You speak about listening to the video tours of Quintessence - and John has Susanna Salk's book, It's the Little Things, on the shelf in his office! In case you didn't think I was pausing every scene and studying it with my magnifying glass. I'm 32 minutes in, have rewound the video 12 times so far, and have already ordered 3 books I observed and Googled 3 different designer/authors. Too bad you guys don't get commission from your "design school..." THANK YOU LINDA AND JOHN (and Stuart!) I feel like I spent the afternoon at a fabulous new friend's home. @@vangied4224 Me too🤣😅 his garden tour already binged watched 5 times trying to get my entry way in backyard similar 🤫🤭to his and the Flagstone walkway but my backyard is larger trying to make cozier space. What a fabulous house!!!! As a designer, his home really sells his talent as a designer. It’s so wonderful. So nice to see a home that is not minimalistic.
Please thank John, for having us over! I loved his decor and many stories! I’m also fond of blue and white pottery and blue glazed pots in the garden. The house has so much character. 🌱🌱🌱😃

Such a beautiful and artistic home. John's decorating style is just magnificent - I know it's done with great planning, however, it's so calming and comfortable. My favorite takeaway: the story of how John's grandmother allowed him, a young boy, to 'design' his card table fort with her fine items as long as he put them away when done. Everyone take note as there's so many valuable and loving life lessons in that story. Her heart lives on through John.
When my dad downsized, I brought to our home three ceramic roosters that someone had given my mom as a wedding shower gift decades earlier. Other people started gifting me various roosters, plus we purchased some on our excursions, so I have quite a few, mostly displayed atop our kitchen cabinets. When our grandson was a toddler, he would ask me to get down different roosters for him to look at more closely. I was impressed at how well he was able to describe the particular one he wanted to see. Once we visited a relative who had replicas of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria displayed on a high shelf. Our grandson asked if they could be brought down, and was told that those aren't toys. I think they thought it was kind of a strange thing for him to ask. One day I was thinking how unstimulating some modern interiors must be for children to grow up in. I mentioned this to an antique dealer, and she said she hadn't ever thought about that, but thought it was a good point. I do think that if children are treated with respect, most of them can learn to be respectful of other people and other people's things. And yes, accidents can and do happen, but as Linda said, they're just THINGS. I think John's story perfectly echoes my thinking providing children spaces in which to grow and learn, where they feel embraced and loved!
My passion in life has always been houses. Therefore I've been in many gorgeous houses and seen the best video on houses. This video is one of the very best. The house is gorgeous, the presenter knows her job and the person filming is brilliant !!! Please don't EVER speed things up !!! Just perfect as it is.
Linda I knew when you took us on the tour of John's gardens that the interior of his house was going to be as amazing on the inside. Can't wait for part 2. How cute that you included John in the fashion epilog . You're both so stylish!
Linda, I'm really, really enjoying your channel. The home is magnificent!! I don't think of your channel as just a gardening channel anymore!!! It's morphed into a gardening, home and lifestyle channel!! I absolutely enjoy you!!! 👍👍👍
Can’t believe it’s almost one hour long! I have enjoyed every minute of this video… the house itself, the conversation between you both, the way it’s been filmed, the furniture and art collection, the family memories, everything together making a wonderful video. Thank you.
This is my type of home. I see so many that are void of things, empty and unfeeling. I love this. My home is also packed and everything has it's place. My only fear is when I'm gone who will have to go through all of this and hopefully love some of it.
I've come to the conclusion to stop worrying about what will happen to our stuff when we're gone. We have no control over that, so why not just enjoy what we have while we are here?
This is my style. I love every piece of his blue and white and the way he has mixed it with books and other treasures. I didn't want the video to end. Can't wait for part 2. Thank you, John, for sharing your special home with all of us. I'm a kindred spirit maximalist too.
Another wonderful tour with a beautiful person. Thank you, Linda. I especially liked the blue and white as blue is my favorite color. What a charming and welcoming home….so comfortable. This is another save to view again. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for sharing.
Love John’s home !! When John told the story of how his grandmother would let him chose pieces to decorate his cardtable house I had tears. 🥲 My grandmother had many breakable things too as she hand painted all sorts of things and also did ceramics. Nothing was off limits and I am so lucky to have many of her pieces 😊 great memories!
‘Maximalist’ done well-it is beautiful and the keen organization keeps it from being suffocating. It takes great thought, skill and creativity to achieve this!
Wow! I was in heaven! I just adore John’s home! Eye candy everywhere and I plan on watching again. Linda, thank you. Please do more videos like this. John, thank you for sharing your lovely home and garden with us. Steward, thank you, you make it all come together! I’m so looking forward to seeing part 2!
I hung brass bells on our front door. I hung them there when our son started going out after learning to drive. That away I knew when he came home. When he married I divided the bells up and gave them to him. He and his wife had just had twin daughters. We have been married now for 57 years. The bells are still on our door. When I handed the bells to our son he said he hated the bells! He said he always tried to get in the door with out the bells ringing. Thank you for sharing your home.
Can we talk about how both your apparel complemented each room, linda with white top and jeans and him with the navy shirt...😊 Also your vocabulary just makes me smile..lovely tour!

LOVE anything blue and blue/white! This is like being in a candy shop for me! So much drool happening! I've been into blue/white decor and fashion for at least 20 years before it came into style a few years ago. Thank you so much for sharing your home! EVERY time I see blue/white decor is exciting for me!
John seems lovely & I appreciate his love for blue & white & I can so relate for his love of collecting lots of books! Also love his recycled wood & metal sunflower 🌻 💛
I love people who love their homes. And I love homes that are just loved. When you are in a home from this era, it feels different. Sound. Solid. Cozy. Can't wait to see Part II! Gorgeous!!!
... sound and solid for sure! I live in a two-storey brick colonial built in 1935. It's a good idea to keep the doors locked cuz you can't hear when anybody comes home! 🙃👩🌾💚 =^..^=
I love John's beautiful home, makes me swoon, but I loved to hear the story of the card table home he made at Grandma's house and how he got to take Grandma's treasured items into his card table home, and then put it back. I mean, what joy, great memory! Thank you for sharing all this with us, truly a pleasure. I also love now knowing what the term is for loving beautiful things in abundance, maximalist! I've always heard the term minimalist but never maximalist.
My goodness sakes Ms. Linda I truly appreciate you sharing your friends beautiful outdoor garden and his landscaping...and his awesome home! Stay well and safe...
Thank you so much for introducing us to the talented, inspirational John. His home & garden is breathtakingly beautiful. I was saddened to see the video's end but delighted to hear there is a Part 2!!!
This was a totally mesmerizing video. Love Johns ceramics collections!! Beautiful! Linda, please film your home interior when you and John get together for his suggestions to your home interior. I can’t wait to see what you two will come up with. I’m sure it will be jaw dropping!!! Such talent!! Thank you!!!
Hi Linda, I finished decorating my book shelves using John's as a guide. The book shelves look awesome. All my beloved books were in boxes. And now they are displayed in our master bedroom. Thinking about buying some shelves for our guest room as well. I can't thank John and you enough for showing us his home. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I love his house everything has a meaning and he displays it. The way displayed his house doesn’t look cluttered everything displayed so nicely. Love that Spanish style of house especially the older style. I hate when people take a older house and try to make it look like a modern house such a disservice to the era of the home. Love he kept the older style and mixed it with a little newer. I love that green bathroom.. No wonder he loves home, I just love it all.
Such warmth! I love a cozy, "layered" home as opposed to a showroom look. And every turn of the camera has something interesting and beautiful to admire. Can't wait for part two! Can't wait to revisit the garden video too!
I could have watched this forever! Absolutely fascinating to see everything put together so well. Thank you for the great stories and tour, can't wait to see Part 2.💕

Wow! Thank you John for allowing us to view your home and thanks Linda for inviting us! This is one of my favorite home videos. I’m a blue and white fanatic who has tried to control it but John has inspired me to release control! At least another level or two.😀 Such a lovely comfortable stylish interesting well loved home full of life and memories. So much the of what a home should be. John, May you have many more happy years in this beautiful home.
Beautiful home absolutely love the style. You had me hooked when we toured the gardens. Everything seems so effortless but we know it is by design. Waiting for the next installment. Love your outfit.
Absolutely impeccable!!! Love the bountiful blue. I was employed by Harolds and then went on to Ralph Lauren in Georgetown, my favorite position. Back garden entry to you house was spectacular. Your esthetic is spot on. 👏👏👏well done!!!! I’m sure Mr Lauren would appreciate your home:) Linda thank you for this video!! I’m sure I will watch again.
Thanks to John for sharing his beautiful home, and to Linda for taking us inside! I love John's take on the green bathroom! I personally think almost any color can be made to look good, it's what you surround it with. Sometimes it's better just to embrace something that maybe isn't what we would have chosen, rather than constantly fighting against it!
Pure delight! Those 52 minutes passed in the blink of an eye. Thank you for letting us in. Can't wait for part 2.The matchy matchy ensemble du jour was the icing on the cake.
This is the kind of home that I gravitate...I would be very comfortable and look around. There's so much to see, in a very good way. I'm a maximalist, too. I love the blue and white and all the bookshelves. Beautiful vintage home...and I really enjoyed his lovely gardens on the other tour. Thank you, Linda and John! :)
I. Loved. This. When you started telling us that we were going to see the inside of John's house, I had to drop everything else and watch. I so enjoyed the video of his garden, but I loved this one! What a talent/gift he has! It was all so beautiful. Thank you so much! (And I know exactly who Peggy Lipton is! I never wanted to miss an episode of The Mod Squad!) Best wishes from Tennessee.💕
For those who were Peggy Lipton fans, listen to her recording of Goffin/King's "It Might as Well Rain Until September." You can find it on UA-cam. One of Carole King's most sophisticated musical compositions from the 1960s, and of course, Gerry Goffin was such an incredible lyricist!
Thank you John for inviting us into your lovely home. Your warm and cozy vibe along with the blue and white are lovely. How wonderful to live in such a beautiful space. I’m looking forward to the second video.
John is such a dear to take us inside that glorious door!! I do love his exuberance in design and buying things he loves! It must be so nice to be so talented. I just buy what I like and sadly it doesn't "jell" but my daughter loves our house. She thinks it is warm so that is what matters. Can't wait for 2nd episode. Grateful to you both for this peak into that lovely home!
@Debe L ...the comfie/cozie warmth is what really matters and I'll bet your place really gels more than you realize. Like John's place, it's about all the neat little things to see, and the stories behind them. 👌👩🌾💚 =^..^=
I see things outside that I forgot about from last time. The broken pottery may be a way for me to put some color in my yard where deer roam and eat flowers. Everything about this tour was so special and you add to that by the way you describe and point out all the small little finds. Thanks to you both
OMG...I LOVE his home!!! I am a blue and white girl myself and as of right now, only have 4 ginger pots. I have some work to do! His home for me...well that is just "goals". And all of those books...be still my heart!
I forgot to ask...I am not sure if I missed it..but are you planning on talking about gallery walls? I am in the process if doing one and greatly welcome any tips. How about tips on layering decor? He is a master at it. His bookcases are amazing...all his vignettes...even his master closet!!!
Spectacular inside and outside!! Reassuring to me that it’s ok not to be white and gray!! And both your styles are warming. Thank you for sharing. Outstanding job John!!
Thank you thank you thank you Linda marvelous program today love Spanish colonial inside and outside and all the little details. Rating this a 5 Star ⭐️
I just knew from the garden tour, that I would love Johns home! It is fantastic, the layering is so well done. I also love books, can't imagine a home without lots of books. Can't wait for part two of this amazing tour!
Shoot born in Tulsa never lived on Oklahoma except for visiting family. Looks like we need to take a trip to Oklahoma City and hang out for a couple of days.
I appreciate so much John's elaboration regarding the bells he has on his front door. Such remembrance, reverence, sentimentality are likely key (IMHO) to the great gift of his eye for beauty. Maybe that's a big part of why his home evolved to be so impeccably beautiful. At any rate, I love that quality in a person. 🙌🏼 💞
I absolutely loved these 2 videos of John's house. It was wonderful! I love to see that he loves him books and items he has in his home. I do have a lot of items in my home as well and love to decorate. Thanks Linda and John for these videos.
Fabulous. What an incredible treat. Thank you, John, for sharing your lovely home. I'm definitely a maximalist and picked up new ideas! I will be at the local flea market at 6am tomorrow. My weekly routine ☺
Thanks for the inspiration to repurpose my 50 year old nesting wicker side tables. I also love stacking books…now I’ve decided how to use them to raise the table level beside a living room chair.
EXCELLENT!! Thank you so much, Linda! You have a way of making me feel that I am right there with you when Stuart is filming. I was totally “into” the tour of John’s beautiful home. Thank you, again, and can’t wait for part II. Happy weekend to you, friend! 🌿🪴🌿

Wow. Love it all. Love you both. Thank you too Stuart/Stewart.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND FABULOUS!!!!!!! AND THAT BATHROOM 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Lovely tour, always Linda provides unique gardens and houses in her ever inspiring videos.
Pure delight! Those 52 minutes passed in the blink of an eye. Thank you for letting us in. Can't wait for part 2.The matchy matchy ensemble du jour was the icing on the cake.
Love the bells on the door and lords of stuff to organize
This home is so inspirational 💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍
I am also a maximalist so of course I am in love with this look.
We love how you visit your friends....we want more ...thank you...
I love bookshelves with books. So many precious books filled with so much knowledge, fun and information. Thanks for this tour.
I wish I had a John in my life! Very talented. Thanks for sharing this beautiful home.
This place ia my dream! I'd never leave home!! What a peaceful paradise ✨
I have a friend who owned this house years ago and I’ve been in it numerous times. It’s a wonderful house.
How cool that you know my house. Can you share anymore details?
I. Loved.
This tour was wonderful, can't wait for part 2.
Thank you. This was a real treat to see. I love to see inside of homes. Thanks again.
Thank you John for inviting us into your lovely home. Your warm and cozy vibe along with the blue and white are lovely. How wonderful to live in such a beautiful space. I’m looking forward to the second video.
I could go on and on!!! But I'll keep it simple! Love, love, love this amazing home!!! 💙
Hi there.. how are you doing? Hope you’re fine and staying safe.??
Thanks to John for sharing his incredible home!!! Love this!! Thanks Linda & Stewart!! Great eye candy!!!😍
John’s house is really neat, one of the best tours ever. Such a pleasure to be at his house.
Ok, so this house is now one of the best I have ever seen:)
So beautiful!! Immaculate, charming and cosy..the best interior I have ever seen with so much detail.. Loved it!!
John really loves blue , awesome tour , thank you 🙏 John and Linda and Stewart
Thank you thank you thank you Linda marvelous program today love Spanish colonial inside and outside and all the little details. Rating this a 5 Star ⭐️
Love John! And his home…. Thank you for inviting us in!
I just knew from the garden tour, that I would love Johns home! It is fantastic, the layering is so well done. I also love books, can't imagine a home without lots of books. Can't wait for part two of this amazing tour!
I don't think it is scaring or overwhelming. Your home is very clean and organized and very beautiful.
Loving the tour! I also have camel bells hanging on the inside of my front door. 💙
Omg I love his style. 🥰🥰🥰 Give me blue and white and I’m great. It’s the Art of what you love to surround yourself with🥰
I absolutely loved these 2 videos of John's house.
He’s a very talented and curated maximalist. Such a lovely home, I can’t wait to see the new portion of this home.
And Linda I love your philosophy around importance of ‘broken feelings’ rather than ‘broken things’. Thank you all ! 🇨🇦
