I have loved reading all your wonderful and kind comments! Thank you 😊. Here is some of the information that has been requested. Cutter Backyard Bug Control is what I use for the mosquitoes. Watering is done by hand and in ground irrigation. The paint colors are all Sherwin Williams. The blue is Regatta SW6517, the red is Farmhouse Red SW2301 (no longer in the current color deck), and the white is Biscuit SW6112. At 24:00 Roger talks about variation in plant textures. Along with the Hosta is Yew and Nandina. At 33:00 the plant in the nursery container is Butterfly Pea (Clitoria ternatea), behind it is Catmint, and to the left is Spiderwort. At 48:48 we discuss false ginger. It’s Chinese Wild Ginger (Asarum splendens).
Absolutely my kind of guy, eclectic, putting into his landscape plants and things he loves. The garden looks “attended to,” not manicured but cared for with love.
Good point! I know what you mean about manicured. I’ve been on many garden tours and have had a few myself and as soon as I see those clean edges from a landscaper, tons of trimmed shrubbery, truck loads of mulch, I immediately think landscape not garden. I find this in a lot of upscale subdivisions, not that they are not nice, but the gardens are in the smaller city lots. Less space, more creativity, more cozy intimate feel.
@@nancyparmelee4161 I think it's rather like the furnishings in a model home. Nice, attractive, stylish, but no real heart or soul. All for show. This garden appears used and enjoyed and loved.
John has such talent and good taste. I so enjoy his tours. I rank his holiday home tour as one of my favorites along with yours Linda! I love what John said about connecting the outside of your house to the inside of your house. What a great tip! I have been doing that for years and didn’t realize it until I heard John say it. I hope you collaborate with John in 2022. ❤️
You have such a great way of making compliments and making others feel really good about their spaces and what they’ve created. This was so inspirational.
Recently read an article about the Top 10 jobs / careers to avoid as “dying” from being needed -> the Mailman. I was like No!!! I make it my business to meet my mailman (person) and thank them for all they do. Hardworking, conscientious.
I can’t find anything I don’t like! I love that he saves everything and reuses it somewhere else. I inherited a rock collection and have added them to all of my pots and continue to enjoy them. Thank you Roger for those awesome sunflowers! Bravo!
Loved this garden tour! The owner is not a minimalist and his personality and love for collecting beautiful things and plants show! Each room was interesting and lush! The seating areas were my favorites! This homeowner does his own gardening, entertains often and he’s given us so many great tips on how to bring the inside outside! His use of blue ties everything together! I will be rewatching this tour. There was so much to see!
What a stunning garden!!! I quite honestly cannot remember when I've been so happily, genuinely inspired. The collection of loved pieces and found objects so masterfully placed throughout the lush plantings is testament to the design saying: Collect what you love and somehow it will all work together. I can't thank you enough, Ms. Linda, for taking us on this lovely tour. Simply stunning!!!
Such a great garden tour, I would love an in-door house tour next. He has interesting collections. Thank you to all! Thank you John for sharing your private spaces.
Linda, this is the 3rd time I have watched this tour, what an amazing space!! Enjoyed every turn! Thank you John for allowing us into the beautiful space that you have created. So well done.
A wonderful tour! So many take-aways and ideas that can be easily applied, with many being very affordable. My favorite is the "bottle bouquet" which is a "two-for" -- you get to enjoy the content inside the bottle and when it's done, it beautifies the garden. Now, off to create some bouquets for my garden!
Just watched for the "I don't know how many times" and loved it like the first time! John you need to start your own UA-cam channel especially now since Linda has moved into her Fairytale Cottage!!
That was fantastic! I find it so interesting to see other people's gardens because even if it's not necessarily your style, you can definitely pull something from it that can inspire you in your own garden. I loved the driveway side with the pots at the entries to the house...such great colored pots and blue flowers. It was so generous of him to allow the tour...and yes, an inside tour of the house would be fabulous! I do feel that you should connect the inside and outside of your house. It would be odd to have a very modern garden and come into traditional decor. I have a 1934 colonial and I've been creating cottage type gardens that I feel go very well with the aesthetic of the house. Lots of hydrangeas, hostas, cone flowers, black eyed susans, dahlias, along with planted hanging baskets and urns with ferns. I enjoy some structure with some free-form.
John- thank you for showing us your beautiful yard. I think it’s the composition of everything that makes it so outstanding. For example, I see your arrangement of pots by your front door and it’s amazing. You probably think this is so easy to do, but believe me, I find it almost impossible to attain. Just gorgeous. Thank you again.
One of my favorite sayings, "Isn't nature wonderful." Love the screen & glazed blue pots scattered & the stars. I love rocks in the garden. Lots of textures. We love you Linda. And Stewart. 💕
Oh my goodness! So many things to love. The area under the back shade is so personal which makes it even more lovely😀. Also love the 2 metal chairs with an oriental vibe. The front brick wall is very unique.Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Absolutely love this garden and John’s house is just something else. I’ve watched the tour of his house several times and find inspiration each time. I’m now into blue pots. Thank you Linda and John I’ve enjoyed every minute.
This tour was balm for the soul today. How fabulous - very pulled together gardens and I agree inside and outside spaces should connect and flow. Like going room to room inside - nice to have a flow. His blue is my blue - now I am more inspired than ever to find and collect even more. I too use a lot of rusted metals throughout. The colors of this home are both soothing and nostalgic. Totally inspired! Thanks to John and Roger - and to LV and Stewart of course.
Linda I love to garden and I love your channel most of the time I come here to see what you are wearing....I would vote you the most Fashion Easter Gardener...love you for being so pleasant, fashionable and inspirational. You give me some peace in my world, so thank you!
That's my kind of garden, not real fussy, lots of texture, a strong mix of different plants. I'm loving the variegated privet display. I'm definitely going to apply that to my side yard. Thank you for sharing!
Hello, I watched you today for the very first time, I loved this video as yu walked around this entire Garden, at the end , I had to stop and take in a breath of air, seriously captivating, thank you all for sharing, each and every little vignette, absolutely loved it.
What a charming home and garden! I never knew OKC has such beautiful historic neighborhoods! It also looks like in addition to there being a mix of architectural styles, there are also homes of different sizes! In my area, most of the solidly built masonry or stucco homes are very large homes that are not only expensive to purchase and maintain, but also much more space than a small family needs or wants. I would love to live in a charming walkable neighborhood like this!
A wonderful garden tour. I loved all aspects of his style of gardening with the architecture of his home, it just blends beautifully . I also love the blue and have a few blue glazed pottery in my garden, but now I want the bottle bouquet, loved that!! I also loved the bamboo even though it is very aggressive. It brings in such wonderful movement with the breezes. Some great ideas to pull into our own space. Thanks for the tour🥰
What a fun garden tour! Love the pops of blue, bottle bouquets, rocks, stones, and all the eclectic treasures throughout. Thanks to all for sharing with us.
Love...Love...Love this tour!!! Yes, it does remind me of Santa Fe, which is one of our favorite places to visit!!! Would love to see an indoor tour as well!! Love all of the blue touches.....just so charming!!! Well done!
