One of the things I love about the book is not only do they have really wonderful and interesting recipes, but the flavour text atop actually does have text of Gyohan and Mogria meeting different characters through the story. And as someone who has finished the main story line, it made me so happy to know that main story characters and job characters even pop up in the story. Cant wait to try cooking some with my own book soon!
I see what you mean about the flavour text. For me, I don't think I got much out of it since I'm still fairly new to the game but I'll re-read it later once I have a better understanding of the lore. Good luck on your dishes!
One thing i got to say is that due to how the lore and especially with how food lore works in the game, the book looks like it actually handles it well, it doesn't try to make anything, just build on what's already in game like the coffee biscuits reference, plus the namazu and moogles are the crafting beast tribes for the 1st two expansions, and personally namazu best beast tribe Its better for in the know references rather than world building, which considering how tight the team keeps even little details of story makes, I really appreciate

I really liked how you switched your content up a bit, always talking and explaining what you're doing while preparing the food. I much prefer this over the cooking segments from some of the older videos with only music.
I'd LOVE to see you do breakfast, dessert, and maybe even snacks from this cookbook if it has them. Also, good on this cookbook for giving instructions on perfect duck. I feel like nothing is more disappointing than tough and dry poultry. That glaze sounds like it'd be awesome on not just duck, but also turkey and chicken.
I agree, the glaze is pretty awesome and I would definitely try it on chicken next time. The breakfast and appetizer sections in this cookbook are the most interesting to me so I might make something from those in future videos :)

I'm glad you got it because it's a pretty cool cookbook! Thanks again for watching and if you have any more suggestions please send them my way in the comments at any time :)
We tried the Cawl Cennin, which was a potato leek soup. The addition of the lemon juice really changed the flavor profile of the dish, it was tasty. We also made the sweet cornbread, which was also good for breakfast the next morning. I want to try the crab croquettes and Steppe salad next. The little flavor text at the top of each dish was fun to read.
Glad to hear the book is good! I used your previous videos reviewing this author's game recipe books before picking this book up. Looking forward to actually making Warmwine, another batch of Coffee Biscuits, espresso con panna, and Royal Eggs on Endwalker day.
7:32 As a Vietnamese WoL I love all the VN references FF14 has, like Ao Dai glamour set, Banh Xeo and the fact that the Nagxian people also use stealth tactics to fight off the Garleans, much like us Vietnamese when we fought the French and American. Yeah I was surprised by the amount of food items in FF14 and almost all of them are based on real dishes. I think this cookbook does a good job of translating them into workable recipes and it's a good guide to make different things when you're just starting off to cook.
@@MisoHungrie There is a very particular culinarian quest where you're meant to cook a dessert that's not "too heavy and not too sweet". Welcome to Eorzea!! o/ Just a long-time player topping by to say I hope you enjoy the journey, and that I really enjoyed your coverage of the cookbook! As you head deeper into the game, I highly recommend re-visiting the little bits of Lore at the start of each recipe. They actually make all sorts of fun references to people and things in-game that'll make more sense the farther in you are. (My personal favorite is the intro for hot chocolate. Whenever you get access to the Firmament in the game, check out the item description for each grade of Rock Salt, it's hilarious!)
That's awesome advice, thanks! Yeah, since I just started playing I think a lot of the references went over my head but I think you're right, I'll definitely have more of an appreciation once I'm more immersed in the world.
I can recommend the cookbook! Honestly, I think a fan who cooks will probably enjoy it more than a random person who doesn't play the game, but there are still some great recipes in there that people can enjoy regardless (depending on your taste, of course). My favorite recipe so far is the Honey Muffins; the cardamom in the crumble on top really makes it delicious. The Sesame Cookies are probably my next favorite; they're really unique, in that they don't particularly look or smell good, but the taste is like an earthy butter cookie, that strangely enough changes the more you chew it, in a good way. I also made the Orobon Stew; this one was more complex (for me), and somehow I ended up with like twice as many dumplings as I needed. But it was quite tasty, with some adjustments; it's basically a chicken noodle soup with a slightly different taste profile due to the herbs and spices (and with dumplings instead of noodles).
Thanks for sharing Ryan! I also really wanna try the Orobon Stew. And the way you described the Sesame Cookies sound awesome, I'm gonna have to try that as well

Where did you get those potion bottles? I love them!
I was already interested in that cook book, but now I know I have to buy it
Nice! I think you're gonna like it
I used worcestershire sauce & balsamic vinegar marinated mushrooms before and that already tastes good with onions/garlic on the grill so lavander might not hurt that, but might not be worth the effort to find it and add it
Balsamic and worcestershire sauce mushrooms is great! That and garlic butter are my two favorite ways to eat mushrooms
YO YOUR CHARACTER LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE YOU???
Lol thanks! I always try to make my created characters look as much like me as possible - I'm boring like that xD
This is a great video, and I hope you’re enjoying your time in Eorzea!
Try the Farmer’s Breakfast, it’s so damn good. Have a sub!
The Farmer's Breakfast as well as all the other breakfast recipes in this cookbook look soo good. Definitely gonna have to try them in the future
My boyfriend got me this Alien cookbook and it’s a very interesting one indeed! Look into that when you can! Love the content!
Alien like xenomorph Alien? If so, that sounds wild! I definitely have to check that out lol
@@MisoHungrie xenomorph Alien very very gross and cool
A final fantasy XV cookbook would be so awesome. That games got awesome food.
I agree! Some of the best food models I've ever seen in a video game
@@MisoHungrie yea man! Or a red dead 2 cookbook would be sick as well.
Sir you got fluffies at your door steps drooling at your food along with Au ra and a munchkin lalafell.
How to bake potatoes
Lalafells: IT'S A COOKBOOK!
I got the Gamestop edition and I love it, can't wait to try some recipes like the potions, they look good
Interesting, I didn't even know there was a Gamestop edition. I wonder what the difference is. Hope you enjoy cooking the recipes!
@@MisoHungrie The only difference is that if you bought the book from Gamestop, you will get the book with a different cover picture, it has the Cheff Paisa minion surrounded with the ingame food icons that look like stickers.
Oh man, please do more recipes from it.
Thanks for reminding me it exists just now, checked Indigo and found a 30% Discount off all cookbooks until Nov 30 including the FFXIV cookbook! Can't wait to make coffee biscuits!
That's an awesome deal. Would also make for a great gift!
@@MisoHungrie And now I also purchased the two WoW cookbooks. I blame you for this. 🙂
Great game, great food, great channel!
Now I really want a copy. I usually don't have high expectations of this type of merchandise, but it looks good (High Quality one might say) both for the fan service and as a cookbook.
I agree, it does excel on both of those imo. I think you're gonna like it and good luck on your dishes if you decide to get it 👍
Wow those skewers look really good! That ducks looks juicy and delicious too. Definitely buying this. Thanks for the video! :D
Thank you for watching! Enjoy the cookbook
Damn after my comment I didn't expect to see the FFXIV cook book so soon :D
I definitely overestimated how long it was gonna take lol
Now we just need the recipe for Night Milk. ;)
That farmer's breakfast is goddamn transcendent.
You’ve earned a sub
Thanks for subbing Lukas!
Next time you cook a whole bird you might want to try the method called "spatchcock". It may not be authentic, but the results... Mmmmm!
I've had butterflied chicken before but not duck but I'm sure it would work too. I didn't realized "spatchcock" was the term for it until I googled it after reading your comment. Thanks for teaching me something today :)
The ishgardian tea is suuuuuper good, same with the coffee biscuits
Nice! Maybe I'll try that next time
I’d love to see Leblanc curry and coffee from Persona 5!
That's a great idea! I love me some Persona 5 so it would be cool to do some content from that game
That duck looked delicious, kinda makes me think of a French recipe.
Thanks! The first time I saw it, it reminded me of Duck a l'Orange which might be the French recipe you're thinking of
