TIP for Tonkatsu sauce! Its legit 2 1/2 TBSP worcestershire sauce, 1 TBSP ketchup, 1 1/2 tsp Oyster Sauce, and 1 1/8 tsp of sugar ! You can get fancy by adding in garlic and ginger. I prefer making my own personally because the only Tonkatsu sauce locally to me is only one brand and its super sweet and not as great as home made. 5:19 - I wonder what crumbled faster, the actual crumble or my man's confidence in himself as he made the muffins? 12:10 - As an Asian person I can confirm that that's not much rice at all. I could easily eat triple that amount of rice in a single meal. 16:17 - The omurice might be overstuffed, but not as stuffed as your shirt trying to contain all of that beefcake ;) 33:23 - God that looks amazing. Give me a bowl of rice and some sliced cucumber and I will devour all of that within 10 minutes. I'd say of those 3 recipes easily the pork recipe was my favorite. It's very similar to a Vietnamese comfort food called thit kho and I love that, so I imagine I would absolutely go to town on that braised pork.
I really appreciate you still showing some of the slight mess ups, I always screw up so many recipes by minor things and it throws my cooking mood out of whack. These look amazing though!
I make the omurice all the time (with regular milk and eggs) that sauce is amazing! I typically add in some oyster and/or fish sauce to make it a bit saltier but it's really great. My husband always gets excited when we have leftover rice because that's typically what I'm making.
Anytime I get to watch you cook it gives me ideas, tips, tricks and inspiration. This is the foodie channel I never knew I needed till I ran across you.
@@CHEFPKR my current goal is to do the spicy chicken sandwich you made for Bakugou. That one in particular looked amazing and let's be honest spicy chicken is awesome.

I own the cookbook and its a treasure! I'm so glad you tried making some noms from the book. Also, watching this while queueing in helps my hunger for making my Culinarian one of my favorite job classes.

Hopefully, I get a subscription and can get to level 80, get Ninja and Samurai for the otaku I am, and maybe Dark Knight for that Tank role (maybe Sage to round out and get a healer class, too). Also, I'm a sucker for pork
I received my copy of the book recently but didn't have the time to actually make something out of it. You making some of the dishes gave me super motivation and i will probably tacke the Dodo Omelette and a Potion soon too! For those who want to make bigger portions of the lavender syrup: 1:2 or 1:1 ratios go bad rather quickly. So if you want to make more and make it shelf-stable, use twice as much sugar than you use water (rich simple syrup) and just add about twice to even thrice as much lavender as well, depending on your flavour, to still get to that taste. But be careful. You'll have to adjust the amounts of your syrup in your recipe.
Been a Player of xiv since 2.X and ice always loved the idea of eating the foods I often see in game. The pork looks great and would like to try one day. Ginger cookies in game would be great too.
thank you for not editing out the first dodo omlet issues, helps aspiring chefs to know even professionals have trouble sometimes and it doesn't have to be perfect every time. ^_^
My mouth be watering every time I look at your videos!! I just got addicted yesterday watching you cook different varieties of food from different video games or anime. Making me wish I could make it myself...
All Clad hard anodized nonstick fry pans. I use bot their nonstick and their stainless and they're both excellent (and flat). The 10 inch fry pan especially has made a LOT of omelettes and they come out beautifully, and the nonstick makes them super easy to clean up.
A good tip for when you braise pork belly like that after you cut it into sections tie butchers twine over each one and it helps them to keep together and not fall apart.
Love the video and the recipes~! Disappointed by the bartending, though. I would recommend getting a "Japanese Style" jigger (the little double-sided cup thing used for measuring the liquor), as you look nervous to pour up to a meniscus formed at the brim of the jigger itself. The Japanese style has interior lines that measure the 1 oz. and .5 oz (respectively per side) volumes, so it's much easier to work with if you're nervous about spilling. I would also shy away from any of those "2-1 combo" shakers like the one you have - they just never, ever work as advertised in my opinion. A set of shaker tins and a strainer go for like $10 online and it's way more universally useful.
That food looked so freaking amazing. I hope I win a copy of that book so I can try out a lot of those amazing recipes. Also Chef PK, your plating made those pictures in the book come to life. Bravo!
Ohh the honey muffins are my ff14 character's favourite food haha. They always have a good stack of them in their inventory. Was great to see how they are done and knowing they are as delicious as they sound!

One thing you can try doing, if you do the omelet again, is do Francis' method from Cooking with Dog. (You should follow them: the person doing the cooking is this Japanese old lady, with her gray toy poodle, Francis; they're both super cute and she did an omurice recipe similar to this.) His method is to use your hands to shape the omelet rice with a paper towel.
You really are inspirational chef. You had a goal and you have pursed it. You improved your body. You improved your business. You improved your skills. Much respect. I was wondering if there is any anime challah breads. I love egg breads during winter. Keep it up! I'm really happy for you!
No such thing as too much rice in omu rice if you learn to tap the pan and roll the omelette in it/then lay it over the dish itself, especially great if you undercook the egg juuuuust enough that you can cut it open and it unfolds with the heat of the rice helping to cook the last stretch. If you still struggle with that method, I think Champ's Kitchen did a rather good tutorial for it.
idk whether the book said to do the omu rice that way but I have never seen it assembled like that before - it's always rice on the plate, a thick folded egg on top, which you cut and it opens over the rice on the plate. Doing it in the pan might be what caused it to overcook, idk if that's the book's instructions but maybe a tip for next time!
The egg portion of omurice takes a lot of practice to perfect. He definitely would benefit from watching a video on it and having a smaller pan with a gas stove.

You gotta pour to the top of the jigger for a full 2oz and when shaking a cocktail you want to shake the life out of it using 'long, hard strokes' I find using a pair of boston tins makes it much easier as opposed to the pineapple shaker you have. Having just left my bartending job when you were asking why your Hyper Potion was so green, it was because you put 2x the maple syrup.
