still though, the first time acquisition wasn’t awesome and the results from the run weren’t ideal. Will have to see how it pans out with updates. Thanks!
DC Rainmaker review?
@@GK-qc5ry yeah exactly. Idk how he got 2 units that were defective back-to-back.
I am really happy for you and your channel man! Glad that you are finally getting recognition you deserve. Long time subscriber here.
Thanks so much for being a long time subscriber! 🙌
I'm a Garmin fanboy but competition is always good. Great video as always. Cheers!
Thanks!
Just purchased charge 5. This will be my first smart tracking device. 51 and trying to accurately manage my health. I've looked at a lot of other devices and your review helped, so thanks
Sure thing! Thanks!
Waiting to get my Fitbit! Great review
Thanks!
Great review, thanks. Love your voice
Great review! I ordered the Charge 5 a few days ago since my Inspire 2 got moisture in it and then died on me. It's supposed to be delivered today, I'm so excited!
do you like it?
@@erenluna5974 I do! I think it was worth getting
outstanding review thank you !
Sure thing! Thanks!
Yes.. Believe the Legend that is Des Seriously Fit...I remembered back in the day with less than 10k subscribers, and you had to buy all your review gear...hope that's changed 👍👍👍 Keep up being THE best
Thanks so much! And thanks for being a long time subscriber! 🙌
Great review, thanks! The GPS seems to be a big issue with this new charge 5, I was looking into buying it. Not so sure now.
Hoping to see full review soon worth comparison to competitors
Great review 👍🏼
Thanks!
I'm ditching my Apple Watch SE to get one of these. I originally had a Fitbit Ionic and while the device was unreliable, I miss the actionable data such as sleep tracking and heart rate zones, as well as the excellent sleep cycle alarm!
Indeed, what I dont like on apple is the visually presentation of the data.
Good review as always. Are the stats that you showed, available on the non- premium app as well?
Excellent thank you
Sure thing
Thank you for the quick review. Would like to see a SG4 to FC5 comparison review of accuracy in the future if you can. Currently using a FC4 and I am looking at one of the two but I do not like the fact that Fitbit makes you pay a monthly subscription for features and I also don't like how long they take to roll out features. The FC4 took forever to get Sp02 and Temp features added.
This is a very late reply, but i would say that the FC5 is more accurate than the SG4, but the SG4 has more smartwatch features. The FC5 does the best at sleep tracking and the hr tracking is so so.
Thanks for this review! Would it be possible to have this tested on someone with heavily inked wrists? I'm hoping it would be able to work, perhaps on small areas of skin where there's no ink?
Hello, good first impressions, as many people have already told you, it is weird about the GPS and heart rate sensor between you and Ray, but I'm surprised the difference in the heart rate sensor seemed much more accurate with Ray.
How was the vibration? Can you put vibration to alert you when you are below or above a heart rate zone?
He can generally get better HR results with WOHR, possibly due to a fairer skin tone. The normal vibrations were strong, felt them easily with the HR alerts for different zones.
I appreciate the review. I’ve always loved the Fitbit series for the longevity of battery life.
My only complaint that I have with Fitbit is that they’ve never got their bands right. Time and time again, the bands are the failure point. They were amazing about doing a replacement a time or two, but the downtime is the biggest annoyance.
We’ll have to see how the band holds up on this one. The band on the Charge 4 I had started to have some play where it attached to the tracker but it never failed on me (or my mom who currently has it).
@@DesFit does it make any sense to switch from mi smartband 6 to this band? aside from a more premium design, what will the user get (except about twice lesser battery life)?
Just curious if you plan to do/complete an in-depth review. Thanks!
Hey Des! Which white watch is the one you are wearing? :)
currently have the charge 2 that i've been using for years now, which doesn't have built in gps and i dont like running with my phone, so the distance tracking is usually tremendously off. planning on upgrading to the charge 5 so the onboard gps will accurately capture my running statistics. Just wish this model had the physical button like the charge 2 has, I know im gonna miss that.
No, the invisible button works fine. GPS on my Charge 4 however is garbage. It only recorded 4K out of each of my last two half marathons. For bike rides longer than three hours it's also not suited because the battery runs out. I am about to switch to Garmin as soon as they release a Forerunner 255.
I am very interested in upgrading to the Charge 5 but I have questions about the Skin Temperature Tracking. How well does it work? Is it available now or it is going to be with the new feature "coming soon?" Also I am really unhappy with the Charge 5 not having a altimeter to track stairs.
Thank you very much for your careful review! I appreciate it. From your experience, what do you recommend Garmin forerunner 55 or Fitbit charge 5? Thanks
For fitness the Forerunner 55 will have a lot more features and functions. Thanks!
Basically a Charge 4 with a coloured Display. Lets see if this thing has the same problems as the version 3 and 4. Currently awaiting my RMA Charge 4.
Hi. Will it accurately record cals from spin bike or stair master?
Will be interesting if you can share how BT connection is with this watch. Thanks for review
That will then depend on the phone’s reception which can be variable, but yes, I’ll be doing some tests with that as well.
hi.is there going to be an in-depth review of this watch?
Question about the GPS,
From the screenshots you show an actual milage of 3.45mi or 5.5Km from an unknown device.
Then a screenshot of the Fitbit showing 3.31mi or 5.3Km, that's a deviation of only 0.14mi or 200m.
Given this watch is probably not geared towards pro runners, would you not think that's reasonable ?
I run marathons on occasions and would personally love it to be more accurate but hate smart or running watches with a million tools build in I could care less for.
With your experience DesFit, would you think this watch is more than capable in tracking 10-21Km training runs a few times a week ?
Thank you for an awesome channel
This looks like a worthy upgrade. I'm still on my Charge 2 which i love. Have you tried any charge 3 or 4 bands (stainless steel bands)? Do they fit or need all new ones?
I still have an Alta hr and charge 2. I bought a Garmin Venu. I love the Garmin echo system.
@@TheShumoby I held off on upgrading because there was nothing wrong with my Charge 2. I never tried the Garmin. I didn't even know they made fitness bands.
Do you have to have the premium subscription in order to use all the sensors on the watch. What does the FREE part of the app give you Vs the Premium subscription? No one says what is free and what isn't. Everyone just says you get more. Can I still use all the sensors without the premium subscription?
Is there a final/in-depth video for the charge 5?
Did Ray compare notes with you? He had a lot to say about the gps and hr issues when tightening the wrist strap.
We chatted about it. I had the strap tight on mine all the time and didn’t have as bad of issues that he did. But still, the tracks on the run weren’t amazing. More testing needed for me to make a final judgement.
@@DesFit I'd very much welcome further investigation on this. I cancelled my purchase plans after reading Ray's review, which indicates a hardware design flaw.
How do you check SPO2?
Can we receive call notifications with caller name appear on screen? Is it free
can you use the same bands as charge 3 for the Charge 5 ?
I found that if I increase the strap tightness to about the limit of what will actually fit on my wrist, I don't get as many spurious heart rate spikes or drops. Ultimately I feel like Fitbit doesn't prioritize fitness/exercise accuracy and features as much as Garmin appears to. I feel like Fitbit's features are increasingly directed at more casual users and general health. Garmin watches are definitely more expensive, but I realized that with the Fitbit Premium subscription I'm pretty much paying the same price with a Fitbit after a few years... I'm probably going to switch over to Garmin after my Charge 5 dies or my Premium membership expires.
Yesterday I bought a Charge 4 becuase I heard it was a better watch.
So many Amazon 1 star reviews keep talking about a mandatory $80 membership for their nee features. Is that true?
Is there a smart watch that measures skipping rope jumps? I have an android phone
Have a charge 5 but can’t activate sleep tracking or score. Any ideas
No full review?
For those who only run is it better to buy a Garmin Forerunner 55 ($ 170) or a Coros Pace 2 ($ 199)?
Perfect
WHat iphone case are you using
bought it and returned in within 5 days .. when I would wear it to bed I would wake up the battery would deplete by 59% leaving me with 25-30 percent through the day..
Mine was charged when i woke it was 11%
Mine is brand new and lost 37% of the battery capacity while I was asleep. Going to see if I can rebuild my Charge 3 myself because it would last 3 days easily.
Fitbit charge doesn't last long(18-24months max)..any suggestions for a better switch tht has better durability?
You're right...do they have software that bricks the watch after a certain time? Hmmmm.....
Does it support football/soccer mode
I think it is quite an oversight not to mention the removal of the altimeter, and thus the floors count. I imagine many upgraders from earlier Charge versions will be surprised and disappointed by this. OTOH, Fitbit is probably happy about you not making note of this.
I love looking at the floor count feature too!
Your friend, DC Rainmaker, acts like it burns his soul to say good things about Fitbit.
The fire runs deep
I said a lot of good things about the Charge 5 (I liked many aspects of it), except, if I can’t get GPS or HR to work, it’s kinda hard for me to recommend it.
@@Dcrainmaker is the 4 better/accurate at doing that?
@@MrGlatorre Yes, it was. I had no issues getting GPS or HR with it, and reasonably accurate on both actually.
Garmin's interface is free soooo unless that changes I'm Garmin only - droid owner. Edge 530 for biking (way more accurate than a wrist watch gps) with watch casting hr to the edge 530. Ride uploads with very accurate info from edge 530 and hr levels for the entire ride for a really accurate summary.
Does anyone know why Garmin cannot do such a “dynamic” gps tracking?
Can you connect polar h10 with fit bit ?
Fitbits don't connect to external HR monitors
Im in love with fitbit C4 & C5 both are adding steps while I’m driving, so I don’t know if this is a factory issue with all devices or only mine
Fitbit is a bit known for being a bit too sensitive with their step algorithm and often times counts steps with stuff like driving.
good but where is the after sale services????? I am in Singapore....
In your opinion do you think it would look/feel bulky on a small wrist?
Likely would look OK considering it's much smaller than a watch
I purchased it the band was super comfy and lightweight almost forgot I had it on at times
which watch are you wearing?
This one: ua-cam.com/video/v5w1FKWHeL0/v-deo.html and this one: ua-cam.com/video/KBi4bbVvUIY/v-deo.html
No one is talking about the unreliable GPS. You have to choose between GPS or Hear Rate. I recommend skipping the HR5.
I did not encounter those issues so it's kind of hard for me to talk about them without experiencing them.
@@DesFit did you test it while using it outdoors? Or did you test them at all?
Did you watch the entire video?
@@DesFit I did, you had one test when it lost GPS signal but you say it was not a problem. I'm waiting for the in depth review to see what results you will get. I'm already leaning away from purchasing it though. Seems to be a lemon to me.
I'm disappointed that they've removed the haptic button, it is way more useful than tapping/swiping the screen, I might not go to the 5 from my 4 due to this, I wish for a colorful screen but the lack of button is a big deal and the other features aren't that important to me
If may not be use to you, but trading a button for ECG isn't that bad. And if the touch screen is improved it isn't the worse.
But with reports of doggy gps might be good to wait
@@jameelhill9503 there is also the lack of Spotify control, I use this feature a lot, usually when at home I don’t carry my phone around while listening to music, it is a small feature but a useful one
Your blood oxygen level is 94%. It shouldn't be that low. Is that a glitchy watch, or did you have covid or something when recording this?
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a medical grade SPO2 sensor
