I think the lyrics of the song Go much deeper than losing a pet. They talk about losing a loved one, whether from death Or separation. This song is delicately beautiful from start to finish.
You have missed the point... its about Brian Losing his beloved pet, which was a sibling to him.. it devestated him as a child. Pets are not just animals they are part of our family, and as important as a sibling or even child.
This song hits hard for me especially the video because I've lost a cat and 2 bunnies before and I know it is like losing a person. Especially when your responsibility is to take care of them everyday. But this music video also brings peace for that and reminds us that our passed over pets are in a good place and appreciate all that we have done for them. I buried 2 of my bunnies underneath a pine tree right outside my bedroom window and anytime I look at it I remember all of the good times I've had with them. And I know they miss me just as much as I miss them. 😥❤ so thank you again for taking the initiative to watch the music video.
Lost my favorite kitty recently - I watch this from time to time, because I so relate -Brian is such a sensitive soul -- many years later when Freddie had them record "Delilah" for his favorite cat, it was viewed by some as "self-indulgent" - and in fact, not a very good song -- I must say that I concur to some degree - Brian's song was so beautiful and less "specific" to a CAT - when I first heard it as a teenager, I never suspected its genesis -- but when I finally learned, I realized how perfect it is -- and the video -- long time coming - is also great...
I am so sorry for your lose, my deepest condolences. I just lost my hamster and its hard.
Love this. The drive to the vet office is so hard. The little creature is looking at you depending on you. And even though its the best thing...you have doubts looking into those precious eyes.
This was the Brian May version. You still need to find the version with Freddie singing. Unfortunately you ended the video a little early. Notice that there were 4 white birds flying part way through the song and then two flew down by the cat at the end. Wow - the symbolism!

brian may said that the album art was based on a sci-fi story about a giant robot with the mind of a child.
out of curiosity, he picks up four humans to examine them. (or play with them like toys)
he doesn't realize that his strength is enough to accidentally kill them, so he is looking at them and wondering why they aren't moving anymore.
the artwork seems to be another angle on the theme of loss and grieving, but with the added guilt of knowing you harmed someone else by mistake. (if you look at it through the robot's eyes)
This is one of my favorite songs and thank you for doing it. Loosing my dog was devastating. She woke me with labored breathing at 6am and died in my arms, which, as I knew she was dying, was the perfect way for us. But as I get older (passed 69) this song represents much more -
the loss and death of dreams, plans, expectations, etc, that I was certain would come to be in my life, but never will be, due to time, age, disability. I never doubted these plans would be part of my life, but time goes by so fast while you're busy doing other of those dreams and plans. It's deeply heartbreaking, yet this song is a comfort to me as I feel less alone with such loss and disappointment. And, he adds that they're not really all dead because "I'm old but still a child" and it's this that allows me to rest at times, in the fantasy that they will all come to fruition. A magnificent yet much underrated song.

First 2 butterflies, the 4 birds then two birds left at the end
Did you notice the birds? There are 4 but at the end there's only 2 & they land on Frank's hand if I remember correctly, but the ads got in the way at the end. Some people think that's a deliberate reference to Freddie & Deaky being gone and Brian & Roger left.
Frank the robot still appears on stage with them in concert. Or at least his giant head does, looking around at the audience during "We Will Rock You". It's a great effect, kind of awe-inspiring it's so real looking.
About pets. I had 2 Cocker Spaniels growing up. My dad wouldn't let me be there during euthanasia. As a young adult I decided I would always stay with my pets so that the last thing they knew & felt was me caressing them & talking to them. It nearly killed me the first time (my 3rd Cocker I had in my young adult life). It hurts every time but it's important to me be there.
My last dog, Asta, lived to be 16 but I didn't get to be with her due to unforeseeable circumstances. That was a few years ago & I still cry very easily over not only what happened but that I wasn't with her.
And then there were the kitties. I've always done a lot of animal rescue work & in the late 90's/early 2000's I came across 5 kittens (at different times, only 2 were siblings) who were handicapped/special needs, deformed legs being the main problem. Nobody wanted them so I ended up with my special little group. I wanted to give them each a long happy life. They all made it to 18 & 19. I lost the last of that little group over a year ago. I was with each at the end.
And now this is the first time in my whole life I've been without a pet (there were a couple of bunnies along the way too). It feels so strange. But I'm sure there's some little stray that will find his or her way to me. I consider animals one of life's greatest joys so it's bound to happen.💙

@@TheBassPlayer It has the same video. I actually prefer Brian's version. One thing that is missed in the video is at the end, the cat (Pixie was her name) curls up in Frank's hand and Frank curls his fingers around her. It's really sweet, but the links at the end cover it up. Btw...Frank is the name Queen gave the robot. 🤖

When I saw you were doing this video, I literally said "YAAAAY"! I freakin' love this song and I freakin' LOVE this video... It's one of my favorites!!
I look at this as Kitty's metaphysical journey from one plane of existence to another. Because when someone/something dies, they don't just vanish as if never there: Energy in the form of a person/creature doesn't cease to exist with their physical body's passing; that energy then just changes into a different form.
Did you recognize the robot? It's "Frank" (Yes, that is his name... I looked it up on Wikipedia) from Queen's "News Of The World" album.

This version is the original version the version you thought you were listening to starts with Freddie singing "Memories Memories"was a guide demo from Freddie for Brian, it was long rumoured to exist but no one knew for sure and then it was happily released by Queen. I don't think it was sung in full by Freddie that is why it was a hybrid. Please go find it it's worth a listen. The robot is called Frank

Brian May actually wrote it about the death of his cat. He love animals and is an animal rights activist.

I love Brian’s soft and gentle voice... but Freddie’s voice has an special coloratura, and I think the song sound much better in this version, IMO
