Fellow Canadian doing front and back brakes on 4th vehicle in past month, and dealing with this now. Others all had threaded holes in face of rotors for bolts to pop them loose. These rotors don’t have the holes, and rust penetrant and hammering didn’t help. Will try this next.

I had to do this plus beat on it from behind with a 3# mallet....but it worked. That BOIOIOIOING of the rotor breaking free is sweet, sweet music.

It worked like a charm. The threads were a little too short, so I lodged the old shoe pad between the screw and the rotor and it worked fine.

Works great tried everything else and this worked right away. The problem I had was the shaft wasn't threaded so I got a similar sided bolt and threaded a nut on it from the back side. Thank You! 99 Subaru Outback.

Thanks for the idea and will be using it later this morning. Rotors on a 2017 Rogue are rusted in place with only 50k on the car. Appreciate it.

Good idea. I use a 150mm gear puller for such issues.

And when you bend or break the calliper mounting bracket...what is the hack then ?
I suggest 50/50 Acetone and Auto transmission fluid as a release oil. Let is soak. Have a coffee.
Then copper faced hammer on the rotor face.
Also you can put bottle jack under rotor and lower car slightly. (hammer as well)

If you hit it with a hammer when you do that it will pop loose sooner

i did that with the passenger side with no luck and i didn't have a torch at that time so i came up with this and filmed the drivers side.

@@greencomfortliving4909 what I meant was hit it while you are applying pressure with your bolts, might help with a really stuck one, I really like the bolt idea
