My friend has the same unit in his bedroom with a China Pride fan motor and a GMCC compressor. His house has a humidity issue also and when it runs it slashes water around in the evaporator coil and if its crazy humid it will mist out water through the vents and then the water will over flow the drain pan and drip outside.

Mine stopped cooling well after couple years of light use..cleaned it up...but still not much cooling...the compressor kicks in but not hard anymore...
About 2 yrs ago I found a Frigidaire ac that has a bad motor bearing so I replaced that with on I found off of EBay for I think $30. So I offered to put it in the living room instead of my computer room. Still works perfectly 2 years later. Just a few months ago I found a cheaper I’m assuming late 90’s early 2000’s Haier ac that only needed a power switch so I replaced it and keep it in the on position so I can control from my iPhone through a smart outlet I got off of Amazon. So now I have an ac for my computer room and mom has one for her living room👍
I just bought one Walmart, For what I paid, and to cool down a small room (even if its for one season) I will be happy, You what you pay for!!! But this little Arctic King giving me a tad more, What do you expect for $130.00 central air??
james mattice for the money this units pretty good. If you drill a hole in the bottom for water to drip out and clean it every year it works just fine. I got the same one and I run it pretty much 24/7 during the summer months. I got mine on sale at Walmart during fall for 100 bucks. So for 100 dollars it’s lasted me two years.
As much as I don't care for rotary compressors, this one actually sounds pretty decent. We all know this will inevitably leak with it's thin coils and the insane pressures of R410A. Either that, or the compressor will fail. The modern units seem to work while they work, but they fail way too quickly. I'm sure this would cool a lot better if it had R22 in it.
I agree, this sounds surprisingly nice for something modern and rotary. It works for now, and it works relatively well too, but unfortunately it probably won't last for long.
I got mine less than three months ago and it just started making a very loud buzzing noise when it's set on cool and won't throw any cold air. It'll be quiet when it's set on fan only.

R22 is the best refrigerant, imo. Of course R12 too but thats of you happen to find a very old unit that still has its charge. R32 just dosen't get very cold and R410A isn't awful but isn't nearly as good as good ol 22 was. I had a 2006 Haier 5200 BTU with R22, and for a modern unit that thing would run mw out of my bedroom, and that was with it installed on the hot part of our old trailer that got the most sun. Lasted up until 2017 when it started to die and that was only because my dad never took it apart and cleaned it each year and the coils got gummed up in it and because the cabinet screws were rusted in place, I couldn't disassemble it to try and save it. Going to try and find another because that was the best modern unit I've ever used. And back then they used to sell them for only $88 at Walmart!
Brayden D I actually agree. I like R-410A almost as much as I like R-22, because it blows almost as cold and it’s better for the environment. R-32 also gets cold, but the concept of R-32 is really dumb, and it is a flammable refrigerant, so if it falls out of the window, the unit will explode. My GE 5000 BTU has R-32, I would have never gotten an R-32 machine ever, except I thought that it would have R-410A.
I own this particular unit. The area I live in is very humid is water had a problem collecting in it to the point where it leaked. When cleaning it out. I take the outer casing off when I do. I drilled a hole in the bottom plate for the water to drip out. Aside from that, the thing works fine. At low in a smallish room, it'll keep it at 68 degrees. The size ratings are very much to be taken with a grain of salt. They are a very vague idea at best. There are so many different factors that dictate how much cooling power is needed to regular an area's climate.
@@ArisBuliteanu It's impossible to make an accurate assessment just based on the size of the area. To make a generalization to start with, assuming an 8 foot ceiling, I'd say double the square footage number to get the quantity of BTUs you need. In your case, 550sqft*2=11,000 BTUs, which falls in between the standard sizes of 10,000 BTUs and 12,000 BTUs. More cooling capacity would be needed if you are cooling an area with high heat gain such as a poorly insulated upper level of a house, a room with a lot of south-facing windows, or heat sources like a stove or refrigerator, etc. Less cooling capacity is needed if you have a well insulated home, are cooling an area on a lower floor, or on the north side of the building, etc. It also depends on how cold you want the area to become. The more economical approach would be to get a smaller unit, perhaps an 8,000BTU. Run it at 75-80 degrees, it will remove a lot of humidity and in conjunction with a fan running, many people will be comfortable. If you want it dropped into the 60s, then you're going to need the 12,000 or higher.
I have a GE AJCQ series built in through the wall air conditioner, it’s an 11,800 BTUs, but I have a 600 square-foot apartment and I have a 200 square-foot living room area! But it goes well
I have this ac unit but it recently started making super loud noises and won’t work when I turn it on cool. But the fan works. I’ve cleaned the filter. Do you know if there’s anything I can do to fix it?
This thermostat is out of adjustment. These cheap air conditioners have a bi-metallic switch that loses it's temper after manufacture. Eventually, it will no longer think it's warm enough to kick the compressor. This thermostat is easily adjustable. I have been picking these A/C units up on the side of the road, adjusting the thermostat and giving them to folks who need an A/C. I'll try my hand at making a video on how to adjust the thermostat for you.
I know how to adjust the thermostats on the old machines, when I took this one apart I didn't see the adjustment screw. If there's something I'm missing, I'd definitely be interested to know. I ended up giving this unit to my grandfather and it's been working fine for him, the coldest setting seems to be around 72 degrees which is colder than he wants anyways.
I just got this exact model for 60$ brand new. Would you say I made a mistake? It seems to cool my room down well but I will defiantly try the card board trick to see if that speeds up how fast it cools down my room
$60 new is quite a bit below retail. Put the piece of cardboard in the register and drill a hole in the bottom on the outside to let the water drain out and it should last a while.
Have had mine for a year and it's now blowing warm air and I'll shut it down for a few minutes and turn it back on and itll blow cold for 5 minutes and then itll go back to blowing warm to hot air. Any ideas?

I have made a discovery about these: they are actually likely made by Electrolux and not midea. Electrolux seems good, better than midea actually. I’d say these are respectable units, could be better but are nice looking and blow cold air. It’s also good that most use manual controls
They're OK for free. I would not pay anywhere near the retail price for one of these. It does seem to cool satisfactorily, but I doubt it will last more than a few years and there are some major design flaws such as the register not angling away from the evaporator's intake.
I did find this video helpful but the only thing I disagree with is that the reason for it going down like that it’s to recycle the air and it’s not a fan it’s not made to blow air it’s to make it cooler more like a small room
The output air should be pushed away from the unit and into the room, not down into the path of where the air is drawn in. Air directly drafting back into the evaporator is incorrect, it's the result of cheap manufacturing and sleazy engineering, items notoriously present within these modern products made in China. No proper AC unit of the past would have such a ridiculous design flaw.
You could easily modify this. Like, make some sort of cover or shroud for the intake on the bottom and the exhaust on the top. It's just sad the Arctic King is more like the Artic Peasant. Because of its poor design and how cheap its made.
Arctic kings aren’t bad. Them, along with the other units made by that manufacturer work well for the most part. They’re better than the LG 5,000 btu units

But it goes well
I really enjoy your air conditioner videos can you make more?
Thanks, in the future there will be. I don’t have the storage capacity for a lot of air conditioners right now.
Jordan U ok, thank you
I have this ac unit but it recently started making super loud noises and won’t work when I turn it on cool. But the fan works. I’ve cleaned the filter. Do you know if there’s anything I can do to fix it?
Without having the unit in front of me, I don't know.
Where do you buy the filter for this unit
I don't believe replacement filters are sold.
Awesome sound on the compressor and i like the super long spin down time on the fan .. i enjoyed the video bro
Thanks glad you enjoyed it.
I have the exact same AC, but I can't take off the front screen thing, it's stuck, if you have any tips to remove it, i'd love to hear them
Did you get all the screws out?
Put the piece of cardboard in the register and drill a hole in the bottom on the outside to let the water drain out and it should last a while.
i have this in my bedroom and it just started making a loud buzzing noise idk what to do 😭
Does it still run?
Jordan U yeah but now it’s getting replaced so we don’t know what’s wrong with it
Same and mine won’t let me turn up the temperature without making that loud noise
Charlotte Williams yeah mine was new i think it’s just horrible quality, you might have to replace it
@@trinitygabrielle It's cheap made in China, quality control cannot be expected unfortunately.
I think I know one way to make it last longer, either drill hole, or remove drain plug.
That's true, I always do that.
@@JordanU
If you seen my GE window air conditioner, I took the plug off as soon as I knew I needed to make it last longer.
i should probably do that with my modern frigidaire
@@MinecraftPro97k Removal of the plug isn't good enough, it will still allow a fair bit of water to pool in the bottom.
I must have gotten a good one because I put it I'm my spare bedroom and it cools off that room and 2 others keeping them at 75°
It actually looks like the side things I can’t recall what there called but it’s backwards
They were installed incorrectly.
Have had mine for a year and it's now blowing warm air and I'll shut it down for a few minutes and turn it back on and itll blow cold for 5 minutes and then itll go back to blowing warm to hot air. Any ideas?
Do you hear the compressor cut out when it starts to blow warm again?
@@JordanU yes i sure do
@@JordanU currently it's in my bathtub drying out lol it was pretty dirty so I sprayed it all out and cleared all the blocked airways. Hoping it helps. If not I'll probably just buy another
@@JordanU it never gets too cold but when it's hot hot it keeps my apartment "very tiny" at 70
@@atmosphere1962 Make sure the thermostat probe which is the wire that goes in front of the evaporator coil inside is not close to the coil. If it's too close, it will read the cold temperature of the coil rather than the temperature of the air going in and cause the exact behavior you described.
Ah yes, Speed Queen's husband.
Does it want to go out on a date?
No, that would be cheating!
@@Xyspade O no!
you could get a dehumidifier that takes moisture out of the air
Do you think I don't know that?
where does the water drop?
By design, it doesn't come out anywhere, it pools near the condenser. Most of it will evaporate, if there is excess, it will splash out the sides.
Jordan: So glad to have found your videos. I bought mine from a guy on FB Marketplace. It works well enough for my needs. I have a storage she’d where I keep/work on my motorcycle. Anyway, hope you can help with this. When I run this on either low or high cool, there is cold water dripping from the front.😁 Do you have an idea as to what’s causing that and what can be done to correct it? Thanks
Is the outside portion of the machine full of water? Unit must be level to not leak indoors, and I like to drill a hole in the pan on the outside to let the water out.
Thank you for your rereply. In fact, I drilled two holes in the bottom to allow drainage. At first, it worked great but now-not so much.
@@johnmiddleton726 Did the holes clog? Is the unit level?
Jordan:Really appreciate your quick response. I did check the holes I drilled to see if they were clogged and they weren’t . I have not checked if the unit is level-that’s tomorrow.
It actually needs to be pitched back. The. Your fan will pick up the water and splash it onto the evaporator coil‘s to cool them down.
I have one of these, but digital controls and manufactured 3-2017!
I do not like digital controls.
What gaz number take this model please? 🙏🏻
I own one and it all off a sudden. Won't blow air. It sounds like it turns on but no air comes out what can it be?
Have you found a solution yet ?
The capacitor probably spoiled.
How wide is it? My window is 15.5 inches. Thanks
I'm not sure, I don't have the unit in my possession at the moment. A retailer's website probably will list the dimensions.
its exactly 16 inches wide I own this exact model
@@Robin_Games Thanks for letting them know.
Cómo le ago para ponerlo en modo calefacción en tiempo de frio
Mines is making a buzzing noise and won't cool what yu think i can do bud?
Does the fan move?
get a new one
Own one of these, it would work wonders in cooling my room (have a small room) but now it doesn’t cool, the fan works but the air is hot
Does the compressor still run?
How long have u had it?
@@JordanU you may be saying that if the compressor was running, then it’s likely that it’s low on charge
@@ArisBuliteanu Not necessarily.
I got a 15000 btu arctic king and would not recommend it to anyone. It’s super loud. Keeping hoping it would stop working so I can throw it out.
This one is rather loud compared to the older units.
I’ve got the same one in my bedroom.
Ok
Thanks for letting me know.
Jordan U parents have a Koldfront in their room 10,000 BTU
5000 BTU is for 100 to 150 square feet from your size you probably need like an 8,000 or something
5,000 can easily cool 300-400 square feet depending on the heat gain of the room.
@@JordanU no way bro that's pushing it dude I've watched tons of videos dude it's 100 to 150 ft for a 5000 BTU or 6,000 b TU for 150 to 200-250 square feet
@@JordanU there's no way that a 5000 BT you can call 300 to 400 ft now if you got a badass air conditioner maybe but most of these budget ones that will hard enough time just cooling a room but they're good enough just for a small bedroom
@@JordanU that's why there's a rating on the box and stuff it tells you exactly how much it cools you know 10 by 15 15x20 so on and so forth
@@JordanU and there's a reason why there's a set limit on them yeah it'll probably put it in the window and use it to cool the living room I'm sure but the thing is the cause of the air conditioner will have to work harder because it's trying to cool a bigger capacity than what it's actually capable of doing cuz I know people don't really follow the rules and I've seen them like oh my whole living room and listen here but there's some of these budgets and have a hard time just trying to get a stupid air conditioner cuz I bought two duds off of Facebook marketplace so when I was like you know what I'm going to educate myself and find out what size I need what's going on with this air conditioning unit why this other one doesn't work what can cause it not to work so but I mean you all right though it it could pull a little bit bigger area but it's not meant to cool that area so therefore it shortens the lifespan of your air conditioner

where is the serial number on ARCTIC KING > WWK05CMO1N / I CANNOT FIND SERIAL NUMBER ?.
On the informations tag on the side.
i saw this brand at walmart they're probably cheaply made
It is cheaply made.
I bought one like an idiot. Failed in 2 months.
@@jfkesq By no means am I an advocate for cheap Chinese made appliances, but this one has certainly lasted longer than 2 months.
They threw it away because of the sound and I’m about to do the same PLEASE HELP!!!
What sound?
@@JordanU the compressor I can’t keep it running on high cool or it’ll go off every 1-10 mins
@@zachlopez1929 Perhaps the thermometer is too close to the coil.
Can I add Freon my AC is not cool
I have no idea whether or not you are capable of adding refrigerant to an AC unit.
Mine makes that nose and I can’t fix it
I don't know what you're talking about.
Got One Of These And It Make Loud Noises Everytime the temperature goes pass 5 🙄 waste of money
You can't expect much in terms of quality control at this price point.
You could easily modify this. Like, make some sort of cover or shroud for the intake on the bottom and the exhaust on the top. It's just sad the Arctic King is more like the Artic Peasant. Because of its poor design and how cheap its made.
When I have quality vintage units I can use, I can't be bothered to do any more with this than jam the piece of cardboard in the register.
He always says arctic queen instead of arctic king lol
Who?
I like it
OK
The problem is that it's an arctic king...
🧢
That doesn't make sense.
@@JordanU It's not supposed to. Arctic Kings are known bad units to begin with.
Arctic kings aren’t bad. Them, along with the other units made by that manufacturer work well for the most part. They’re better than the LG 5,000 btu units
@@fanshvacandmore14 I've had some more experience with these recently and I do take back the original comment. They're not bad, they just aren't anything special. Just plain and average, which is fine. Still would prefer something else though.
