I absolutely LOVE John!!!! He is just my kind of person....his personal ease, his curation & collected style, and his kind disposition. LOVED every single second of this 2 part video series!!!!
I just watched this tour again and will watch it over and over. His choices of collections, memories, aged pieces and new are just the best overall that I have ever seen. Kudo's to John.
John is my kind of designer - collected, curated, loved, memories, thrifted - an eclectic mix of old and new layered. The addition to this special home was seamless - well done all around. Thank you for letting us enjoy such an historic and beautifully appointed home!
Love, love, love this home tour.! John’s home is a feast for the eyes. The uniqueness of his decor is what made this so special. It totally reflects his life and signature style - and not a copy of the latest trends. Bravo!
It's funny, we laugh at how everyone had the avocado and harvest gold in the 60s and 70s, which have come to symbolize middle-of-the-road pedestrian style, and then we think it's so cool today to have the same grey and white scheme that everyone else has!
Linda, I so enjoyed all the videos on John’s house and garden. I was sad when it ended because I felt so delighted during the whole tour and I would love for you to show more like this. Thanks to you and Stewart for all you do.
I agree with this wholeheartedly! I was sad when the tour was over. Thank you both (& Stuart) for sharing this lovely home. I have subscribed & will now be checking out your other videos. Thank you Linda! 😊
Definitely a treat to see John's home, both indoors and out. Thanks for the three-part series! So many great ideas for interior design and exterior garden arrangement and decor! I very much enjoyed it all!
I actually squealed with glee when this home tour showed up in my feed. This home did not disappoint. Pure eye candy. Loved every second of it. John is a talented designer and a wonderful UA-cam host in his own right. Thank you Linda & John.
Years ago, at an antique show, we found an old aerial photograph of the neighborhood we lived in at the time. The photo was taken to document the construction of a nearby shopping center. Our home was actually one of the last ones built in that neighborhood, so it was a vacant lot in the photo. But interesting to see the old Dutch colonial next door, with its original details that had been removed by the time we moved there. Fun to observe all of the changes from when that photo had been taken!
Such a kind, giving gentleman! John was a delightful host allowing the world into his home. I, too, enjoy the items collected through the years. The price of an item isn’t why it’s in my home; it’s the memories associated with the item and how the item makes me feel.
John, Thank you so much for the hospitality showing your home!! How special to have all your collectibles right where you see them everyday😀 Linda, thank you for taking us on this ride!!!
I loved this home! So beautiful with such a warm comfortable feel. I didn’t want to leave. Stewart thank you for picking up on so many of the things that were not talked about. You did a fantastic job. Linda thanks for arranging this delightful tour. This was one of the best places you have taken us.
Wow, this home is absolutely breathtaking. I will have to come back and rewatch just to take it all in. On part 1 when you first entered into the house, I couldn't help but gasp with excitement. He really has a beautiful touch. Thank you so much to the owner for opening his door to us.
I have a friend who never used her special dishes and silver until her mother in law came to visit. She looked at the China closet, then at the table which was set with random dishes. She looked at my friend, pointed to the China cabinet and asked, "are you saving these for Warren's next wife?" She actually wrote the story up for publication and started her writing career. She also used all the China, crystal, silver, etc for every meal, including breakfast thereafter. So USE your finest for your family. They are the most important people you will ever know!
No children and no relatives visit. I have concrete floors. I use my good stuff once or twice a year. This year I ate Swanson's Turkey and Stuffing (9 ounces). Have you ever noticed that none of the single serve meals go over 12 ounces? The USDA knowns how big our stomachs are and they know we only need 32 ounces of food a day. They measure food for the US. Grocery stores measure food for every family to be fair. We can measure our food for each meal so we will have food at the end of the month and food will last longer. Not just for Weight Watchers (not called portion watchers, have you noticed?). My cousin was the botanist David G. Fairchild, who started the National Geographic with his brother-in-law. They married daughters of Alexander Graham Bell.
I'm so amazed of how he amplifies the awesomeness of old and new things. I am glad that we can still find people with old soul who treasures things from the past....
Oh my goodness I have never seen a house that suits my style more than this! I cannot express how much I love love love it! Thank you so much and thank your neighbor for allowing us to see his beautiful home! Absolutely swooning! And believe me I look at all high end designers but this one takes the number one spot! LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️
Something I never see mentioned, but have always loved, is how some people use a simple lamp in their kitchens. With all the other types of wonderful task lighting in kitchens, which can be harsh, a lamp brings in a soft glow. I'm sure John's is there for practical reasons too, but I just love the softness of that type of lighting. It gives the area a bit of a English country estate or English pub feel. Not candlelight, but not overwhelming bright overhead light either. Reminds me of watching Downton Abbey and some of the scenes showing how resistant some of the people were to upgrading to electric light which some considered too harsh. I'm sure it helps make their dinner seating much more cozy for the 2 of them. I don't recommend it, but I have a lamp right on my dinning table at the moment; still waiting for the overhead fixture to be installed. But a lamp on a kitchen countertop if you have the space is very nice. Thanks so much for the tour Linda, and thank you to John too for sharing his very inspiring and eclectic home. He has achieved a timelessness that is so enviable!! I enjoyed this tour thoroughly and will be watching it again and again to pick out ideas from it. I've always been a fan of home tours. I'm a china and book collector too and I am so envious of all John's shelving!! Oh, and I saw Stewart! Glad to see him too, thank you for not editing him out.
Linda and John , I was mesmerized with this tour, couldn’t get enough, will be watching these two videos over and over , you two are so great to spend time with . This home captured and fed me with new ideas to implement in my little home, I’m a great fan of blue and white, have little pieces here and there , but after this tour , I’m jumping in ,I will be thrifting , and on a mission . This has got to be one of the best tours that I’ve seen , the detail, and organization…wow the dishes and cabinets, the rugs …thank you both and Steward , 💕💕🏆👍🏻🥇love love
loved the tour and presentations. I live in a older home in NC and have many of my grandmother and great grandmothers antiques Especially my great-grandmother's baby grand player piano. We are very blessed to own and enjoy older things from the past. Thank you Linda.
Thank you John for allowing us to "tour" your beautiful home & also your garden. I will be watching this video again for all the things I missed the first time. Hugs & blessings from Texas 💖🦋
This house is perfectly curated-going to show that numerous different styles and time periods can be mixed successfully without being cluttered-quite the contrary here. I love these guys and their stunning, comfortable home. Thank you Linda for sharing your wonderful community! ❤️
This has been my favorite thing to watch in ages. I found out I am a Maximilist however that is spelled. In LOVE with his decor. Omg I need my house redone. I do have some bookshelves like he has in his living room but dang. And that pilgrim hat painting WOW!!!!!
there are no words to describe how wonderful this house's design is, the details, the collections. it is charming, artistic and looks so loved. thank you so much sharing!!
I could listen to John for hours so charming and interesting. His home is gorgeous. I loved his honesty target chairs. I wish he would have talked on about his approach to doing his gallery wall. Thank you John! Yes Stewart memorialized the house so well. Stewart had showed us the master bedroom ceiling even before John pointed it out. Thanks Linda
This part of the tour was wonderful too. I love the kitchen and dining room. John’s collection of China is so beautiful ❤️💙❤️. Thank you John, Linda And Stewart💙💙💙

Be still my heart. Again, thank you for opening your home to us, John. And to Linda and Stuart for bringing us along. I've never regretted the dishes I've collected, but only the ones I've parted with...well, this is going to keep me busy for awhile...
Wow - bravo, John! Thank you so much for inviting us into your amazing home and private haven. You've created a Cornucopia for the eyes! I loved these videos. So lovely... And we finally got to see handsome Stewart, lol ❣
What a treat ! I thought we were having to wait until next week 💙... This was just as incredible as the first ! What a sweet man for allowing us all in , thank you💙 These garden and home videos are so inspiring , I do hope we are invited to more, it really helps balance me out 😆 cause often I get "all about the gardens" and my house just gets set aside and begins lacking in detail and also the other way "all about the house" and then the gardens start to show signs of neglect . This was such a treat , thank you all for this. (Side note but more importantly , Linda, how is your husband's healing process going? I have been praying for you all🙏. Remarkable that you find the time and energy to do all you do even while caring for him 💙 bless you)
I live in a stone cottage circa 1756, and the closing of this segment really spoke to me. I, too, asked who has passed thru these doors, who walked up these stairs, who touched these railings? What an absolute treat to see John’s incredible home - every room down to the smallest treasure is perfectly placed and loved. Wonderful to be invited in with you, thank you to both you and John. And hallelujah, I’ve always wanted to see Stewart! So glad he didn’t edit his cameo out!!!
Who can resist China, dishes! Not me❤️I totally understand this collection and recognize most. Just as with the home tours on “Quintessence”, designers, decorators minds all work alike😂they see beauty, collect what they can and bring it home with them. I’m not a decorator, but I collect and will let my family downsize for we when I’m gone. I will not become a hoarder but I like my “stuff”! PS: That is a lot of books and my husband is not quite there with the CD🤪
What an absolute treat this tour was!!! I love this home especially the many bookcases, china display cabinets (swoon, swoon), the feature of my favorite color blue, and the use of beautiful china collections. So many wonderful decorating ideas are displayed in this cozy, welcoming home. Thanks for sharing this with us!
A Hugh thank you to John for taking us through his beautiful warm home! Also for sharing some design tips and history of items and how special they are. What a treat!!! Thank you 😊
What a great Saturday night delight! My husband might have football tomorrow, but I’ll be sitting with a silly smile, contented as a cat on a rug remembering these posts. Thanks Linda, getting to know you has brightened my life; come on over for a chat anytime, girl!
Thank you John for showing us your wonderful home. It was such a treat to see all of your wonderful treasures. You certainly have a talent for designing a warm and welcoming home.
So wise to plan for "later", and being able to stay in your home as you age. Most people don't think about widening hallways and doorways when building or remodeling a home.
John you're such a charming Gentleman...LOVED your knowledge of history, the Fabulous way you have incorporated ALL of your Beautiful found and inherited treasures, to create such an AMAZING home! What a Wonderful tour...
I keep getting ideas from this video. The recycling “dump” has blue glass I got when I took my olive bottles in. I am putting broken plates in my pots! I love so many other ideas. I am saving up for washing machines in the primary bathroom.
What a fantastic home!!! Thank you all for filming it and letting us inside. I like many OKC residents drive through these neighborhoods and can only imagine how beautiful they are inside so it’s wonderful to be able to see. Thank y’all!!❤️
Love his use of a theme that ties every room together. Love the rugs and found pieces. Each room had a throw or two. Very cosy. Love the gallery walls. Would love to see his frames up close. Laundry in the bathroom is brilliant.
Well that was awesome! Thankyou so much for spending time to explore and discuss the different aspects of this wonderful property, both inside and out. It has been a wonderful journey. I'm also a collector of China and books. & all the other stuff too.....but don't tell my husband! It has given me much inspiration, the artwork especially. Thankyou again.
What an extraordinary tour! Thank you John for allowing us in your home..notes taken! Thank you Linda you never seem to disappoint with exquisite surprises.. greatly appreciated! Thank you Stewart for such an incredible job of filming... you never miss a thing! 👏👏👏🙌💕
I have sooo enjoyed the two sessions of house tour and the garden tour! Thank you so much John and Linda for sharing this with us💕 John, I looove your home and garden💕 I will now be able to tell my husband, who thinks I have far too much china, and I want to display more, that it is not “too much stuff“ but part of the decor! Some of what has been handed down to me, and is very very dear to me, and I will in time also pass it on!
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable tour ! The home and gardens are beautiful. I love homes with character that can’t be imitated in new homes at all!
Thank you John for the invitation to tour your home. Also best wishes to Linda and Stewart. A beautiful home and a huge pleasure to pop inside this historic space. loved it all.
Linda I don't often comment. I love all your videos! Please don't kill me ! I saw the elusive Stewart. Thank you John for allowing us into your home. It was stunning.
I enjoyed these 2 videos of John’s home so much! It is so beautiful. I’m sure I will watch over and over. I love blue and white too. Thank you so much for sharing.
I know this is a year old video but I had to comment. This home is beautiful. I love blue and white and have been a collector as I could over the last 40 years. I also love the sofa in the master. Finding a classic, velvet sofa is so difficult on a budget. Wish I could afford one like this. The warmth of this home makes me feel like a welcomed guest as I sit in my apartment.
Loved this tour of his home inside, it is beautiful just as it is on the outside. Love lots of his collection pieces, China, books, luggage, and love his concrete floors. Got a little peek of handsome Stewart!😉Thank you Linda
I keep re-watching this episode whenever my eyes get hungry for beautiful and cozy interiors.
I absolutely LOVE John!!!! He is just my kind of person....his personal ease, his curation & collected style, and his kind disposition. LOVED every single second of this 2 part video series!!!!
If a home is your castle, it should welcome your heart.. as this home does for John. Perfect.
Thanks for not making us wait for part 2!! Please do more of these garden/home tours!
I just watched this tour again and will watch it over and over. His choices of collections, memories, aged pieces and new are just the best overall that I have ever seen. Kudo's to John.

How great to have a dinner party with John
How blessed you are to have so much storage space!
Wow, what a lucky find on the historical photo of the house! I now feel vindicated on my four sets of antique dishes.
Years ago, at an antique show, we found an old aerial photograph of the neighborhood we lived in at the time. The photo was taken to document the construction of a nearby shopping center. John , thank you for sharing your beautiful home. ❤
Thank you for this tour series, it was a delight. Thank you to John for sharing his home and garden, what a special place he has created.
He has a million items in the house but well organized and I love his simple design and elegance ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I tend to be more of a minimalist but his home did not at all look or feel cluttered.
@@quickflip7185 A house with half of the items as John's could easily look twice as cluttered!

I have sooo enjoyed the two sessions of house tour and the garden tour! Thank you so much John and Linda for sharing this with us💕
John, I looove your home and garden💕
I will now be able to tell my husband, who thinks I have far too much china, and I want to display more, that it is not “too much stuff“ but part of the decor!
Some of what has been handed down to me, and is very very dear to me, and I will in time also pass it on!
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable tour ! The home and gardens are beautiful. I love homes with character that can’t be imitated in new homes at all!
Boy what a treat is right. Love their beautiful blue ❣️ home. I could live there.
Very interesting and beautifully constructed house. Thanks for posting (both parts).
I enjoyed this home tour very much! I love the blue and white also. I love old homes. My home is a 112 years old. Thanks for sharing!
John is so me… love, love all the blue! He has a wonderful style of bringing it all together! Thank you for sharing!
Gorgeous dish collections! Love the flowers on the counter, too.
I enjoyed these 2 videos of John’s home so much! It is so beautiful. I’m sure I will watch over and over. I love blue and white too. Thank you so much for sharing.
Beautiful Home. Love all your treasures! Thank you Linda Vater and John!
I always thought I had too much stuff. Now I know I'am a Maximalist. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home.
John is so so talented ~
Amazing!!
Deb here. The other day we were in Lowes and lo and behold who did I spy, Linda Vater on a power plug display. Made my day.
Linda's a good steward, and she knows a good Stewart when she sees one!
John is SO welcoming!! Such a Great Gentleman!🤗
Loved this tour of his home inside, it is beautiful just as it is on the outside. Love lots of his collection pieces, China, books, luggage, and love his concrete floors. Got a little peek of handsome Stewart!😉Thank you Linda
