What beautiful and rugged country. Don't think I would want to be up there in snow season. Your trail pack is growing. What a nice addition. Glad to you got to do the pass. Take care, Al

Wow Travis what a stunning hike! Breathtaking scenery filmed perfectly by yourself, the colours of the bushes and trees, the pine clad mountains, how lucky you are to be able to walk in such beauty. Just about to watch it again!!! Thank you!!

Outstanding colors on this trip. What a campsite the first night. And the views from the pass were incredible too. Sarah is smart to keep the hound dog on a leash. In Tennessee bear hunting with dogs is allowed and you'd be surprised how many hounds dogs I run into that are separated from hunters this time of year. Of course the dogs have radio collars and the owners are tracking them. At a price of about $4,000, even some as high as $10,000, it may take a day or two, but the owners will eventually catch them.

I know they can very expensive. We did spook something big on our way out. Did get to see it, but it was big. I'm guessing it was a moose. But we got to hear Boone start howling!

    Rules of packing.
    1) Make sure your matches are kept dry.
    2) Never let someone else pack your whiskey!

Upper Geiger lake was my first backpack over night camp out. That was 1966. We saw a moose at lower Geiger. Great memories.

We're getting quite the pack! Blitz (in case you were wondering) is full blooded Alaskan Malamute and quite large! Sara has managed to get Boone in shape and put some weight on him. Last time I talked to Sara, he was doing well.

I took my partner on her first backpacking trip to Geiger Lake back in July. Went up to the upper lake, but it was pretty snowed in, so we headed back down to the lower lake. After listening to the loons for a while, we settled in, then the storm moved in. I've never experienced lightning like that and never want to again! Loved the views though!

Noticed where you put up your tarp. I was just up there and didn’t bother trying to fit my 12’ tarp in that spot, so hung my hammock between the two trees by the fire ring without a tarp. The next morning I walked down to the other end of the lake and it looks like that spot in the trees could accommodate a couple hammock tarps. Hiked up Swamp Creek in the triple digit weather. Was pretty brutal, but fun. Had it all to myself for about 15 minutes before a trail maintenance crew of 6 came down from the ridge trail up above. They were pretty good company.

Really enjoyed this one. The shots you took around Lost Buck Pass, amazing. Especially the one with Jess and his faithful companion checking out the views. Heading over to Hyoh-Wu right now to check out HIS interpretation of the trip.

For me - getting down in to Swamp Creek was a long haul, but it was long because the grade of the trail was very mellow. So not too hard on the knees.
